Took over 1.5hrs to arrive from ordering. To only be offered £7.33 on refund for cold food is nonsense. Bitterly disappointed. Only made up by food being mildly tasty and friendly delivery driver. Just shame most things were cold and late!! Disappointed !!!

Visited with a group that included five 1 years olds to celebrate a birthday for an early lunch. We were told to keep the babies quiet which is very disappointing for what is ostensibly a family friendly restaurant.

Took over an hour to deliver, (we live 20 minutes away). Pizza was cold and pepperoni was burnt, and dough was like rubber. Do not reccomend.

Terrible... Got a BBQ chicken pizza delivered, they put beef chunks on it instead of chicken and there were 2 pizza bases instead of 1.. butchered it completely. A frozen pizza is better

Food is so bad it's worse than just cooking a frozen pizza at home. On top of that it's like £15 for a pizza???? They've gotten too big for their boots, preying on fools who will keep paying these prices for the worst pizza. This pizza express is just round the corner from Matto, which is significantly cheaper and serves actually good nice pizzas. Do yourself a favour and avoid this godawful place, go somewhere that will treat you with the respect you deserve.

One of the worst pizzas I ever had, it was tasteless no sesoning at all only pepper (i have ordered margerita pizza). The dough was chewy as well. It was home delivery sa the quality could drop, that is only why I given 2 stars no 1.

Ridiculously overpriced, ordered a £15 pizza and when it came I knew instantly it wouldn't be enough, the dough is good but toppings have little taste and wanted more food when I finished... service was okay but we ordered dessert and 10-15 minutes later had to order again as they had clearly forgotten about it.... a pint bottle of beer was 7.25... was an okay experience overall but not worth further visits

A beautiful restaurant inside an old church. Mid-afternoon visit but service and food were all fantastic. The only people in at one point which is why the atmosphere only scored 4 but I'm being very harsh with that.

It was the best birthday party so far! My daughter celebrated her 8th birthday today. The organization was perfect, kids were always busy, had fun making their own pizzas, eating them and ice cream at the end! But our main amazement and admiration was Rob!! He made this party fantastic!! Daria was helping the kids a lot as well, but all the entertainment was on Robert! He is not only a professional chef but also very good with kids! I would highly recommend these place for your little ones! 10/10!

The children described it is the happiest birthday party they had ever attended. The waiters Robert were very experienced in leading the activities and the atmosphere was great. The children made pizza together They also played games and competition of designed the chef hat.

Ordered prawn stater and bruschetta starter - awful. Prawns were sitting in a bowl of water with a couple peppers- had to return them, bruschetta was below average for the price. Pizzas we soggy, when asked for extra crispy. Staff were neglectful. Won’t be back, don't recommend

The food was actually unexpectedly good, especially the barbecue chicken pizza and halloumi bites. The billionaires sundae was great to share, not too sweet. Don't recommend the rainbow slaw though - the cabbage was bitter - everything else was pretty nice.

I ordered a margarita pizza and the pizza was 80% pizza base and a small volume of cheese! If I wanted a cheeseless pizza I’d have ordered a cheeseless pizza! Not acceptable at all. I know businesses are trying to cut corners but this isn’t it. Worst pizza I’ve ever received. Defo won’t buy again!

Amazing staff, we arrived with a screaming toddler and they were nothing but kind and helpful throughout our lunch, food was delicious and waiters were all wonderful.

Interior was fantastic, looked gorgeous and was clean. Service was impeccable, our server was lovely and chatty and took wonderful care of us - checked we could have certain dishes the way we wanted and gave us A+ recommendations when certain items were unavailable. The food was also delicious, having been the only member of my party to have not come to Pizza Express before I agree with my fellow diners that it is awesome. Also had some crayons and a booklet for our kiddo which is always a plus.

Ignorant, incompetent and down right rude, manager walked away while I was talking to her, really shocking behaviour, waited 30 mins for take out pizza which had been ordered 30 mins before that.

delivery driver was absolutely terrible - phoned for directions and was incredibly rude........told me he couldn't find the address, had other deliveries to do so he would just leave the order at the petrol station and we could collect!!!

We’ve been coming to this pizza express regularly with my son throughout the years. Yesterday, me and my partner were chased outside by the manager and asked if we had paid for the meal. The rudeness of the situation was such we were speechless. Worth saying we were asked to move table before the end of the meal, to which we agreed (albeit, not have been told that table was booked when we sat down). I won’t be able to shake that feeling and go back again. I’m giving 2 stars to acknowledge the kind waiter who served us and that we know for a long time.

Came here tonight with a friend for the starter + main deal Mon- Thurs for £13.95. Booked via the app. Place was extremely quiet, although it was after 8pm. As my friend and I have used the pizza express app before we were keen to ‘check in’ and asked for a table sign to scan. However, the waitress dismissed this and said ‘we needed to order first’. We then both ordered off the ‘starter’ menu and a ‘classic pizza’ as instructed on the face of the voucher from the app. We had still not received a table sign. While ordering, we both sat with our pizza express home page open, keen to ‘check in.’ Neither the manager or waitress mentioned or double checked with us, that the included starters ONLY were the doughballs. When we received the bill we both asked again if we could check, as we were using the app to pay. The waitress quickly stated ‘we didn’t get the correct starters.’ I then explained how we couldn’t ’check in’ and therefore click on the deal to see. The waitress was far from apologetic and turned very hostile. Thankfully we used our UNIDAYS and got some money off. I am a regular at Pizza Express and am grateful for the gluten free options but the unhelpful, unbothered and failing to inform service, severely let this establishment done today. I will not return to this branch.

Very ordinary food served well but priced as if it’s something special. You can eat lunch just as well elsewhere in Morningside for no more than a tenner.

Didn’t arrive!!! At all, almost £60 for 3 pizzas. Never ordering again!

We booked late on in the day. Table for 2at 19:45. Arrived just shortly after & the place was dead, which is fair for a Wednesday night at the end of January. We ordered the Calamari starter (x2) & a Bruschetta with s Grand Chicken Caesar salad to follow. Absolutely rotten, stick to pizza & forget about everything else on the menu. Best of the pizza chain sit ins, but for us we won't be going back. Staff couldn't care less...avoid:-(

Pizzeria located in an unusual location. The pizzas are good and plentiful. The service is cool, very attentive.

Missing dough balls. When trying to complain online about missing items it doesn't give option to choose dough balls as missing - only shows pizza. No option to write comment to clarify exact missing item before submitting refund request. Endless loop of unhelpful, incomplete 'help' options when selecting 'contact us'. Would like immediate refund of £4.95 for missing dough balls

I am posting this on behalf of my friend, who is East Asian and recently visited with her husband. Despite the fact that my friend is a fluent speaker of English, addressed the server in English, is not of Japanese descent, and does not speak Japanese, the server repeatedly said "arigato" to her. Although one could argue that this was the server's attempt at good customer service, it is perhaps more accurate to say that this was nothing more than racial profiling and an example of Pizza Express' extremely poor equality, diversity, and inclusion training for employees (or lack thereof). Given Edinburgh's increasingly international demographics, the attitude displayed by this server is offensive, outdated, and something straight out of a Rat Pack monologue.

The waiter was the best part- overshone the food by a long shot, which was tasty too.

Driver didn’t even deliver it, we picked it up ourselves as it had been 2 hours since placing the order and hadn’t even been picked up yet. Funny bit is, the driver was in the restaurant chatting away to his pal, there is no communication between drivers & restaurant staff so they just stand waiting for no one to come over.

Phoned and asked for vegan cheese on two of our pizzas due to an allergy. pizzas came 30 mins late, me he was not what I ordered and obv had normal cheese. my daughters dough balls were burned black and my husband's pizza was so thin it was actually transparent. so disappointed.

Second time i have ordered and both have taken 3-4 hours despite saying 45-55mins. The restaurant did not even start cooking the food until at least two hours after. No apology or compensation, do not order from here.

Came here for an end of term celebration with a friend and we had a lovely meal!! We shared the hot honey dough balls which were incredible; the honey works really well. We had a Romana pizza for a main which was the perfect size, and of course we had to get stracciatella ice cream for pudding. All round excellent food👌. And we were served by George who's energy really made the whole experience perfect. He was extremely welcoming and was super willing to answer any questions we had. It's really admirable how enthusiastic he is and how he genuinely talks to each customer. Thanks for a lovely meal and we hope to come back again soon :))

Meal was ordered at 6.20 with an expected delivery time of 7.20 which seemed a lot for a nearby restaurant but within acceptable bounds. Meal wasn’t delivered until 8 despite driver ‘picking up’ according to app at around 7. Far too long.

Food came an hour and a half after original expected delivery. Food wasn’t particularly warm when it did arrive even though we were assured that it was fresh for the driver leaving.

The base was undercooked and soggy, akin to eating cardboard; despite requesting a nice crispy base (as expected in PE) due to an equally bad experience just over a week ago. This request was clearly ignored by the restaurant/kitchen and customers on JustEat appear to be getting a very poor quality of food.

Should be called pizza delayed rather than express considering just how long it takes for the food to come out! You’re left for an hour to sip on drinks and feel sick by the time the meal comes out. Deliveroo is evidently prioritised 🙄

Placed order at 18.15 for estimated delivery of 35-50 mins, delivery should be with us 19.05 and was delivered cold and dry. Dough balls were delivered with no garlic butter, so essentially eating just plain balls. Really disappointed

Pizza Express in Morningside is not our usual outlet from Pizza Express as we normally go to Victoria Terrace when in town. When in Bruntsfield/ Morningside area we would go to “MATTO” on Morningside Road for pizza but unfortunately they were too busy and had a queue out the door. The restaurant had a fairly Good atmosphere and the waiter was friendly but as it got busier smaller tables were ignored over bigger parties of custom. The pizzas were so thin you could barely pick them up as they just collapsed & were slightly burnt because they were so thin. We always get romana pizza so there is definitely a difference between this restaurant and other Pizza Express in town.
