If you’re looking for ice cream in Calstock, then look no further. This gelato artisan situated on the river front is the perfect place to buy an ice cream. With a wide range of flavours and special offers (eg sundaes and waffle cone specials) available, this shop caters for everyone including having sorbet options. There is a seating area available outside to enjoy your ice cream. I would recommend this shop, but did not give it five stars as the prices are slightly expensive for ‘ice cream’.

I visited this shop to hear what I assume was the male manager ranting and screaming at the top of his voice to somebody on the telephone.Soon after he was heard shouting abuse at the female staff members. He in fact reduced the girls to tears. It transpired that they had left a freezer door slightly open while serving customers.Other customers were visibly taken aback by this behaviour. This manager should be sacked on the spot for threatening behaviour.Having spoken to the staff this behaviour is not an isolated incident.

Whilst on the expensive side, the quality of the ice creams and sorbets are just amazing. Gelato at its best and somewhere you should visit even in a cold day!

We were visiting cotehele house for the day and had heard about this place.. we Googled it and found their page which said they were "open". We drove to calstock only to find that they were closed. It was 15:00. Not happy. Oh well obviously they don't need the business. May be a good idea to update your Google listing as a lot of people use this when in an unknown area...

Welcoming little gelateria with a reasonable range of ice creams. The portions are generous. They are very creamy (too much so for me) but I think I am in the minority. Dogs allowed inside. Coffees available too. You can sit outside and enjoy the weather and fab view of the viaduct/river.

We called to Valentis for ice-cream (which is the best for miles) and sat on their terrace to eat. It was so pleasant sitting there watching the river that we ordered coffee afterwards and sat for a further half an hour. What better can you do than sit and watch the river and eat ice cream?

On a scorching hot day what is better that an ice cream ... what's more in a beautiful setting. This ice cream shop ticks both of those boxes.

Was recommend Calstock for a walk along the river. Bit of a ghost town in the winter except for the saving grace of Valenti’s. We were dying for a coffee and he made a great one which we enjoyed on a table overlooking the river. We went for the river walk which was lovely and returned for one of the delicious ice creams again sitting out on the deck in the warm sun.

While walking in the area and having had lunch nearby, we wanted pudding. About 8 of us had a variety of ice-creams. One scoop was very generous and plenty. Mine was chocolate cookie and was delicious!

We arrived at Calstock to try Valentis as it was recommend by family . We arrived early and had a coffee in a quaint coffee shop then had a walk around the village and waited from 11:00am for the shop to open but left at 11:30 as no one showed up for it to open at 11:00 am as advertised, we visited a national trust property not far away and came back in the afternoon to find it now open. We made our choice of dishes but I had to change mine as they had no bananas in the shop which was a bit annoying . I asked if I could have extra ice cream instead of the banana but was told no as it would not fit into the dish. What I ended up with was ok but I certainly would not go out of my way again when in the area to revisit .

Cannot say enough about what good quality at what great prices you can get from Valenti's. We visit every year, and always come away with a smile on the face. They offer such high quality and flavoursome ice cream, with the occasional quirky offering. Best value ice creams, in the U.K. ! Just visit and you will not be disappointed.

This place in Calstock is good for little kids and groups of hiking pensioners. There is a wide and well made selection of artisan ice creams. Not as distinctive gelato as I had expected but very good on the ice cream spectrum. This is a bit of a grander venue than you would expect in a little waterside inland village so worth taking advantage of but, having experienced the more recent Plymouth branch which is more in the style of an American ice cream parlour I think I prefer the one in town. Although at the moment all ice cream is made at Calstock I understand that sometime comparatively soon there will be another production unit in Southside St Plymouth just across the road from the parlour. All credit to the owners of the business. They are doing it better than anyone else locally in town or village. Pity though they don't get someone to proof read their informative posters.

We were looking around Calstock before heading to the station and saw this place next to the quay and the village bus stop. I popped in to get 2 separate scoops of ice cream which were both delicious and only £1.95 so good value too. The café is quite spacious and nicely decorated inside but they have an amazing verandah on the riverside - what a view!

Wandering randomly along the Tamar from Cotehele today, we ended up in Calstock and didn't expect to find much open on a chilly January afternoon. Not only did we find a friendly pub serving lunch, but also a full-on authentic Italian gelato experience: an amazing find. It's never too cold for gelato and we had two scoops each, alongside two very generous flat whites to warm us up and provide a caffeine hit for the walk back. All four flavours we tried were amazing - particularly the Kernow Pride super-creamy vanilla, which is probably the best ice cream I've ever eaten. The stracciatella, hokey pokey and pecan/caramel were also very fine. I love ice cream and the gelato here knocked spots off gelato from widely reviewed Italian ice-cream venues in London we've visited. An absolute gem to find in an unexpected location: thank goodness we've discovered Valenti's in good time for summer.

Now THAT, is what I call ice cream! You have to go with whatever flavours they are selling on the day (but still a good range) but I could guarantee you'll love them. They were so good I finished one and then had a second ..... yummy !

We had heard good things from friends of this ice cream so decided to treat ourselves after a walk from Cotehele through the woods with the dog. A beautiful day and ideal spot to have a rest and a treat. We tried the double tubs, my husband had the Violet and a Honeycomb one with an unusual name like okey cokey? I had the Salted caramel and the Blackcurrant.

On a cold, grey Easter day, 16 bedraggled walkers pitched up in Calstock with some time to spare before catching the train back to Plymouth. Half the group spotted the ice cream parlour and went "Ice cream; it's got to be done". OK, the sun wasn't shining and to be honest it was pretty freezing outside but there was a warm welcome inside, the ice cream was delicious and the coffee was pretty good too
