We love Costa. Probably our first choice for coffee. Unfortunately the service in this particular Costa branch is the worst. Staff ignored the guest and very rude. Act like they don’t care in service. Busy with chit chatting.

Went in today for coffee and a snack at 2.45pm what a very poor selection. Scone was dry and hard. Chicken kebab flat bread was clearly zapped in the microwave along with the meatball wrap for far to long . Side salad was a whole tomato with a bit lettuce and what seemed like a whole red onion . Wont be back. Doesnt even merit the one star.

My wife encouraged me to consider a simple soup and bread option for lunch here. She was told before I arrived that both soups were gluten free which I need as a coeliac to not become really quite ill. When I checked it turned out that only one was. One member of the young staff was sent to check the allergen booklet situated after the till. She hadn’t a clue what she was doing. Only one soup was listed on there. They offered gluten free bread but then told me sometimes it comes toasted. Fears of it being in contact with other wheat based food in the grill hit me but as I was keeping customers back with my queries I agreed to the bread. It came toasted. It’s ridiculous I know but I always do this with gluten free toast as I can’t be sure if it’s been contaminated in a grill or toaster, I tap the toast and wipe my fingers across it to dislodge any loose particles that it may have come into contact with. That extreme behaviour is simply a desperate measure to protect myself from being made ill by others’ lack of knowledge or carelessness. I wish I wasn’t a coeliac but I am. Not sure if it’s worth the risk for a bowl of soup but it’s nice to be able to do what others consider normal.

I dropped in for lunch today (19/05/19) & didn't see what I wanted on the menu. It seemed to be all hot food, soup etc. 2 behind the counter staff & the chef were there & I asked if they didn't have any salad type food available. Without missing a beat, the chef said he could make me up a boiled egg & ham salad if I liked. Perfect! :) I paid for it at the till & not long after I got to my seat, the chef delivered a lovely big fresh salad complete with a little dish of mayo & a french roll with a pat of butter. It wasn't expensive & it was made to order as it wasn't on the menu. Service like it used to be in the old days when the customer came first. Well done to Debenhams! All your staff were friendly & helpful. You could teach some of the other cafes a lesson. Much appreciated.

We had time to kill and a quick coffee and @ #cone seemed a good idea. Now I like coffee that means black, hot, milk on the side and fresh and that’s exactly how they serve it here as good as I’ve had in Livingston. Scone# are a bit hit and miss no matter where they are served and the one# her3 tasted great but were so crumbly it was a trial to eat them. The people here are helpful and service quick so it’s on our list for future visits.

We went Christmas Shopping today, and decided to give this café a try as we have never been in to visit before. We had a couple of Cappuccinos and Cranberry Scones which were quite reasonably priced. The scones were very tasty. A couple of things that I noticed were, There was a chap who was clearing the tables when the customers had finished their food. This was very helpful. Also is it policy for all the front of house staff to wear jeans, it just looked a bit odd.

Went in here for the first time ever as never been before. It was ok but for such an apparent high market shop the cafe doesn't match the standards of when you buy something in the store. Too self service, the cutlery napkins etc are too far away from the till point. If you like being served on a lot especially as no cafes are really that cheap anymore at the centre then don't bother go elsewhere such as muffin break or waterstones cafe if you like all the essentials to be given to you or close by to where you pay or both.

Something a famous gentleman said about I have started so I will finish but today I just couldn’t . Debenhams in the past when we have visited other shops have had a not bad cafe but I am so sorry to say that the quality of food has gone downhill ...I can only speak about the breakfast . Cheap it was but maybe charge more and produce better quality? Yes it states scrambled egg so hard luck if you want fried or poached with your breakfast. The service was swift give them their due but it’s not the worst breakfast we have had but it’s certainly close to it. The sausage was too strongly flavoured for a breakfast sausage and it was over cooked . The bacon had been cooked to death and was hard to cut and leather like . The scrambled egg well not my favourite option but was okay. The beans well another plus not too many of them but maybe just serve on the plate rather than in a small dish ? Mushrooms not sure how they were cooked but not inviting and the tomato was okay. My hubby said his toast was okay but mine was a little hard and then one little butter pack ran out of the wrapper and had to ask for more to cover the toast. Now those who follow my reviews know that I give fair reviews . Yes we could have complained and addressed it at the time but to fair , we didn’t think anyone would be that bothered. The saying “ what’s cheap doesn’t work and what works isn’t always cheap” Cheap can work if made with love and this breakfast certainly wasn’t. Glad we didn’t pay more. Please Debenhams help restore faith . We were in shopping and needed to eat.

We always seemed to hit this Cafe when it was really busy and consequently service was slow. It was less so on this visit and we ordered toasties and scones, tea and coffe for lunch. Service was quick and the food was really nice Mrs J said it was the best scone she had had for a long time. Prices are reasonable too albeit some may find the selection limited we thought it was good for an in store cafe. It is back on our list.

We regularly used to visit our local restaurant but not so often as the free coffee for Debenhams card holders ended. We go elsewhere as the coffee is better anyway. Cakes and snacks are overpriced too.

Friendly staff, nice comfy seats, mid week so quiet and got a bucket seat by the window to chill while watching people to and fro below. Tasty hot chocolate and freshly made fruit scone, and just seemed to be a better atmosphere than some of the other cafe's within large shops roundabout, it was a first time but will be returning

I use to love going for lunch here but since they don't have the salad baguette bar which was amazing my husband and I loved sitting at the window eating and watching the shoppers as we ate by the time we bought our drinks baguettes and cakes it was a bit pricey we didn't mind as everything was nice and fresh however there isn't the same options and there is a very limited salad bar now so we don't go anymore which is a shame as I said we did enjoy being there

Im a big fan of this store as it adds a 'big city' feel to Livingston centre . The cafe is perfectly positioned on the first floor with views right along the centre so its a great place to sit with a coffee. Unfortunately this is where the good things end. The coffee is very poor and in no way compares to the blends served in Costa , Nero or Muffin Break. So in a sense the central reason for the visit is rendered pointless. The service is ok but again rather distant and unfriendly. I love the cafes location but doubt ill return

Probably slightly more up-market than the average store cafe, this one at Debenhams offers a tasty selection of snacks but no hot meals. All sandwiches etc are prepared to order by the serving staff and when they are busy this can lead to very slow service; your coffee will be cold by the time your snack arrives. This is the one area in which they need to improve - probably by hiring more staff and having people dedicated to food preparation.Overall, would have rated a four for food but down to a three because of service.

Not impressed. Order was accepted for delivery at 8.10 but arrived at 9.30! Informed by chippie they were very busy but the lady was on her break when my order went through or it wouldn't have been accepted! This actually isn't my problem and food was lukewarm when delivered! Not sure I'll order again!
