What a hidden gem is this place..Hidden away behind the parade of shops by the Spa grocery. Up the new recently tarmac drive to the dead end of Valley Caravan Park. We have visited this establishment every year and always a lovely welcome by the boss lady . Good beer, nice choice of Merlot wine 🍷. The chilli, cheese chips we all ordered was one of the best meals we have eaten all week .. and £9.00 ! Elsewhere wound of been £16!!. Nice choice of menu and a excellent choice of vegan and vegetarian meals such maybe the boss is veggie? Great all round establishment , everyone friendly and chatty . Worth finding out at the beginning of your hols I’d say 👍

Drank and ate in here a few times. Fish & chips reasonably priced and tasty as was the chicken caesar salad. The rosé wine was a good price too. Staff were all nice and friendly and service was good. We will return

Evening Just had an amazing steak with canarian potatoes and salad it was a 2 for £18 on Tuesdays then followed a large chocolate sundae with cream layers of ice cream chocolate sauce and plenty of fresh chocolate brownie. The chef was awsome very friendly and gave me a taste into tomorrow's lunch. It was a very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere with music playing and had a pint of their Padstow Pale Ale recommended highly by the barman. Morning was a full double breakfast served with all the trimmings and a nice cappuccino. Overall very happy with the service and food from here good value for money many thanks

Made an extra effort to come here before 12 so we could have breakfast but when we went to order we were told they were not doing food. I informed the staff that they have a sign at the door saying they serve breakfast until 12 but was informed by an incredibly rude member of staff that that wasn't the case today. Service was absolutely appalling, no apology given. I would avoid as like me you could end up being left being very disappointed after being treated like that.

We were visiting the Valley caravan park at the beginning of July 2018 for a family wedding and stayed in one of their excellent apartments above the clubhouse. These are spacious clean and well equipped with a delightfully large balcony looking over the valley. We ate in the bar on two occasions and were very impressed. The staff members were all friendly, competent and efficient and whilst the menu is limited it would seem appropriate for the venue. We chose Fish and Chips which were so good that we went back and had the same again a few nights later. The fish was local, the chips large and perfectly cooked and the batter was crisp and delightful. I think this rates as one of the top fish and chips we have enjoyed anywhere in the world and that’s saying something as we travel a lot. The bar is well stocked with beer and a selection of average but acceptable wines. The bar staff were welcoming and knew how to pour a pint of Guinness – quite and art and often failed. The bar area is large with two separate areas plus a large deck outside with table benches which made for a comfortable option to enjoy an evening drink. Highly recommended.

Never disappoints!. Valley restaurant is by far one of the best places (probably the best) to eat in Polzeath. Amongst an array of overpriced restaurants and cafes serving distinctly average food, Valley Cafe is by far the best place to eat in the village. With a small straightforward menu, serving well-presented bar food at normal prices, super friendly service in a relaxed environment, just a few steps from the beach. We tried the halloumi burger and the Salt & Peper squid. Delicious!.

We stayed in May and the food and choice was fabulous, I would go as far as saying that it was the best food around, returned this week and we knew it would be our staple with our baby; oh no! It was like a youth club, with random people walking in and out of the kitchen, rolling up cigarettes, tying their hair up. There was a blackboard of food which was mainly burgers or chicken nuggets, and it was just cheap fast food at restaurant prices, we are sooooo gutted. Maybe it's the end of the season and this is why?!? Please please go back to how it was.

First time we have been here, dispite walking past for years. Friendly staff, and pleasant surroundings. Only burgers on the night we went (main away for a couple of days), tasty and good value. We will go back. Makes a nice change from the oyster catcher.

Found this little campsite with a lovely bar. It's friendly staff will serve your delicious food and drinks with a beautiful smile. It is perfectly quiet as it is situated merely 150yrds away from the main hustle and bustle of the village. So much better than the the other 'Wetherspoon' style establishments.

Enjoyed a few family evenings in the bar/cafe. Had a lovely meal and drinkers very reasonably priced. The quiz night, bingo night and live music were most enjoyable too. The location is suitable for all ages and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

While staying in one of the caravans on the site, we visited this bar a couple of times. The first time there was music on and a very lively atmosphere. However this was a family get together and we had just turned up and wanted to talk. No problem, there was plenty of seating and enough of it out of the full range of the speakers. The following evening after a meal elsewhere, we returned to the Valley Bar for a couple of drinks before returning to our caravan. A perfectly nice café and bar with friendly staff. We didn't eat there, but the menu looked good, as did the prices.

The Tolcarne Inn is a pub in Newlyn, Cornwall, just outside of Penzance. I happened to be on my way to watch a film about an Irish architect, when I stopped in the Tolcarne Inn for lunch. Suspicious of gastro pubs, ranging from uppity to down-facing. Ladies were pleasant, very quiet clientele, like a village pub. I sat by the window with my book about the cognitive decline of Joe Biden, but when the food came, I forgot about Uncle Joe entirely. I ordered turbot with hollandaise sauce and asparagus, a side of boiled “Cornish dailies” and a white Americano. A warning about “small plates”. Quite, quite. You could have lost the fish in the wash, the two asparagus were stolen from a fisher-maid’s garden, the hollaindaise failed to mask the paltry dimensions. The bowl of potatoes, lathered in butter and dill, was substantial, boasting my fish like a thin man wearing large clothes. (£25 for the lot. Suspicious? I thought so too.) After the first mouthful, I was shocked. I chewed slowly, methodically, the flavours informing my tongue. The turbot was cooked with rock salt; the flesh keeps shape, easy to pull apart. The hollandaise has none of that wiry flavour; it’s smooth, not unlike a Bailey’s. Asparagus are tender, simple. Boiled “Cornish dailies” - new potatoes - are tender too. Dill and butter not overpowering. When you are filled with shock during a meal, this usually comes from the waitress dropping your plate, or some punter attacking the bar, but rarely the food. My modest meal shocked me. I forgot about Joe Biden, remembering my youth. Perfect fresh fish - prepared differently in Bermuda, but the same sensation. The outside world vanishes. Flawless food. Tourists ambling in and out of the pub, acting like the Inn was just another watering hole. No, no, no. My little turbot and asparagus and potatoes forced me back into the shell of my youth, I thought about people thinking about youth; what form it took, and so on. Walker is in shock, on the verge of tears. Now, at this point, you reach out and touch your partner’s hand, but I was alone. So the waitress came over and asked, “Is your food alright?” Because I’m thinking about time and space, prompted by the excellent food, I look up slowly, like a post-operative patient jigged back to life. “It’s flawless,” I said. “Suspiciously flawless,” I added. She smiles, walks away. Meanwhile another customer - frothy, biscuit-shirted - has the audacity to say their beer is “a bit frothy” when archangels and medcine men craft in the kitchen like so many Cornish saints. A chef peers out of the kitchen, catching my eye. A smug smile on his face. “Yes, you are God,” I want to say; I want to sing this from Newlyn to Planet Neptune.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here. I had roast lamb and my wife had roast beef, very very tasty. For dessert I opted for the superb bread and butter pudding with clotted cream whilst my wife savoured the " St. Buryan Mess" which was delicious. The staff were lovely and our three dogs were welcome. All in all super pub food in a great location.
