Wonderful food. Fresh seafood and delightful flavours. Have visited each time we come to padstow over the last 4 years and each time they surpass expectations.

This is truly fabulous food. A small venue, but a nice ambiance. It’s quite pricey, however if you have one expensive meal in Padstow, then would highly recommend you come here. The food was delicious

My son wanted some nice fishy bits and this place certainly delivered. It’s not the biggest of venues but the staff were amazingly friendly and attentive. It’s not the cheapest of eateries but it clearly goes for quality and taste and if fish is your thing this is the place for you!

Great seafood tapas in the tiniest of restaurants but super chilled out, lovely people and good music. I would highly recommend compared to the usual Cornish offering!!!!

We had a wonderful family meal here on Wednesday evening. Really loved the decor and vibe inside - staff were friendly and attentive, suggesting adaptations to the main menu for our 2 young children who loved it here. Exceptional value for money given the quality of the food on offer here - stand outs were the hake and the scallops. Would happily spread that seaweed butter on my toast every morning!! Lovely to be able to sample local ales from Padstow Brewing Company across the road. Really special evening, thank you!

I came to restaurant 5 years ago on my first trip to Cornwall. We had to come back again this time. We loved it and can’t fault anything. We ordered most of menu and everything was perfection on a plate. The service was on point, food was perfect. Atmosphere amazing one of the best restaurants we have ever been too.

Nice food, not cheap, super busy (maybe because of Easter)

Torn between 4 or 5 stars. Food crazy good, seriously well executed, beautiful flavours in every dish (tapas style we went for). Portions small but balanced. Wine mark up a bit high (£17 retail vs £49 in restaurant). Overall, we would definitely return. One of the best tasting seafood experiences to date.

A compact and bijou space, attentive service and some great food partnering using fresh produce. Wine prices are on the hefty side, so ordering by the glass is a relief.

BEAUTIFUL food. We had 5 of the small plates and each one was incredible. The staff were incredibly attentive, topping up wine and water glasses throughout the meal. All seafood is locally and ethically sourced. Will be returning when we are down in Padstow again!

Booked here by default due to the closure of The Mussel Box, and so very glad we did. Tucked away in quiet Duke St, this has a casual ambience but there is nothing casual about the quality of the food. Delicious small plates from start to finish. Highlights have to be the: - Deep fried oysters, light as a cloud - Thai Scallops, rich in flavour and cooked to perfection - Red Gurnard Efficient, knowledgeable and friendly service, with a special mention for China. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to return.

I love this restaurant. Really welcoming and great food and wine. Can recommend the Picpoul de Pinet, if you like a good white wine. Tonight the seared tuna and crevettes in wild garlic were fantastic and the potatoes are always great. Never had a bad meal here

Beautiful fresh seafood! Highly recommend the oysters, the deep fried were my favourite. Very kind attentive service. The menu changes daily but we had oyster, scallops with porchini, cornish langoustines, gurnard cevice and bream. All were very good. Plus lots of interesting cocktails

This cosy little dining spot is a diamond in all there is to negotiate in The Padstow food offer . Staff are positive welcoming and enthusiastic and looked after us attentively on a busy night . Food is freshly prepared and you can choose from a selection of nibbles small plates ( where you choose 2-3 per person ) or there are some mains . We started with a bottle of of delicious mucadet flinty dry mineral perfect for the seafood to follow . Anchovies in olive oil, gordal olives , and succulent freshly toasted sourdough served with whipped butter . Small plates all excellent but must mention Hake with Jerusalem artichoke and walnut butter and apple , this went perfectly with the little gem truffle oil and Parmesan little gem we had ordered as a side . Talking of sides the crispy spiced potatoes sounded innocent but were the most delicious thing we have tasted for some time , the cardomum spice mix and crisp bits wa wa woo . Seared tuna with chilli and dipping sauce Devine . Slipper Dover sole with nutty butter cooked to perfection. Scallops served in their shells with Thai butter on point . Mussels sweet succulent and super tasty broth . Coconut rice pudding with toasted pineapple and lime was a dreamy Thailand journey not to be missed . chocolate mousse with caramel popcorn was playful and delicious .

Really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and small plates. Service great. Food great. Wine list interesting. Small venue which is nice. Only slightest criticism of the food was the Thai sauce with the scallops overpowered the flavour of the scallops.

Super delicious cocktails at POTL. Every dish was absolutely fantastic. Highlight was the chilli margarita!

Was recommended POTL by a friend so had to try it, even if it wasn’t on our “list” before coming to Padstow. Needless to say we will be coming again. Great food Great service Lovely atmosphere Great wine selection

We were walk-ins on a Thursday evening and were greeted beautifully and found a table. We chose the small plates option and each one was different and delicious. The atmosphere was bubbly without being loud and the staff were funny and friendly. A lovely experience all round - a real treat.

After a rather unfortunate start to our evening where we turned up to Barnabys for our reservation to find all lights off and restaurant closed - POTL saved the night and gave us a stellar evening. Fantastic food, fantastic service. I think the stars aligned with the earlier mishap and we forgot about it having happened with the first delicious sip of Billecart Salmon champagne. All agreed the highlight was the orzetto sharing dish - so full of flavour and delicious prawns, mussels, monk fish etc. Special mention to the fried oysters which never disappoint. Can’t wait to come back

This is great restaurant, it’s very popular and need to book in advance. The food was delicious and fresh. The staff were friendly. It’s definitely a must try when in padstow. Although the food was outstanding the space was an issue for us . The small tables for couples are squeezed in and made the experience of dinning not so outstanding. When you pay £220 you want a good overall experience. I guess this is a personal preference and it is certainly not a dig at the quality of the food that we were served.

We go to Cornwall every New Year and ALWAYS have a meal at Prawn on the Lawn. Today's was the best yet! Exceptional food. The most warm welcome. Dog friendly. Delicious wine. Can't fault it. Already looking to visiting next New Year!

We visited this lovely little gem of a restaurant yesterday for my 60th birthday treat and what a treat it was. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the food was to die for. The small plates suited us as we like that way of eating. We had olives and anchovies to start then 6 small plates Tuna, scallops, cod, monkfish, pollock, hake all cooked beautifully with different sauces and accompanied with a dish of the crunchiest potatoes I have ever eaten. The drinks menu is extensive and the dry sherry and white wine complimented all the dishes beautifullly. All in all one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in

Six of us (3 adults and 3 kids) had a meal there on Saturday - absolutely fantastic food, and great service - even though we settled in a bit! Lovely place we couldn't recommend more!

Very cool little restaurant in the heart of Padstow. Relaxed atmosphere, fantastic food and brilliant service before and during our meal. We ate off the small plate taster menu and every dish was delicious. Recommend the Tuna, Gurnard Ceviche and Hake. We will definitely eat here again.

An absolutely spectacular evening, my brothers, their wives, my mother and me, for my mother’s 92nd birthday dinner. Greeted by Rob, a delightful man and waited on by he and China. They were an excellent addition to the evening. The food is out of this world. A wonderful and diverse choice, all seafood fresh from the ocean. I can not recommend this spot more, it is small and welcoming. Reservations in advance owing to the size.

We visited Prawn on the Lawn in Padstow over the summer. Firstly, the quality of the food is second-to-none. Everything is incredibly fresh, with an exciting menu that changes frequently. We ordered a few dishes on the occasion we visited: a whole miso brown-butter John Dory, monkfish with a North African marinade and pollock with pine nuts, feta & basil. The only downside was that the counter-tables were quite cramped, so we were often bumping elbows while eating, but this didn't detract from the lovely food. Local wine from Trevibban Mill was also top-notch. It's recommended to book in advance.

Insurance might be a good idea? We broke down on the way to the restaurant, gave as much notice as possible (around 2.5hrs) that we wouldn't make our weekend lunch booking. Had to email as no-one answered phone calls, eventually got a scant response referring us to the T&C section of the website. So now you have £70 of our money and we have nothing to show for it. Didn't reply when we asked about getting the food to take away instead if we were able to get there later. Is the food any good, I will never know but I do have a bitter taste in my mouth. Times are understandably hard for the service industries and no shows are a real problem, but sometimes people have genuine reasons for not being somewhere so the next time you get contacted by someone sitting in a lay by waiting for a recovery truck instead of eating lunch in your restaurant try and be a bit more accommodating.

We've been trying to get into PoL for ages, but we finally found a perfectly suited reservation, just in time for a special celebration 🎊. First thing to say, is that the PoL team are all amazing. They're all very very good a their jobs, and take pride in their craft. We appreciate your time and attention, without being overbearing or pushy. PoL is an intimate restaurant nestled in the heart of Padstow. The serve a seasonal menu which rotates with what is fresh, and what can be brought in by the fishermen. This isn't the type of place you should go with an idea of what you want to eat - this is the type of place you go to be inspired. While I could tell you what we had - there might not be much point. The menu will change with what is fresh. More important than a review of individual dishes is a review of technique, as technique should be consistent across all dishes. I can say that all of our fish was cooked to perfection. Flavours were bold where needed, and soft where appropriate (aka the flavour profiles were bomb). Each dish was consistently good. I enjoy the small plates methodology, as I enjoy trying a bit of everything. They do also have some table sharing plates if that's what you prefer. As you may be able to tell, we loved our experience. We look forward to our next visit, and the next menu we'll get to experience.

Visited for dinner midweek, v busy, an all fish menu, we ate small plates of a whole John Dory and fried buttermilk ling followed by a whole brill, presented simply, all v tasty, loads of food, great service. Another excellent meal, many thanks and we’ll be back

Found this a little overpriced given the size of the small plates. We were also sat very close to the table next to us (who commented on our food all the way through the dinner). Obviously not the restaurant’s fault.. The staff were really friendly and it is very cost but unfortunately I was hungry two hours after.

Love this restaurant. Dog friendly and just wonderful food. We’ve been a couple of times and always left it up to the staff to choose us know a selection of small plates and never been disappointed. Fantastic food, fantastic service and a great atmosphere. Be sure to book as it’s only small and they do get busy. See you soon prawn on the lawn!

Excellent seafood and the service was fine. You will be packed in here like sardines and it is like eating in a small warehouse..

Loved it. I’ll be honest, I’ve walked past a few times and been a bit hesitant given the fact it’s not ‘cheap’ nor a particularly spacious room. However, a friend kept insisting I try - so I did. Wow. The small plates blew me away. I could have eaten them repeatedly. Seared tuna with soy and mirin, ake in a pesto crust and pollock with sweetcorn tarka dhal were all outstanding and worth every penny. We also had some anchovies and raw oysters to begin and the anchovies were some of the best I’ve ever had. I ordered more oysters. - Nuff said. We shared a 600g John Dory in Thai sauce with some crushed roasted potatoes and by now I was getting full. Finished off with affogato with PX and a world class chocolate mousse. The service is excellent and the room and ambience is actually perfect. We were quite comfortable. It’s also very dog friendly! We will be back.

This place was awesome! I love that it was dog friendly and the vibe was so playful. The food was great, I liked the Bloody Mary with the oyster and the local beers were good. We loved the tuna.

A welcoming and intimate bistro style fish restaurant. The food was gorgeous, the team very friendly and the dog enjoyed the fuss he got! I can warmly recommend some anchovies and sourdough while you wait for the mains to be cooked. A glass of champagne went down nicely too ( am sure that is allowed at lunch when you are on holiday!). Great ambience, attentive and friendly staff and the seafood is to die for. We have been twice in separate visits to Padstow. If you like seafood perfectly cooked with a twist do not miss out. Will vist Padstow again to visit POTL.

We booked this restaurant as the tapas concept appeals as we like to taste all on offer. This is a must for all fish lovers. I would fly down there just for the deep fried local oysters. Scallops in a Thai sauce is a must. Don’t miss out on the bread with seaweed butter as well as the crispy potatoes. In fact go back again (as we did the next evening) and try the rest. Staff feel like old friends, just so friendly, We loved China and Rob. You always know you are in the best place when one of the Country’s top chefs is at the next table. Can’t wait to try the other restaurant in Islington. Book early and enjoy everything. Well done POTL

Paul Ainsworth and Rick Stein, stand aside this is the best place to eat in Padstow! Creative fish tapas and sharing plates, locally sourced with great flavour combinations. Staff knowledgable and attentive. Choice of fish options incredible and all highly recommend. Get a seat if you can and enjoy this place, the great food and atmosphere.

If you are a seafood and fish lover then you're in for a treat! Chilled atmosphere with staff who are both attentive and knowledgeable, without being being 'in your face'. The banter was great! The fried oysters were the best I've eaten ...and I've eaten a lot! Patron peppers so fresh! The monkfish was sublime, as were the boquerone, sardines, scallops, Dover sole and mackerel. Don't leave without adding some spicy spuds to your order ....they are so crispy and tasty! I am already looking forward to my next visit in December!!

Absolutely perfect. This was reccomended by a friend in London and it did not disappoint! The cocktails were delicious and the food even more notable. The monkfish 🤌 stunning! Also worth noting the tuna and the fried oysters. It’s also dog friendly!! They only allow a couple of dogs per service so ring ahead. Can’t wait to visit the other one in London!

The name is great and the food and service more than deliver. It’s a lovely little place run by great staff who were all excellent. We went for the tapas options all of which were equally delicious. We sat close to the open kitchen and my husband really enjoyed seeing the passion and hard work of the chef!

Popped in on the off chance of getting a few oysters to take away as we had no reservation and they were very busy. No facilities to take away but the staff had no issues with us having them served to us just outside the premises. Fresh delicious oysters went down a treat. Highly recommended for the welcoming atmosphere, friendly helpful staff and delicious fresh seafood.

What a great place. My girlfriend found POTL and we managed to get a table for 2 people and 2 dogs before 5pm on a Friday. The dishes are changed regularly so they will show you the boards of what is available. There are a number of tapas small plates as well as larger options. We had the seared tuna with mirin dip, scallops in Thai dressing, whole red mullet deep fried and cod. It was all amazing would definitely go back. And the service was great too. Very friendly.

Every Small plate is designed to captivate every taste your mouth could dream of, even ones that you didn’t know existed. From the scallops to mackerel everything hits the spot The main dishes of fishes are of course brilliant (dishes and fishes (; see what I did there) and the potatoes are literally god sent. Haven’t had the deserts yet but considering I’m writing the review inside the restaurant before finishing conveys this places greatness Atmosphere is very amazing. In fact my desert has now come so I will finish here with one last message. Rick Stein has been silent since i arrived 🤔

After visiting POTL last year when it was on the farm overlooking the estuary, I was disappointed that it was now in a tiny shop in the middle of Padstow. The staff had managed to accommodate my elderly mother at a small cramped table next...

Whats not to love about this spectacular space. Positioned perfectly in the harbour town of Padstow, Prawn on the Lawn (POTL) serves a uniquely fresh experience to an already well served area for great food. Servers are so welcoming and engaged in your experience, you'll feel part of the team, which given the small space, is a great help. My wife and I had several well mixed cocktails, and a stunning set of sharing plates. The Tuna, seared and served sashimi with a soy dressing was a favourite alongside scallops, served in the shell with a fragrant Thai sauce which I won't soon forget. Quick shout out to some of the finest potato side dishes ever.

Such a good, fresh, menu; terrific service, and great fun. How did the staff know we were returning customers, and remember our seating preference? All done with friendly professionalism. We will be back!
