Vedi in Derby

I go to Vedi quite regularly, normally with my husband but the last time I went alone. It was really quiet and my food and drinks came to my table really quick. I had scrambled tofu and avocado on toast - it was really tasty - will definitely have again. The coffee is always good. Sometimes the wait can be really long if they are busier, even just for drinks. The staff are always friendly.

The atmosphere, service and people were no doubt very friendly. However the quantity of food has decreased in comparison to when the previous owner was running this business - especially the monty's breakfast is not worth the money.

I went here for lunch with a friend. Conveniently located between Derbion and the station. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Warm and cozy on a very chilly day! The staff were very friendly. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. They didn’t rush us out when the place closed. Really enjoyed my visit. Will definitely go back!

Researched online beforehand, clearly stated Xmas hours, and that they were closed until Monday 1st. Tuesday 2nd, we went to a lot of effort to get there (long story), but it was closed, even though the poster on the door said same Xmas hours as I’d previously seen online. Reluctantly walked back into the shopping centre in the pouring rain to get mediocre vegan food from non-vegan restaurant.

Favourite coffee stop in Derby. We wish we were hungry as menu loins delicious. Good coffee. Lovely helpful staff. Very chilled and clean and relaxed.

We read about Vedi as we passed by Derby when looking online for a nice plant-based cafe to have lunch. In what at first appeared to be an out of the way location, we soon found Vedi (from the word: Ayurvedic) and delighted at the aromas and simple but effective decor. Although for the most part empty of other customers, service was quite slow, but turned out to be well worth the wait. The omelette and Buddah bowl were delicious. The owner was very friendly and helpful. It may be worth phoning ahead to check on their opening hours as they appear to change, and may not be accurately detailed on their website or on Google. Our only disappointment was learning that they do offer cows milk 'as an option', which for what we believed to be a vegan, plant based cafe, didn't sit well with us. Other than that. Highly recommended, but not if you're in a hurry.

Fabulous. I’m not vegan but enjoy fresh flavourful food and good coffee and cake. Would highly recommend to everyone who enjoys tasty food. The ‘omelette’ made with chickpeas was beyond words delicious. I can’t eat real cheese any more and often find vegan cheese to be very gluey when melted - this wasn’t and really tasted like actual cheese. Cant upload a photo - an empty plate isn’t attractive!

We had a short stop here for great take away sandwiches. The service was very friendly and the sandwiches very tasteful.

Just a short walk from the centre of Derby, this is a really lovely vegetarian restaurant, with very friendly staff and delicious food. My wife and I ordered the Buddha bowls, which we could not have enjoyed more - we thought the broccoli was exceptional.

Unexpected stop in Derby city centre due to car difficulties, wanted a coffee and rather than go to the obvious, I felt I would give Verdi a go. Walked past so many times but never ventured in until today. Both my son and I have been amazed by the cakes and coffee (& baby chino) , friendly staff and very good value for money. I won’t be walking past again. Amazing job guys, can’t recommend enough

Extremely slow service. Waited 35 mins for a very basic falafel wrap and a panini. 3 staff on , 7 people in cafe. One woman waited 15 mins for a latte ! Would not recommend. Food was distinctly average. Place was clean ,but that's all I have to say

I’ve become a little bit of a regular to Vedi whenever I’m in Derby. When visiting, I’m a self diagnosed Banana Oat Shake addict and it often takes more willpower than I have to only have 1… I’ve had breakfast burritos, salad bowls, smoothie bowls, oat shakes, special Vedi chai tea… as well munching my way through a number of the vegan bakes provided to Vedi by Clemie’s Vegan Bakes. Every single thing here is utterly delicious. The staff are warm and welcoming. The cafe has a lovely, warm and homely atmosphere and has all sorts of seating from a sofa and comfy chairs to standard table and chairs; and stools and high tables. Vedi is a vegan haven, with everything vegan by default. Should a non-vegan visit then there are dairy options available for them to choose on ordering (such as dairy milk, butter). If you haven’t been here yet, you are missing out on some of the best vegan food in Derbyshire hands down. Thanks for having me as always, see you next time I’m in the city.

I happened to park outside this place and I always support vegan so called in for a cuppa! Lovely atmosphere, good selection of food, drinks. Ordered a soya mocha which was absolutely lovely. Glad to have found this little gem of a place.

This place has such a lovely selection of food, all made by them, you will be spoilt for choice, I know we were! I had the green shake because I'm obsessed with broccoli, it's was so fresh, zesty and delicious, my partner had a coffee which he said was perfect We had a Elderflower Kombucha to share to have with our meal. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of the food as I was far too happy eating it all I had the avocado panini, it was great. For dessert we had cookie crumble slice and millionaire shortbread, they were scrumptious. So we decided to take 2 more cakes for home, the brownie and the viennese whirl. They were so lovely, all the cakes are vegan so I was spoilt for choice 10/10 can't wait to go back

A fabulous vegan eatery just a stones throw from the centre of Derby. Nicely decorated (love the pictures) and with a nice atmosphere. Lots of tempting dishes to choose from. Opted for a breakfast cob and a panini - both were really tasty. And just had to try a beetroot latte! Also recommended is the cookie dough dessert if you have a sweet tooth, delicious! Do go and support this independent business, they do a great job.

A warm welcome from the staff/owners in this bright, airy and comfortable eatery. We had the salad bowl with mixed vegetable bhaji and a chickpea and vegetable burrito. Fresh, flavoursome, colourful and great tasting food. Liked the sign outside Vedi – show your body and soul some love (& the planet!) GO VEGAN!

After being introduced to Vedi by my Father (he a vegan and myself a lifelong vegetarian), he and I decided to go there for a spot of late brunch. We both had the ‘Full Monty’, which was absolutely delicious! The tofu was so flavourful and scrumptious. I’ve never had such beautiful tasting tofu. The service/staff are always so welcoming, warm and accommodating. I have since visited numerous times and have raved about the place to friends and family encouraging them to go and taste it for themselves. Absolutely beautiful!

Extremely limited opening hours. This was our favourite go to place for breakfast. Went today and it only opens for lunch. So disappointing because the food and service is exceptional - when it's open

Stumbled a cross this delightful cafe by accident. Social distancing, track and trace and well, everything was spot on. Friendly staff and comfortable seating. Very wheelchair friendly and all areas fully accessible. The dipping sauce that came with the samosas was good enough to drink....

Great selection of veggie and vegan food! Samosas were amazing, and the vegan burrito was huge and really tasty. Being picky, the flat white coffee we had wasn’t a proper flat white (no micro foam) - but that was the only (minor) blip. And it was nice nonetheless. Good prices and really friendly staff. Visited here for the first time (10/11) with a friend and my 5 year old! As soon as you walk in, you can feel what a relaxing welcoming vibe Vedi has, and the food smelt amazing too. We ordered two large vegan hot chocolates and bought a bottle of juice for my Son, the drinks were very reasonably priced, and the hot chocolates were amazing - even if they did take a little while to make, but apart from that we couldn’t fault the service. We grabbed a couple of samosas each to take away and a vegan sausage roll for my little boy, which he loved and he’s extremely fussy with food at times, the samosas came with the most amazing ‘chutney’ which was more like a dip, but complemented the samosas very well. Will definitely be heading back to sample their food menu at some point, but would definitely recommend visiting if you don’t enjoy the hustle and bustle in places like costa, and just want a chilled out place to sit and enjoy a nice drink. A must visit!

Another good business lunch had at Vedi. The team went for a mix of sweet baked potatoes and Roti rolls, and a number of specialty teas and coffees. All really tasty and the staff are always lovely and pleasant. Only comment would be, we preordered food well over an hour before arriving, due to food freshness I understand they may not have prepped most of it, but none of it seemed to be ready and we waited over 30 mins from arriving for our food. In a cafe we thought this was a tad too much, but this time we weren’t in a rush. Other times we have been, and would’ve left before food arrived.

We were heading to the football and stumbled upon this place not far from the train station. It was excellent.. great choice of foods and treats. Lovely coffees, cakes, sandwiches , tasty meals and smoothies. Staff friendly and quick service.

After visiting Derby many, many times we found this lovely vegan eatery totally by accident whilst doing a dry run to find the railway station.

I came across this place when walking to Derby Station to get a delayed train. Very tasty Indian brunch/lunch spot - highly recommend popping in. It's fully accessible, with an amply-sized disabled toilet too.

Friendly staff, fully wheelchair accessible with step free access and disabled toilet. Yummy food with good choice too.

A wonderful little cafe, great ambiance (music and furniture), family run business with extremely friendly and kind staff. My mother and I felt really welcomed and taken care of, and the food.. really really tasty. We loved the homemade vegan burger, light and delicious.The açai bowl, something very rare to find but extremely tasty and you could tell that the food is prepared with love and passion. We will definitely return soon and I recommend this place to anyone who wants to taste something home-made, healthy, light and perhaps something a little different from the usual menus.

Been a couple of times. The most delicious food! Being vegan in Derby isn't easy and having a lovely and incredibly clean cafe is amazing. We always note how clean and lovely it is! The vegan burrito and roti wrap are super tasty , as are the spicy potatoes! Coffee is great too :)

It’s so nice to have a place like this in Derby! A great balance of choice on the menu, fantastic selection of hot and cold drinks, vegan cakes as well! The food was really good, I’m thoroughly looking forward to returning for breakfast and to try some more dishes!

We visited Vedi on Tuesday 19th February. It was wonderful. The staff were really friendly, the decor is fun and cosy, and the food was absolutely delicious. We were spoilt for choice, just so many excellent options, all looked and smelt great. Also loads of cakes, sweet treats and hot drinks to choose from after our main course. Fantastic place to grab some food or drink. The menu is delicious and well-priced, and there are plenty of options to suit all tastes (the roti wraps and jacket potatoes are especially good!) - with a large selection of hot drinks that can be made with dairy or non-dairy milks. Great atmosphere and location (less than 5 mins walk into main shopping centre and train station). The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming and they freshly prepare their food with care and attention. A great addition to Derby city centre, and great place to eat whether you're veggie/vegan or not!

We decided on the vegan burrito (from the all-day breakfast section) and the marinated tofu wrap with added hummus. To give a balanced view of both, we halved and shared each one. Couldn't decide which one was best as they were both delicious ( agreed by the other half who is a meat-eater, I'm vegetarian). As time was a bit limited the cake option will have to save until the next visit.

I don’t often visit Derby and when I do it’s always just a walk between the station and courthouse for work. Today I chanced upon Vedi and noted it was vegan. Made a mental note to stop there after court. I was not disappointed. A smiling and friendly welcome and a great chai latte got me off to a good start, followed by the vegan roti wrap.

Walk past this place on my way to the train station and often want to pop in but never have time. I finally had chance and had the vegan burrito to takeaway and it was very tasty. Wish I had time to stay longer and will definitely be bringing my family to try the food. Newly vegan it's very nice to visit somewhere where food is clearly and obviously vegan friendly. What a fabulous addition to the Derby cafe/restaurant scene. Smiling staff are always a winner with me and that's what you get in bucket's here. Well laid out, lovely decoration, spotlessly clean, decent menu and well priced, you cannot lose. Food is tasty and looks good on the plate with quick and efficient service from the staff who are excellent. Plenty of parking on the surrounding roads/car parks.

We visited this fabulous new vegetarian and vegan restaurant for lunch and what a lovely place . Very friendly staff and the food is delicious at such reasonable prices . We had lovely hot Lattes and the Roti Wrap which was so nice , There is an excellent choice on the menu , well worth a visit , parking outside and a very short walk from the Intu Centre .

Having passed this little place many time I ventured into day with me Milk allergy child .
