Varsity in Coventry

Came on a Saturday for dinner with the girls. The pizzas and burgers were divine, my friend had a chicken burger and said it was delicious while I had a pizza and it was lovely. Drinks were lush, we love an Old Mout and the Cherries and Berries was divine. Service was impeccable, bar staff were very chatty especially the manager Charley who had so much time for us and was very chatty and knowledgeable about what to order. Never been more welcomed by a member of staff. We will definitely be back, would strongly recommend this place to anybody!

The only place ill miss around campus.

I feel like I’ve never had chicken cooked properly until I came here. The food was of excellent quality, would 100% visit again. A nice relaxed atmosphere and great service from the staff too.

Weird experience shortly before Christmas that almost the only things available were off the vegan menu or a handful of meat products, seemed like as soon as the students left they were winding down stock.

Comfortable pub selling decent reasonably priced food. Free parking for customers.

Great service! Food was delicious! Will definitely recommend as staff went above and beyond for our table! Burgers were amazing, and the new Christmas meals are lovely!

Love this place, we come often and are always welcomed by the amazing staff. The lady with the orange streaks in her hair (Charley?) is amazing, always there to answer any questions we have with patience and a smile. She's a credit to the business, we come back for her! The other staff are great too. The food is really nice, the burger deals especially are appreciated. And the pizza is amazing - though I miss the Nice and Spicy pizza with the nduja! I wish they would bring it back!! The new Christmas gateaux is to die for, too. We'll be back before Christmas, that's for sure!

My dish was good but my husbands sausage could have been bounced off the floor and his medium steak was so tough his plate moved when he tried to cut it

Decent student pub which also serves non-students. £3.45 for a pint of coke. Fairly basic food menu but not too pricy. Ok place but wouldn't drive far to come here but convenient if you are near Warwick Uni campus. Baby change/disabled loo does not have a working lock!

Only popped in for a drink after a comedy show at Warwick art centre, but staff were friendly and the place looked welcoming and clean. 5 stars for fancy toilets 😆

Good atmosphere with decent music and pub grub offering free parking. They have few veggie options.

Service was bad: Sean, bald guy at the bar, lied about not doing take away service so that we stay and pay more. Asked for a refund, and only received a partial one because drink was already dispensed. Horrible experience, not worth it when there are plenty of other options in the area.

May be it’s just good for drink as & pubbing . Nut food is average . We ordered ham & cheese toast ( easiest amd nithing should go wrong ) but they served rock hard toast which was replaced on request . Just near Warwick university but definitely not worth it .

Some food quality's been really bad recently. Apparently they seem to cut costs. The chicken burger I had was like rubber and chips were cold and not tasty. Very disappointing.

Be careful when you get there do not pay for the carpark you can get a ticket at the bar

Typical pub vibes. Portion size for the sharing platter was very generous. Came during August holidays so it was very quite (no students)

Absolutely awful experience, staff extremely rude and stand off ish, like they don’t want to serve you, and talking about customers when they are in front of them, the food is mediocre at best and the drinks are okay, although a cocktail takes 25 mins to make

I had pizza with my family, it was really tasty, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the place is clean and tidy.

We often pop in for a drink and food as a family or with friends as the Varsity is walking distance from us. On a recent sunny day impromptu visit, I fell in love with the Pimm's pillows in their outside space and decided to send them a cheeky massage to try and purchase a couple for my summerhouse... I just wanted to say a heartfelt thanks to Rachel and Sean, who just made my day when they gave me a pair! It was sad to hear that so many people just help themselves to items from the pub unless it was nailed down. They are working hard to make the place look good and feel welcoming whilst delivering delicious food and drinks. People should not take away from their hard effors by helping themselves. Next time ask they might surprise you like they did with me!

Excellent at managing large bookings and staff were very patient dealing with individual requests. Please fix leaking sink in accessible toilet though.

The best dining experience I have had in a very long time! From the moment I called to book for 40 people, including 16 people using wheelchairs, everything was handled exceptionally. Team Varsity went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was perfect, from accessibility arrangements to pre-ordering meals and dietary requirements. They even helped us celebrate birthdays, making the event feel incredibly special. What truly stood out was how super organised and friendly the entire team was. The seamless coordination and attention to detail made our evening truly memorable. And the food... The delicious dishes served were truly the icing on the cake, leaving everyone thoroughly impressed and satisfied. A huge thank you to Team Varsity. I can't recommend this place enough for anyone looking for a venue that combines accessibility, exceptional service, and mouth-watering food.

Please don’t even try to eat its hamburgers. We were shocked at how poor its quality was and couldn’t finish it. Avoid.

Wife had what she described as " Chicken Tikka Masala Soup!! With a bone hard tiny Nan, 3 or 4 bits of chicken completed the whole sorry mess, not the staffs fault, they were first class, I had Steak pie which was quite good, Don't have the Chicken Curry!!

Great pub, fantastic selection of ales & craft beer. The fish and chips were tasty, hot & great value. Would 100% recommend.

Atmosphere was good. Food very disappointing. If you are staying on campus, go to the Dirty Duck which has better food at half the price.

Friendly staff. Good that it was open late (later than elsewhere) and still doing food after 21:00. Good that it has some proper ales on tap as well as the usuals.

Best pizza I have ever had! I was served by Saiorse, she was very attentive! Laura the chef made the pizza. Great choice of beers, my Moretti was lovely!

Parking is paid or else if you purchase you can get a cide for free parking.Drinks are on slightly exp side.

Absolutely shambolic, Doritos nachos priced at £6.99 despite being a single pack of Doritos topped with some salsa and jalapeños. Pints are priced the same as a shandy, which is ridiculous. Unfriendly staff .

Beautiful pub, very well managed with a fabulous team.

The man in the bar (a bald man) was so rude and not kind especially to the foreigners. This is not the right attitude to the customers. Been studying in the Warwick uni for 4 years and attending the graduation ceremony with my family. This guy really brought me bad experiences and ruined my mood :(

A lively pub. Service was excellent. Good choice of food and drinks. Good value. Typical pub food menu, no specials. Very convenient for a meal before our visit to Warwick Arts centre.

Nice place, food wasn't great, really friendly staff.

Sadly the food just isn't good quality. Had a breakfast here and sausage was rock hard. Poor quality. Had fish and chips which looks pretty bad but was edible. The hunters chicken was the worst I've ever tasted. The only nice part of the mixed grill was the steak and the chicken wings. I really want this place to be nice. They just need to buy better quality ingredients and get a good chef to cook them.

I’ve been there on Saturday with friends, rump steak and burger were tasty and good. But stuff weren’t polite, especially guys in a bar. You should also be more precise in the information you provide in the menu about shots.

Food was really good and the price was quite reasonable considering we ordered a fair bit. The service was quick and every one was really nice. Using the app to order was a bit annoyed but we didn't have to do it the staff were happy to take our order. Over I was really have with the pub, it was a nice build and a great experience. Great job to all the staff!

Very unfriendly male staff at bar counter, When I tried to say hello and asked where to get my parking voucher, he very rudely refused to speak to me, shook his head and walked away. I’m very depressed to be treated like this. The food and drink was excellent but the ending is just very disappointing.

Had a lovely meal here with friends, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our food very much & thought it was very good value. The parking is free for customers, you need to get a QR code from the bar before you leave.

I like the ambience at the Varsity, I also like the food and the variety of drinks. The staff are very friendly and helpful. So, if you're looking for somewhere to meet a colleague, or friend for a chat, especially during the day, then I highly recommend this venue.

Food has completely changed. Tasteless Rump steak ever I had, as a chef myself, this Rump steak was cooked two months ago and they reheated it in the microwave, need to find somewhere else in the area. don’t want to waste my money in this place.

The place itself wasn’t bad but the nachos and Guinness I had were awful and the menu wasn’t especially varied. Wetherspoons quality food. The bathrooms were nice however and the wait/bar staff were also lovely and pleasant.

Quality of the food very poor, no taste, served in a messy way. Pub not very clean, tables and menus sticky and dirty. Never again!

This is a lovely little place if you want to get a quite drink or spend time chatting with your friends. You can take your dog and sit in the lovely outside area. Staff are friendly and polite.

Great place to have breakfast with relations attending Warwick university. A short walk from the Scarman conference centre, a hearty affordable meal, in an affable environment, served by cheerful and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

If you're ordering the burger bring a hacksaw.

Visited last night for Valentines, the service was amazing and quick. The atmosphere was lovely, we loved the pink lighting and valentines touches. Waitresses Saiorse and Zo were so attentive and really made our visit special. Thank you for your amazing hospitality!

Came here while the wife was at the arts centre good section of beers very nice friendly staff picked up hhe wife and came back had cheese burger and wife had lasagna both delicious then sticky toffee pudding lovely thanksyou.

I came in for some food on Valentine’s Day, the food came out quickly and was lovely. The atmosphere was nice, I primarily was served by Saiorse and Zo, they were very welcoming and friendly, I especially liked that they put a lot of effort into Valentine’s Day theme by wearing pink, their makeup was lovely also! It made it feel accommodating to us on date night, would recommend this pub! Overall all lovely experience!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. It was fairly quiet and although we booked we didn’t need to. Ordered on the app, came really quickly. We didn’t have our dog with us, but there were other dogs there so it’s a dog friendly pub. Food was good.

Food was good, portions are big enough. However the service is awful, especially tall bald man who was standing at bar, probably the “manager” of this pub. We came to have a dinner with 1.5 years old son and my husband. It is January outside and cold. I asked at the bar for warm tap water for baby, but this man stopped waitress when she wanted to give the water to me and whispered smth. After that she said that i have to pay for hot water 0.10£ and poured me 1/3 of cup of hot water. I spent almost 50£ for dinner in less than 1h of staying in bar and you charge for a glass of warm tap water for the baby?! That’s insane. Also he was keep telling “in this country you have to say…”. I just dont want to comment this….. The awful service. It is better to change that arrogant man.

Asked for blue steak. Totally overcooked. This is unusual as they usually get it right.

The vibe of this pub is quite good. The food's normal. Service was okay.

Food was good. Woman with short brown hair (who also has another bad review) has an awful attitude. Zero customer service skills, spoke very rudely and snappy like we forced her to work there. Ruined the visit as me and all my other friends were just talking about how rude she is the whole time.

Really poor. This place used to have a half decent selection of drinks and you got the sense there was a manager that was invested in doing something beyond selling drinks and food. Very much not the case anymore. Staff seemed largely disinterested and pretty hatful of customers as they shouted at paying patrons to “get out of the way” and on one occasion “just sit down”. It would be useful for them to be reminded they work in a pub not a restaurant, and that there are other ways to pass standing drinkers to deliver food. A further option might be opening one of the needlessly closed walkways between the two rooms. Hugely unimpressed with the slip from enjoyably decent, to a chain I’d rather avoid.

Great fun place with good staff. Was there for an get together and some food. Have a great time with friends and staff.

Relaxing ambience with good food

Rude service that doesn’t allow people bring their own drink to the restaurant. I can’t imagine that in our campus, they can say such a word disturbing personal freedom. It is the people’s own right to bring what they would like to bring. Last time, the lady didn’t allow me to have a bottle, this time the male waiter didn’t allow me to have my own drink here. For the reply, I just want tell you it is my freedom!

Don't eat the hamburger meat, if they can call it that. How is that considered food?

Impromptu visit during storm Babet to miss weather and traffic. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was excellent and a nice relaxing atmosphere. Will visit again. Note parking is free with a voucher from the pub.
