Food lovely and don’t mind paying the prices but the staff let you down, ordered soup and flat croissant with poached egg both came at same time by the time I finished soup egg cold. We then asked for cakes and another coffee came with coffee but did not clear table. Also have a look at your baby seat harness not secure and girl said she didn’t know how they worked ☹️

Went to take away a pastry, but it was not just pricy but also the staff wasn’t friendly - they were showing micro discrimination in front of me. I feel unpleasant about the experience when I think back, so I decide to leave a review here.

I don’t visit cafes as often as I should, considering what I would do for a sweet treat; this French café in the west end of Glasgow reminded me of that. Valaria is gorgeous and intimate, perfect for couples or chats with the girls! The music choice really surprised me as it was more modern, but it still perfectly suited the quaint café. We were greeted and seated quickly despite being walk-ins and the waitresses were very attentive. They made sure to keep an eye on everyone in the event that they needed something. I found them all extremely kind and helpful. I ordered some fresh orange juice to drink and their focaccia BLT, which was enchanting. It tasted fresh and the waitresses even warmed it up for me. Despite thinking I would still want a nibble after the sandwich, it was surprisingly filling, and I felt amazing afterwards! My friend ordered a flat croissant with smashed avocado and poached egg, which was equally as nice as my meal, if not more so (I stole a bite). Of course, there is always room for dessert. We ordered two of their special Valaria cakes, the cherry and chocolate and the blueberry and lemon cake slices. This is what life is about; I could’ve eaten ten of both portions if given the opportunity. The bathrooms were also very lovely; it was one bathroom for all genders with an old-fashioned design and I was stunned. It was very clean, and the mirrors were perfect for selfies! I would definitely recommend this little café to everyone; its perfect for a quiet brunch and is only a short walk from Hillhead subway station.

This is a lovely place to have brunch, decor is beautiful. Staff were polite and welcoming, food was delicious and well presented, but a bit pricey as are the pastries. Paid the bill at the counter and left a 10% tip, now only to find out on reading reviews that a service charge is added, I never noticed this, so feel robbed as they took both.

Good food and service… but I think they must need to pay their staff better? As someone who does always tip, I was pretty unimpressed that they took it upon themselves to automatically add a 10% service charge to my bill, and then informed me that I would have to request they remove it if I didn’t want to pay it…? That’s really impolite. While I was happy to pay on principle for the service, I think it’s a (rude) hidden charge that’s being passed to customers and perhaps they should just pay their own staff better! The price is already quite high - paid £12 for once slice of French toast…? Won’t be back.

¡No volveré!

Food is incredibly mediocre and overpriced. These guys are constantly engaging influencers with invites or paid-ads in order to drive revenue. They also have shady business practices. They add 10% to every sit-in order regardless of party size. When you are receiving a coffee and a cake how ridiculous is that? There are restaurants that don’t engage in such practices but this is simply a bakery. AVOID

Unfortunately this was very disappointing. First of all, we came on a day they suddenly removed the small plates menu and it was replaced with generic cafe type dishes. Asked for our sandwiches to be warm, they weren’t. Took 25 mins for a soup and a cold sandwich. Asked for water and it just never came. Then they overcharged by £35 ( total bill £59 for two soups and sandwiches ! ) and if I hadn’t been there to notice my elderly mother in law would have paid that accidental bill. All in all, such a disappointing experience and will not be back.

Lack of hygiene. The food is touched with hands. By those who work in the kitchen and at the cash register. The food is not covered, it is all exposed!!! You have to wait hours to be served. Apparently a nice place. But the important things are neglected. Especially the bathroom. Costs are also excessive. I was ready to give it a good review, but when checking my photos to upload, I noticed a 10% tip had been added to my bill without asking. Popped in for a snack purely due to proximity and what looked like nice croissants I had spied in the window. Had an almond croissant and a hot chocolate. Croissant was dense and heavy. Most of it was almond paste, which accounted for the weight, it was v. greasy and any layering of the pastry that had maybe existed, had likely been crushed because there was nothing to be seen. Hot chocolate was okay, although v. small and overly sweet. On a happier note, the two stars given are for the nice £9.50 pastrami sandwich had by my partner. Coffee was fine apparently. Very Instagrammable interior (if that's your thing) and staff were nice but wouldn't recommend if you have a sweet tooth and are in any way discerning.

I went Valaria today and was disappointed with the overall experience. The staff were very friendly on arrival and we got our food and drinks ordered quickly. The quality of the food was really good everything we had tasted amazing. However by the time we had finished eating and our plates had been cleared we had been there just less than hour and was informed that we only had 18 minutes left at the table and they would need it back. I had booked and no where on the booking did it say we would only have an hour and 15 minutes at the table. 5 minutes later we were then informed that they would actually need our table now and we would have to pay. Two of us hadn’t even finished our drinks and we were getting rushed away. I understand that if we were a walk in that they might need us to be quick but I booked this table and think 1 hour and 5 minutes is an unacceptable amount of time to tell someone they had leave. I am really disappointed in the whole experience as I was very much looking forward to coming and like I said the food was exceptional but I feel the whole experience was ruined.

The place was quite loud with music itself only. Decided to have the iced tea and blueberry matcha and it was okay but a bit overpriced for their “specialty drinks” given the amount also. Had their raspberry and lemon macaroons which the inside(lemon curd and raspberry jam/conserve and fresh raspberry) was lovely but the macaron itself was stale and definitely was not fresh. We shared one. All came to 16ish pounds so overall would say it was not worth it. We also sat in the back so had bad service and our experience of people being served first of whom had walked in after us definitely did not top it well.

I've been here several times when it was the patisserie and always loved it. I went this weekend for the brunch and was disappointed. Changing it up to a brunch spot is a good idea in theory, but sadly, it is not well executed. Tapas style simply doesn't work with the layout; the tables are too small to cope with the myriad of small plates, and the selection of plates on offer is poor and didn't wow in terms of flavour. I had great plans for buying cakes and macarons to take home, but the cake selection, which is arguably what made Valaria popular to start with, has been cut down to almost nothing. So, a disappointing brunch experience, and I didn't bother buying anything to take away. Service staff were lovely but were too busy to be procide top notch service. Seemed to be a lot of staff behind the counter not doing much whilst a select few were run ragged on the floor. This made for longer waiting times, a cluttered table, and forgetting items. Plus: Parisian hot chocolate was delicious. Decor is beautiful. The staff doing table service were working very hard. I'd return if it went back to being a patisserie, but I won't be returning for brunch.

The most awful rude service we’ve encountered. Ignored whilst standing waiting for a table at lunchtime. We weren’t sure if we were to just sit and asked the waitress who was standing beside us but not acknowledging we were there, if we were just to grab a table? She said no, she would take us to a table…and then walked away. We stood for another few minutes and she came back, walked past and served someone else. The manager/owner then walked past and asked if he could help us. I said yes, we looking for a table and thought we were being attended to. He said “well she’s a bit busy right now”…we walked out. How places like this, such bad service can survive is beyond me. So rude, and if that’s the attitude of the manager or owner, than that feeds down to staff. Never got to sample the food, but with service that bad, we’ll never go near the place again anyway

What a weird experience! The place looks cute from the outside, once you step in you can see how cheaply and fast was made, that aside it's quite dirty, the floor would benefit from being actually cleaned once in a while. The playlist was absolutely disorienting, would be more fitting for a kid birthday party. I can't...Mambo N5 in a vintage kinda live love laugh place? Dear me.. oh well! The drink was ok, made with no interest but not the worst I had! The staff tho, I think it's their first job in front facing roles, or at all :/. They looked startled by the idea of talking to someone. Although I did leave giggling to the absurdity of the space which it kinda works in how bad it is? They gave us a huge pot of hot chocolate which we struggled to finish even half of as we didn’t realise how filling it would be and we had brunch ordered as well. The pistachio croissant that came along with hot chocolate was massive and extremely satiating, not to mention - delicious and flaky - very authentic! The brunch choices were eclectic and equally delicious. The portions were small so they were perfect for us as we had ordered 5 plates to share. Overall it was a pleasant experience. The service was top notch and extremely friendly and accommodating. Would recommend it!

Was there Saturday with my family and enjoyed the experience, food was excellent and staff were very attentive as we had a family member lactose intolerant and manager came out and marked the items she could eat, the restaurant was bright and classy, overall I’d definitely recommend going and I can’t wait to go back, thank you to all the staff.

Went foe brunch. Really looking forward to it....ordered 8 dishes.....each one stone cold (including the "hot" drinks)....and i mean STONE COLD, not room temp. It's as if all the dishes had come straight from the dish....and this isn't pastries, it was egg, hash browns, ham etc. Staff were nice, but genuinely unbelievable how this could even happen.

Went for brunch. Food was stone cold. Not even room temperature. It had literally came out of the fridge. Ice cold eggs and ham. Insane. Staff were nice, but still. Can't get my head round how this could even happen.

Travelled from Uddingston to West End on the 2nd attempted visit only to be told the same thing… we aren’t taking anymore take away orders even though we waited in the queue the first time for 5 mins and the second time only one person in front of us. We only wanted to buy a few macarons. There was 3 stacks in front of us with about 20 odd macarons on each! To make things worse an American couple who were behind us walked out munching on a croissant🙄 I asked them if they bought that from Valaria and they said yes, but were told they weren’t serving any hot drinks, I explained what they said to us and why we were so annoyed. Our son was with us and he was excited to try a massive macaron. We won’t ever be back. Customer service is pretty shocking too, you stand at the counter and everyone walks past you, no one saying be with you in a second or anything. Disappointed to say the least….. Very disappointing. Oily heavy croissants. Extremely pricey for what you are getting. Cold coffee, late served is small cups, and only in one size ( yes we asked for large, but then small cup was given) £5 plates from the menu are shockingly overpriced for what’s on them. Literally spoon of white yoghurt, with spoon of lemon curd and a sawdust ( called granola)….Nice decor, and that’s about it. We definitely gonna try next door to them, as after spending quite a bit in there, we were all still hungry! Another thing, don’t bother posting on their Facebook, they delete any negative feedback. So you are not actually getting the right information about that place.

Thought I would try again as the first time was just after it opened and such a disappointment and ridiculous set up. Today the 2nd time was just as disappointing. Waited in a queue to order coffee, sat outside and then waited a ridiculous time to get the coffee brought out...I actually cannot fathom why it takes them so long to do coffee. Definitely style over substance and won't be giving it a 3rd time...would highly recommend going absolutely anywhere else...

Came here for a quick coffee and pastry inbetween shopping for the first time as had seen the videos on tiktok/online etc and the place looks beautiful. Oh how we were disappointed. Got placed at a table crammed at the back next to 3 other tables and could barely move. Took 10 minutes for a waitress to come get our order just for a coffee even though the place wasnt busy. We then received our pastrys 10 minutes later, still no coffees. The croissant was beautifull, however we also ordered a millionaire shortcake which you would need to carry a chainsaw around to eat it. Flavour was lovely by my goodness it was absolutely solid and an unpleasant experience to tackle eating. Still no coffees (a black americano and mocha). 25 minutes later the coffee’s appeared. Americano full of coffee grinds, very gritty to taste. The mocha was a hot chocolate. Could not taste the coffee at all and was sickly sweet. Couldnt finish either. After all this we were told we couldnt pay cash, no sign anywhere outside or on the door to do so. Happy to pay by card but a warning would have been nice before hand. Bill came to around £17 which was very overpriced for two coffees, two cakes and terrible service. Not worth the hype unfortunately. Will not be back.

This place is buzzing and the staff are nice but it is chaotic. There seems to be no organisation where staff are assigned certain tables. No prices for cakes etc on the menu as far as we could see and avoid the soup, nice but tiny portion and overpriced. What is good value are the small plates, tasty and well presented but due to lack of organisation of staff sat on counter for too long so were tepid. With a bit of organisation it could be really good here and management should review the menu (print tiny so not very accessible) so soup was cheaper and cake prices included.

Ridiculously expensive very average food served by clueless staff. Nice decor though 😒. Can’t imagine them getting a regular clientele.

Disappointing. Visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon. We entered and waited at couple of minutes at the door before we were acknowledged, in a fairly unfriendly manner by a man we assumed was the manager. After a wait we ordered coffees and cakes. The coffees (flat whites and Americans) were ok but the cakes were terrible - overly sweet, tough (we were given only forks, which we struggled to cut them with) and incredibly overpriced. The atmosphere was pretty flat and we would be unlikely to return.

I was delighted to find this beautiful place when visiting Glasgow, more specifically, the Botanic Gardens. I was in need of brunch and this café provided an excellent solution. The menu encourages you to buy three plates for £15 (March 2024) which I did. The food is beautifully presented and tasted great. I had the maple bacon, the fruit and an almond croissant with a cappuccino. There was a slight delay while more croissants were baked but I was offered a free cappuccino to thank me for waiting. The service was good and the staff were excellent. The surroundings were pleasing and overall it was a very positive experience with good coffee and an unusual menu.

The Parisian hot chocolate and pistachio croissant were absolutely the best in Glasgow . However the service wasn’t great, the staff wasn’t able to handle the number of people in the bakery. It was evident to everyone, management should have taken the time to work on this. I had no cutleries or tissues for me to eat until I asked for it. Amazing bakery , scarce staff

Good choice on the breakfast menu with many pastries, breads and light bites. Staff were clean and polite, but slow on the service. Gorgeous little tearoom area that was spotless. Food was a bit slow but served piping hot when we got it.

31 “new”cocktail bar. Went on Saturday expecting something different and it looks exactly like it was before which was a disappointment. The decor and lay out is exactly the same just different drinks menu and nibbles. Service was very slow but probably due to lack of staff. Really was expecting something different so slightly disappointed

LThis place was the definition of underwhelming. The macaroni tasted like that cheap, tinned crap. Vom. I’m pretty sure I’d eat any kind of pizza. Even bad pizza has it’s time and place (usually on the way home from a night out), but this wouldn’t even fit that scenario. Slightly more edible than the macaroni, but still pretty dire. It’s a no from me.
