Wow an amazing place gone past few times then went in,what a selection of different foods some couldn't even pronounce,amazing cheese,wine,meat pasta wow.really.will.go.there again I bought pasta, ingredients for Italian sauce, Italian meat made beautiful pasta Bolognese,sounds simple it was just the flavours were excellent

Hi, I'm an occasional customer and like so many others, marvel at the authentic high quality Italian delicacies you stock. However the last two times was a forgettable experience as the two girls who billed my items were utterly disengaged, in a rush to get the transaction over with and did not encourage questions about any products I may have been interested in. There was zero eye contact and a mechanical dismissal disguised as a "bye". It all sounded so fake. This silent, anti-social treatment is akin to emotional abuse. I do hope you train these girls properly in conduct. Thank you for reading. Best wishes for 2025.

Visitamos la parte de la tienda del negocio hoy. ¡Qué gran hallazgo! La comida estaba muy bien, un montón de elección y muy bien decorado. El personal era fantástico. Sacaron una rampa para mi compañero que es usuario de silla de ruedas. Hay un ascensor de escaleras a la zona de la cafetería, si usted es capaz de transferir a ella. Muy ocupado y apretado cerca del mostrador, pero vale la pena apretar.

I did an online order that I had to change from pick-up to delivery, girls changed it for me and warned it may not be delivered before Christmas…….but today 21/12/24 it has arrived with recipient!! Totally delighted with the service. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Quite an old fashioned Italian food store. Many of the products are very high quality and hard to find in UK. The downside, the prices are absolutely mental

Such a wonderful place - we travel up from Yorkshire just to dine here as a pre-Christmas treat. The food and wine are superb and the service is excellent. The staff throughout the shop couldn't have been more helpful.

Oh, how blessed is Edinburgh to still have Valvona and Crolla!- after 90 years. We have been clients of the shop for a long time but never eaten in the cafe. So delightful, authentic Italian cooking. Not a pizza in sight. 'Simple' menu so carefully cooked. Brilliant. We brought home some polenta tarts from the deli-- quite amazing. There's nowhere like it.

This place is like a little piece of Italy in the heart of Edinburgh. Lunch here is so so good! The Orange Polenta cake is out of this world.

The place is massive and has all things Italian. Found my favourite Amaro there and I’d like to come back to eat at their restaurant.

It’s always a treat to go to V and C, this time before the theatre. The service was very attentive and cheerful. The linguine was excellent. We even squeezed in a dessert - yum.

I think this is the most fashionable Italian grocery store in Edinburgh. You can also eat at the back of the store ♫ The food was more average than I expected, but the atmosphere was great! ! We have a variety of Italian foods such as cheese, prosciutto, olive oil, and pasta. It's a little pricey, but just looking at the products in the store makes me feel happy.

Did not eat here but went to see the Delicatessens it was absolutely fabulous, definitely worth the visit. Would go back.

I love this place I'm like a kid in a sweet shop, it's for everything you need to feel transported to Italy. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. It has it all, fresh Italian produce, best imported produce, books, cooking utensils, herbs, spices, fruit, meats cheeses, wine, oils, a café, coffee roasted in house. Everything, pasta machines too.

Me gusta todo lo que V&C ha hecho a lo largo de los años, echo de menos el Vin Caffe en Multrees Walk y el bar Caffe en Jenners, disfruté de Centotre cuando abrió y el Canonball. Pero deben haber pasado casi 8 años desde que me aventuré a Elm Row, y estoy tan contenta de haberlo hecho. Entras y experimentas una auténtica delicatessen italiana, todo va tan bien desde cómo se abastecen las estanterías hasta el olor y el ruido, que ya no estás en la parte superior del paseo, sino que podrías estar en el viejo país o en el extremo norte en Boston. Originalmente había venido solo para comprar algo de la delicatessen pero el olor y el bullicio del café Vin me atrajo. Tuve suerte y pude conseguir una mesa. Pedí el prosciutto con melón con una copa de Prosecco y el rigatoni de salchicha con una copa de montepuliciano. La camarera excepcionalmente servicial volvió para decir que se habían quedado sin el melón italiano, pero el chef sugirió un poco de melocotón fresco en su lugar - era un entrante perfecto, y los tonos de melocotón del Prosecco realmente lo felicitó. Uno de los mejores Proseccos que he probado, y he probado un montón! El rigatoni estaba bien cocinado y tenía un hermoso golpe de calor, el vino tinto cortado a través del rico sugo de tomate. Absolutamente rellena no pude con un postre, pero tenía un espresso doble con un frangelico al costado. El café es increíble, si nunca has probado frangelico funciona muy bien con café fuerte. El servicio es rápido, profesional y atento sin ser intrusivo. Ahora me siento increíblemente culpable de que haya pasado tanto tiempo desde que estuve aquí, que no pasará mucho tiempo hasta mi próxima visita. Si quieres una auténtica comida italiana en un ambiente más cercano a la Toscana que Tranent, no te olvides de lo buena que es Valvona & Crolla. Hora de otro espresso y frangelico - Saludo!

We've been going to this place for years, it is a must-see shop in Edinburgh if you like Italian food! Amazing selection of Italian meats, cheeses, and antipasti. We stopped in this time for some of their delicious affogato: house-made vanilla and pistachio ice cream, talked with a rich shot of crema espresso, incredibly good!

Met family for lunch, we were warmly greeted. I had the mushroom spaghetti (gluten free) which was ok. It cost £20 which I thought very expensive for what it was. Service very good.

Visited this Deli with upstairs restaurant/cafe on Monday, final day of the festival. We arrived close to closing time and we were greeted with a warm and welcoming smile from our charming server. Negronis and Food were amazing. Typical traditional Italian fare with an abundance of different wines to choose from. Please don't pass by what looks like only an Italian deli as the upstairs restaurant is possibly the best italian food to be eaten in Edinburgh.

Great ambience, delicious food, excellent wines - we are already looking forward to our next visit. And as promised, we were there again yesterday. It was delicious, the service was attentive and friendly and the wine was extraordinary. Grace. We look forward to coming back soon

We had booked two Fringe events here and luckily decided to add a lunch before one of them and were absolutely delighted with the food - the charcuterie board had a nice selection of meats and cheeses and the pastas were all perfectly cooked.

Fabulous place. Best deli you’ll ever see. Cafe is amazing. We had pasta and pesto. It was absolutely delicious. Ice cream is wonderful. Service is wonderful

Took a special trip to Edinburgh to visit this Italian deli and was not dissapointed. Fantastic range of food and wines. I had a delicious lunch, spent a long time looking at the memerobila on the walls, friendly staff. Highly recommended & wool definitely be back💕 Came back to see The Spatz Trio, who were amazing, highly recommend. Staff are so freindly and helpful. A treasure of a place 💜

Best damn coffee I’ve ever had. Seriously, it’s so nice to find somewhere that makes coffee that actually tastes like coffee! Not to mention all the food at the cafe is absolutely mind-blowing. Pricey but worth every penny. And the staff are extremely friendly and lovely. Love the shop as well, there’s some fascinating products for sale and I love how tall the place is! Actually can’t wait to come back to Edinburgh just to return to this place and have some proper coffee again.

Came to buy a bottle of white wine from Tuscany. The woman who helped me was super polite and had a great knowledge on the different types of wine. Was in and out in 2 minutes. Didn’t catch her name but she was brilliant.

Just had the most wonderful customer experience from Volvona & Crolla through Liezel when unfortunately I couldn’t mange their 4th of July Wine and Cheese night. Exceptional service when they didn’t have to respond in the way that they did and I can see why this establishment has been in business for 90 years Grazie mille Colin

Where do I start. Great shop, fantastic rolls especially the sausage linked, great coffee you are best to go for I could be here all day. It is a must. You are paying for quality not quantity. 👍👍

What an incredible place. Spent a fortune in the deli...can't resist, grabbed a bottle of Etna Sicilian wine, then headed to the restaurant. Beautiful food. The anchovies and sourdough were to die for and the radicchio, honeyed pear, roquefort and walnut salad a taste sensation. Then the pasta dishes were sublime. We would be regulars here if we lived locally...but will definitely be coming again every time we visit Edinburgh

Wonderful Deli and Caffe. The produce and wine are first rate and the selection is wide. The Caffe produces enjoyable meals and snacks. The coffee is good and the service is excellent.

An Edinburgh institution combining cafe and shop/deli. The cafe serves excellent breakfast and lunch, with great coffee. The paesano breakfast is a must, with their specially made sandwiches. Shop has incredible wine selection. Probably the best Italian deli in the uk. Shame the bakery section isn’t as large and broad as it used to be.

Lunch out at Valvona & Crolla is such a treat ! The upstairs restaurant is a very nice place for lunch and the staff are so welcoming, friendly and attentive. We had Bread with Olives, Prosciutto with Melon and Raddichio with blue cheese and Walnuts. This was followed by amazing Chocolate tart and all accompanied by a bottle of Montecarlo red wine. The flavours were amazing and we cannot recommend them enough, we will definitely have them all again.All for £62.70 including tip. A longer time spent in the delicatessen on the way out taking in all the amazing produce finished off our visit, see you soon !

Not only is it a wonderful Italian grocery shop, it has a lovely restaurant hidden inside it. I recommend it.

Almost hidden away on a row of shops heading away from the city centre towards Leith. Entry to the café through the pretty impressive deli. Good coffee and food with great staff. Have been twice now - breakfast and lunch.

My trip research of Edinburgh led us to Valvona & Crolla. We had a delicious second breakfast here after a hike up Calton Hill. We also bought some olive oil. The restaurant is bright and cheerful and the shop has many wonderful items. Don't miss this Edinburgh gem!

Worth every penny, I am afraid I don't live in Edinburgh hence can't go directly to the shop...but my online orders are a real treat! Always fast delivery, items intelligently packed (when talking about food it is quite important to know how to fill the box to avoid disappointments!) and prices that reflect the quality you've been delivered. Shame to read a previous comment where people don't really understand how even at costa coffee now a cup of black coffee is £4.10...that's why minimum wages have gone up in April: it is called inflation my friend. However lovely residents of Edinburgh, you are lucky to have a gem of this kind! Thank you for my goodies

A beautiful Italian food import store. We usually go for the cheese and cured meats to have a picnic on Calton Hill. We tried to lemon sfagliatella this time, and they were delicious. Prices are high, but make the food a special treat.

You will not be disappointed! Such a wonderful place to buy prepared foods or to create your own. This Italian deli is a delite!

Too expensive and the quality is not up to the prize.. 3 coffees which you could make better a home and 2 cream pastries 20 pounds, if you make people pay 4 pound for a pastry at least fill it in properly cause it was basically empty , I can’t stand this stinginess at that price

What a fantastic shop, filled to the rafters, floor to ceiling with all sorts of food and drinks. It has an old fashioned vibe, beautiful Italian foodstuffs, all wrapped or presented in tins or boxes , it is deceptively large, eventually ending up at the cafe at the back, good coffee and cakes, they were serving breakfast items when we visited. Lovely clean toilets with baby change. Staff attentive and friendly. Items bought were beautifully wrapped, you can have gorgeous hampers sent as presents from there too. Well worth a visit

An Excellent Delicatessen! A large range of fresh produce, dried cured meats, cheeses, oils and tinned/carton products. The quality was of the produce was also excellent. Staff were really helpful and welcoming. I purchased some French Garlic, an award winning Haggis and award winning peppermint tea. All of them were spot on and the best I'd ever tasted. I would highly recommend and next time I will try the cafe/restaurant.

£30 on ingredients for a carbonara excluding the pasta. Pecorino Romano was bad (musty / sour) when I went to eat it, not packaged properly and possibly already bad in store. Black pepper was over 2 yrs past packed date. The server initially gave me already cut vacuum packed guanciale and I had to request the fresh cut.

We had lunch and then brunch the next day. The food here is so amazing, it should really be in a Michelin-starred restaurant. I found this little spot 19 years ago, and have been impressed by it ever since. Staff are lovely. Meals are exceptional. Love it.

Not for the first time we have been disappointed in the quality. My partner spent over seven pounds for about half a kilo. Half were rotten and completely inedible. There is no other way of saying this we were again disappointed in the quality especially for the cost. The same amount was £2.50 from almost anywhere else.

Repeatedly featured as the best (or in the tell two) delis in Britain, and for good reason. Vegetable, meat and cheese produce is freshly imported from Italy and there is an abundance of interesting canned and dried produce from around Europe. If you cook or want some exceptional ingredients and freshly baked bread for a picnic, do this at least once in your life. The cafe at the back is a hidden gem.

Continues to be excellent. They currently have a lovely Christmas room for treats to buy. Continually good quality food. Not an extensive menu but they do things very well. Good service.

Not managed to visit for some time but booked for a family birthday for seven. Love the restaurant behind the main shop and it has a unique atmosphere. The food was good, reasonably priced (for Edinburgh) and the service was friendly. The only problem is that you go back through the shop to leave and it's too tempting! Spent another £60 on some goodies!
