Great experience dinning in this restaurant. It was a busy night but staff served us very well. Kudos to the team. Amazing food. Good ambiance.

I tried the sweets and ginger beer and it was good, but they have a mentality that if you come and sit down and you are eating in another restaurant and you want to come for dessert or have coffee and they don’t like it, they sit and watch for a while and say go outside. The second day I tried spaghetti and it was good

15£ pound frozen margarita pizza with cheese like plastic and a bit of tomato sauce what a scam

French tourists: It is very expensive for what it is, the pizzas are quite small compared to what I am used to. The staff is nice though. Expensive for what it is, the pizzas are quite small compared to what you can get in France for less.

The food was overpriced. It came less than in 5 minutes and looked like it came from the microwave. Was eatable but wasn’t good. Wouldn’t recommend. Isn’t worth the money.

The pasta and salmon are very good, the calzones very large. Customer service is nice. We had dinner on the 31st for New Year's, we arrived without a reservation and they accepted us. The prices are normal.

If you are looking for great food it has to be here. Extensive menu and high quality food. pasta Siciliana is a "paradise for the palate", baked potatoes are the world champion!! The flavours are delicious and the atmosphere brings back memories of a holiday in Italy. Big thanks to the chefs and all the staff. Will always keep coming back here. Highly recommended.

I was with my family for lunch in this wonderful restaurant. The food was amazing, very large and hot portions. Service was fast and pleasant. They fed us very well and took care of us. Thank you, we will definitely come back again 😁❤️

Stumbled across this lovely Italian restaurant, the lad who served us was so friendly and attentive. The food we chose was so tasty and very well presented. A really good menu and drinks menu, so much choice. We would highly reccomend this restaurant.

Unfortunately we arrived when the Italian chef wasn't there. The prawn starter was passata poured over prawns with baby tomatoes and a sprinkle of chilli with half a bag of shop bought lettuce thrown on the plate. The chicken in white wine was takeaway grilled chicken with a very weak sauce, certainly not wine cooked or flavour & added mushrooms, with the other half of the bag of shop bought lettuce and a microwaved aubergine. Hugely disappointed. The waiter was lovely and understood when I said this was not Italian food cooked with passion or even a cook book! It's easy to cook pizzas and pastas when you have a little idea, but Italian meals need depth and fresh herbs/ ingredients

Mussels we ok, but some were not fully cooked. The fusilli pasta dishes ordered were enjoyed, and my daughter liked the seafood fettucini. The waiter gave us great tips on area pubs that locals visit.

Food was ok. Had to ask for more pancetta in my carbonara but they obliged and brought a fresh plate back. Price was reasonable for location. Pizzas were ok and kids ate them so that's a good thing.

We had a lovely meal here last night. It was our friend’s 60th birthday and we had walked past the restaurant the night before and liked the look of the menu and inside so booked a table. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The menu is very varied. We had a number of starters - calamari, bruschetta, pizza and then pasta, pizzas and a chicken dish for main. All of the food was delicious! The restaurant was really busy but the staff were on the ball and very efficient. It was no bother when we asked for candles to be lit and placed on some cake. A lovely evening. Would definitely visit again when next in Edinburgh

O'Oliviero in Edinburgh was a mixed experience. The ragu beef pasta 🍝 was okay, and the pizza diavolo 🍕 (pepperoni) was fine, but the calzone was disappointing with uncooked mushrooms 🍄. The Coca-Cola Zero we ordered tasted off and smelled like bug spray 🥤😕. The atmosphere was quite dull, with a beige-focused decor that lacked character. Not quite the cozy vibe we were hoping for. There is definitely some room for improvement.

Very little on the plate. I had salmon pasta but I only had very few pieces of salmon...very disappointed...

Nous avons choisi pour notre premier diner a Edimbourg ce restaurant Italien. Celui-ci est très bien situé soit sur Grassmarket au pied de la Victoria Street. Malgré le fait que nous n’avions pas réservé, nous avons été accueilli chaleureusement et nous a attribué une petite table pour deux. Nous avons choisi des pâtes carbonara ainsi qu’une pizza. Il locale ha il grande vantaggio di avere una ottima posizione . Detto questo , per noi italiani , essere soddisfatti del cibo ( qualunque cibo ) all'estero e' parecchio difficile . Ancor piu' se ci si trova in Gran Bretagna .

A lovely visit to this great little restaurant today. Food was amazing. Husband had the pasta from the specials board and both of really enjoyed the flavoursome sauces which were so different to the chain restaurant sauces. Would definitely return.

After a very good afternoon doing the Potter Trail, we came across this wee gem. I was with my Daughter, Son in law and Granddaughter and newly born Grandson. We were made to feel very welcome and the food was to die for. We had a starter of Calamari and Mussles, both were fantastic. I had a calzone pizza which i have to say has been the best i have ever tasted. Compliments from daughter of her pizza and son in law polished his off in no time. Staff were fantastic, on the ball, very friendly and attentive. Would certainly recommend, and we will certainly be back soon.

This review is on behalf of my mother and father in-law, who are unable to leave their own review due to being old and infirm. 🤣 They visited during the Edinburgh tattoo and promised Sumet (unsure of spelling) a glowing critique. The food, and service was brilliant. The seafood linguine was amazing and the carbonara was delightful. They are both looking forward to returning in August 2025 when they will be back for the 75th Anniversary of the Tattoo.

Beautiful little ( not so ) Italian in the heart of the old Edinburgh! We loved all our meals the wine list was great and so was the service so take a visit when next your nearby !

This little joint is absolutely awesome. This will be the 3 time we have eaten here on this trip to Edinburgh. When your over the Scottish dishes this is a refreshing place to come as the food was delicious. I think between my husband and myself we have sampled half the menu and love it all. It’s a must!

Scooped up a table outside for 6 in the heart of the fringe! Staff was milling themselves to service everyone. Well done keeping operations fluid with such an influx of people. Tried 2 NA beers I’ve not had. Will be back!,

LLegamos un poco tarde a este lugar. Pedimos pastas y alguna sensaladas con gaseosas y unas copas de vino tinto. Las pastas estaban muy buenas pero el vino estaba un poco caliente. De todas maneras todo estuvo bastante bien.

Visited for a late meal after some Fringe shows and really impressed with both the food and the service. I had Pizza Capricciosa and my friend had Pasta Carbonara and both were excellent. The real highlight was the homemade tiramisu! Absolutely worth a visit.

We went to O'Oliviero for dinner. It's a cozy little restaurant, well visited by tourists. So you should definitely reserve a table. Service was good, the staff was really nice. Sadly the pasta I ordered was too cold already, there was like no seasoning on it and there was so little sauce on the pasta that it tasted really dry. To be honest, it was the worst pasta I ever ordered at a restaurant. For the price it wasn't worth it. The pizza and lasagna looked really good though.

This restaurant is a poor excuse for an ‘Italian’ restaurant and just isn’t authentic at all. I visited today for a family lunch and am still reeling, feeling ripped off. Firstly, these days there’s nothing Italian about it (not least the staff). I was then charged £3.25 for a glass of flat lemonade that was clearly just poured from a large bottle. We had the lasagne and a pizza, both of which were overpriced and tasted very average - supermarket standard. I ordered ‘short pasta’ for my toddler daughter and received spaghetti. When I explained that I’d asked for short pasta e.g penne, I was told that they didn’t do penne (what Italian restaurant doesn’t do penne?!), only fusilli. We then had to ask for black pepper and parmesan cheese, really this should be offered automatically? The waiter was friendly enough but there did seem to be a language barrier and the service was below par. The toilet and baby changing facilities could do with an update. It was an expensive lunch for what it was and unfortunately I wished we’d gone elsewhere. Don’t fall in to the tourist trap like we did and waste your money.

The nicest Italian restaurant in Edinburgh. My lord was the food super tasty. We had amazing service. We were blessed with good weather and got to sit outside watching all the entertainment in the street. I cannot wait to come back.

I had the Calzone, and it was excellent, though I asked for salami to strengthen the taste. Service was great, and it wasn't especially expensive, though it's not in a 'cheap' area. Recommended. S

Bruschetta was burnt and flavourless with a pile of tomato’s. Pasta was flavourless and little to no meat in it. Service was slow and the waiter didn’t even look at us when speaking. Heard it was a good place but was massively let down

Service is fine, venue is nice (feels quiet and relaxed no matter how busy it gets) but the food is not good. We had two bland pasta dishes (made with dry pasta) and a tough bit of chicken. We were even warned one dish might be a bit spicy. If only. Wine was ok. I guess it's Grassmarket so they don't need to try.

Pasta was okay ,lasagna however tasteless. Staff seem like they don’t know what they are doing 0% communication and stand there awkwardly. Asked for bread and one staff answered with “im not sure if we have i’ll check “ he didn’t come back . Vibe wasn’t good either couldn’t hear any music just silence. Personally wouldn’t come back.

I arrived and the restaurant was completely empty but it looked inviting so I took a seat. By the time I left it was very busy. The team were very friendly and attentive and the food was good. Drinks were brought quickly which is always a welcome thing. Next time I'm in Edinburgh I'll visit again.

O'Oliviero an insult to Italian's. Ordered a beef pasta dish which was cold and tasteless. Had I have visited there toilet before ordering I would have left immediately dirty cleaning buckets a child's pushchair in the way (this was a disabled toilet) and not running water to wash hands. Never have I left a 1☆ review but sorry O'Oliiero you really need to get your act together

The margherita pizza was pure cheese...it didn't even have basil

Had the spaghetti carbonara, tasted very good! Not a huge fan of how they add an additional service charge to your bill before bringing it out and kinda guilt trip you into paying it though.

Great ambience ! Awesome food ! We had the vegetarian aubergine pizza and vegetarian pasta Siciliana. For those of you who are not meat eaters, both these are highly recommended !

With out doubt the worst lasagna I've had. Started with flat soda,followed by what were supposed to be king prawns ( tiny) and cold.

Unfortunately, the service was very unmotivated and seemed annoyed when we asked questions about the food. The king prawns had no taste and were very small shrimp. Usually in restaurants, “king prawns” is used to describe large shrimp. Not here. The pasta didn't look bad, but unfortunately it had absolutely no taste! The toilets are very unkempt

We wanted a quick snack and dropped by for a pizza and beer. The ambience was dull, the veg pizza we ordered was average. It wasn't typically rush hour as it was beyond meal times and most of the tables were empty. Despite that, two waiters came to our table asking to clear off the plates when there was still food on my plate. The second time the waiter rushed me into finishing so that he could clear the plates off. That wasn't a nice experience. Stuff like that makes you want to try out other places and don't visit again irrespective of the quality of the food. The waiters also kind of lacked some etiquette as some of the Indians waiters kept chatting and giggling when we entered the restaurant. Service can be improved!

Very average food, not well seasoned and didn’t seem like they were using high quality ingredients. The olives were COLD, what kind of Italian place is this?! There is a very nice atmosphere and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They did adjust the bill after I left most of my dinner.

Avoid this place. Really poor quality pasta, pizza was ok. Prices overinflated and atmosphere was just not good. Would never come again

Great little authentic Italian restaurant, great selection of foods with generous portions and attentive, friendly staff. The team were able to seat my wife and I on a Friday evening with no booking despite the location being busy. A two course meal for us both with great beer and wine selection was very reasonably priced.

My daughter and I visited after a very rainy day in Edinburgh. We were looking for a family, independent, Italian restaurant and we weren't disappointed. We'd been tempted by the smell of garlic throughout the city all day, so we started with garlic bread and cheese which was gorgeous and more than enough for the two of us. We both wanted pasta for our main courses and so we went for spaghetti carbonara and spaghetti putanesca. Just delicious! The pasta was cooked to perfection, the sauces were incredible and the portions were more than enough! There was no room for desserts so we went for coffee and amaretto which just hit the spot. The staff were friendly and attentive. They all appeared to get on well which led to a lovely atmosphere in the whole restaurant. The customers were treated like guests which was delightful. We'll most definitely be back

Very nice place in the historic center, in Grassmarket Square, a stone's throw from everything. Online booking is quick and they respond to emails very quickly. We had several pastas and pizzas and everything was delicious. Thank you.

Superb, authentic Italian food. Our waiter, George, was wonderful. His personality was as good as the food. My husband and I had a caprese salad that was superior. The large chunk of mozzarella was so delicious. Next, we split a pizza..The dough was phenomenal, and the vegetables were delicious, so we are very pleased. I's been hard to find really great food in Edinburgh, but we hit the mark with this restaurant. We highly recommend coming here for food and also drinks. Ask for George. He's a great waiter and the restaurant is excellent.. There's a nice selection of desserts, too, and we had the chocolate cake and it was completely delicious. You must check out this place and the wonderful, fun karma historic setting in which it sits.

Terrible!! Food was way below average! Prawns to start were bland! Poor quality! Main course was poor at best! Pizza Luke warm, calzone poor filling, quality and temperature! Mussels were poor, small portions! Service was at best calamitous Very poor! Iconic area with this many basic errors!! Management need to look at recruitment and training rather than profit

Poor food, mussels starter tasted bland. Main corse pasta, salmon very dry. Wife's enjoyed her starter of prawns, main of very thin dry chicken and then spent early morning sat on the loo!!! Staff pleasant but apologetic and not very attentive. Did get a slice of chocolate cake when they realised it was my birthday

Very disappointed with our meal , poor quality food. Staff were very nice just a shame about the food .lasagne was the worst I have eaten ,bruschetta starter was a load of tomatoes on bread with absolutely no flavour.Pizza under cooked, no nice crusty edge to the base .

Friendly service but the food was under seasoned and tasteless. We picked the Italian restaurant on grass market street considering no one could mess up a simple pizza or pasta dish. But this restaurant manages to mess it all up. I simply had a few bites from my pasta dish and our friends didn't even finish their pizza. It's very let down. Under seasoned and probably the worst pasta I ever tasted! The presentation was great but my friends' pizza was not great! I thought I might be being picky but seeing my friends all left half of the dishes untouched as well that said it for itself. I wasn't thinking giving 3 stars to the waiter and the friendly service. But the food was really bad and we simply didn't like any dishes. Otherwise it's really a 1 star restaurant. Avoid this at all cost if you love Italian food.

Four of us had a lovely meal with attentive and welcoming service from the staff. Atmosphere was calm and warm too. The only downside was washroom/toilets. They could have been more tidy and better maintained. It left slightly bad impression on the overall experience.

Popped in unbooked on evening before Scotland/France rugby match. Great atmosphere, and we really enjoyed the food. Loco Toro pizza, and Spaghetti Putanesca. I had the latter and it was very tasty indeed. A couple of drinks as well and the bill did not break the bank. Unlike most other venues in Edinburgh that we used that week, this one did not sneak in a 'Discretionary' Service charge to the bill

Staff were friendly and prompt. Food was a total disappointment - we ordered 2 pasta dishes and both these were very obviously reheated and not cooked freshly to order as we had expected. Carbonara was overly dry and not hot at all, the arrabbiata was also served barely warm.
