Tony Macaroni in Edinburgh, City of

Ordered online at 5.15pm, and was given an estimated collection time of 5.35. Went to the cafe next door to have a quick coffee, then went to pick up my order at 5.40, giving them 5 minutes grace, only to be told it would be ten minutes. Ended up waiting, along with another customer in the same situation, until 6.25. We asked numerous times for updates on where our food was, but just kept getting told 'soon'. Myself, and the other customer, had to go through to the restaurant side to try and get an update. I eventually got my food, nearly an hour after I'd ordered. Bearing in mind I'd ordered only 2 pizzas and a garlic bread, I have no idea why it took so long, especially when the restaurant didn't even look particularly busy. The food itself was basic, and not worth the price or the wait. I've had better frozen pizzas in all honesty. Used to be a decent place, but has went drastically downhill in recent times and won't be visiting again I'm afraid.

24 Jan 2024...worst experience ever, used to be regular customer's. Took our grandson for a treat. We were told chicken was off the menu ,at that point we should have walked out What followed was one of the most disgusting attempts at making Italian food I have ever experienced. Will not be back.

Was there for a lunch time it was empty we were for 3 hours for lunch but food was not good at all 1 waiter & 1 waitress started cuddling and kissing each other . They need a manager there at ĺunch time too over see the service will not be back .

Good food and the service was ok. Forgot to put our order through which gave us a longer wait.

Service was terrible, waitresses spent more time chatting than doing their job. And management need to look at their staff waiter and waitresses all they done was kiss and cuddle in front of customers..3 hours for a lunch where only 5 tables had customers.

The food was amazing, bbq ribs were melting in my mouth thats how good it was. Ordered a linguine scolio for mains and a pizza OMG never disappoints the pasta was amazing. Defos be back again

Hi I’ve just ordered a pepperoni pizza from Tony macaroni on queenferry Road. All I can say is it was disgraceful and a very low standard of pizza on opening the box at the restaurant I was faced with a pepperoni pizza which was a standard size and had 8 slices and only had 8 pieces of pepperoni one for each slice it was disgraceful and when I told them the staff just looked blankly at me. I will never go back the food is shocking fly bad and I could have gone next door too the do and got s frozen pizza for half the price which would have been far superior to this excuse for a pizza I will not recommend this place or go back to this place again it was just staggering that they actually thought it was acceptable food yours totally upset and angry with the place

We have been waiting 50 min for food !

I know this place but from a different town and this one in Edinburgh it was a disappointment!!! Pleanty spaces but when we got in we were told we cannot stay for food as they are understaffed!! Maybe an information on the door would be useful instead of having people inside and letting them to sit down only to find out they need to go!

Rice is reheated by microwave and very hard, when I complain it to the waiter, he just smiles to me, saying nothing and pretends nothing happened. VERY interesting service. Coffee is great, but the sugar sachet container is very dirty. Toilet is also dirty and no soap provided.

Nice Italian restaurant. It's a fairly big place and the tables are arranged (mostly) as in an Indian restaurant, so it's not particularly intimate and can get very noisy at times. That said, the food is good and the staff are friendly.

Never been so disappointed. A server , well I think she was despite being dressed in crop top and shirt tied round waist took out order. We waited and waited. They didn't have our order. One hour later our starter appeared. The bruschetta was actually white bread with cheese on top . And the croquettes were out of Aldi!! As for service do not get me started. We won't be back. Oh and my Pina colada was not a Pina colada

Spagetti Carbonara doesn't taste like Carbonara. I was charged twice for one meal. Portions are not the same - same meal for two people, one was large one was small. Service okay (apart from making mistake in final bill).

We had a family meal here last night to celebrate our Golden Wedding. Food was of average quality and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Won't be returning for a while to see if the experience improves!

Please be careful when dining at this restaurant. They will turn people away without reasons. Very unprofessional. We are a party of 10 and they decided we couldn't eat there.

Shocking service. The rude, stroppy Italian staff have done a terrible job all night, leaving one poor waitress to do the whole restaurant AND work in the kitchen to actually make some food appear. Delivered half of the tables starters, waited for those to finish before bring the other half, except one, who was then informed that there was none left and to order something else. We are at the 2 hour mark and still waiting for food ordered over an hour ago. Having booked in advance, and arrived at 4 oclock with the restaurant far from busy, there is no excuse. We will not be back.

All the table staff were rude and grumpy, waited at least half an hour for first course, then god knows how long for 2nd and dessert was a shambles . One table were waiting an hour before they got anything. Whe the young manager came she was very good and dealt with the situation perfectly I think her name was Cara, as for the rest time for a change of job I think. Definitely won't be back to that one I'll stick to the OMNI no issues ever there.

Meal was fantastic, lots to chose from. First time here and will definitely return. Our waitress was the loveliest girl, so cheery and good fun, can't remember her name Italian girl, she was wonderful

We have been here before and really enjoyed it but something went badly wrong tonight. We waited an hour for the food to come and all the tables around us were waiting/complaining. Our neighbouring table only received half of their order and then had to leave. Everyone was grumbling so the atmosphere was horrible. Felt sorry for the waiting staff, but they just looked tired and resigned as if this is a common occurrence. Our food when it eventually arrived was delicious, so no complaints there, but it was almost laughable to see the constant stream of takeaway pizzas leaving the building past hungry diners waiting to eat! Why on earth don’t you stop taking orders when you’re short staffed? Not the best dining experience and I can see from the reviews this is an ongoing problem.

Terrible experience, all orders come wrong, staff were terrible other than the lady serving us, felt like she was being bullied by the rest of the staff!

I have now visited several tony macaroni's throughout Scotland and it never fails to satisfy my cravings of a good pizza! I have to say, I usually order pizza so I cannot say much for pasta etc (they do look good though!) But, even on this occasion, the pizza we had was good and again, at a great price! Location looked less inspired than other that I've visited in the past but I'm sure you won't go there to look at the ceiling! Also a convenient location if you're arriving or leaving the city as it's on one of the main roads

Food was a disaster 1 out of 6 peoples meals were not to bad. Wrong orders from the chef! Hardly any food available. Managers attitude was to blame everyone else rather than taking responsibility. He put the full blame onto the waitress rather than the chefs which resulted in the waitress crying in the restaurant. Worst restaurant out of the chains

Food and service excellent and price great well worth the money

We’ve been coming to this Tony Macaroni for a long time as it’s always been fab, and unfortunately recently the standards seem to have slipped. When we visited the restaurant we waited for 45 minutes, and watched our food sit on the serving hatch for 10 minutes before anyone brought it over. The food was hot in some parts and cold in others as if it had been microwaved. We recently decided to order from there as our last delivery had been fantastic, unfortunately it took 2 hours to arrive, the food was cold and undercooked and we ended up being a bit ill afterwards. We probably won’t be returning.

Been to Tony Macaroni's twice in the last few months and been disappointed each time. This restaurant is under staffed. There is no management. The order was wrong, a very long wait between courses, had to clear our own plates. Nobody asked if we wanted anymore drinks. In the end they gave us an incorrect bill. They offered us a 25% discount after complaining.

Good pizza but the service was terrible, very slow and had to flag down the staff rather than have someone come over. Disappointing experience and unlikely to go back again.

I’ve done order online and ask for rigatoni carbonara but get penne carbonara. The carbonara is a very stron word cos it was penne with double cream. The item is described yolk and Parmesan but I think it have been left on shelve, there is also ingredient like salt! It’s very important Ben you cook so the food doesn’t taste bland! I’m very disappointed from an order. Paid nearly £40 and honestly I could make better meal the your “poor chefs” 👎👎👎👎

I like this place. The pizzas are good value. I had lunch mid week and it was quite quiet. The staff are attentive and the service good. A handy meal stopover on the way into or out of the north of Edinburgh.

Driving past we noticed that it was quite quiet so decided to nip in for dinner. It being so quiet on a Saturday night should’ve been the first red flag. Waited for ages just to be ignored whilst trying to order food. Had to ask another server just to take our order. My wife’s food came out on its own then 20 minutes after she finished the remaining food came out all of which were pizzas that were burnt and barely edible. They never even tried to offer an explanation or an apology. The constant stream of delivery drivers walking back and forth doesn’t do much for the ambience either.

Service has always been slow but it's been getting worse recently, culminating in last night's performance. Over 2 hours to be served drinks and main courses (of which not all arrived at same time) and ended up cancelling dessert (which hadn't even been started) after a further 30 minute wait. The restaurant wasn't busy but there didn't appear to be enough staff. The food was also unusually poor (cold, badly prepared, missing ingredients from previous visits) so I'm not sure if there's a bigger issue at play or we were just very unlucky to get both poor food and service. It's a shame because it's a good, large location and the food is usually decent and reasonably priced. Hopefully they can improve things but I don't think we'll be rushing back.

Just waited nearly an hour and a half only to be delivered cold food! We will not be using you again! Very disappointed

Ordered spaghetti carbonara,,, swimming in garlic and oil which shouldn't even be in a carbonara, ordered a chicken and chilli pizza which was ok and a portion of chips which looked like someone had ate some of ,,,,also waited a good 20-30mins ,, not a great experience to be honest

The staff was amazing. We attended today for a family meal for daughters 18th birthday. Food was amazing and my daughter was given a free cocktail as is was her birthday. The staff even brought out my daughter cake and sang happy birthday to her. The even gave my autistic daughter colouring in stuff too which was lovely to see.. thank you to all the staff for an amazing day

Went to the queensferry Road restaurant on a Fri at 6pm the restaurant itself wasn't very busy but it took about 15 minutes for anyone to come to the table to take an order. The food was very slow at coming out and when asked they said they had a lot of take away orders first. Trying to pay the bill was a problem too as we couldn't get anyone to take payment. Finally had to tell them we were making our way to the door if they wanted payment. Very disappointing the takeaway market has definitely spoiled this experience

Ordered online for delivery from the Queensferry Road restaurant. Mediterranean arrancini and a pizza. Order went through but received a phone call to say they had no cheese for the pizza!? I asked for the order to be cancelled and to be refunded but the MoS I spoke to couldn’t authorise the refund and a manager would need to call me back. Before a manager phoned the same MoS phoned me to say they now have cheese so I agreed to continue with the order. It took an hour to be delivered, and although the pizza was ok they sent the incorrect arrancini!! How difficult is it? However I couldn’t be bothered to contact them again. Not impressed at all especially as they charge 50p processing fee and £3.95 delivery!! I don’t think we’ll order from Toni Macaroni again or eat in the restaurant as we’ve not had good experience eating in either. Service is terrible and food is mediocre.

The pizzas and calamari were delicious! However the burger and fries came cold. There was only one waiter working, he was always occupied. Therefore we were left waiting a while even though our food was ready to be served.

Great food and service! Franco was our waiter, and he gave us great recommendations and was friendly fast, handsome, and efficient. Nice place for a casual supper!

Food was good as well as our service . Food was speedy in timing.

So we came in at 16:50 and we’re not provided with Presto menus but didn’t notice until after we had sat down as they were placed in the table before we sat. We then asked the young waitress a few minutes later for the Presto menu but she said it was too late, despite it still not being 17:00 when we asked her and I pointed this out to her. So I don’t understand why your website says it is available until 17:00 when apparently it’s not? Can you either put the correct time on your website or tell your staff to stop making it up as they go along as this is frustrating for customers.

Plenty of tables available, good range of options on the menu, very attentive staff and excellent food.

Ordered pizza for take away. When I came to collect it a member of staff was talking with other man. When I asked for my order his face looked like he wanted to punch me because I disturb him, and with attitude pointed where to go and said "there" and then they started laughing looking at me. Not really nice attitude towards costumers. In addition to that I paid extra for toppings 1£ and 2£ and I literally got just few pieces of sweetcorn, not enough for every slice and 4 pepperoni slices. This is just ridiculous, maybe for this amount of toppings you should lower you prices and stop ripping off your costumers

Went on a Saturday lunchtime and it was pretty quiet. Good, large thin crust pizzas and friendly service.

We had a lovely meal there yesterday very reasonably prices and good quality ingredients ' waiters were great.x

First take away- Food was fantastic full of flavour and very generous portions ( I would say seems large than what you get eating in).

Really authentic, family-friendly restaurant. The staff are great fun and my family will enjoy delicious food quite regularly.

It's hit and miss, sometimes it's tasty and other times it's inedible. If they could be consistent and ideally consistently good I'd eat more from them.

Food was fine but service was poor. When we asked if we could have a diet coke without ice the waiters were annoyed and were shaking there heads and had an intimidating look on there faces. They did change the drink but were unhappy about having to do this. We were in a group of different parties and when paying the bill we had to make one singular payment for everything, they did not allow us to pay for our individual meals separately. One star at most for service and will not be returning.

Un ristorante che mi ha sorpreso in positivo, non è facile trovare una cucina italiana che somigli a quella autentica, ma questo locale ha un bravo cuoco e riesce a offrire buoni piatti, specialmente se s tratta di pasta. Considering that is an Italian restaurant and from its name, I was hoping that their lazonia would be a pleasant suprise but actually was a bit boring. I will visit again just to taste their pizza as the majority of the customers were ordered it.

Unfortunately didn't order. Phoned takeaway number and rang out after 4/5 minutes. Phoned back and was answered within a minute but told please stay on the line. 10 minutes later on hold I gave up. Great pizza but don't set your heart on getting it! Sort out staffing /phones.

Good food, reasonably priced and orders taken by the very friendly and Charming Natasha, who is a real asset to the restaurant. She made us all feel so welcome. Hang on to her, she's too good to lose 😁

Disappointed in the meal I had this time at Tony Macaroni. Lager was also flat and cloudy. They gave us some explanation for the cloudy beer however it was definitely off. Manager not very apologetic but another waiter, when clearing our plates, offered to change my meal. They did give us a reduction in the bill without having to ask in place of my replacement meal. Redeemed themselves slightly.

Left before we ordered, manager was rude when seating us and then rude again when asking about GF options, he then mocked us on the way out the door thinking we’d left because of the no GF pizza’s, the guys a baldy helmet

Didn’t even get to ordering food before we decide to leave and try somewhere else to eat. The restaurant looked clean and was very quiet at the time. A member of stuff that may have been a manager escorted us to our table, chucked the menu’s on the table and walked away. No explanation of what menu was what. Didn’t ask if we would like any water or anything. We just decided to leave and take our service elsewhere.

The good value main courses can be eclipsed by extras...

The only thing that was really good was the young attendant who served us. The food didn't meet the expectations like others tony Macaroni I've been, some of the staff we're a bit arrogant... i won't be back again that's for sure

This restaurant is always clean and inviting as well as friendly. This visit was the same as always. Great menu and quick service. Pleasant music in the background. Worth a visit..or two.

I enjoyed my evening, food was fresh and tasty. A medium to low budget joint and rarely dissapointed when going in with an open mind. Staff pleasant, no delays and was clean and tidy. It is what it is.. A family orientated italian. Will go again, no doubt.

The food took so long, and the worst when i talked with manager Alterlo about it he treated me with disrespect and told me : do you see me setting doing nothing with disrespect and in a really impolite manner rising his voice ,, He really was disrespectful and impolite when dealing with his customer, I will never visit this place again
