Veeno Chester in Cheshire West and Chester

I have been to Veeno quite a few times. First was a wine tasting experience which was brilliant. I've also popped in for a glass occasionally and love the service and atmosphere. The wines are gorgeous.

Popped in for a quick drink here on a Friday evening. What a treat. From the off we were welcomed by Pratima who continued to be attentive, helpful and very friendly throughout. We also met her colleague James. Clearly very experienced and knowledgeable of the wine list, he recommended a couple of beautiful wines to us and even let us sample them. We were unable to stay for long unfortunately but we will definitely be visiting again. We recommend you do too, 100% Chris N and JJ

My sister and I had the Trip to Sicily wine tasting experience bought for us as a birthday present. We'd never done anything like this before and weren't sure what to expect. We were greeted warmly by Nico when we arrived and shown to a table straight away. Nico explained that it would take about 20 minutes to prepare everything so we had a glass of delicious red wine and sat and people watched for a while. We were shown the wines we'd be tasting - two white, a rose and two red. After a short while a large wooden platter was brought to the table containing a selection of breads, cheeses and ham. It looked amazing. Nico returned with two glasses of white wine for us, explained how the wine was made, where it was from and what to choose from the board to accompany it. He then left us in peace to enjoy it - and enjoy it we did. He returned every 20 minutes or so with two more glasses of wine and more interesting information about the wine and more excellent advice on what to choose to accompany it. We finished off with a home made Tiramisu and a glass of slightly sweeter dessert wine. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience and we definitely recommend it. We had a table booked for 5 on a Saturday evening at 8pm. We were asked to wait to see if our table was ready, and when told it was, we were seated as an uncleaned, and only set for 3 people. We had to ask for the table to be cleaned and set properly. We waiting a while for our drinks order to be taken, then only 4/5 arrived. When our food order was taken, our waitress didn’t write anything down so had to return and ask again what we had ordered- she was visibly stressed and on edge. Our food arrived and although our ravioli was nice, the carbonara had little flavour, and the ‘Italian nachos’ was just tortilla chips- not worth £10! Sent them back and ordered something different- staff were happily and polite to accommodate this. Once finished, we weren’t offered a dessert menu, and were left for 20 minutes before being given our bill. Disappointed by the service, felt like our waitress hadn’t been trained properly, but she was lovely. Food was average, wouldn’t recommend again. Nice for drinks though (large wines!)

We came here as a delayed birthday gift for the “Italian afternoon tea”. Unfortunately apart from the top tier which was meats, Gorgonzola and Italian biscuits none of it was very good. The sandwiches were dry with just some vegetables inside, the middle tier was clearly just pre bought packeted items that just weren’t nice and overall it just felt like a big standard not very well done afternoon tea. We were hoping for a proper Italian twist with cheeses and fresh bruschetta and meats and were extremely dissapointed with a badly done English afternoon tea.

Thank you for our wine tasting experience. The wines were lovely and the platter impressive. With knowledgeable staff and a lovely atmosphere we had an enjoyable couple of hours. We will return. Carol & Chris

I can only comment on the wine and not food, as only had drinks. However it did look very nice and will go back to try. Good choice of wine and good service

The seating outside was uncomfortable. The waitress took our order without taking a note and got the order wrong. The service was slow and very few customers were in the restaurant at the time. The sandwich was ok, not much meat filling, mostly veg.

Attended a wine tasting and was assisted by Ellie. She was knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. The food offered was sublime and matched the wine well. It felt sophisticated. Excellent value for money. Great experience.

We went for the Italian (Sicily) Wine Tasting package at Veeno. We had 2 x white wine, 1 x rose wine and 2 x reds to taste and enjoy! What lovely wines they all were. Elli (our host) was very friendly and the perfect host. Well worth a visit.

Attended for a hen do on Saturday for bottomless pizza and fizz. Was booked in for 1pm and wasn’t brought any fix for nearly 20 minutes after arriving. We were very impressed with the pizza. But we have come home to realise that we have been charged for 2 extra pizzas (which was supposed to be and was advertised as bottomless pizza and fizz) on top of the bill which also included over £50 of service charges for 10 people which was more than 10% of the bill.

This wine tasting experience was fantastic, I would recommend this to anyone who loves Italian food and wines. You are given advice on what you will taste in each wine variety and the food types that they are good to accompany. The young lady who advices gives the right amount of information on each wine type then leaves you to enjoy your experience. Perfect.

We’ve been to a Veeno previously so we were expecting some great food and wine. The restaurant had asked us to preorder as we were a large group so we submitted choices, only to be told that several things were not available on arrival, even chips! The food that was available was tasty and there’s always a great selection of wine. We were in the separate dining room so it was a nice place to eat and drink with friends. Overall, we would go again as we know the brand but this particular visit was disappointing, despite ordering ahead.

Great food l, friendly staff a very pleasant experience

We arrived it was busy and nice atmosphere.. I said we have a booking but they didn’t have it.. they said if I booked yesterday it might be too close for the fork. They said out of their control !! I have used the fork 29 mins before a booking and it was there in other restaurants.. it felt like they had taken larger bookings and bumped us off. The offered us a table upstairs on our own just 2 of us friends.. we didn’t fancy that at all so we said we would leave it.. very disappointed we th them.. we have been a few times before but it has put us off.. looked like different management.. the food was always good and it was busy so it probably still is.

We stumbled upon veeno by accident and I’m so glad we did! The service was superb, Nico (from Italy) was very knowledgeable, informative, friendly and looked after us very well. The wine is mostly organic (nearing 100%) and the whites we had were delicious and very reasonably priced for the service and experience we got! We didn’t eat much but they did have a great menu (including GF pizza) and the pastas and boards looked unreal. Looking forward to visiting again and would highly recommend.

We recently spent a blissful few hours at the Veeno Wine Bar in Chester to watch The Duke of Westminster’s wedding at Chester Cathedral - the bar is THE best viewing point of the front of the cathedral! Nico, Ellie & the team couldn’t have been more accommodating, they really did help make the day extra special 👌🏼 The food, drink & service here is always excellent so whether you’re visiting Chester for the weekend or are a fellow Cestrian, add Veeno’s to your itinerary! Excellent!! What a great experience. Myself and my partner enjoyed the Trip to Sicily wine tasting experience. Lovely wines, extremely well-paired food, fantastic host (Yaseer, was so personable, friendly and knowledgeable!); an all around wonderful experience that far exceeded our expectations. The whole experience was woeful the staff seemed overwhelmed and food that was served was bland,cold and basically disgusting. No explanation from staff or manager as to the poor service we encountered will not be returning.

Our third visit to this restaurant. We love how dog friendly they were but the food, cocktails and wine were even better. Always explained what we had food wise and about the wine. We will be back.

Went here today and the service was slow waiting for only one cocktail which was just ice and a little bit it was free one and didn't taste like Ferrero rocher but it was ok and the young lady was kind though

We had dinner here before going to the theatre. Our food was great and we were able to take advantage of the wine Wednesday offer and get a free bottle of wine! Only one staff member on so service was a bit slow but it was friendly.

Came here for a dinner date with my partner, the food was really nice and our server was also very friendly and accommodating and we had a great time. Definitely recommend!

Great wine list and brilliant service

Double check your bill before paying. Dishonest,they want us to pay £87 instead £55. Added wine ( we didn't order) and service charge much over 10% They refunded difference after my complaint but it was still a very bad experience. Food was very good.

A bit pricy for the food size, but the customer service was great and the staff were friendly the drinks were lovely all my requests were met and a staff member gave me and my partner a free drink as it was our anniversary

Food okay. If eating here expect a 12.5% service charge on top of your food.

Afternoon tea excellent value Attentive staff serving tasty food

We had a lovely couple of hours trying the wine flights and a fabulous sharing board. A very intimate setting making this a great place to sit, eat and drink some fabulous wine.

Visited recently.for 'Afternoon tea for two'. Food came on a nice 3 layered tray with sandwiches, cheese, salami & a couple of different desserts. Whilst initially you might look & think it's not much, by the end of it you are quite full!! The food was very nice although we did say that it was loaded more towards the sweet side & less of the savouries - maybe more sandwiches might have helped there. We didn't get a coffee as we were told that the milk frother wasn't working, bit disappointed about that. As this experience was already paid for, we only had to pay for drinks - please look at the drinks menu first as some, e.g. a small bottle of coke, we thought was very expensive at £4 each!! Overall I would say give this a go, as the food is nice & people watching looking out towards the cathedral can always be a laugh!!

Perfect selection of wine, good to see frizante on the menu. Afternoon tea very well paired. Staff were very attentive but they also seemed happy and relaxed. Great location too.

Lovely afternoon tea here, great part of Chester but sadly the service wasn't great. Waited a very long time to be seated and had to ask for our Tea/Coffee part of the Afternoon Tea. It was busy so appreciate the staff may have been overrun.

É um pequeno/ mini restaurante no meio de chester. Toda vez que passava por ele pensava em parar e dessa vez parei com meu marido. Gostamos do local. Pequenininho mas bem aconchegante. Confesso que esperava mais dos vinhos e comida. Acho que o serviço é bom mas não é extraordinário e não achei os vinhos tão bons. De qualquer maneira se quiser passar rapidinho é uma boa escolha. Eu morei na Itália e não achei que é muito italiano. Rs música boa pelo menos. Tocando música brasileira então amei isso. Na hora de sair vi uma tábua de queijos e salames que estava bem bonita. Não provamos então não sei dizer se estava bom.

Locale centralissimo a due passi dalla Cattedrale. Sono stato in varie occasioni e devo dire che il cibo è assolutamente buono, ho sempre mangiato bene. Metto però 3 stelle perché il vino che ho provato non ha raggiunto le aspettative. Non ho trovato quella qualità che giustifica il prezzo dei singoli calici. Probabilmente avrei dovuto provare le bottiglie, ma essendo da solo non mi è stato possibile. In ogni caso non posso non consigliare il posto.

Lovely food,shame about service, we had to ask four our tea and coffee,as food brought to us but no drinks so we had to ask, also long wait when we arrived, we waited about 15 mins by bar when we arrived,it wasn't busy,female behind bar didn't acknowledge us for 15 minutes but no other customers waiting, when we asked for our hot drinks I asked for a coffee and was brought a cappuccino, bit rich to have with afternoon tea. Daughter asked for mint tea but given green tea. On the plus side food was delicious.

We enjoyed a fantastic wine tasting experience at Veeno - 5 wines with a huge charcuterie board followed by a dessert wine with a delicious tiramisu. We were guided through the experience by Ellie, who was very knowledgeable, friendly and fun. A wonderful afternoon and great value. We'll definitely be returning.

We sat outside so atmosphere was hard to judge…. Nice sitting out front people watching. We had the shared Quattro Rossi- 4 different taster wines and Italian meats, olives, bread etc to combine. These were really good and tasty. Look forward to returning and having a main meal.

My husband & I were celebrity our 1st wedding anniversary having got married in Chester . We chose to celebrate in Vino and it didn’t disappoint! From the moment we walked in Simon and the fabulous waitresses really looked after us . They kindly moved us from the table in the window as it was really sunny and warm! It’s such a lovely atmosphere I’m Vino and reminded us of our honeymoon in Lake Garda …. especially enjoying an Aperol Spritz & sharing board ! Our daughter had bought my wife and I a voucher for 'I Quattro Vini' - a food and wine pairing offered by Veeno. The atmosphere in the place was great and the service and food both exceeded our expectations. We ha a really lovely evening which was made even more special by Beth to tended to our every need without being intrusive at all. We would recommend Veeno based on our experience.

We were served by Ellie for the trip to Sicily experience. It was a brilliant experience lasting over two hours where Ellie explained the origins of the wines and why they’d been paired with each of the foods. There was no pressure to purchase the wines at the end (although very tempted). Will definitely go back again for some of the other wine experiences or the bottomless pizza!

Ellie was a delightful and knowledgable hostess for our "Trip to Sicily", sampling 6 foods and 6 wines from there. Delicious! Jack, the manager, ensured everything ran smoothly despite how busy they were, and people Turing up a week early. Strongly recommended!

My wife and I came here for a Virgin wine tasting experience ( an xmas gift from our daughter) OMG, everything about it was 1st class, the food platter was extremely pleasant as for the wine selection, each wine was given with a discrimination of origin and which food it paired with, it was very informative & better than expected, obviously my wife differed on choice but that's down to personal taste. When back in Chester I would definitely bring my wife here for lunch again

I was denied entry saying they had no tables available as there were several tables available, I waited outside for about 40 minutes and those tables were never taken. And I couldn't get in.

We were given a voucher for afternoon tea and opted to use it at Veeno for our anniversary. The afternoon tea for two was a fun alternative to traditional afternoon teas and was delicious! The staff were great, in particular Josh who made sure we had everything we needed and took us through the whole experience. We can't wait for our next experience at Veeno.

Sicilian wine tasting experience. A must to try if you are in Chester or as a gift for a special occasion. Food was very enjoyable, the wines paired to the food was excellent and the service was second to none (thank you Rob).

Turned up for a birthday drink and food, sat down ordered drinks looking at the menu to be told no food only nibbles, ordered bread basket and server told us the chef had went mad that he had put the order through. Safe to say we drank up and left. I was really looking forward to this for my birthday and it spoilt the evening.

Always great food and wine, took advantage of the Monday night offer - grande meat& cheese board & wine, great value. Added a pizza and bread as there were 3 of us. Great friendly service from Josh and the chef, relaxed vibe and happy times
