Vapiano Manchester in Manchester

I’ve been coming to Vapiano for years, but I’ve never experienced anything as bad as this! Infact I’m still in the restaurant and it’s that bad I’m leaving the review before I’ve even left. The pasta is bland tasteless and so soggy and over cooked. No way is this pasta cooked fresh. I ordered penne and it is flat! Please see added photos - has anyone ever seen Penne this flat and soggy before?! It’s obviously pre cooked & pre packed then microwaved. Horrible! I ordered it with added red onion, which was white onion and in big big chunks. The added chilli was also in chunks and not diced either. It actually resembled a ready meal from Iceland Seriously don’t waste your money coming here, it’s complete garbage I spoke to what looked like the manager and asked if the cooking methods had changed and he said not at all! I said how come the Penne is flat and soggy and he said it’s the cooking ‘method’ and nothing has changed. I found him very arrogant and uninterested and clearly not telling the truth I’m sat here in a completely empty restaurant, which I think speaks for itself After years of coming here I will not be coming again.

Absolutely dreadful. Went as a couple for a meal before the Bryan Adams gig. We didn’t mind the order and pay by the app as more and more businesses are signing up to this however the food was possibly some of the worst we have ever eaten out. We both had pasta dishes (it is a pasta and pizza restaurant) but my spaghetti arrived and when I went to put some on my fork the entire contents of the bowl was on the end of my fork because it was so overcooked and had gone sticky and dry. My husband’s penne tubes were no longer tubes but flat because they too were so overcooked. Fortunately the helpful waiter working there refunded both of our mains which I was grateful for but tbh it did ruin our dining out. I would never go back there. It was truly awful.

Mi comida fue devuelta dos veces y todavía estaba fría. La peor comida de nuestro viaje a Manchester. El personal está desinteresado. ¡Nunca más!

Food was mid, waited nearly 15 mins after the mains come for the rest of the food, service was none existent, no check backs barely any acknowledgment that we were there, wouldn’t recommend

Awful service! Our starters came out WELL after our mains had been finished. Took over half hour for our starters to be brought out. We asked for our starter to be refunded as a result which they kindly did. Pasta also being cooked in same pan as other dishes. I had bits of mushroom in my dish, my ordered item didn’t consist of it at all! Risk of cross contamination. Don’t recommend if you have allergies! We addressed it with the manager and she asked us to specify it online pre ordering regarding allergies. When we reviewed the website again, there isn’t any sections to note allergies so that felt a bit redundant. The recipes of a lot of pasta dishes have changed which is sadly a reason why we won’t be visiting Manchester Vapianos again. Poorly run, changed recipes and risk of cross Contamination!!!

Ahora bien, es cierto que no he salido a cenar en un tiempo, pero si esto es lo que es ahora, entonces prefiero cocinar en casa. Nos recibieron y nos dijeron nuestras opciones de mesa por el servidor. Nos sentamos (en una mesa extraña con cosas atornilladas en el medio que significaban que apenas podía ver a mi hijo al otro lado) y ella preguntó, en casi un susurro si habíamos estado antes. Ella explicó el sistema de pedidos de códigos QR, pero me negué a usarlo y dijo que vendría y tomaría nuestro pedido. Ella nunca volvió y finalmente tuvimos que llamar a alguien. La señora que vino no tenía ni idea de cómo manejar el iPad con el sistema de pedidos en él. Tomó la orden de mi madre y luego le pidió bebidas y tuve que decir que quería comida. Ella dijo que lo haría después de las bebidas (bizzare pero ok). La comida salió como 3 pedidos separados - Estoy bien con mis hijas primero, ya que espero que las comidas de los niños sean primero, pero no espero una espera entre mi principal y mi madre principal saliendo de la cocina. Cuando el servidor lo sacó me trajo la pizza y luego se fue a otra mesa a entregar otra, nada que decir cuando mi mamá podía esperar la suya. Pedí una pizza de pollo. Leyendo el menú sonaba delicioso - salsa verde, barbacoa harissa, ajo y pollo de romero. Lo que obtuve no fue en absoluto lo que se describió. Era una margarita que estaba empapada en el medio, 6 pequeños trozos de pollo que definitivamente no sabían a ajo o romero, pesto que es completamente diferente a la salsa verde y un pequeño chorrito de algo marrón que supongo que se suponía que era la harissa de barbacoa pero no sabía a absolutamente nada. Tan decepcionante como la descripción en el menú sonaba fantástico. Pedí un cóctel con frambuesas frescas, limonada y ginebra. Sabía muy bien, pero tenía muy poca o muy diluida ginebra en él. Cuando llegamos a irnos, tuvimos que pedirle a alguien después de unos 15 minutos una factura. En general, la comida era sosa y el servicio era inexistente. Realmente espero que cuando mi madre pagó la factura se negó a pagar el cargo por servicio que parece añadirse a las órdenes del código qr

The server was very rude from the second we walked in. He asked if we could speak English, before we even spoke and proceeded to gesture the seat numbers before he even gave us a chance to say anything else. We walked out instantly. Very rude. Please have better customer service.

Excellent ambience and food too

no una experiencia agradable, llegamos, nadie nos saludó, nos mostró a una mesa o bien ofreció un menú o explicó el proceso. Pero nos encontramos con una mesa, y pedimos. primero vinieron las bebidas, el orden no era correcto demasiadas bebidas llegaron, no es un problema importante, pero luego el pedido de comida. éramos 2 de nosotros en la fiesta, una comida llegó poco después de las bebidas, la segunda comida llegó 20 minutos después, mientras esperamos le preguntamos a la camarera si había un problema y le explicamos que hubiéramos preferido comer juntos, ella nos miró en blanco pero no ofreció ninguna recompensa por el retraso, la comida era de mala calidad, en general no una experiencia positivapobre

Absolutely outstanding service and food! I have never tried food such precisely cooked and delicious. The staff was exceptionally professional and kind. The food came really fast and I enjoyed every single bite! I have never had such a delightful experience with my friends and I will definitely be coming back for more. I highly recommend to everyone looking for a good Italian cuisine and tasty pizza. A perfect meal for the perfect occasion, thank you for this memorable experience!

They didn't serve my drinks 30 mins after ordered .. I got my mains with out drinks and finally I got my drinks... they forgot my starter i reminded them they brought the wrong one and I had to reminded them again ... we paid the bill.. they brought my starter at last just before leaving.. rude staff asked we still need our starters that we paid for which is ridiculous 🙄 never coming back again

Enjoyed a nice meal. I ordered a margarita and an inch’s cider. Service was straight forward ordered on the app with 15mins Jimil delivered our food to the table. We sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere. Jimil came back while we were midway through our food and asked if everything was alright with the food. He was very polite and professional. I would recommend trying out this restaurant.

Food was nice, service was ok, just so you know, the waiter shared some info, they weigh out 18 grams of chicken for the chicken Alfredo Which apparently amounts to 4/5 pieces in the picture, pretty sure for a £14.00 meal they could be a little more generous to their customers Tasted nice though

The pasta is fresh, and while all the dishes were decent, none of them really stood out — fair taste, not bad but not particularly impressive. We chose this place for the lovely interior, and it didn’t disappoint. The space is nicely renovated with a chill, bright, and quiet vibe that made the meal feel relaxed and enjoyable.

Antony was prlfwssional, friendly and attentive to our requests but not intrusive.

Food was ok service was so bad and slow took 1 hour for food to arrive and it was a Sunday evening so was not particularly busy. Loads of items on menu were out of stock and the prices is not justifiable. The flavors are good but gone down hill so much

Sad to say, but vapiano has really gone downhill in the last 5 years. As a neurodivergent person with particular eating preferences, I really loved how you could customise the meals and I still felt like a normal diner with the rest of my group. But the portions are now smaller, customisable options are getting fewer and fewer, cheese much less generous, and tomato 'sauce' has gone from a lovely smooth recipe to basically chopped tomatoes. Texture is a big deal for me - so I spend most of the meal picking around my food. I wish it would go back to what it was a few years ago!!

This review is quite late but I have to mention Pooja was incredibly helpful. Especially after finding out I had allergies. She immediately brought her manager over so I can order under the allergy menu. I got looked after really well. Thank Pooja and the team :)

Our experience at this restaurant was wholly disappointing, and I would not recommend it. It was our first visit, and from the start, things were off. We were seated without any explanation or greeting, and then had to wait over an hour for our drinks to arrive. By the time they finally showed up, some of our starters had already been served - though several were missing. When the wine bottles eventually arrived, they came without glasses or coolers, which felt completely carless. Our main courses were served at staggered times, and the food was average at best - certainly not worth the wait. To make matters worse, I had to get up multiple times to request basic things like placing an order, and even had to fetch our own wine glasses. If the restaurant's intention is to provide a "laid-back, as-and-when-ready" experience, it is sorely lacking in execution. The service was disorganised, unprofessional, and frustrating, and there was no effort to manage the situation or keep us informed. I strongly suggest the restaurant reconsider accepting large group bookings if they cannot handle them appropriately. The lack of coordination and attention to detail was glaring, and it left us feeling deeply dissatisfied. This could have been a much more enjoyable experience with better service and a little more care.

I have been to Vapiano restaurants around the world . I was surprised by this branch that is has a different concept. Usually at Vapiano you go to the chef on the desk and order and take a card and just tap it to add it on ur order You go to different sections Insalata , soup , pasta ,.Pizza and watch each station cook your dish . While in this branch you order as in any restaurant . Different vibes .

I had smoked salmon, but the portion was too small for the price. I expected at least a piece of salmon fillet for that cost. Instead, they just scattered pieces of salmon over the penne.

Booked a table for my daughter’s 18th. When we got there you can just walk in and get a table then order via the app. Told a member of staff we’d booked but still shown a table and told to order via app. Couldn’t find what we wanted so asked and told they had no lasagna! On a Saturday.night at 8.15!?! We got up and left

Me and my friend came to Vapiano for dinner. We ordered the beef Bolognese which was absolutely delicious. Julian served us and he was fantastic. He was very helpful and friendly too . The service was amazing and the food came quickly too. Would definitely recommend!

the pasta alfredo was abit dry and the pasta had some undercooked pasta but we enjoyed the rest our server labiba was really good and helped us and was very attentive and listened to our concerns

Wont be rushing back. Went in on a Friday afternoon for a couple of salads which we ordered on the app. Added the side of ciabatta to them as part of the lunch menu. The bread didn’t come out with the salads so left it a few mins before we went in and asked if they could kindly bring it out. Was told it was on the way. Waited a few more mins and it still didn’t come. By this time we’d pretty much finished so went in and asked for a refund of the bread out of principle since we hadn’t had it. Had to wait another 10 mins for the refund. No apology and it wasn’t even that busy at the time, as 3 or 4 of the staff were chatting at the end of the bar. When clearing away the team member asked how our pastas were which was ironic as we’d had salads. Food was ok but nothing special. Certainly don’t expect amazing service for a causal lunch but some attempt at average service would be good. Much better options in Manchester to grab a bite at at and that’s what we’ll do in future.

2 of us ordered separately through the QR code, one pizza came after 20 mins, a side of garlic bread came after 30 and no second pizza. Garlic bread tasted ok, not much of a topping, mainly bread. Asked where the pizza was after 40 mins,the waitress disappeared to the kitchen then came back but stayed behind the bar for another 10 mins, had to ask a second time, went back to the kitchen and was told that the order hadn’t gone through - even though the beers and garlic bread had come through fine… and it was in my email confirmation. Service very poor, not friendly, no real apology. Offered full refund by manager (the only good bit) which takes 24-48 hours - happy to take my money straight away though. Fed up of these pay before it arrives places. Won’t be going back. Also very expensive for what it is. £30 for a beer pizza and garlic bread.

Awful service, 1 dish came out 5 min after ordering then other dishes came 35 min later. Didn’t get the drinks until we got our food. Then had to wait another 30 min for 2 drinks after to come to which we had to then have as a take out drink.

Juan in Vapianos manchester made the best pasta we have genuinely had. He was so accomodating and it was truly the best service. We even asked him to make the pasta extra saucy and he made it to perfection. We will definitely be back! If you want the best authentic pasta this is the place.

I ate with a friend in Vapiano on 12th March. We enjoyed two plates of delicious pasta and had excellent service from our waitress, Pooja, who happily took our order so that we did not have to navigate ordering via the QR code.

This restaurants provides fresh, made to order good food. The pasta was delicious and you’re able to taste the freshness. The garlic bread, although good k, I wouldn’t order again and you’ll get full before your food comes out!

Service was poor. Starters arrived and while we were eating them, the mains arrived in drip feed. No one ate at the same time. Chicken dishes arrived and contained only 5 small pieces. When I complained I was told that company policy was for "60g" per portion. So £15.25 for pasta in passata. Then, after offering a refund for the "chicken", which didn't exist, the "manager" made disparaging comments and disappeared. Unaware that one of our party could lip read. When this was mentioned, the server who was sent over said it was said in private and was not for our ears!! IN SUMMARY: SHOCKING SERVICE, POOR FOOD, STAFF UNTRAINED IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NO ONE PREPARED TO ACT AS A MANAGER WHEN A COMPLAINT WAS RAISED.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a cozy Italian restaurant, and I have to say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. I opted for the classic spaghetti bolognese, and it was hearty, with tender meat and just the right balance of seasoning. The pasta itself had that perfect al dente texture, making each bite enjoyable. My dining companion chose the fettuccine alfredo, which was creamy and indulgent, without feeling too heavy. As for the pizza, it was one of the best I've had in a long time. The crust was thin, crispy, and slightly charred at the edges, giving it that authentic wood-fired taste. Topped with fresh ingredients like basil, mozzarella, and a perfectly tangy tomato sauce, the pizza was a true standout. The flavors melded together wonderfully, and each slice was a little piece of heaven. But what truly elevated the experience was the service. Our waitress, Anna, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She made excellent recommendations and checked in on us just the right amount, ensuring we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Her warm personality made the evening feel even more special, and it's clear she genuinely cares about her customers' experiences. Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Italian flavors and top-notch service. I'll certainly be coming back soon — especially if Anna is working!

We discovered the Vapiano chain about two years ago in Vienna, and even then we thought it was very good and different. The ordering system has changed since then, but the quality of the product and the service remain excellent, as we remember. In Manchester, we were served by Anna, who was very attentive.

Very high improvement in the service. I came today and it’s much better since the last time I visit. Customers are allowed to set at any floors and the service was great. Before we use to be restricted from setting upstairs. Especially that the upstairs seating is very beautiful especially in sunny days I am glad the resturant allow this option. The food was good I was served by Juan whom was very professional and always doubled check if I need anything. Also, the manager was very professional and always checking up if customers need anything. I am very happy that the resturant improved a lot since my last visit few months ago, and more options in seating upstairs are available compare to before. Keep up the good work.

Aside from the tasty food, I thought the staff/service was 1st class. I don’t usually complete surveys, but I wanted to complete one here. The reason was the staff reaction to me accidentally spilling a large glass of red wine on the table. It was early on Saturday evening at the Manchester branch when it was busy. Without fuss, the staff member, Rooja and others reacted superbly by cleaning the table and mopping the floor immediately. It was an awkward moment for me, but I felt at ease by Rooja. Without hesitation, the staff replaced my glass of wine. I am very grateful for their outstanding customer service. They were a credit to Vapiano. My wife and I will definitely be returning.

Absolutely awful. Food was cold and bland, and the service was appallingly slow. It’s also expensive for the quality of food. You’d honestly have a better pasta dish if you go to the Coop over the road and get one of the ready made pasta pots. Genuinely awful. Please avoid
