Lovely place. Terrific food. Great atmosphere. However, after booking a table for 17:30 and not getting our main meal until after 7pm, not ideal.

Very good Italian food and wine. The atmosphere is like in a pirate movie. And even if the place was really full, they found us a table, and the service was quite fast.

The service is bad at times, I don't know because they are Arabs or not, and the food is less than normal and their prices are high. I will not try it again.

We ordered pizza to go and the truth is that it was incredible. The food looks very homemade and we ordered a focaccia as well. The waiter was very friendly, we wanted a bottle of wine to accompany the meal and we asked him for a bottle of Italian wine and he sold it to us. It is true that he dropped the dataphone on the floor and caused it to scare him, but it was not intentional and he always politely offered to solve it. I recommend it!

The pizza was good, but the rest of my party was not too satisfied with their pasta choices...

Good food, special decoration of the restaurant. Service good but rushed and no humor. Dessert was good and a lot for the price. Main course was a bit too spicy but tasted good. Just a good restaurant to eat.

Don't go there. Unless you want inedible desserts made a month ago literally

First time eating here and after the confusion of it actually being two restaurants in one settled at our reserved table. I didn't like that two of our party of 8 had their backs to the restaurant floor as it didn't give them a chance to view the superb decor, which was a pirate ship theme. The service was excellent and the food was really good and morish. Some of our party had pizzas, which were huge, and some had pasta dishes, which included haggis ravioli, gnocchi, and risotto. A first time visit, but I would highly recommend it.

Visiting the city of Edinburgh for a three-day visit, we came across the provocative façade of The Hispaniola so we decided to visit the place. We didn’t have a reservation, but although the old good classic space of the restaurant was almost empty ( and remained so till the end), we were driven to the place next to it, called ciao Roma, a place that in contrast with the previous one is the apotheosis of kitsch. Because it was quite late to look for another restaurant, we decided to stay hoping a dissent Italian meal. Nothing from what we tried was tasteful or even acceptable. Togliolini carbonara, rigatoni norcina or even margherita pizza were beyond average and Burrata salad with a rather expired cheese. There was no interest or response from the staff seeing that more than half of the food was left and even when we complained about. Now I recognize that it was my fault that I didn’t take seriously comments that with the recent 2023 update now have been erased! I think that this is a place to be avoided!

Restaurangen i sig såg mysig och bra ut men här fanns mycket att önska. Små portioner och dåligt smaksatt. Saknade olja/vinäger på bordet. Personalen verkade mest nervösa, stod utefter väggen med händerna på ryggen. Vill du äta italienskt? Gå i så fall någon annanstans.

Dropped into Hispaniola from Drummond street after visiting the pub across the road for a fringe event. Nice find to while a couple of hours away over a lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Great service, friendly and good food. It was busy throughout the afternoon so clearly very popular. Will go again.

We were greeted with, “are you in a hurry?”… I should have listened to that red flag. Service was at a glacial pace. We were given our first round of drinks, and then never offered refills until our food arrived. Then our refills arrived after we had finished our food. Some tables were offered fresh shredded cheese on their dishes, we were not. I don’t recommend you eat here regardless of how pressed you are for time. Food quality was mediocre. I ordered the risotto and it came with four shrimp… If you are gluten free though, this is an excellent option if you are craving Italian food.

Before reviewing the food , i am going to say that the vibe in the restaurant is very cool and Italian-Like ( loved the painting on the wall ) and the bathroom was very very clean which is always good plus the waitress was actually nice and accepted our opinion on some of their stuff. However, and it’s a big however, the food was not what I expected. The menu has a lot to offer and seeing the kitchen in the back with the lady hand making the pasta, gets your expectations high in the sky, but it was all burned down to say the least . I got the Ravioli with the crab meat in it and It was fine, just fine, nothing extra or whatever, I didn’t feel like it was handmade nor very fresh, just a plain ravioli with a bit of filling and a tomato sauce that just didn’t fit, it had to be a different sauce, i felt like they just dumped in a can of tomato purée and that’s it. The second dish was a whole big plate of seafood that half of it wasn’t hot, the calamari was not very fresh, i loved the mussels and the fish. The shrimp was ok, nothing much. Both dishes lacked some power, seasoning, and Italian twist. The biggest disappointment was the dessert - Tiramisu. As someone who LOVES Tiramisu, it was the worst I ever tasted to be honest. Firstly it wasn’t represented in a traditional way, it was very dry and God how bitter was it. The biscuits were very dry and extra extra bitter that after one bite, you are just done. Will I comeback? Not really since other Italian restaurants can be easily found for cheaper and better.

Food was delicious. I have multiple food allergies and celiac disease. The staff were able to accomodate my allergies. The chef had some concerns on the marinara sauce that normally came with my chicken so he made separate roasted peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and garlic. They also let me sub aubergines for mushrooms at no additional charge-I cannot eat aubergines. The food was delicious, and i did not get sick which tells me it was prepared woth minimization of cross contamination. Someone in my party got black ravioli which looked so cool. Everyone's food looked and smelled great. I would recommend for someone with food allergies or celiac disease, or anyone lookibg for a delicious meal. The prices were fair and the portions large.

Absolutely amazing! The service was fast and very nice, the location is designed lovingly with an eye for Detail and the food? The food was so very good! I had the Pasta, which was to die for. I did not try the Pizza but it looked very good as well and my friends loved it. Maybe the only thing: the Pasta was Not the biggest portion, which fit me fine, but you might like some dessert if you are really hungry. (The desserts seem to be amazing too, so no worries there!)

Essen was Sehr Gut! Das beste was wir bisher in Schottland hatten. Die Räumlichkeiten sind crazy und klassisch zu gleich je nachdem wo man sitzt. Entweder Fluch der Karibikstyle angehaucht oder klassisch italienisch. Der Service ist auch sehr gut freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Great service. Poor food. Had seafood pizza. Apart from 1 prawn and 1 mussel there was no connection to the sea. The pizza was tough and flavourless and expensive. The other pizza that my granddaughter had also left much to be desired.

We booked late as a large group for a Saturday evening, the staff were very accommodating. Food and service both excellent with very friendly staff making for a great atmosphere. All the food was excellent including the roast potatoes.

Passable food, good waiters. Pasta portions very meagre compared to other Italian restaurants.

The food is…fine, the wine much less so, the lighting is at stadium levels and the sound in the room reflects badly for that extra headachy reverb. The Robert Louis Stevenson theme has been cheaply and badly executed, there’s no hidden treasure to be found here.

Classic Italian main dishes made to perfection. However the pasta is innovative, delicious and cooked just right. One disappointment was the espresso coffee, I expect better from this high quality Italian restaurant.

Absolutely fantastic meal. 6 of us really enjoyed it. Staff were very friendly and shared a joke . Great setting and atmosphere. Desserts were unbelievable!!

This place is very charming I did not think the food is simply delicious chicken roll wrapped in green asparagus just exceeded my wildest expectations delicious food just as amazing calzone so true and it is just tasty food service is amazing very heartily recommend

Amazing indoor decoration, kind waiters and waitress. A large portion of food with wonderful flavor.
