After years of getting good chippy dinners, tonight was a massive disappointment. Fish were small and dried out with hard batter. The chips were OK but nothing like they are usually. We got 3 meals and they were all the same :( Don't know if I'd go back now.

Got a sausage supper it was Luke warm when it arrived and sausages were tiny won't be back

Really disappointed. Cheap grease proof paper used to stop the food sticking to the wrapping, and it just stuck to the greaseproof in stead. The entire batter came off both mine and partners food. Tried to salvage what was left only to find some of the fritters weren't even cooked properly, middles being closer to raw than cooked. Won't be coming back, considering the prices I would expect way better packaging and quality.

Delivery was lukewarm. Batter not crispy

I decided to order from there and when the food came over after an hour and 20 minutes which is shocking, they decided to put everything on its side which made everything slide which made a huge mess with sauce as it was packing food not playing Tetris. As well as i had ordered a can of monster and a can of rockstar yet got 2 zero sugar monsters. Terrible place, be better.

The driver was great but when he proceeded to leave he left my front gate open and my 2 nine month old pups almost escaped I do not epreceate it as I have had a long day at work and had to go chase them

Would be a decent chippie if the staff understood how a fridge worked, or could be bothered walking the length of themselves to use one. As it stands they pop cans of juice in the fridge for about four minutes, then put them on the shelf, in a warm chippy, where they are soon hot enough to fry an egg on. If you ask for one from the fridge, the staff will look you as if you've just demanded their daughter in marriage, before grudgingly trundling to the fridge and handing you a can that is probably even warmer than the one on the shelf. Then charge £1.30 for it. Seriously, just use your fridge. No one in Scotland wants room temperature In Bru.

Went there disappointed left there very satisfied. The food and the service were excellent. Staff were very helpful and polite. Portions were large and freshly cooked. Very clean.

Supported this local business for years but the prices are absolutely scandalous now. Dearest chippy in Europe.

Absolutely ridiculous. This place is a waste of time and money. Should be avoided big time. Food arrived late (an hour later than it should be). It was all cold and looked like it was chewed by a dog. Disgusting. Not to mention it's well overpriced when you take into account how much they serve and a quality of it. As soon as I opened it, it went straight to the bin as I wouldn't risk eating it. I had to place another order elsewhere.

Over 2 hours for delivery. Told numerous occasions food had left the shop. Wasnt even a big order. Disgusting service

No disrespect to the woman personally who served me but this is a warning for others: picking up my food with an UNGLOVED hand (the same hand that handled money) is very unhygienic and gross. I think they were shocked I mentioned anything tbh and she could only shrug initially. I requested a new portion and as they were only 3 there (you get 5 per portion), she said I could only get 3 despite paying for a portion. I said it wasn’t fair and ended up just leaving it after being told it’d take 10 minutes. I wanted to leave a review to warn others because I would really appreciate the heads up myself. Totally stunned and my partner was too as we’ve been here quite a few times in the past.

Would certainly not recommend this chippy, which despite in the past being good, came today lukewarm at best, and with the chips having this very hard consistency, and the fish not tasting fresh at all, or like haddock, it had this slight bin taste which was very off-putting. Upon contacting Valente's about these issues, and as we are long time customers, they just ignored it completely. Not good enough!

I know prices have increased though £5.50 for a single smoked sausage. I bought one from Asda £1.50 and the chip shop actually half one. Won’t be paying that again out of principle it’s actual greed not need.

Great place, very good food and the staff just amazing. We had a good chat and I'm hoping to be back one day. Highly recommend!!!

Best fish and chips in bathgate and very overlooked because it's in a schemey fruit machine arcade. If you're someone who frequents the dreadful Gerry's for your fish and chips then give your head a wobble and start going here instead.

Food is always fresh .. always get a jumbo haggis supper and my partner gets a steak pie.. the other night their we got a delivery and I always ask for salt and alot of sauce on my supper but when it was delivered there was nothing on it.. I phoned up and kindly they offered me another meal with salt and sauce which was great.. I also asked them to give me a bottle of their sauce which you can buy from them for just £3.. the 2nd delivery was here before my partner had even finished her meal.. will always get from here great service

Says 11.30 opening yet I went in at at 12.40 to a very ill mannered person the place looked as if it could do with a good clean anyway I’d avoid the place like the plague

I just got a delivery and first its was so quickly delivered and the fried pizza was so fresh and pizza was so soft also i asked for a cold bottle of juice and nornally when u ask for tht its not often to receive wat u ask but yip sure thing this delivery im rating a 100 outa 10 and im not joking gerrys its out the window for ne now sat 24 july 21

Best Fish and Chips in West Lothian

Don't order they alway forget stuff of orders and refuse to re deliver just had to go back down and got abuse of the staff and my 2 year old daughter had to wait a extra hour for her dinner 3rd time this had happened the staff need hearing aids and lessons on manors

Order came without juice so phoned to say the diver had forgotten to be told he will be phoned to bring it and it never came.

Waited 1 hour 45 mins for order to get to me! was only a fish supper, had to put in microwave to heat as was cold then when started eating the fish was full of bones, was worst fish supper ever had, had to call them to see where food was even tho was with driver still was another 25 mins to get to me ended up in the bin and I had a pot noodle great thanks

Order a take away through Scoffable, food arrived quickly, cut into my chicken and it was pink contacted valentes they said they would replace it I asked for pakora instead called back 45 mins later still hadn’t arrived, asked for a refund, they said I had to contact Scoffable (awaiting reply from Scoffable) staff on phone were quite rude, not the first time I’ve had a bad takeaway from there but it will definitely be the last time..

A place of great beauty, the food is excellent, the service is amazing and the staff are even better 👌

Sorry this is for the wee Valente carry out Chippy in George Place Bathgate. The food is usually tasty and fresh no problem there but I have to downgrade them because they are failing to keep customers safe. Even although I arrived fully masked and obeyed the 2 only into shop other customers didnt have a mask and were not asked to wear one as well as the fact that no one monitors how many are coming in so I found myself in the shop today with more than 1 other customer and more than 1 had no mask. It's a small shop you cant keep 6ft apart!!! Also and this is the biggie for me but the none of the staff had masks on whilst preparing and serving food. Come on!!! No wonder the coronavirus is spreading quickly in this area with people just ignoring government guidelines to keep people (customers) safe!!!!

Best local chips hop about no questions asked!!

Three hours to get a delivery. I thought I had ordered a breakfast i stay in Blackburn two and a half miles from shop . Not Blackburn in Lancashire never use the shop again.

Always amazing food and been going for years

The best chippy in Bathgate, maybe even West Lothian, certainly the best I’ve ever had. Lovely Italian family run the shop, never had any problems with orders or customer service in the 6-7 years that I’ve been a customer. Prices are great and you certainly don’t get small portions, you’ll be full and satisfied after your meal from Valente’s! 5 STAR establishment!!

Always hot, always freshly cooked, doing a great job with the takeaway round the corner staying open during the lockdown! 10/10 for tastiness.

Really friendly staff very welcoming the food is superior and fantastic I've tried lots of chippies around and this is definitely my favourite in West Lothian I've had the pleasure of eating most of the menu choices fish is tasty sausages and burgers marvelous and delicious the chips are awesome reasonable prices very clean and tidy the food is fantastico if you are passing through I truly recommend you choose here for a fantastic chip shop experience

Really disappointed with my order last night. How hard is it to serve hot food ? Piping hot steak pie served with chips ( warm at best ) obviously been lying for ages. I wouldn't entertain this place, the competition around is so much better.

ordered five meals off scoffable and the portions of chips on them was ridiculous barley even got half a portion for one person, don’t see why you say you’re open if you’re not gonna fulfil your portions.

Best fisj and chip in bathgate. For me at least. Never got bad food from them and there is something for kids and adults.

Best fish and chip shop in the srea

Went in to the chip shop to find the price of a single smoked sausage was £4.50 really...? You can buy a full smoked sausage at Tesco for £1.89and you are getting half a smoked sausage for £4.50. Take your full smoked sausage and microwave for 2 minutes. Exactly the same as half a smoked sausage from them.... an absolute joke and bare faced robbery. I know that they need to make a profit but 500 % is taking the piss.

The food is always good, but I’ve never seen such a miserable bunch of staff. As others have previously said, they almost give you a dirty look when you walk in. Very bizarre indeed as they let themselves down with their very poor customer service.

Day old chips & fish, soggy, without gram of salt, packed in something that reminded be old newspaper. Awful experience, one of the worst fish and chips in the area.

No the best chippy ever does the job tho, staff are meh, look as if ye annoy them every time you go in tbh.

I visited Bathgate fit work and decided to go along for something to eat before heading home after a long day. I must say, I wish I had just kept on driving. On entering the premises staff didn’t even say hello, they all seen me. The woman who served me basically just blurted out “ wait a minute” ! She was more interested in chatting to a delivery driver bout some order. Anyway I said what I wanted and waited, I asked for a can of irn bru and instead of getting one from the fridge ( which would make sense! ) what does she go and do ... bends all the way down to the shelves and gives me a warm can of irn bru. I said to her .. can I get one from the fridge please, the look she gave me was awful. I’ve never experienced the worst customer service ever. This was on Sunday 30th September at around 2010-2015. I will never return here, sorry guys but first impressions count and if you want to get repeat business you really have to up your game a bit! May I suggest sending your staff on a basic customer care course, it won’t cost much and can be carried out at your local college or in house training!!!!!!

Food is good but manners cost nothing, staff look at u as if ur in the wrong place, and the bird way the glasses, she must have been dragged up not brought up , civil, i don't think she's hear of the word , my advice go elsewhere 👊🏻

Went in tonight i said every time I come in here the price goes up 50p a guy behind me said the sauce was horrible aswell, the lady behind the counter rolled her eyes. The food isn’t as great as it used to be, I think because where it’s situated they think they can get away with putting prices through the roof, who wants to go to the chippy and pay £5.50 for a sausage supper, not me

Was lovely, batter on the burgers was a bit hard but didn’t affect food I enjoyed it.

After placing order via just eat.. An hour plus later 1/2 our order turned up We phoned shop and was told it was a mistake but it will be a while before we get the rest? No priority as this was there mistake I asked to speak to manager and he went mental over the phone saying I had no idea the pressure it is running a chip shop So we ended up driving back to shop with our 1/2 order for a refund.. Never use again..people beware the shop owner is a mad man Absolutely needs locking up

I wish I could give no stars. This place is rank rotten. Had a fish supper that was barely edible it tasted like it was days old. Instantly after eating it i started to feel sick. I've been up thru the night throwing up to the point when there is nothing left to bring up. Never been this ill in my life. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. Unless you want to feel like you've got the PLAGUE. Smelly tramps i hope the moany bastard woman who works the counters next jobby is a crocodile.

After having to pay an additional £2.50 for our delivery after our hadalready paid for it online, apparently the delivery was already attempted when I was standing in my kitchen watching for it. We received the wrong order as well putting onions on one of our plain cheese pizzas, that one went straight in the bin as I am allergic to onions.Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy, and I plan to take further action with them.Won't be back

Ordered delivery. After an hour and a half I drove down to be aggresively told my delivery had left. Then after waiting another hour at home it still hadn't arrived. Applied for a refund from the shop the next day which they declined. Won't be going back.

Best chippy by far! Will happily drive to this just to have the best hamburgers in town! Staff are not the friendliest but I’m there for the amazing food !! Average prices- no different to anywhere else !

My mate n me went in order fritter n crunch half pizza. Great to eat wipeout really good health n safely look clean yes their toilet rare clean.their share with cafe so food is great give them 4 stars if you n partner try go it worth it

Good quality take away shop. A big menu with plenty of Choice and at reasonable cost. Well worth a visit.

Feel sad writing this as I’ve eaten in this chippy for years, got a bad order phoned and was told to collect my money went in was told I had to go to the main chip chop as that’s wear the boss was, I spoke to boss who said quite flippantly I wasn’t in last night go back across which I did (thinking on way that’s quite rude) got back across guy refused to give me money and was quite intimidating towards me young girl intervened and says she would sort (she should be the manger she was lovely and very helpful) she took me back across spoke to the boss who never even looked at me but agreed to give me my money back but had to go back across to the other one. I got my money back went back across to tell them how upset I was about the way I had been treated not once did anyone apologise to me and they were being quite rude towards me, safe to say I’ll never be back here. I bet I don’t even get an apology.

Totally amazing Haddock and Chips and Haggis Fritters (and a Potato Fritter) - first time in Scotland at a Scottish chippie and fabulous place lots to choose from and it was the right amount of food, with the right amount of grease. Only downside - as a Londoner I wanted Mayonaise, but they didn't have any - but I didn't miss it in the end. Chips made a fabulous chip butty.

Have ordered previously with no problem. Tonight was a different story. Will not be back. When telephoning to complain the lady was so so rude. A simple apology would have been enough. But no apology. They have lost my business

This used to be the best chipshop in the area , however just got a white pudding and chips. Chips were cold and the batter on white pudding was like rubber To be honest I don't even think the pudding was fully cooked.

Asked for kids meal....never got the sweet or juice also pizza came folded in half unsure why but it was also very soggy and sausage supper had less than a handful of chips and also very salty won't return very disappointed

I ordered a small fish supper which was delivered in an hour which is pretty good time but it was cold and the chips were rotton, loads of bad bits on them too, the fish was OK but the batter was soggy and greasy rather than crispy, it wasnt bad though but overall, I wouldn't recommend and I will not be ordering again, £6.50 down the drain.

Haber estado en un puñado de veces desde que abrió esta nueva aventura a la vuelta de la esquina de la galería/café Whitburn Road. La primera impresión tengo que decir bastante bueno como todos los peces recién cocinados a la orden, que es como los dientes de las gallinas como rara en West Lothian. Sin duda un corte por encima de la vieja llevar a la vuelta de la esquina. También te dan una taza de té incluido en el precio además de pan, mantequilla y guisantes blandos si quieres. Gran relación calidad-precio. El último par de veces el bateador ha sido perfecto y el pescado no cocidas que pasa en muchos lugares. El único problema que tengo es con el real de pescado en sí - la calidad simplemente no hay comparación con los mejores lugares de Escocia como en el East Neuk ("rincón por ejemplo. Realmente me hubiese gustado algunas de las West Lothian chippies a y probar algunos de estos otros lugares para probar la diferencia, tal vez no les importa, o tal vez la intenciones no te importa? - De cualquier manera, esta es una razón por la que nunca hemos tenido una verdadera "fish and chips" en el condado. Si estos chicos podría conseguir grado premium 'a', la experiencia de pescar en casi espectacular en vez de un poco decepcionante.

I've tried other Chippies in Bathgate and always find Valente's to be the best. Consistent quality and decent size portions.

We bought two fish suppers from this take-away chip shop. The food was very well presented in boxes and the portion sizes were decent for the £6 each we paid. The chips and the fish with both tasty and my only slight criticism would be that it was a little too oily for my liking.

We have just received our order which took an hour to arrive, so disappointed to first of all see that my order was wrong, I ordered a smoked sausage supper with salt and vinegar, my supper came with lashings of sauce which I had not asked for! When looking at the receipt my order clearly states s/v meaning salt and vinegar! Secondly both suppers arrived cold, lukewarm in some parts cold in others! Disappointed in what usually is a great wee chippie!

Very Disappointed with the portion sizes. Yet again. Asked for £1 bag and counted 17 chips when I opened the bag at home. The counter assistant threw back some of the chips when she realised it was a small bag I was after. In addition my review on their Facebook page was removed. Valente has gone downhill. Disappointed.
