The Queens Head in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Queen’s Head in St Stephen, Cornwall, and I can’t say enough about how wonderful the experience was. The roast dinner was an absolute standout—perfectly cooked meat, tender and flavorful, paired with golden, crispy roast potatoes that were some of the best I’ve ever had. The homemade Yorkshire puddings were a delight, light and fluffy, and the generous helping of rich gravy tied it all together beautifully. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into the food here, making it a proper Sunday treat. The atmosphere in the pub is just as impressive. It’s a charming, cozy spot with a warm, welcoming vibe—think crackling woodburners, friendly chatter from locals, and that quintessential Cornish village charm. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home, whether you’re a regular or just passing through. The beer garden and play area out back are lovely touches too, perfect for a sunny day. The staff truly elevate the whole experience. They’re incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely seem to enjoy what they do. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and made to feel like valued guests. Service was spot-on—quick without feeling rushed—and they were happy to chat and offer recommendations. All in all, The Queen’s Head is a gem. The roast dinner alone is worth the visit, but the fantastic atmosphere and lovely staff make it a place I’ll be eager to return to. Highly recommend!

Quite busy when I visited on a Sunday afternoon with live music. Didn't eat here, just a beer. Beer garden for those nicer days. Free parking.

Went for the £5.95 roast buffet. Good food, excellent value, friendly staff. Looking forward to returning. Definitely recommend.

Didn't eat here, only drank. It is a great hub for the village. Full of friendly locals and tourists alike. A good old fashioned village pub.

We really enjoyed a fantastic family gathering here, including Sunday Roast dinner and plenty of drinks. Very friendly atmosphere and staff. Would recommend 👌 ❤️

A Quiet Community pub . Just watched Bar staff celebrate an elderly customers birthday with a cake (yes small but the thought was most definatly there ),candles a round of happy birthday from the bar and the rest of her usual daily lunch etc free of charge . Plus one of the bar staff walked her across the road home (lady has apparently early onset dementia and recently lost her husband ) That's what communities miss when the local closes. Well done the staff of the Queens Head

Had food here for second time it is well worth the money 💰 and really tasty and service is good worth a visit

Lovely roast carvery, Gammon, Turkey, roasties , cauliflower cheese , tunip/carrott mash ,and big Yorkshire pudding, very yummy.

Local pub with great atmosphere. Stopped for dinner on our way through. Good was amazing. Generous sized portions, not overpriced. Veggie lasagna was 1st class. Waitress was friendly, courteous and helpful. Would definitely recommend this pub and will eat here again if passing.

Good quality traditional pub food nicely presented at fair prices and in satisfying quantity. Found this place after a walk at Tregargus and will definitely eat there again. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Didn't stay in the hotel but went to the pub. Ot was pretty cheap the bar staff were very welcoming ,polite and a good laugh. Disco music after 9pm. All round enjoyable night.

What a gem of a pub situated in this old Cornish village. It's a St. Austell brewery house situated right by the church with their own good sized car park. The beers were all in top condition, Tribute and my favourite, Hicks. I visited on a Friday when they had a fish special on the menu. I wasn't eating, but saw many other customers who were served with the most magnificent portions of either fish or scampi with chips and peas for £5.95 a head. All cooked fresh to order and piping hot. They also have carvery, steak and live music nights... Well worth a visit... I'll certainly be visiting again.!

A lovely little pub , with plenty of character, old wooden beams , wood burning stove , so deceiving from the outside looked small but once inside opened up to give plenty of room, well decorated & a friendly warm welcome by staff . We had a Sunday roast which was excellent value for money at £8.95 for a regular size plenty of food, well presented & tasty. Staff were friendly & attentive. Will definitely use again.

Went last night. It was as busy as ever, but had a great atmosphere. We always come here for a treat when visiting friends and family. The food was exceptional. The rump steak was amoung the best steak I've eve had. The cut of meat was perfect (and generous sized), it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The chef (and butcher) need an award! The rest of our group had a mixture of meals, including the kids meals, and we were all very happy. (they had an issue with the tills and tech, meaning the already busy staff were under enormous pressure, but they were all absolutely brilliant)... See you soon.

Just stumbled across this busy pub and was fortunate enough to find the last available table, what a treat, food superb.

It was ok, staff friendly but food average and not cheap. Dropped in for lunch, lunch menu's a bit limited - although the option of a cooked breakfast and a range of salads was also on offer. We opted for jacket potatoes, one with chilli and one with coronation chicken. Chilli was tasty enough but the chicken was pretty bland. Service was friendly but not desperately fast. As l said, it was okay but there are better places around locally

Great place, great food and great atmosphere

This is a great little pub with a relaxed atmosphere and really lovely staff who made the visit a pleasure. The food was very good too - we had chicken burger, cheese burger, kids pizza and kids sausage and mash. No complaints at all. We'll definitely go back. The garden has a little play area but isn't a very nice place to sit or eat so if they had this area properly paved and lanscaped with some nice planters etc it would be a 5 star for us.

It's an OK village pub,nice staff,but ,richer,people seem to use it more,.

What a lucky find, set back off the main road lies the Queen's Head, we called in by chance for food and were made very welcome despite them being very busy they made us welcome and found us a nice table. The service, food quality friendliness and cleanliness was outstanding. A must to call back too.

Was recommended this pub as somewhere to eat by the Tremarne Campsite and was very impressed by the size and quality of the meals. Service was good but really it was all about the quality of food and value for money. Good selection of meals and drinks and a good atmosphere.

Just moved to the village, first time visiting The Queens Head. Fish and chips were delicious the best I have had in a very long time. Staff very friendly, efficient and welcoming, definitely be visiting again.
