Veeno Chester in Cheshire West and Chester

Drinks were really nice, service was lovely, food was average and flavourless the chef didn’t seem up to it. I would go back for drinks and service just not food.

My wife and I have been to Veeno's Chester a number of times for various food options with drinks. Food has always been excellent, staff lovely and brilliant service.

Amazing meal. Wonderful service. Lovely location and great food. Max was a great waiter, really funny and chatty, whilst ensuring top quality service - would really recommend!

Absolutely gorgeous place. I’ve enjoyed it so much with my 9yo son. The couple next to us was celebrating a birthday, some would come to have an aperitive, some like us would have a proper Italian dinner before going for a nice walk. Wine list had some really items.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks today at Veeno. Pratima was the perfect host and most helpful.

The menu offered some great options for us and we thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. The atmosphere was lovely and added to the occasion. We were looked after by Max...he is very knowledgeable and helped making our choice of food less of a challenge as everything looked amazing. I stopped in for a glass of wine as my train back to Manchester was cancelled. The atmosphere is great. I sat at the front table in the window and watched Chester just happen in front of me. The wine was excellent and it was a great was to pass the time.

Me and my friend had wonderful experience at the Vino in Chester last Saturday ! The atmosphere was warm ( maybe the music was bit loud but it got turned down) and inviting, with a fantastic selection of Italian vine and tasty board with Italian cold meats, olives and cheese . A special thank you to the lovely waitress, Pratima, whose attentive service and friendly demeanour made lunch even more memorable. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a taste of Italy in the heart of Chester!Let me know if you’d like to add any personal touches!

Aside from the amazing food and the service!! My boy called out summit!! The head chef was training with the food and when done... the surplus food Alice (trainee chef) went and blessed folk on the street! Not to take away the amazing food and flavours these guys offer... it was this act of kindness that capped the whole entire evening! Thank you so much guys my 10 year old boy saw you and that's so important ❤️

Lovely experience. I had never noticed it existed before until a friend recommended we ate here. Cozy atmosphere. The food was excellent. However, be ready for high prices.

The food prepared by Ellis is incredible. How she does such amazing food in such a small space is astounding. The service is fabulous & can’t fault them. The wines are the best around. We love a visit to Veeno & will be back again very soon!

We visited Veeno whilst staying in Chester. What an amazing place. On the night we went, there was only one person on table duties and she did an amazing job and the service was second to none. The food was absolutely delicious, possibly even better than I have had in Italy!!! One measure I have for an Italian restaurant is the quality of the Tiramisu. What can I say, but it is the best I’ve ever had. Amazing!!!

Exceptional service, food & a great choice of wine. Izzy & Max particularly were wonderful, nothing was an issue and had a constant smile. We were well looked after and they couldn't do enough. We'll be back again soon

Me and my friend ate here on a Monday evening. It wasn't that busy so we got a table easily without having to book. I had the Penne pasta with aubergine in it and my friend got the Carbonara. We both really enjoyed our dishes and finished every bite. You can tell the chef takes pride in what they do. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was cosy with nice traditional music playing in the background. I was also made up that we could see the cathedral from our table. I would probably book if it were a day later in the week or weekend to avoid disappointment as there aren't that many tables. I will definitely eat here again. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Max was my server and he treated me the best I’ve ever been in a restaurant. Him and Ellie really bring the atmosphere up when visiting Veeno. 10/10 food will definitely be visiting again!

Came here on a Wednesday night for a friend’s birthday. Lovely restaurant and both Ellis and our waitress, Ellie, were so welcoming and friendly from the minute we arrived until we left. Food was amazing! Definitely recommend.

Had a delicious lunch today at Veeno Chester. We had pizza and tagliatelle and both were lovely. Service excellent and Ellis and Pratama were brilliant. Will go again.

Took advantage of the 50% off January offer to have meal for 5. Had of starters, mains, and deserts all pizza and pastas. All the food was excellent, empty plates all round, amazing from such a small kitchen, it represents fantastic value for money, wine and drinks always good here. Nice ambience just by the cathedral. Very enjoyable time spent at Veeno. Sampled some good wines that were recommended to us (also quite good prices relative to London), had the charcuterie and cheese board (picolini) along with a caprese salad. Was plenty of food for two. We were the only couple in the place prior to closing and had a very nice chat with our wonderful front line person Elly and Ellis running the kitchen. The two of them made for a very memorable evening. Would definitely go back.

Lovely food, but service is shocking. Requested service charge to be removed, I think as they charge service charge they think they don't need to actually provide service. After 15 mins of finishing our meal I had to ask them to clean our plates away. Then after 20 mins of waiting for pre ordered deserts, when I asked where they were, they brought desert menus over, I explained they already had our orders, no apologies or anything, just a pulled face..disgraceful customer service.

Found Veeno completely by accident while exploring Chester Christmas market!.... What a find! We were brilliantly looked after by Ellie - incredible knowledge, and great conversation all evening - an absolute credit to the venue. The wine was exception, the sharing platter to die for, and the atmosphere relaxed and intimate - the perfect winters Friday night. Thank you - can't wait to come back :)

We have been today for afternoon tea which was amazing however I must admit the visit to the toilets, what a let down! the dinghy filthy stairs and really sticky floors left me wondering how clean the rest of it really was!

Some great bespoke food and drink experiences. Afternoon teas and wine tasting, some delicious looking platters of food. Good atmosphere. Now the bad bits, using the stairs up to the toilets, sticky worn out flooring, cracked paint on the walls, filthy windows and frames, toilets are tiny and the paint and flooring are just as bad in there unfortunately. Wouldn’t take much to update the paint and flooring !!

I have been to Veeno quite a few times. First was a wine tasting experience which was brilliant. I've also popped in for a glass occasionally and love the service and atmosphere. The wines are gorgeous.

Popped in for a quick drink here on a Friday evening. What a treat. From the off we were welcomed by Pratima who continued to be attentive, helpful and very friendly throughout. We also met her colleague James. Clearly very experienced and knowledgeable of the wine list, he recommended a couple of beautiful wines to us and even let us sample them. We were unable to stay for long unfortunately but we will definitely be visiting again. We recommend you do too, 100% Chris N and JJ

My sister and I had the Trip to Sicily wine tasting experience bought for us as a birthday present. We'd never done anything like this before and weren't sure what to expect. We were greeted warmly by Nico when we arrived and shown to a table straight away. Nico explained that it would take about 20 minutes to prepare everything so we had a glass of delicious red wine and sat and people watched for a while. We were shown the wines we'd be tasting - two white, a rose and two red. After a short while a large wooden platter was brought to the table containing a selection of breads, cheeses and ham. It looked amazing. Nico returned with two glasses of white wine for us, explained how the wine was made, where it was from and what to choose from the board to accompany it. He then left us in peace to enjoy it - and enjoy it we did. He returned every 20 minutes or so with two more glasses of wine and more interesting information about the wine and more excellent advice on what to choose to accompany it. We finished off with a home made Tiramisu and a glass of slightly sweeter dessert wine. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience and we definitely recommend it. We had a table booked for 5 on a Saturday evening at 8pm. We were asked to wait to see if our table was ready, and when told it was, we were seated as an uncleaned, and only set for 3 people. We had to ask for the table to be cleaned and set properly. We waiting a while for our drinks order to be taken, then only 4/5 arrived. When our food order was taken, our waitress didn’t write anything down so had to return and ask again what we had ordered- she was visibly stressed and on edge. Our food arrived and although our ravioli was nice, the carbonara had little flavour, and the ‘Italian nachos’ was just tortilla chips- not worth £10! Sent them back and ordered something different- staff were happily and polite to accommodate this. Once finished, we weren’t offered a dessert menu, and were left for 20 minutes before being given our bill. Disappointed by the service, felt like our waitress hadn’t been trained properly, but she was lovely. Food was average, wouldn’t recommend again. Nice for drinks though (large wines!)

We came here as a delayed birthday gift for the “Italian afternoon tea”. Unfortunately apart from the top tier which was meats, Gorgonzola and Italian biscuits none of it was very good. The sandwiches were dry with just some vegetables inside, the middle tier was clearly just pre bought packeted items that just weren’t nice and overall it just felt like a big standard not very well done afternoon tea. We were hoping for a proper Italian twist with cheeses and fresh bruschetta and meats and were extremely dissapointed with a badly done English afternoon tea.

Thank you for our wine tasting experience. The wines were lovely and the platter impressive. With knowledgeable staff and a lovely atmosphere we had an enjoyable couple of hours. We will return. Carol & Chris

I can only comment on the wine and not food, as only had drinks. However it did look very nice and will go back to try. Good choice of wine and good service

The seating outside was uncomfortable. The waitress took our order without taking a note and got the order wrong. The service was slow and very few customers were in the restaurant at the time. The sandwich was ok, not much meat filling, mostly veg.

We went for the Italian (Sicily) Wine Tasting package at Veeno. We had 2 x white wine, 1 x rose wine and 2 x reds to taste and enjoy! What lovely wines they all were. Elli (our host) was very friendly and the perfect host. Well worth a visit.

Attended for a hen do on Saturday for bottomless pizza and fizz. Was booked in for 1pm and wasn’t brought any fix for nearly 20 minutes after arriving. We were very impressed with the pizza. But we have come home to realise that we have been charged for 2 extra pizzas (which was supposed to be and was advertised as bottomless pizza and fizz) on top of the bill which also included over £50 of service charges for 10 people which was more than 10% of the bill.

This wine tasting experience was fantastic, I would recommend this to anyone who loves Italian food and wines. You are given advice on what you will taste in each wine variety and the food types that they are good to accompany. The young lady who advices gives the right amount of information on each wine type then leaves you to enjoy your experience. Perfect.

We’ve been to a Veeno previously so we were expecting some great food and wine. The restaurant had asked us to preorder as we were a large group so we submitted choices, only to be told that several things were not available on arrival, even chips! The food that was available was tasty and there’s always a great selection of wine. We were in the separate dining room so it was a nice place to eat and drink with friends. Overall, we would go again as we know the brand but this particular visit was disappointing, despite ordering ahead.

We stumbled upon veeno by accident and I’m so glad we did! The service was superb, Nico (from Italy) was very knowledgeable, informative, friendly and looked after us very well. The wine is mostly organic (nearing 100%) and the whites we had were delicious and very reasonably priced for the service and experience we got! We didn’t eat much but they did have a great menu (including GF pizza) and the pastas and boards looked unreal. Looking forward to visiting again and would highly recommend.

We arrived it was busy and nice atmosphere.. I said we have a booking but they didn’t have it.. they said if I booked yesterday it might be too close for the fork. They said out of their control !! I have used the fork 29 mins before a booking and it was there in other restaurants.. it felt like they had taken larger bookings and bumped us off. The offered us a table upstairs on our own just 2 of us friends.. we didn’t fancy that at all so we said we would leave it.. very disappointed we th them.. we have been a few times before but it has put us off.. looked like different management.. the food was always good and it was busy so it probably still is.

We recently spent a blissful few hours at the Veeno Wine Bar in Chester to watch The Duke of Westminster’s wedding at Chester Cathedral - the bar is THE best viewing point of the front of the cathedral! Nico, Ellie & the team couldn’t have been more accommodating, they really did help make the day extra special 👌🏼 The food, drink & service here is always excellent so whether you’re visiting Chester for the weekend or are a fellow Cestrian, add Veeno’s to your itinerary! Excellent!! What a great experience. Myself and my partner enjoyed the Trip to Sicily wine tasting experience. Lovely wines, extremely well-paired food, fantastic host (Yaseer, was so personable, friendly and knowledgeable!); an all around wonderful experience that far exceeded our expectations. The whole experience was woeful the staff seemed overwhelmed and food that was served was bland,cold and basically disgusting. No explanation from staff or manager as to the poor service we encountered will not be returning.

Our third visit to this restaurant. We love how dog friendly they were but the food, cocktails and wine were even better. Always explained what we had food wise and about the wine. We will be back.

Went here today and the service was slow waiting for only one cocktail which was just ice and a little bit it was free one and didn't taste like Ferrero rocher but it was ok and the young lady was kind though

We had dinner here before going to the theatre. Our food was great and we were able to take advantage of the wine Wednesday offer and get a free bottle of wine! Only one staff member on so service was a bit slow but it was friendly.

Double check your bill before paying. Dishonest,they want us to pay £87 instead £55. Added wine ( we didn't order) and service charge much over 10% They refunded difference after my complaint but it was still a very bad experience. Food was very good.

We had a lovely couple of hours trying the wine flights and a fabulous sharing board. A very intimate setting making this a great place to sit, eat and drink some fabulous wine.

Visited recently.for 'Afternoon tea for two'. Food came on a nice 3 layered tray with sandwiches, cheese, salami & a couple of different desserts. Whilst initially you might look & think it's not much, by the end of it you are quite full!! The food was very nice although we did say that it was loaded more towards the sweet side & less of the savouries - maybe more sandwiches might have helped there. We didn't get a coffee as we were told that the milk frother wasn't working, bit disappointed about that. As this experience was already paid for, we only had to pay for drinks - please look at the drinks menu first as some, e.g. a small bottle of coke, we thought was very expensive at £4 each!! Overall I would say give this a go, as the food is nice & people watching looking out towards the cathedral can always be a laugh!!

Lovely afternoon tea here, great part of Chester but sadly the service wasn't great. Waited a very long time to be seated and had to ask for our Tea/Coffee part of the Afternoon Tea. It was busy so appreciate the staff may have been overrun.
