Vaughans Wine Bar in Torbay

Went in after Easter came in through the back door ordered a sausage sandwich with a friend egg and a black coffee £7.20 not exactly cheap the view was awful just road works it was a chilly day so sat inside when the sausage sandwich arrived at the table it looked like the sausages were put in the microwave they were pale and hadn't been browned properly for £7.20 I thought it was bordering on being a rip off.

Lovely place and staff really good. But please sort the wine measures out. I asked for 25ml wine and soda which was great but the second time I was told they don’t do 25ml. Served me a 175ml and charged a £1 more. By law you need to do a 25ml, so please sort this. Still a great place in a great spot for view and sun.

I was the first customer of the day and they couldn't have been nicer to me. I just wanted a little something to tide me over, so I had the pancakes, which were delicious! Loved the outdoor seating, but I ate inside. It was much more spacious than I expected.

Visited for a cream tea. On a very wet afternoon. Thankfully they allowed dogs inside! Scones were really fresh, served warm. Really tasty, and will visit again

I was staying in a hotel on Babbacombe Road but room only no breakfast so used Vaughan's for my breakfast ordered Sausage and egg buns and a black coffee the buns had nice sausages in them and a great location looking over the harbour perfect 👌

The sausage and/or bacon rolls we so hot they had to be microwaved! The bacon was very fatty and of dubious quality - oj and double espresso good!! Get what you pay for I suppose!! A quicky to soak up the previous nights beer!!

We visited for breakfast for a few days, able to sit outside due to the weather. We enjoyed trying the reasonably priced full English and the breakfast baps and the coffee. Friendly staff.

We visit this bar quite often as we are local. What a great place! Location is perfect, food is fabulous and the staff and owner are fabulous. Even when they are busy, they always take the time to chat to you and make you feel welcome. Good prices for a harbour side location and great selection of drinks. Highly recommend and we wish John, Becky and the team all the best for the rest of the season!

We went here for breakfast and it was great. We sat outside. The weather was beautiful. Staff was kind. They weren't however able to swap an egg for a veggie sausage but they did swap it for a hashbrown. The food was nice. Definitely recommend it.

Dropped in for lunch. Lovely spot on Torquay harbourside where we could watch the world go by and enjoy the harbour view. Large seating area in the sun. Food and drink very good and value for money. Will definitely return.

Have always used Vaughans as our local and been regular visitors. However, the owners have changed, and they no longer serve Rattler Cider or have table service. We can cope without table service as understand that they may need to keep overheads down, but don't like the alternative cider, so we have moved to pastures new where the Rattler is flowing through the pumps... if they get it back, then we will also be back.

Service and place was great with friendly approachable staff.. Cream tea was delicious and scones were homemade. Thank you

Found this fantastic cafe/bar at the harbour. Fantastic and friendly service and the baguettes we ordered were delicious and a lovely strong cuppa. Highly recommend and we will return again

The first time we've been to Torquay and we stopped here for lunch, the sun was shining so we sat outside, the staff were great, it was quite busy but we were seated and served right away, we both had the wrap which was lovely and a pot of tea. We would definitely go back again, and highly recommend it

We found Vaughans Bar whilst ambling around. They only serve food until 3pm, so we had a drink the first day at the back of the building which is nice and quiet. The staff were consistently fab. So we returned for breakfast the following day....

Lovely location and GREAT staff which attracts a lovely clientele - and the music is brill. It also happens to be one of the few bars that has Raspberry gin - if you’ve not tried it, it’s a must.

What a fantastic little place! I visited twice during my long weekend stay and I couldn’t fault a thing. The staff were so welcoming, kind and friendly which put me at ease as I was there alone. I had breakfast both times and I wasn’t disappointed, especially because the chef was happy to do me poached eggs despite it being quite busy. Then there was the flat white! Literally the best flat white I’ve had in a very long time!! The location is beautiful too! Highly recommend and I will definitely be returning on my next visit :)

This place is a credit to Torquay - placed right on the harbour front staff are amazing and are prepared to have a laugh and take time to talk to you - even got a free biscuit with our coffee today no where else on the harbour gives you a free biscuit and the coffee is a good product. I did not eat here but the breakfast looked really good had we not had breakfast at the hotel we would have had food here. In the evening we had double gins and whiskey -you need to restock Torbay gin lol I wish I could name you all but I can’t remember all your names - keep up the hard work and keep doing what you do

Went to Vaughan’s twice on my break - one on my own for coffee and once for breakfast with my husband. Highly recommend. Staff were helpful and polite, food good and service quick. I don’t recognise the review posted recently about not treating people with respect - this was absolutely not my experience. Definitely worth a visit.

Vaughan’s is great value for money with a beautiful view but what steals the show is their diamond waiter, Ollie. Ollie was attentive, considerate, professional and had great banter. As it was my birthday, it’s fair to say our table was somewhat excitable, but Ollie kept up with us, remained light hearted and was an absolute pleasure. Would come back for Ollie alone. Service here is extremely horrendous would not suggest coming to this establishment at all many other bars in the Torquay to visit, my reasoning for not enjoying my visit has been because the older staff are ridiculously rude and arrogant, extremely judgmental and they do not know how to treat customers with and respect at all, very money hungry business indeed, fortunately I will no longer be making any visits to set place, I suggest if your in the area to go to another bar.

we only have coffee here- we supported them all through the lockdowns because they continued to be there for us all when most places had shut -did a fabulous job !! so we still do, and will continue to buy our coffee here !!

Visited twice at the start of the week, excellent service. Was served on both days by young members of staff who were most willing to help and very well mannered, couldn’t do enough for you. Reasonably priced and great views overlooking the marine.

I am presuming it was the owners I met in another bar as they were wearing Vaughan uniform. They were rude and arrogant, loved themselves. I am currently 6 and a half months pregnant on holiday with my family. Myself and my family entered a premises wearing face coverings for mine and my unborn child's safety. The women mocked us and laughed at us for wearing face coverings to walk through the bar to our seats. You think they would be promoting this for their staff and customers safety as the cases continue to rise in this area. Having read the reviews for Vaughans and seeing over 30 'terrible' and 'poor' and most for their attitude I'm not surprised by their behaviour. I'll be avoiding Vaughans at all costs!!

Vaughan’s is a great little bar on the harbour, great place to sit in the sun and people watch with lovely owners and excellent staff who work very hard. It didn’t matter when we stopped for a drink the staff were always cheerful and service was quick.Good variety of drinks especially Gins at a reasonable price.Highly recommend a visit

Witnessed 4 very holiday makers aged 64vplus who should know better sit themselves with fish and chips bought elswhere and buy nothing when asked to leave were very rude plenty of park benches to sit on staff were amazing this is to counteract their proposed revue on here pic of retreating pair very poor attitude to hard working staff

Spent a few days in torquay and always go to Vaughan bar. The staff are always friendly and very hard working. You can have a good laugh with them too. The sun was shining so the tables are nearly always full but we where lucky enough to always get one. Would totally recommend Vaughan. Relax and enjoy.

The staff at this pub are really friendly and try very hard to make your visit worth the visit. I often find pubs find my mobility scooter a problem as takes up space however this was not the case here. A particular staff member called Richard was extremely helpful and even made sure the chair he got for me had arms on it. It really makes a difference when someone shows they understand or are thinking of you with things like that. There was a good range of drinks and service was quick. The staff were constantly serving and helping people and even though all were wearing masks I get the feeling they were smiling.

Arrived for a quick drink before dinner, table & chairs were promptly sanitised for us and we were offered drinks menu. Our server was lovely, friendly but not too full on either. Chatted with us and offered recommendations for the next few days for local restaurants. Bar was well stocked and we enjoyed a lovely G&T and draft beer. We’ll definitely be back tonight for another visit! All staff were socially distanced, respectful of social space while also wearing masks and regularly cleaning down tables

A lovely welcoming atmosphere with all covid precautions in place without the “faff”... tables and chairs cleaned down in between customers... great to see even outside. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, bringing our dog water and treats without even asking. Very dog friendly and our Frenchie took advantage of sun bathing and being petted. The beers were great quality and price reasonable for the location. In fact the service was excellent with no messing around on APP’s. We felt human again!! One star lost on the toilets I’m afraid but a minor detail. Go and support the lovely bar on the harbour side.

we tried them all & this was the cheapest & best bar on the harbour. our round of drinks were £2 cheaper here than at Shiraz next door. All the staff were friendly & efficient.

I popped in on Monday June 28th at approximately 5pm and sat out the back where the sun was shining. The service was very good I must say. All staff were very attentive.Both young lads who served me were very good and a young lady who I now know to be called Alli (Allison) is a credit to this business. Nothing was too much trouble for her at all or any other staff member for that matter. She was fun and always had a smile on her face.I have now returned here on Tuesday the 29th and today Wednesday the 30th.From the man who telephoned you once or twice to bring me a beer to table 40 or 41 on Monday the 28th (5pm), made you laugh apprently.I recommend this to you all, service was first class and I will always return here.David

We have just had a fabulous long weekend in Torquay. I can highly recommend Vaughan’s Pub. All of the staff were very busy in hot weather but they were second to none. Not only did they give excellent service, they were very cheerful and helpful. We tried other pubs but kept go back there and received a warm welcome. Thanks all, we will be back x

After walking out of the adjacent bar we were served almost immediately in Vaughans. Friendly service. EXCELLENT WINE and reasonably priced. Even brought a dog bowl and treats for our dog. Winners all round.

We dropped into Vaughans today for a light lunch and it was really nice. The staff were very friendly and attentive, it was Covid secure and our sandwiches were really fresh, with a lot of filling and delicious. Lots of outside seating. We would highly recommend.

On a family holiday to Torquay and on the way to our dinner reservation we decided we would have a drink overlooking the harbour before eating. As we were going to be customers I walked into the bar were I was greeted with the most aggressive member of staff I have ever encountered in hospitality. The member of staff who I believe is called Alison shouted at me in front of the whole bar, telling me I need to ask permanent even if I am a customer. I explained that we will not be continuing to be a customer after been shouted at in front of people. The member of staff said “ Go on then..” .Outside I explained to my husband and 3 children, my youngest who is 8-years-old what had happened and that we will not be having a drink here. On the way past the side of the building the member of staff came charging out shouting at me again in front of my 3 children. I counted 4 times where I asked her to stop as my children are present. She told me she owned the land and I need to move on, which I was before she came chasing after me. She continued to follow us through the tunnel shouting at me, called for her colleague Darren who told her to stop and get in. My youngest daughter was terrified. I called the manager Adam on the telephone, who initially told me he was there and when I reminded him how many times I asked her to stop as my children were present he then told me he was on the phone. Although I was advise to call the police to report the incident, I just wanted to get out of there for my children’s sake. Both myself and husband are key workers and have worked throughout the pandemic and like I explained to Adam she could of respectfully asked me what we’ve she needed to do for a safety purpose but chasing me and shouting at me in front of my children is completely unacceptable! Adam assured me he would deal with it. She also told me if I post a review she will have it removed! The lady’s mental well-being needs reviewing! It is a toilet , you are at work, my children were present! Disgracefully behaviour! Do not go here with children. Their emotional well-being is at risk of unstable staff!

Jewel of Torquay. Services ce level is exceptional, never be lucky enough to have so many team members to look after their customers. Every pub And resuturant take note, service is key. Loved it and thank you for making our time away so much fun.

Nice bar and good service, only downside is the toilets that could do with updating and more frequent inspections on busy weekends.

What a lovely afternoon sat in the Sun. After a long walk by the sea, I stopped in for ‘a drink’ which soon turned into 3 thanks to the friendly and helpful staff. I happened to be on my own that afternoon and I was made to feel very welcome, the outdoor bar is the perfect pit stop for a refreshment after a day of shopping, sailing etc. A special shout out to Richard, very personable and professional, he clearly enjoys his job and takes pride in looking after his customers. I look forward to returning soon!

We visited Vaughan’s on Saturday lunchtime for a post shopping trip drink. Found a table and were greeted by a lovely waiter who was one of the friendliest we’ve come across in a while. One drink turned into two and having seen the food coming out we decided to order lunch. The waiter (called Richard I think), recommended the fish finger sandwich, my husband had the chicken wrap, both were delicious. It was our first visit to Vaughan’s, we’ll definitely be back very soon!

Came down to torquay for husbands 50th . First day this bar was packed and couldnt get a seat , soon found out why fantastic team of staff , food is spot on definitely will be back .locals and tourists enjoying the sunshine on the harbour .perfect .
