Good food. Extortionate prices. Will go again and would recommend but definitely a once in a while due to the price. After spending quite a lot we were still hungry when leaving. The croque monsieur was excellent. The ultimate brownie looked stunning... It's probably the worst brownie I've eaten. Gritty for some reason.

Best coffee two Australians have had in the British Isles! This place is so cute and aesthetic in the inside and the tapas style menu means you get to try multiple dishes without having to pick just one! We tried the smashed avo, croque monsieur, egg hollandaise style dish and the almond croissant! All was delicious. Also highly rate their sourdough toast.

Staff are welcoming and polite. We tried the brunch menu which was really nice, but if you are more than peckish, go for 3 dishes each minimum. I would definitely go again and its one of the better brunch places in Glasgow. The delay between drinks and food was a little longer than I would like and the automatically applied optional 10% service charge is out of the norm.

I had a great time at this café! The food was amazing, both in presentation and taste. I was ready to give it a good review, but when checking my photos to upload, I noticed a 10% tip had been added to my bill without asking. I found this uncomfortable, as tipping is usually a personal choice based on the service. Automatically including it felt impolite, and even if someone notices it, they might not feel comfortable asking to remove it. Special thanks to the friendly staff who served—they were great!

I've been once and can't bring myself to try again. Had a cake that was way too sweet and couldn't finish it. Tea was ok. Probably fine if you just want photos for Insta or Tiktok. Also an inconsiderate business with their wall of planters getting in everyone's way. I emailed and was fobbed off saying they'd pass the message onto the team so they obviously don't care.

We enjoyed a delightful lunch here in this beautifully decorated little dine in. We had the tapas style breakfast foods. We had poached eggs, apple smoked bacon, hash brown, salmon, ice gem salad and a round of sourdough toast. The flavors were really well done. Each generous course complimented the other creating a symphony of great tasting food. Ingredients tasted fresh, punchy and full. An Ayrshire couple that don't really leave our small town enjoyed it enough that we'd happily return. Staff were excellent with recommendations and made us feel very welcome.

I don't know if I can honestly look at anything sweet ever again after the missus and I had a Parisian hot chocolate each (protip: share one) and a croissant. Croissants were delicious (I had almond, YUM), and the hot chocolate to-die-for! Probably could have had the croissants warmed up, although this is likely down to us not actually asking for that. Would be back again as the rest of the pastries look amazing! Staff were so friendly and efficient too. To the other reviewer who complained about not getting a table after calling to say they were running just 5 minutes' late - you rocked up 20 minutes' late, what do you expect?

Popped in for a snack purely due to proximity and what looked like nice croissants I had spied in the window. Had an almond croissant and a hot chocolate. Croissant was dense and heavy. Most of it was almond paste, which accounted for the weight, it was v. greasy and any layering of the pastry that had maybe existed, had likely been crushed because there was nothing to be seen. Hot chocolate was okay, although v. small and overly sweet. On a happier note, the two stars given are for the nice £9.50 pastrami sandwich had by my partner. Coffee was fine apparently. Very Instagrammable interior (if that's your thing) and staff were nice but wouldn't recommend if you have a sweet tooth and are in any way discerning.

I went Valaria today and was disappointed with the overall experience. The staff were very friendly on arrival and we got our food and drinks ordered quickly. The quality of the food was really good everything we had tasted amazing. However by the time we had finished eating and our plates had been cleared we had been there just less than hour and was informed that we only had 18 minutes left at the table and they would need it back. I had booked and no where on the booking did it say we would only have an hour and 15 minutes at the table. 5 minutes later we were then informed that they would actually need our table now and we would have to pay. Two of us hadn’t even finished our drinks and we were getting rushed away. I understand that if we were a walk in that they might need us to be quick but I booked this table and think 1 hour and 5 minutes is an unacceptable amount of time to tell someone they had leave. I am really disappointed in the whole experience as I was very much looking forward to coming and like I said the food was exceptional but I feel the whole experience was ruined.

The place was quite loud with music itself only. Decided to have the iced tea and blueberry matcha and it was okay but a bit overpriced for their “specialty drinks” given the amount also. Had their raspberry and lemon macaroons which the inside(lemon curd and raspberry jam/conserve and fresh raspberry) was lovely but the macaron itself was stale and definitely was not fresh. We shared one. All came to 16ish pounds so overall would say it was not worth it. We also sat in the back so had bad service and our experience of people being served first of whom had walked in after us definitely did not top it well.

I gave now been to Valaria x4 times in last few months. Food is pricey but delicious and high quality. Different with tapas style plates. Need to improve customer service..all 4 occasions very slow service..other tables served before me even though arrived afterwards. Feel like you are hindrance to staff. With the price of the menu plus paying for parking it adds to a high cost trip so I would expect exceptional customer service. I've been here several times when it was the patisserie and always loved it. I went this weekend for the brunch and was disappointed. Changing it up to a brunch spot is a good idea in theory, but sadly, it is not well executed. Tapas style simply doesn't work with the layout; the tables are too small to cope with the myriad of small plates, and the selection of plates on offer is poor and didn't wow in terms of flavour. I had great plans for buying cakes and macarons to take home, but the cake selection, which is arguably what made Valaria popular to start with, has been cut down to almost nothing. So, a disappointing brunch experience, and I didn't bother buying anything to take away. Service staff were lovely but were too busy to be procide top notch service. Seemed to be a lot of staff behind the counter not doing much whilst a select few were run ragged on the floor. This made for longer waiting times, a cluttered table, and forgetting items. Plus: Parisian hot chocolate was delicious. Decor is beautiful. The staff doing table service were working very hard. I'd return if it went back to being a patisserie, but I won't be returning for brunch.

The most awful rude service we’ve encountered. Ignored whilst standing waiting for a table at lunchtime. We weren’t sure if we were to just sit and asked the waitress who was standing beside us but not acknowledging we were there, if we were just to grab a table? She said no, she would take us to a table…and then walked away. We stood for another few minutes and she came back, walked past and served someone else. The manager/owner then walked past and asked if he could help us. I said yes, we looking for a table and thought we were being attended to. He said “well she’s a bit busy right now”…we walked out. How places like this, such bad service can survive is beyond me. So rude, and if that’s the attitude of the manager or owner, than that feeds down to staff. Never got to sample the food, but with service that bad, we’ll never go near the place again anyway

What a weird experience! The place looks cute from the outside, once you step in you can see how cheaply and fast was made, that aside it's quite dirty, the floor would benefit from being actually cleaned once in a while. The playlist was absolutely disorienting, would be more fitting for a kid birthday party. I can't...Mambo N5 in a vintage kinda live love laugh place? Dear me.. oh well! The drink was ok, made with no interest but not the worst I had! The staff tho, I think it's their first job in front facing roles, or at all :/. They looked startled by the idea of talking to someone. Although I did leave giggling to the absurdity of the space which it kinda works in how bad it is? It felt as though I was transported to a French patisserie. The ambience is lively, the interior decor is beautiful and “Instagrammable”. We went for brunch and they recommend 3 plates for individual or 5 for sharing between 2 individuals. We ordered 2 French Hot chocolate. They gave us a huge pot of hot chocolate which we struggled to finish even half of as we didn’t realise how filling it would be and we had brunch ordered as well. The pistachio croissant that came along with hot chocolate was massive and extremely satiating, not to mention - delicious and flaky - very authentic! The brunch choices were eclectic and equally delicious. The portions were small so they were perfect for us as we had ordered 5 plates to share. Overall it was a pleasant experience. We only wanted to buy a few macarons. There was 3 stacks in front of us with about 20 odd macarons on each! To make things worse an American couple who were behind us walked out munching on a croissant🙄 I asked them if they bought that from Valaria and they said yes, but were told they weren’t serving any hot drinks, I explained what they said to us and why we were so annoyed. Our son was with us and he was excited to try a massive macaron. We won’t ever be back. Very disappointing. Oily heavy croissants. Extremely pricey for what you are getting. Cold coffee, late served is small cups, and only in one size ( yes we asked for large, but then small cup was given) £5 plates from the menu are shockingly overpriced for what’s on them. Literally spoon of white yoghurt, with spoon of lemon curd and a sawdust ( called granola)….Nice decor, and that’s about it. We definitely gonna try next door to them, as after spending quite a bit in there, we were all still hungry! Another thing, don’t bother posting on their Facebook, they delete any negative feedback. Came here for a quick coffee and pastry inbetween shopping for the first time as had seen the videos on tiktok/online etc and the place looks beautiful. Oh how we were disappointed. Got placed at a table crammed at the back next to 3 other tables and could barely move. Took 10 minutes for a waitress to come get our order just for a coffee even though the place wasnt busy. We then received our pastrys 10 minutes later, still no coffees. The croissant was beautifull, however we also ordered a millionaire shortcake which you would need to carry a chainsaw around to eat it. Flavour was lovely by my goodness it was absolutely solid and an unpleasant experience to tackle eating. Still no coffees (a black americano and mocha). 25 minutes later the coffee’s appeared. Americano full of coffee grinds, very gritty to taste. The mocha was a hot chocolate. Could not taste the coffee at all and was sickly sweet. Couldnt finish either. After all this we were told we couldnt pay cash, no sign anywhere outside or on the door to do so. Happy to pay by card but a warning would have been nice before hand. Bill came to around £17 which was very overpriced for two coffees, two cakes and terrible service. Not worth the hype unfortunately. Will not be back.

This place is buzzing and the staff are nice but it is chaotic. There seems to be no organisation where staff are assigned certain tables. No prices for cakes etc on the menu as far as we could see and avoid the soup, nice but tiny portion and overpriced. What is good value are the small plates, tasty and well presented but due to lack of organisation of staff sat on counter for too long so were tepid. With a bit of organisation it could be really good here and management should review the menu (print tiny so not very accessible) so soup was cheaper and cake prices included.

Visited on a sunny Saturday and all I can say is thank goodness we booked a table. The sign on the door says “wait to be seated” but upon arrival there was no one to seat us. The queue for takeaway and sitting in all merged into one and the main entrance was blocked. Our first impression was that the place seemed a bit chaotic. We eventually managed to flag down a member of staff (there were two front of house on an incredibly busy Saturday) and were seated. Staff took a while to come back to the table to take any kind of order, we waited close to ten minutes for this. We ordered tea for two which at one point they clearly forgot about as we had to ask both members of front of house staff where it was and what was happening as we waited a very long time for it considering it was a simple tea for two. The cakes were lovely and there was a nice selection on offer, however I do feel £7.50 for a takeaway strawberry tart is incredibly steep. The whole experience was very disappointing. The whole atmosphere was incredibly frantic, they were clearly short staffed and the two they did have out on the floor were over worked and out of their depth. The place was incredibly noisy and the tables are far too close together. We were sat at a table behind the glass partition and parallel to the chairs and tables along the back wall. At one point the girl at the table next to me with her back to me, had her long hair almost touching my table and food. Most unpleasant. Overall, it was an expensive and underwhelming afternoon out. The service does not match the prices at all.

Booked the brunch option online after seeing amazing cakes and pastries on Facebook pages. The premises are cute, but we had timing issues with our food and hot drinks (not to mention not been given cutlery when food did come). Our food was good , however, my French toast looked nothing like photo which had abundant filling mine barely had a scraping and was bone dry. Had to go to counter twice and our waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed/frazzled on a Saturday lunchtime shift. There was also extremely limited choice left for pastries/cakes after, as the majority of glass domes were empty at 1pm and they had no replacements which is bad for a cafe having no back ups to refill!!! So ended up with last vanilla macaron which weirdly tasted of nothing. My friends chocolate cookie was delicious so just my poor choice.

I had very high expectations for this place, but I got disappointed. The environment and décor are very good. The vanilla tart and the focaccia were also excellent. Disappointed by the pistachio tart (almond rather than pistachio) and very disappointed by the "Parisienne" hot chocolate: it was so sweet that is was barely drinkable. The service was also poor: we waited literally 45 minutes for the chocolate (other tables got served, so our order was forgotten); we were told there was no croissant available with the chocolate, but then after the 45 minute wait, the croissant came; we had to ask multiple times to get cutlery to eat. All staff were very nice and seemed to work very hard, so either the place is understaffed or disorganised. By 4:30 0r 5pm, most of the sweets were sold out. Given the high expectations I had from social media and walking in front of it, I was disappointed.

For some people, coffee is coffee wherever you go and should be the same price everywhere. Not so. Coffee ranges from disgusting to divine and if you want the latter, you need to pay more for it. The same goes for food generally. At Valaria, they are all about quality. Their cappucino is the best I have had anywhere, ditto their croissants and their pastry-making is a work of art. The menu is imaginative, the staff very friendly, and the atmosphere and decor cosy and refined. What's not to like?

First time and loved it. Great coffee, great staff who showed their appreciation of our visit and best of all the fit-out of the cafe.

Not normally one to post a review in a negative manner however felt it appropriate following our visit today, had a table booked this afternoon for 2 people and walked in to be told our table would be just a minute, the host (seemingly a manager) gestured towards a table in the back of the venue and said just this one there, did not take us to our table or specify exactly which one she was referring to which would have been helpful given that the tables are all comfortably close together. The table we were gestured towards only had a single seat at it, yet no one seemed to question this. We instead opted for the seat next to it which was a table for 2 as requested. Although mildly irritating to not be shown to our table, our next issue was no one came over to our table to service us nor did anyone inform us if we had to order at the till or not. We received no service from the staff and sat there confused about it for a good 15 minutes. The menus were unhelpful and were not reflective of what offerings were available (which is fine) however when you have already received no service it is a bit of a hindrance to your experience. Having takeaway customers ordering from the same place as those taking the time to sit in your venue is very messy and I could tell patrons around us were confused by this set up as well. We ordered 2 coffees and 2 cakes. I would like to note there was no way of knowing the cost of the cakes as this is not listed on any of the menus or on the counter. I’m not even entirely sure if this is legal to not display prices and expect customers to pay after receiving the product. Anyway, I digress, the coffees were probably among the worst I have had around Glasgow. I am by no means a coffee connoisseur however the coffee was very bland and watery and definitely not worth it. The cakes were stodgy and unappealing but tasted fine. We still received absolutely no service from any of those front of house, no one asked if we needed anything or if everything was alright etc. (this review is not directed at them as I have worked hospitality and know they are likely over worked and underpaid, however these are operational issues in my opinion) and customer service training should be provided for staff as a courtesy to your customers. We eventually got up to pay and our total was a whopping NINETEEN pounds for 2 bland coffees and 2 cakes. Was told they do not take cash payments which is ironic whilst having a tip jar at the till. Save your money, there are more nicer more affordable venues in Glasgow. To be charging such a high price point I would be expecting top tier products and services and this place is not that, maybe if you cared more about the actual paying customer experience rather than looking “instagrammable” you may find yourself with less reviews to this effect, disappointed, out of pocket and will not be back. Sadly worst dining experience I’ve had, who knew going for coffee and cake could be so troublesome.

I had very high expectations for this place given Instagram posts, but was sadly disappointed. The environment and decor are very nice, but somewhat unclean and chairs are super uncomfortable and not size inclusive. The vanilla tart, croissant and the focaccia were excellent, however I was extremely disappointed by the pistachio tart which tasted like fake pistachio flavour and more of almond rather than pistachio, for 8£ I would expect real pistachio flavour. Futhermore I was very disappointed by the "Parisienne" hot chocolate, while the presentation was great, it was sickly sweet and tasted of poor quality chocolate, and not really drinkable, extremely unimpressed for a 10£ drink! It's really not hard to make tasty thick hot chocolate with good quality cocoa power and a bit of starch... Additionally, the service was also poor: we waited literally 45 minutes for the chocolate (other tables got served before us even though they arrived 1h after us, so our order was forgotten); we were told there was no croissant available with the chocolate, but then after the 45 minute wait, the croissant came; we had to ask multiple times to get cutlery to eat or wave to get drinks. All staff were super lovely and seemed to work very hard, so management needs to look at resourcing and training for the team, I was also extremly worried with staff being so busy and not being able to take breaks, do better to look after your staff! By 4:30, most of the sweets were sold out despite the place being open until 6. Also the cutlery and glasses were super dirty. Overall rather disappointed.

Previously gave a 5 star review which i have deleted to write this. I received a £25 gift voucher after I left the premises due to hygiene concerns. First, the drinking glass had lipstick on from a previous customer, and I let that slide. Then, I saw one of the members of staff use a tablet, and touch the pastries he was serving without washing his hands, using gloves or tongs. I returned after receiving the voucher, hoping for improvement. - The staff are impatient and inexperienced - I ordered the mocha hoping it would improve the coffee, but it was too burnt and bitter to finish. - Many of the pastries looked overcooked. - The pastries I ordered were way sweeter than they used to be and way too sickly. - It's hard to order as the printed menus don't update with the selection, and the staff seem to frown upon browsing the selection at the counter. - The place looks dirty: the upholstery is stained and because they allow dogs, someone allergic has a chance of sitting in proximity to one. I left with unfinished food and coffee, regretting using the voucher. You couldn't pay me to go back! They would be better off closing the cafe and opening a 'to-go' window.

This only gets a two star review out of courtesy to the staff who I think were trying their best. But basically I experienced all the bad things others have said recently. Too cramped, took too long to get acknowledgement from staff, overpriced, food got chased up and when it came it was wrong, they apologised and offered to fix. We politely declined and left. Inexplicably large numbers of people trying to get a table but if the staff aren’t given better resource and support, this business isn’t going to last. Pity as it’s very pretty inside.

My husband and I popped in after the lunch time rush so there were tables free. The young staff member had to ask her manager if there were any free tables before we were seated. We weren't given any menus re the cakes so had to go to see what was available at the counter/display cases. We ordered our flat white x1 and a breakfast tea x1 and a blueberry tart and a raspberry frangipane tart. My husband's blueberry tart was a pastry case with creme anglaise topped with berries and he said it was lovely. The coffee he had was only lukewarm and he swallowed it in 2 gulps. My breakfast tea on the other hand was served in a nice big pot (reasonably priced at £2.75p). The raspberry frangipane tart was served in a pastry case which was very soggy from the centre, and it was extremely sweet with occasional bursts of tart raspberry but resembled a puddle to be honest. There were no prices on any of the cakes so when I went to the till at the counter it was a bit of a shock to be asked for £21.25 for 2 cakes/drinks. I'm afraid that this will be our only visit as it's grossly overpriced. Nice decor, pleasant staff but too expensive to visit twice.

Food was absurdly overpriced & overrated. My friends & I arrived with a booking but were told to stand to the side for an extra 15 minutes, even though our table was completely empty (& clean) since we had arrived. It took them near 30 minutes to bring us our hot chocolate & then mentioned that they did not have any pain au chocolats left. Mind you, this was at noon. At first, they did not bring us cups so we had to sit there for an extra few minutes. The croissants were stale & the whip cream was simply store-bought & disgusting. We had asked for tap water which we never got. We also could not get the attention of the server to pay our bill. They only came over once they noticed us standing up & putting our jackets on.

Awful service. Waited in queue in the rain for 5 mins. All the tables were empty but no one was being seated. Asked for 2 plain croissants to take away and was told they weren’t doing take away ‘right now’. If I wanted a croissant I would need to sit in.

I live nearby and had been meaning to visit for a long time. I had reasonable expectations of the quality as its run by six by nico. Unfortunately its all style over substance, there are too many tables packed in and it feels very cramped having to really squeeze past people when full. I had a pot of tea and no matter which way I tried to pour it I lost about a quarter of it all over the table. Could potentially scald someone. The gold coloured cutlery isn't holding up to being repeatedly put in a dishwasher and the coating is coming off. The pistachio empire biscuit was okay but a bit too crumbly and has the wrong type of icing for an empire. Quite expensive. Disappointed on the whole and probably won't return.

It’s a lovely place with kind staff but way too overpriced. I took away one cookie and one tart and it cost £13.50 in total. Bakery is tasty (too sweet for me tho) but still not really worth that money.

Bought 6 cakes and 2 filled croissants. The croissants were nice but not great. However the cakes; 2 x pistachio tarts, very rich and very soft pastry 2 x praline tarts, same as above 2 x caramel shortbread, no idea what these were but Shortbread is not a description I would use. Both cakes were doughy and tasteless, caramel was like eating an old school rubber. Not a nice but very expensive experience. Obviously I won't be back. Extremely disappointed.

We went in for a quick takeaway that took us 30 mins to get. We ordered 2 cakes and a hot chocolate. The two cakes were okay, nothing special. The hot chocolate was undrinkable, I have attached a picture showing the separated, barely chocolatey, drink. We waited 10 mins to get served and then a further 20 mins to get our order, where we just had to stand like lemons in the restaurant. Would not recommend. If you want a hot chocolate and a cake, you are better off just going to Greggs down the road.

Gorgeous looking place but it’s not as good as when it first opened. Ordered the Hong Kong French toast which came with orange on top that was not listed on the menu and I’m allergic, luckily smelt it before eating. It was remade for me but no-one really acknowledged it being an issue. The size for the price is a bit ridiculous and it tasted like a bit of Scottish pride bread with some melted peanut butter. I don’t think I’ll be back for a while.

Okay so me and my friends we went there for brunch. I got a hot latte and firstly I asked for a pain au chocolat and then the lady returned and said they don’t have any left and I said I wanted almond croissant so after a while she came back again and said they don’t have any left so I asked for a plain croissant but they gave me a pistachio one. So after waiting for about 15 mins they gave me the pistachio croissant. I wasn’t a huge of it either. We got our drinks before the croissants and by the time they brought the croissants the drinks had gone cold. My friend ordered a hot chocolate and it was just watery and didn’t have the taste of a hot chocolate either. We expected it to be so much better since we were paying so much money. The only good thing from this whole experience was we got cute photos but then I think there are places where you can take cute photos and enjoy your brunch too.

LThis place was the definition of underwhelming. The macaroni tasted like that cheap, tinned crap. Vom. I’m pretty sure I’d eat any kind of pizza. Even bad pizza has it’s time and place (usually on the way home from a night out), but this wouldn’t even fit that scenario. Slightly more edible than the macaroni, but still pretty dire. It’s a no from me.
