Came here last night (25.04.25) for my boyfriends birthday on the Curry Train. From start to finish it was fantastic. Lovely attentive staff & great food! Thank you all :)! Will definitely be returning for my birthday in June.

Our annual visit from Merseyside to The Valley. The venue of our first date 30 years ago! We’ve seen lots of changes some good some not so good but we keep returning! Last nights meal was excellent. The whole experience was special. See you in 2026!

Outstanding food, friendly and efficient staff, lovely ambience. My husband likes a lot of chilli and I like very little, but we are both able to easily choose something that we find delicious. Absolutely our favourite local restaurant, we’d go far more often if it was a bit closer! Can’t believe the poor reviews on here, for us it’s been five star every time we’ve been.

Travelled from Newcastle by train to Corbridge for the day, ended the evening with a meal. We didn’t have a prior booking but were served drinks, ordered our food and taken to a table! The food was outstanding, but the star of the show was the gong, which is hit 5 minutes prior to the train back into Newcastle arriving!! There is even a side door which leads directly onto the train platform!! Perfect place for a date but genuinely impressed by the authentic food and friendly service

Awful! Extremely expensive and dreadful food! They forgot several items on our order and the onion bhajis were dry, the curries were average and it was probably the worst Indian meal we have ever had! The duck was tough and inedible! Needless to say, we would recommend you avoid eating here!

The bad reviews on here seem to be historical, not recent. We had possibly the best curry and best service ever. For a 60th birthday treat we booked a night in Newcastle and took the curry train. It's something out of the ordinary, a bit of fun. We were met by lovely polite staff. After pre dinner drinks we were shown to our table where the starters arrived immediately. The restaurant was busy (midweek) and had good atmosphere. Service was very attentive at every table. The chicken tikka was easily the best I have tasted. Larger pieces of chicken than normal but because of that it was juicy and tender. Amazing king prawns too - huge and cooked to perfection. After a surprise birthday dessert brought out by the staff we were advised that the return train had been cancelled! Amazingly, the owner insisted that his son drive us all the way back to Newcastle and absolutely wouldn't accept any payment! Excellent food with superb service. We will be back, and will use the curry train again.

My fiance and I went to this wonderful place on Saturday 12.10.24. We were met under the big clock at central station by two lovely guys who talked us through the menu and took our orders and drinks order for the train. They then took us to the platform and served our drinks on the train. We arrived at the restaurant and sat for drinks for a few moments and then were taken to our table. Every dish was delicious and the service was second to non, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent value for money. This experience is an absolute must! We will be back! The only thing I can say that could improve the overall experience and it is a small thing and was also mentioned by some other patrons; if maybe the guys whom meet us at the station to be dressed a bit more traditional, more regalia. Don't get me wrong they were smart, I just think it would enhance the experience even more.

Everything about my experience was wonderful. The restaurant itself is opulent and gorgeous. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. Our daughter and son in law took us to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary and they couldn’t have made a better choice of venue. They bought the curry train package. We were met at the railway station ( under the clock….) and made our choice from the menu. We then went to Corbridge by train. We had a terrific meal with a great selection of rice/sides/ naans and poppadums. We each chose a starter and main course. My lamb was beautifully tender and flavourful. We finished our meal with a selection of desserts- and a surprise dessert complete with sparkler. I heartily recommend The Valley. It was an exceptional experience. It

We arrived at 8. 15pm but our reservation was 8.30pm. We were asked to take a seat in reception at 8.30pm after a gentleman in a navy blue pinstriped suit asked us if we had a reservation. After that we were left for 20 mins before he asked us if we would. Like a drink which we requested a bottle of white one. Then we were left until 9.40pm when I noticed others who had followed us in much later were being asked for their orders for food. I then asked the gent wit the pinstripe suit when our table would be ready, he said he thought we were enjoying our drink and he was sorry he would’ve 30 seconds but I went to the bathroom on returning he my husband was still waiting and others if 6 or more were being given menu,s l. I again asked and he apologised saying i thought you were enjoying your drink, which is very patronising considering we had now being sitting an hour and a half and there were lots of tables spare. I have never had such poor service ever. Food was fine but it doesn’t make up for the lack of service and respect. If it wasn’t for the fact we were there for our 31st wedding anniversary we would have walked out but we were staying in Corbridge and had no other facility for food. I will never ever eat there again this spoilt our hole experience and celebration weekend. I have never been treated so badly ever.

Avoid takeaways from here, we ordered our food and were given a slot of 1745 for collection we arrived at 1745 and were told two minutes. We ended up waiting 20 minutes in total surrounded by drunks who had clearly been out all day. We asked where our food was and were told two minutes. When the food arrived we were handed the box from the manager with an apology, as we walked down the street he ran out with a missed rice and apologised again. When we got home we opened the box and found another rice was missing. They didn't really care when we called back and we are awaiting a refund for the rice. The food was very greasy, the naans were undercooked and poppadoms were stale. I won't be going back.

Over rated. Went on a Friday night with a family of 12, so wasn't unrealistic in expectations, however, still left disappointed. For a relatively expensive restaurant I though the service was really poor (20 mins just for drinks, 1hr plus before the starters arrived). Starters were good quality, mains mediocre. Don't mind paying decent amount but expect the standards to be better. Not a disaster, but far from what I expected, particularly in light of the other reviews.

Possibly our favourite Indian restaurant in the country, the setting is sublime and the curry train concept unique. The menu is extremely original and the beef dishes we've sampled the best we've ever had. Fabulous setting with every detail thought through. Expectations were raised by friends and colleagues ahead of my visit. On arrival building, setting, decor all very nice. Unfortunately the rest was underwhelming. Extensive menu but I struggled to identify what I wanted for main. Descriptions of the specials on the menu could have been better. I asked for a recommendation and they said go for a ‘classic’ dish like patia or madras which I thought was strange. Keema nan was good (although doughy and not hot), main dish was good. Kebab starter a little cold and bland but good. It was all just good but not ‘very’ good. I much prefer Zyka in Hexham which I gave 5 star.

I attended here with my wife and eight-year-old son as part of her birthday present. Curry train experience. I will comment mainly on the restaurant but the whole curry tree and experience was really fun overall. You arrive at the restaurant which is essentially built into the station at Corbridge. The restaurant itself is really cosy with a roaring fireplace and really attentive professional waiters. The food was absolutely exceptional. From the starters mains and deserts we were incredibly impressed. The portion sizes were really generous and overall the price was really reasonable. The staff were super attentive and friendly throughout. They made us feel right at home. After the meal we were worrying about getting across to the platform edge assuming we would take the same route that we took when initially arriving. With only a couple of minutes to go until the train was due the restaurant door opened and we were there literally on the platform. It was so funny and a bit of magical experience overall We will definitely do this again.
