Valenti's Gelato Venue in Plymouth

What a lovely place- very friendly girl who was serving with a lovely kind smile- you can have a few scopes in a tub or on a cone- I had a small tub with one scope of the caramel biscuit which in honesty filled the tub.. she let me try a few different ones for free for when I want to come again.. very clean. Lots of different choices to choose from.. I think I’ll try the chocolate one next time that my friend had. Definitely will be going back

Not homemade waffles What a let down This should be written up As it’s £7.50 for a waffle But it’s a shop brought one And just warmed up in a waffle maker 🤦🏽‍♀️ So naughty Not a patch on the shop in the city centre

A good range of flavours choices to pick from. Fresh and fragrant fruit flavours. Pricing was slightly expensive but worth it.

I visit this place not to long ago the staff were extremely polite and welcoming I have a lactose intolerance I asked about your dairy free options the staff were very knowledgeable and directed me to your dairy free section I chose the melon sorbet and it was incredible 100% will be back

We are locals and we love the ice cream at this shop. Ice cream is delicious but on several occasions since 2019 we have been charged more than we should pay. The ice cream is already expansive and to be charged more is cheeky. The other day we were charged £2 more and stuff is not friendly and acts clueless when asked why they charge different on different shifts. Before you pay ask how much it cost as you won’t see the total on the till as they use an iPad.

Paid more than I'm happy with for a watery cheap tasting smoothie. Staff were unhelpful and it ended up in the bin. Disappointing.

I stopped by Valentis as my son wanted a smoothie. I was charged £4 for a watery mess that consisted of mostly value brand apple juice from a carton and a miniscule amount of banana and strawberry. Really disappointed and felt very ripped off.

Not friendly staff, Average quality, think the ice creams are from a central supplier. Not a “must go” place.

We keep going back. Lots of great flavours with a changing menu daily. Some unusual flavours e.g turkish delight. This has become our place to come for dessert each evening of our holiday

We visited here as a family because we love gelato and this was great. We had cones with 2 choices of flavour ice creams and they were all delicious. There's a great choice of flavours and the portions were generous but cost us over £20 for the 4 cones.

I visited this location once and knew I had to come back. The flavors are all delicious and the customer service is unmatched. I visited this location four times in two days because Carly recognme and my friend the second time and continued to give us the same level of service at every visit. I highly recommend this location - great ice cream, great service, and great location!

The quality of the ice cream is insanely good. Every flavour I try is amazing! Bueno , peanut butter and cherry bakewell need to be a regular option. They’re SO good! Slightly more expensive than your average ice cream van, but you get what you pay for. All I can say is, if you’ve not been before- ask for a sample of one and you’ll be hooked. The portions aren’t stingy which is great, because it’s easy to feel ripped off if they are! They also have sundaes and waffles which are a delicious treat. A member of staff even gave my pup a ‘puppychino’ which was so lovely of her! Ben and Jerry’s who?

Popped in here with my mum as it's somewhere new and because I've heard such good things - brilliant for hot day! First of all, we only had a small basic cone/size and I have to say it was a really generous portion - I struggled to eat it all which says a lot for me! Mum had the honeycomb we she loved and I tried the avocado and lime sorbet which was surprisingly good, don't be put off by the avocado! It was very creamy and didn't melt easily like sorbets normally do. All in all this is definitely somewhere I would go back to, intrigued to see what other flavours they will bring out.

This place at the barbican has very friendly and helpful staff. The café/ice cream parlour was wonderfully clean and inviting, But...….. I know the ice cream is home made and there are overheads etc etc etc, but I do feel that what is on offer is a bit overpriced. £2.45 for a tiny tub ( with a false bottom to make it even smaller, like they do with expensive face creams ) is pushing it a bit, and may I also suggest That gluten free cones would be nice. It is so difficult to get some things anywhere for people with an illness, after all there is a gluten free chip shop very close by and they seem to be doing a roaring trade. Apart from that, it would take a lot to beat what is an exceptional product.

Took along time to get served, it wasn’t busy, then even longer to get drinks. Mocha was horrible and in a glass with no handle - hot drink in a glass with no handle?? Disappointing and overpriced.

Not bad ice cream in the main shop but I wish it was more like gelato. More interested at the moment in the sign that has appeared in Valenti’s other premises just across the road (still with Blue Glacier signage) which is advertising the imminent launch of ‘Cornish Chimney Cones) presumably in time for Christmas. Chimney Cone are all the rage in Europe and North America. I hope we see them in Plymouth soon.

Valenti's was a spur of the moment visit - a good place to watch Calstock regatta. All our party agreed that we had to best ice-creams ever encountered in the UK. And, a loyalty card is an added bonus and incentive for return.

We popped in here for a desert after a disappointing Chinese meal nearby both having a Tamar sundae. Two scoops of ice cream with toppings and squirty cream. Really delicious and I thought great value.

It was late afternoon, we were two families and in desperate need of something sweet. The venue was about to close, they were cleaning but they still served us. It was one of the best icecreams I`ve ever eaten. Really tasty with, lots of bits in it, my kid chose an Oreo ice cream which to be honest it had more Oreo than an Oreo biscuit. You have to try it. It's probably the best in Plymouth.

We visited on a very hot day and were looking forward to a cool, refreshing ice cream. Unfortunately although creamy and with generous portions, the advertised flavours were sadly lacking. Both my wife's lemon curd and my fruits of the forest were bland at best. Disappointing!

Ordered the humongous sharing sundae with my partner, with 5 flavours. He couldn't get enough of the strawberry while I loved the caramel and chocolate. OH not normally a dessert person but has been pestering to go back ever since.

Had a ice cream served in a Easter egg which was amazing. My husband had a sundae, the ferrero rocher one seemed a little puzzled that it didn’t come with one! Would come back

Came here for ice cream, clean place but prices are high. The ice creams weren’t even that nice.

Didn't realise there was a gelato shop on the Barbican so we had to try it and so glad we did. Amazing ice cream and good value for money.

Pushchair friendly. Nicely decorated and lovely and clean. Sensible price cone and tubs to eat in or take out.

Lovely ice cream shop at the Barbican's in Plymouth. Good range of flavours and very nice presentation. We chose the strawberry & cream, chocolate and Ferraro Roche flavours. All amazing. The shop has a seating area for eating in. Very clean throughout and staff very friendly.

We visited on Saturday night. Brilliant selection of ice-creams, all of our choices were absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend the cappuccino and honeycomb flavours.

Brilliant range of ice cream of all flavours you could imagine. I liked you could make your own sundae rather than having to keep to a set menu. If you want to go for a treat then i would reccomend. the cafe was welcoming and i loved the decor

Went to try out with my daughter as she loves ice cream.. we were warmly welcomed into the cafe.. a wide variety of ice creams stared at me through the glass cabinets... I had chocolate and hokey pokey man while my daughter had chocolate and Ferraro rocher ice cream. Both full of flavour and very good. Would definitely recommend to anyone. If you like ice cream this place is a must try

Brought my 2 teenagers for a celebratory ice cream. They both had a chocolate brownie waffle and love love loved them!! The staff were friendly and polite.... A big 👍

This shop isn't the most obvious one in the Barbican, but worth tracking down. The staff were very patient and helpful whilst we deliberated which flavours to try. We would recommend the peach and apricot sorbet - very strong, fresh flavour. The passion fruit ice cream was very creamy but more subtle in flavour.

Lovely take away or sit down. Interesting flavours and nice staff. Late opening. Worth a try. Good stop off after a walk along the barbarian.

Check there closing time and take 15-20 minutes off as they shut there shutters and door before the time they should. Was there at 8.40 at it was all shut up. Plus NEVER buy a 500 ml bottle of coke from them as made this mistake last time I went and they charge £2.00 a bottle

What can I say, I will definitely be visiting again! I visited with my two children weekend just been. Such a wide range of different ice creams, so many to choose from. Really good quality and delicious. What a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and decent portion sizes. I will defiantly be coming back in soon and I will be recommending this place to all of my friends and family or anyone visiting the area.

I have visited this Gelato shop several times since it opened. It is good value for money and the gelato is divine. They have a good range of Gelato and Sorbets, hot drinks and made to order food. It is open late and myself and my partner use it as an alternative evening out to having to go to a pub or bar, we can sit and drink coffee and eat icecream whilst chatting. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get my order although it can seem like a lifetime when youre drooling at icecream.

We stopped by, randomly, after a fine lunch at Harbourside. The gelato was excellent. We liked the selection of cones and the possibility to have sorbet. We will go back.

This is our second visit to Valenti's and we love it! It is difficult to find an ice cream parlour with any sorbet at all, but the selection is huge with some unusual flavours. Lovely, warm service and affordable prices.We had a sundae as well as 2 scoops of sorbet for £6.95 - not bad prices at all! The interior is decorated nicely and all the premises are clean. Can't wait to come again!

Great quality ice cream and enjoyed with a waffle, tried the peanut butter ice cream, very tasty and Mrs O had the strawberry with fresh strawberries that were apparently very tasty as well, happiness all round 😊

A nice range of flavours and great variety of ways to have this, tubs cones ect. Also eat in specials ice banana splits and sundae's Nice large portions.

Gorgeous ice cream, lots of different flavours to choose from and the staff let you sample them before choosing, although because they're all so nice I'm not sure how helpful this is! Once you've deliberated and finally made your choice the staff will then make gorgeous Sundaes etc beautifully presented.

Early evening in February might not seem an ideal time to visit an ice cream parlour. We enjoyed it and will be back in better weather to give it another try.

Visited as a family with several friends. They ordered ice creams and we ordered coffees. The ice creams were ready within a couple of minutes but there was no sign of our hot drinks after 25 minutes. Having already paid, I asked where the drinks were and was told "we are busy". Sure, it was busy, but it would be nice to be told about that when or before we ordered and had paid for parking. On top of that, no apology was offered.

I have visited this venue 4 times in the past asking if they serve crepes and each time I have been told that the machine was not on. Yesterday I visited and we stopped outside so my partner could run in and ask on the off chance if they were serving them which to his surprise the lady behind the counter said yes she was just making one. So we paid for parking and went inside. We stood waiting for just over 5 minutes while the lady finished making a crepe and served one other customer. When we then went to order there were 4 other people in the shop and no signs of any other customers, it was 13.45. We asked the lady for a crepe (after she had said already that she was serving them) to which she replied, 'right, you have just seen how long it takes to make a crepe and I am just about to get busy now so you will have to wait until 14.00'. This confused me as being a freezing cold February day with hardly any people on the Barbican and nobody about to come into their shop I could not understand how she could predict the forthcoming rush? We said we did not want to wait as we had not put long on parking as had only stopped for this but the lady would not make any crepes so I said we would leave. She was not apologetic in the slightest so we had wasted money on parking for nothing because it seemed like she could not be bothered to make the order that we had asked for.

Tried Valentis today and was so glad we did even though it was pouring with rain! The selection was second to none and the taste the same, definitely recommend the rum and raisin. The service and friendliness was 1st class as well. Will definitely recommend and return.

We visited Valenti's twice during christmas week . 1st visit was on the Bank Holiday and it was very busy with only 1 server so slight delay .

Took our granddaughter for an ice cream treat. It was lovely. Great selection of ice creams. Some quite out of the ordinary. It was Halloween and she had strawberries and scream!!!! It was green which is her favourite colour and she loved it. There were adult flavours too!!!!

excellent range of ice creams and sorbets, the staff are always friendly and after a few visits they now recognise us! may seem a bit pricey but the quality overcomes that. cannot reccomend this place highly enough

I have visited Valentis on a number of occasions and each time the staff have been so polite, friendly and helpful, the flavours are so fantastic and the quality is superb I am really impressed and the coffe is really good. the last time I went I tried the ricotta and fig just delicious, The shop is really clean and bright a very pleasant experience .

We visit Valenti's often, the ice cream is fantastic, the shop is lovely and clean and the service is great. The staff have always been very kind to my daughter, even replacing an ice cream for her that she didn't like- it's these little things that keep us coming back.

Wouldn't recommend if u need allergen information. I noticed this fairly new store recently. I have to follow a gluten free diet and I nipped in to ask if they had GF options. They said they had lots of GF options and full allergen information.

This place was end of our evening and what a way to finish. Delicious ices. Served by friendly charming hosts who encouraged us to try before we buy. Loved the place. Will be back for more definitely xxx

Delicious ice creams, some unusual flavours to try, good value, friendly staff, clean environment, all in all not to be missed.

This place has been open for just under 4 months, the company has been going for over 100 years. Great selection of Ice Creams and sorbets, locally made in Calstock, we had two scoops each in a tub and eat these in the establishment. Very nice, reminded me of a decent Gelato in Rome.

Had fish and chips sat by the sea and then went for a wander, it was early evening so did not expect to find much open but this ice cream shop was.

Fairly large modern premises where you can enjoy your ice cream and / or hot drinks indoors if you prefer.

Had a meal elsewhere that did not do ice-cream, came across this place. Clean, Bright, good engaged staff. Great range of flavours and cones. The cassis (Blackberry) was outstanding. Not cheap but did feel it was value for money

I Was try to find a ice cream shop to treat childrem and what a find ! The shop is clean, the staf attentive but the most important the " gelato " , it so delicious, tasty , well make. I fortgot to say CREMY.

Decided to treat the kids and it was less expensive than I expected (though still not cheap!). Lots of great flavours and lots of cones to choose from. Was good to see they do kids size too.

This place is sooooooo much better than Sundaes. Great choice, friendly staff, nice bit of banter, clean and bright. Great story of the company on the walls I enjoyed reading. The gelato is creamy and delicious and they let you try it before you decide. Don't waste your money in Sundaes, come here.

We organized a treasure hunt for a group of 24, went in and asked if we could use the venue as a finishing point. Spent a wonderful 2 hours in there today, staff couldn't have been more helpful, ice cream was scrumptious. Everyone was really impressed with the place and we will definitely be going there again. I'm so glad I stumbled on this place taking the wrong turning on the Barbican! It absolutely blows the Gelato place on Royal Parade out of the water. The flavours are so true to how they're labelled and are also lovely and fresh. There is a very large selection of sorbets compared to anywhere else I've been too which is lovely if you're looking for a healthier option. I've been twice in this week and all the flavours were completely different so I would say they are changed up very frequently.

I was so excited when this place opened because I'm always looking for a nice and real gelato. My quest is now over thanks to this place. I'm Italian and I have a huge experience when it comes to gelato, this is how real Italian gelato should be! Lots of flavours and most of them are the staples of Italian tradition (Bacio, Bacio Bianco, Malaga, Limoncello, Ricotta and figs), even the interiors are very Italian-like! I'm recommending this place to all the people I know because it's really a good place!

There is plenty to choose from in this must visit ice cream/ gelati house. The venue has internal seating and is warm and hospitable. Servings sizes were adequate, but not overly large. Flavours and choices available should satisfy even the most picky of customers. You could do a lot worse than visit here. Thoroughly recommend it for a great dessert

The must visit place for ice cream lovers! The ice cream was delicious and the choice of flavours fantastic. The service was friendly and polite and the scoop sizes were generous. We tried 6 different flavours between us (one as a shake) and none of them disappointed. Having tried the Italian Gelato in Rome, these ice creams compared very favourably. We shall definitely be returning when we come back to Plymouth. There's an extensive menu to work our way through : )

Ice cream the italian way. Where the flavours are simple and fresh, changing very often but with a large choice and also you can truly taste the actual thing! That's some PROPER gelato there. I would personally recommend Blueberry, matcha green tea and nocciola but everything seems always yummy.

Popped in for a couple of cornets during a walk around the Barbican. Lovely choice of ice cream including sorbet and dairy free, so diet and vegan friendly!

We popped in here for a nice treat one evening and enjoyed lovely ice cream, coffee and waffles. Service was really friendly and relaxed. We'll be coming back often.

This is ice cream as it should be, delicious, creamy and full of flavour. Excellent service, sensible prices and a huge choice.

Walking back from lunch we saw that Valenti's was open and as I have a particular weakness for Gelato we had to go in. Very nice people and excellent choice of gelato, my Wife had a scoop of Lime Sorbet and a scoop of mango sorbet, the lime in particular was superb. My gelato was also delicious and there were so many others to choose from!! we must go back for more!!! I must add this is the Valenti's in the Barbican, not that place on the Hoe!

Citadel Ope has been the home of the best Ice cream in Plymouth since the 60s. Sadly Prete's closed through retirement about a year ago. A couple of businesses continued on the other side of Southside St and one remains. The larger unit behind the charity shop on the corner onto the Parade and towards Notte St has had a series of fun occupants ranging from branch of the Westward Bound fetish shop, a photos on canvas shop and a fishing tackle business, but now a lot of work has been done by the newest owners who have turned it into a fancy but very determined and committed effort to provide Plymouth's best ice cream shop/cafe with a bright exterior and a cute neon type lit interior. Most important is the ice cream itself. The family who have traded in the city and the Tamar Valley for decades have gained great experience and I think also run an artisan ice cream training school at Calstock. The production machinery and that in the shop has all been carefully sliced and imported from Italy. As have the cornets! The techniques and ingedients are as close as the family can make them to their understanding of Italian gelato methods and the examples that I tried were certainly denser, creamier and more distinct that the conventional British seaside product. I liked it and will come back. A large scoop single cone is probably cheaper than those in the places over the road, in the Island House and in the seasonal van and the faux tram which park near the marina when the sun shines.
