Banca di Roma in Glasgow City

Second visit here against my better judgement, my friend had booked for a meet up visit to Glasgow. We shared antipasti to start, ‘should have went to Morrisons’ the meat and cheese was supermarket quality at best, grisly and hard cheese. Four of us had pastas with varying levels of poor quality, some undercooked and mushy and mine was so al-dente I nearly lost a tooth, terrible for a so called Italian restaurant. When queried with the staff, was told that’s how it’s made in Italy😱 My friend had the £35 rib eye with extra sides at a substantial extra cost, meat was chewy and not cooked the way they’d asked, totally unacceptable at this price point, Wetherspoons quality. We decided to skip deserts and coffee/ liqueurs, ‘which we never do’, as the rest of the experience was so bad. Instead grabbed a couple of pre mixed espresso martini cans and Cornettos from the shop for the train home. Only good points were the wine and soft drinks as they couldn’t screw them up. Genuinely feel a bit sorry for the staff in here as they look totally dejected, and it’s no wonder with the state of the food they’re dishing up. Will not be back, definitely Never Again!!

Our experience in Banco Di Roma was excellent. It is housed in a stunning building with guests seated for dinner in what I think was the old banking hall. The welcome was really friendly and all of the staff were excellent, showed a real interest in all of us and were excellent at making recommendations, including a waiter who was on his first shift. The food was all excellent for all four of us and the staff made excellent wine recommendations. It was a great dinner.

Aesthetically, the surroundings are very instagramable. The staff are absolutely lovely. The wine was also lovely but the price is very expensive. The food was ok. All the food is expensive. The dessert - my friends had a hair in it. Mine had a bit of plastic or something in it. It’s really put me off returning. We didn’t broach it with staff, but we probably should have at the time. Just something to keep in mind.

After being turned away from another recently opened and popular city centre establishment as my friend had her newborn breastfed baby (apparently no under 18’s, although the place sold meals!), Banca could not have been more opposite in their service. So welcoming, went above and beyond to help/accommodate the pram, the food and drinks were so great, perfect portion sizes. Honestly couldn’t recommend more, will be back.

This is a hidden gem in Exchange Square in Glasgow has been there for over a year and did not know about it and passed it many times not knowing it was there. Food outstanding, service amazing and setting luxurious. Great choice of food and selection of drinks all very reasonably priced lunch menu 2courses only £17.95 . Loved it and will definitely be back now we know it’s there. Found our new go to restaurant.

We were in yesterday 10th aug..everything was lovely except where we were seated. Its almost like its an after thought of a group of tables,with no lamps and stuck over next to the door for the toilets. My chair was touching the table behind, and when they sat a young couple there I felt I was sat at their table. When you are seated far into this are its like you are not part of the main resteraunt ad atmosphere. It just needs a bit of thought with some lighting or foliage.

OMG seriously!!! Don’t waste your money!! Food tasteless and overcooked need to employ an actual ITALIAN chef who can cook and has a palate pasta overcooked and mushy they pass off a pizza base that is focaccia bread the food tbh is rotten and overpriced! Never again

6 of us were able to get a table on a Friday evening before heading back to London. Service was great and the food was very nice. It's a lovely building too

Was very disappointing service all round, my friend was treating me with her £100 voucher , we turned up at 3.30pm & was told they didn't have a reservation until 9.30pm which was our fault for not booking prior , once outside we went onto their website and discovered we can eat out outside but weren't offered that , booked that for 3.45 pm , turned up and given our table we then asked if we can use our voucher & the gentleman who attended to us said he would check & come back to us which he didn’t, we sat for 15 mins without anyone coming out to us , ordered a bottle of red wine salmon & steak for myself the waiter brought our dinner out & my friends mash potatoes were stone cold we weren't issued any cutlery or condiments which he then organised for us , we were told by the waiter that we would receive salad with our meal which we didn't have either, noticed a couple next to us who ended up leaving as they waited to long to get attended too . Downstairs toilets were out of order too ! really looking forward dining here bit wouldn't rush back .

We went for a birthday celebration and we were looking forward to it, will not be back unfortunately. The food was good very enjoyable just like most restaurants in Glasgow however the service extremely let it down. We waited nearly 40 minuets to get a drink, over an hour for food and then had to ask 3 separate times for the bill. Eventually we just took it up to the front desk as we had been waiting so long. Each server we asked completely disregarded our request and one actually went straight to another table to have a conversation with someone therefore we had to ask again after 15 minuets for our bill. Truly made myself and my partner feel very small and horrible. The girl at the front desk was absolutely lovely when we had said what had happened as we understand things can get busy but in this case I believe it was just poor service.

1st impressions - You think WOW this is going to be special…. But this reaction soon dipped once the service became. The ordering of drinks were fine. And i must command the Sommelier he was fantastic at helping us pick our wine. He showed real knowledge and was professional at the picking, tasting and pouring of the wine. If it wasnt for him the review would of been even less…. The waiter who took the order came over cold, aggresive and lacked total intrest. Starters were lovely really have to say how tasty the Crocchetta di cavolfiore were to die for. We were left sitting for over 30mins between the starter and the main course while tables around us who came in after us had starters and were onto their mains…. I had to actually to get the attention of the waiting staff before we got our mains. The foccaccia was cold and dried and it was obvs it had just been left under one of the lights in the kitchen….. I must say my Lamb ragu was very tasty but again i had to ask for cutlery… My freind has the Lasagna Verde this arrived cold but also burnt around the sides again it looked like it had just been left sitting in the kitchen. No real geniune apploligy for the delay it came over more aggressive than sorry. The lasgane was so poor it was unable to be eaten. The waiting staff just took it away Coffee & Liquers… limonchello should be served straight from the freezer - it most defo was not. Once the bill came they had taken the lasagne off - which was kind of them… but they also added a rather large service charge on it….. To me seems bizare as they know how bad the service had been. If your paying £18.00 for a lasagne then your expecting service to match the price tag….. Which is just not the case. Poor show overal from this place…….

I had a wonderful experience here at Bancia Di Roma, it was so quick, easy and efficient to book the reservation. Upon arrival we were greated by the most welcoming and kindest man at reception. He was so attentive and knowledgeable. His service was 15/10 which you can clearly see rubs off on the other staff, as the evening couldn’t have been better. The food was outstanding and the wine was delicious. I will 100% be back!

Went Saturday night for my birthday after waiting half an hour for our drinks the food wasn’t the best to be honest not one person came over to ask if our food was ok when our drinks where finished. We had to wait again when we asked for the bill The girl came over then asked how was our food we told her the experience wasn’t that great and in her own words said OH Well would definitely not recommend so much better places in Glasgow don’t get my wrong The decor is nice

The waitress said there was no table available, but I immediately made a reservation successful from Google, and she told me that she had not received the information.Even I accepted a 20 pound reservation penalty they don’t allow me in. I asked her that in an hour, the web page also showed that seats could be reserved, and the reservation interface showed that the seats inside were available. The two waiters discussed to throw me to the outside position, however I understand English, and then they told me that you can only do the outside, but obviously the inside is available, either the restaurant management update information is wrong, or they are racist to me. The waitress kept looking rude and impatient, pressing her pen also. She also said that I didn't get the email, that I didn't ask for my email when I made the reservation, made me fill out my card and PIN number, and asked me to pay a twenty pound security deposit to guarantee to come, apparently the waitress was very unfamiliar with the business, and so assured that I can understand and sympathize with your stubbornness and your limited knowledge. The reservation system at this restaurant is so bad that I gave my real name when I made the reservation and answered it when the waiter asked me, but the waiter called me that night to say that I had made the reservation under my Google account name and it was successful. I have two questions about this. If my reservation proves they were available, why did the waitress tell me the reservation was full? Since I put in my real name and it shows the name of the Google account, how does the consumer know which name to provide? And I also specified the time I booked. Is it difficult to find the corresponding information during this time period? The problem is actually that they don't want to serve me, the waitresses have been reluctant and impatient, no matter how much I argue I'm pretty sure of that. In addition, I have never seen a restaurant harassing the guests by phone at 10 PM after receiving the review, trying to blame me for the reason. I stressed that I asked you five or six times to find the information and my reservation was successful, but they did not ask for my mobile phone number, just the name, and I told them the name I used to book, now they blame and try to blame me for the problem, and even though I didn't make the reservation, did you have to be so impatient to get rid of me? Obviously, at that time they just wanted to drive me away without patience. I still remember the waitres rolling her eyes and telling me that you couldn't make a reservation without mail, but I am pretty sure the website actually not required the email, so then why are you telling me I am successed without email now? The waiter asked me back to the restaurant to see if my Google account name was displayed. Please, this is your system problem. Why am I wasting my time? Your system, management and timely update of information are very problematic. Moreover, I successfully reserved a table inside the restaurant, but you told me that even if I had to wait for another hour, I could only sit outside, and it was raining heavily. If I knew I had to sit outside, I could not make a reservation. I booked a seat on the inside successful but you only let me sit on the outside, which is not discrimination I can't figure out. I've been to a lot of fine restaurants in London and other cities and I don't think you can compare them in terms of price and quality, and even fine restaurants have never had anything like this happen. They kept trying to get me to leave, and when I left, I could only say that if you took my money, I would come back, and the waiter was still very firm and said that it was impossible to take your money because you didn't succeed. Instead of apologizing for their rude impatience and wrong work, they are now calling to accuse me, I am not your employee, and as a consumer I refuse to cheat me in this restaurant by only allowing me to sit outside and eat on a rainy day.

We were fortunate to get a seat here without a booking on a Saturday afternoon. The service was nice and the atmosphere was good - the decor is lovely and feels quite grand. We shared two small plates to start, which were ok. Overall, the food was underwhelming - my friend and I both ordered a pizza which was advertised as having tenderstem broccoli as a topping. However, it was just plain old broccoli and in fact tasted microwaved and a bit bland. Otherwise a nice enough experience but the food maybe a little overpriced for what it is.

Went with a friend and saw mixed reviews but needn’t have worried . Staff were friendly. A handsome wine waiter came over with our wine and I checked it wasn’t the £100 wine I’d seen on menu lol . Potions were very ample. I had the zucchini fritti followed by parmigiana which was the best I’ve ever had even in Italy - I couldn’t finish the delicious Itiramisu. Highly recommended 👍👍

Style over substance. Nice setting, food very medicore (starter was almost cold) The "suits" had good service, the younger waiters need more training imho. 12.5% service fee is a joke!

Today we had an 'afternoon tea' at the very stylish Banca di Roma. What a delightful experience, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. Beautifully arranged with generous, tasty sandwich fillings including a chicken with chilli jam, and cakes including a fresh fruit tarte with chantilly cream, everything homemade and presented with edible flowers. We thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you.

An excellent boutique of Italian cuisine, characterized by a traditional and very elegant touch. Highly recommended!

Beautiful building, but far too big for a restaurant. Lacked atmosphere and intimacy. Food was nothing to get excited about and menu was pretty basic. Toilet was upstairs and quite a long way from our table. Almost required a map and compass! For an establishment that was so large I was somewhat taken aback at there only being one toilet for males and females. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Food was amazing and staff were brilliant. Watch out for the high service charge though.

Meh. Would not recommend. Visited here on a Friday night for dinner. Venue is nice inside but barely changed since it was Zizzis. To start we ordered the scallops, fried pasta, mortadella and pistachio dish and the chicken bites. The scallops were nice, the chicken bites a bit dry bit okay - more like something you’d get in a Bucks Bar type venue. The fried pasta dish was a huge disappointment - it was basically just an arancini but very dry and flavourless. For mains I had the tortellini with burrata and nduja. There was no nduja so it was so bland, let others try and they agreed it was so tasteless. We got a focaccia to share only it isn’t focaccia - it’s a flatbread. Plain and overpriced. The service was pleasant, everyone we encountered was friendly and polite but it was very slow. We ordered a bottle of wine at the same time as our food but it took longer to arrive than the food. Ended up skipping dessert because the food had been so poor and the service so slow that we were ready to leave. A small point but the music didn’t fit the surroundings and there was a speaker directly above our table so it was a bit OTT. A pretty overpriced disappointment.

Best Italian I’ve had in Glasgow. Lovely decor and atmosphere. Open kitchen, watch the pizza dough get tossed 3m into the air. The food is delicious. Reasonable prices for the experience

Potentially a good place but on Tuesday evening it was very quiet, giving poor atmosphere, and I was very disappointed with the food. I had lasagne and the taste was very good but the temperature was just too cool- not cold but a long way away from piping hot. I don’t think I’ll try this place again

We stumbled upon this place after visits the GoMA museum on a Tuesday lunch time. The venue is stunning, and staff are extremely friendly. The drinks are fabulous - especially the Prosecco. Food was tasty, especially the tiramisu is excellent. Very well priced. Can’t wait to come back, and sending everyone I know here.

Service wasn't good, we had to pour our own wine when bottle was presented at table, resteraunt was quiet took a long time to clear our plates. Tiniest portion of chips and their expensive. Wine list is long and boring and expensive. £12 for a slice of cheesecake ridiculous.£5 for a schooner of lager did t realise we where in Australia table facing the kitchen all the chefs just staring at the tables won't be back.

Unfortunately my experience here was a little underwhelming Service and atmosphere was good but the food we ordered was odd/unsatisfactory We ordered focaccia and olive oil from the menu which turned out to be a somewhat bland thin garlic bread (?) Then we ordered the chicken main, which was a sad looking small tough chicken breast with some plain mash and mushroom sauce, £22 is a bit rich. Pasta main was lovely but I don’t think I’d ever come here again.

I recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Banca di Roma and had an exceptional experience. The service provided by the staff was outstanding, creating a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant is one of the best Italian spots in Glasgow, offering authentic and delicious food. The open kitchen concept allowed us to witness the chefs' culinary artistry firsthand. Popped in yesterday with a friend and was seated upstairs for a drink - service was exceptional, by Allanah who was extremely warm, friendly and knowledgeable making us something bespoke! She made the place!

Expensive for lunch, food was decent but definitely wouldn't rush back better Italians in city center. Italian older waiter could've cracked a smile but young Scottish girl was lovely.

Nice staff. Clean restaurant. Good range of refreshing cocktails. Had a lychee and raspberry spritz, t'was delightful 10/10. For starters had the arancini, sea salt and rosemary focaccia et zuccini fritti and for mains the paccheri ai fritti de mer. Would definitely revisit to explore more of the menu.

The was the first good Italian food that we found in the UK. Everything was delicious! I had the lasagna and my wife had the risotto.

Ordered a full lobster and when it arrived half was missing. The head and body of each half of the lobster was missing and stuffed with the claw meat to hide the fact it was missing. When I lifted the claw meat out of the body there was nothing in the lobster except in the tail. When I asked to speak to the manger he said you don’t eat the meat out the head or the body and dismissed the fact the the chef had taken the meat out to accommodate a pasta dish containing lobster which was on the menu. The wine server actually had the decently to confirm that in fact did happen. The rest of the table had the 200g steak which was like a kid size. This was presented by being cut in to 3 separate chucks. Even thou it was cut the chef still managed to make it well done even though they should have been medium. Heard a few people complain about the steak being cut up for you. Table behind us also complained about there steak and pasta being cold. The don’t have had dryers in the toilets only hand towels which there was none replenished for the duration we dined in the restaurant despite a few people coming up and saying to staff members. Not value for money, venue looks nice but that’s about it, don’t waste your money.

The service here is amazing. Waiters were really nice and they treated us well. Food was tasty and didn’t take time to come. Portion sizes could be better though. Very lovely and beautiful interior and you can see the chefs cooking your food.

I went here with my boyfriend and we were not disappointed. The starters were amazing we got the sharing platter fritto all italiana which we highly recommend. For mains I got the pasta ‘the one&tortelli’ which was very rich in flavour would definitely have it again. The atmosphere in the restaurant is vibrant and nice, our waitress Lisa was very kind and made sure we enjoyed everything. Also special thanks to the head chef Giuseppe for the lemon sorbet on the house and the lovely detail to attention with the food! Already planning our next visit back!

First time visiting Banca di Roma. WOW !! Wonderful food and wine OMG ! Matthew is so hot, he lights up the room with his cheeky smile Wonderful restaurant and ambience.

Absolutely amazing! Couldn’t recommend more. I hadn’t heard much about this place, but decided to try it out and the service and food was incredible. One of the chef’s, Giuseppe even gave us some sides of chips on the house and the server also gave us some limoncello at the end of our meal which we enjoyed 😊. Very friendly staff and professional service, we will definitely be back soon!

Incredible! Service was immaculate, staff looked after us very well, always topped up our wine and water glasses - absolutely 10/10. Food was outstanding! We went for La gran Carbonara, which was served in Pecorino cheese right at the table. The building is stunning, love that the original architectural structure was kept, super high and gorgeous ceilings - which adds to the atmosphere! Overall, very beautiful restaurant!

Outstanding! Have walked passed the restaurant a few times but never been in, however always noticed it due to the lovely architecture. Came across it on another site and decided to book a table for lunch. The service was really great, very attentive and helpful. Great food, highly recommend!

Disappointing experience. Booked for my daughters 21st birthday meal for my family of 5. Noted this on my booking but no special touches or acknowlegement was offered. Staff weren't attentive and food was mediocre and bland. The venue is stunning but I'm afraid that was the only positive, this Restaurant is style over substance. Left feeling deflated and like it was a waste of money.

For me this is now one of the top restaurants in Glasgow. Some of the best pasta i have ever had outside of Italy. Wonderful setting and really great staff and service. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful building but let down by service and mediocre food. Our waiter was not just unfriendly, all pleasantries were skipped (no - how was your meal) and generally just didn't communicate to us (when picking up the empty plates, said literally nothing to us). Perhaps a bad day. Other staff we interacted with to try order dessert or drinks were however very courteous. The food was fine - you are paying for the atmosphere rather than quality food. Lasagne was ok. The carbonara was so salty I couldn't finish it. Coffee was bad - tasted of stale coffee beans. We didn't bother complaining about this, had very little confidence that our waiter would listen. Besides, we understand everyone can have a bad day. But final straw was that they charge you a mandatory 12.5% service irrespective of party size or day, very willing to pay for a meal we enjoyed, but it wasn't earnt on this occasion. Not even a 'thank you' when we paid our bill or a 'goodbye' when we left our table, or leaving the building - even though the host was stood at the entrance. We don't expect the red carpet but simple acknowledgement would've been appreciated, rather than feeling like a ghost. Good if you only really care about the atmosphere and setting. But I care about food and service (at least just the basics) more and there are plenty better in the vicinity and much friendlier on your wallet. 3 stars rather than less because I don't really want to pull the rating down too much for a local business, but I won't be back.

We had dinner on a Monday evening and had a wonderful time. The decor is fabulous and makes the most of the building’s features. Our waiters were very attentive and one in particular, the wine waiter, who was very informative about the various wine options. Delicious food too ! We really enjoyed our visit and thanks to all of the staff for looking after us so well.

I recently visited Banca di Roma and had the most lovely time. From the minute we walked in the door staff were so welcoming. We had many cocktails my favourite being Disco sour. The food was amazing. I had the zucchini fries to start followed by the carbonara which lives up to the hype. It was served in a cheese wheel at our table which we thought was an incredible touch. Staff were so attentive and made us feel so special. Cannot fault the place and can’t wait to go back!

What a profoundly disappointing experience. Lovely venue, nice and solicitous staff. Awful Italian food. Small portions (not a particular crime in this day and age) but food that I would have been disappointed in at a Zizzi’s, which is ironic as this is what this building used to be. Pasta di frutti de mare that was under cooked and tasteless. A lasagne that I would have been disappointed in if it came from a supermarket and lukewarm to boot. After all that the bill for two came to £140 and to add insult to injury an automatic 12.5% service charge. As you can imagine not recommending…

Very nice looking italian restaurant. Only thing I disagree with is their focaccia. Never seen anything like they served as focaccia. Definitly not what I expected to get because it was just a pizza without cheese. Other than that really good.

Booked in advance with it being Easter Monday but was surprisingly quiet. It's not cheap but food was well presented and tasty and the wine wasn't bad either!

Great choice of wines and the lasagna was beautiful. Kristof our waiter was very attentive and checked up on us regularly. I dropped my fork and he appeared within seconds with a new one. It was a great night and highly recommended

Amazing restaurant with the most perfect food and staff! I went here a few nights ago and I am still thinking about the food!! The atmosphere was wonderful, such a beautiful building and is very well decorated and maintained. The staff are incredible, they really look after you and offer recommendations and are eager to help no matter what. I tried the steak and the lasagna, along with focaccia and frittatina for starters and the lingotti for dessert and everything was stunning. The lasagna was decadent, the best I’ve ever had! The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and went amazingly with the mash and the peppercorn sauce. The starters were really great too, definitely don’t skip on them because they were wonderful. The dessert was a perfect way to end off the meal, so creamy and rich yet so light. The cocktail menu is extensive- I tried the hugo spritz which was refreshing and addictive! The selection of wines was great too and I enjoyed the recommendation I was given by the staff. I had a wonderful time at the Blanca di Roma and will definitely be returning. Perfect food, perfect staff and perfect vibes 💕💕💕💕

Came here for lunch ch being colleagues and have mixed feelings. We decided to opt for the lunch menu set as quite impressed by the choices. Wine list was hit and miss. Not enough choices. Our bottle of red was decent enough but at £30 it is definitely not cheap. Our starters of mussels were lovely. Really tasty. Friends had the pork belly and looks delicious. My tomatoes sauce tagliatelle was ground sad quite frankly. I might as well Open a jar of tomatoes sauce myself. Nothing spectacular. So slight disappointment. They could do so much better

Had a lovely meal with friends at the fantastic restaurant. Thr atmosphere was lovely and service was great. Had the salmon fish for my meal which was delicious.

A celebration merits champagne. And I expect to pay a premium price (16.75 a glass or the bottle price as I did) No complaints there. But I do expect champagne glasses…. What we got were white wine size glasses and shape ..in no way a flute. A conversation with the maitre d’ was comforting as other customers have also complained about this. Food was great. Service also very good. I’ll be back when you get your glassware sorted.

Had the most amazing time, there was a great atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The food was delicious especially the bigne con panna e cioccolato. Absolutely love the cocktails. It was very clean and we didn’t have to wait too long to eat.

I went here on a Monday night which was honestly the perfect time to go because it was quiet and very peaceful. First of all the decor is absolutely wonderful and felt extremely high end. Upon entering, a very kind gentleman took our coats and asked about our day etc which was very welcoming. When ordering the process was quick and very easy, my partner and I do not speak Italian at ALL so we had a slight joke with the waiter when ordering our meal who was also very very sweet. The experience and service were top tier and the food was beyond delicious! I highly recommend the lasagne as they make it one of a kind !! Having sat near the kitchen I also did notice their kitchen is incredibly clean as you can see the chefs make everything and the food also came quite quick! Will definitely be back, this is now my favourite restaurant is Glasgow ◡̈

Excellent service. The host on the door was so kind and really made my experience delightful. The food was incredible, the cocktails were lovely (my favourite being the Cuban South). We went up to the bar after our dinner and the bartenders were so lovely and the service was top level. Cannot wait to be back and try even more next time !!

Very disappointed, ordered three of there so called specials, and they were just bang average and massively overpriced. Waited ages for drinks and ended up no drinks during starter and main. Lasagna and carbonara bang average at best.

Bang average arrived too early made to wait in the rain my mother 78!! family got seated b4 us even though we were told you cannot get your table until 12 Napkins stained did not take jackets very rude girl on front desk asked 3 times if my mother could stand in the doorway as it was very cold outside manager said no assuming she asked them. Starter was very cold it hurt my teeth main was ok no dessert or alcohol £122 service charge added of 15% they aren’t shy! Went with my wife and sons. It’s a beautiful building and the staff were attentive. The food was not good and the chicken I had must have been starved to death. More meat in a chicken nugget. Rest of family didn’t enjoy their food either. Poor choice of beers with only one very overpriced option. As I say staff were nice so didn’t feel it was fair to complain to them but definitely would not go back

I recently booked out the private dining room Saturday 17th February for 8 people for my friends 30th birthday. When we first walked in to get the table, I was told the room was not yet ready, bearing in mind I booked this room months ago and dropped off all required balloons, cake, and decorations the night before with a reminder our table would be in at 7pm and it was a very special birthday. We were sent upstairs to the bar for 30 minutes until the table was ready. Once we sat down, I had to get up 20 mins later to ask if anyone was going to take a drinks order from us. A pre-order was provided however the birthday girl still needed to order which I also needed to remind them. The food took longer than I would have expected considering all but 1/8 orders were pre ordered. The food was generally good, carbonara cheese wheel dish was heavy on the pepper but the girls who had this didn’t seem to mind too much. I had the lasagne which was really good so food was really the only positive note of the night. Half way through eating the fire alarm went off and the whole top floor was covered in smoke which travelled down to the main area and pretty much ruined the vibe of the rest of the evening as the smell was horrible and lingered for a while. Not one person came in to apologise or let us know what had happened. I had to get up 3 times in total to request a waiter to take a drinks order from us and despite committing to a minimum spend to use the room and knowing we were celebrating a really special birthday we were not given the service or attention I would expect. I asked the waiter to bring out the cake I had provided but by the time this came out we needed to leave for our next reservation and didn’t have any time to enjoy any cake so this was essentially an expensive cake absolutely wasted because of the slow service and lack of attention from this restaurant. We were there for 3 hours in total and managed a couple of starters for the table and a main each. I’m not usually one to post publicly about a bad experience but I will genuinely not return to Banca Di Roma or recommend this restaurant to anyone after this as the whole experience really did put a complete downer on what started as a lovely day for my friend.

Visited a couple of times, the location is beautiful, service is always impeccable and food is delicious. This is a proper italian place and not one of the fake ones.

We booked a meal for two through OpenTable for 6:45pm, however upon arrival at said time, our table was not ready and we had to wait in the reception area for some time. We did not mind this too much and didn’t think anything of it, oblivious to the fact this would be the first of many mishaps of the evening. We eventually got sat at a table that wasn’t even fully set (missing napkins etc) at around 6:55. We then waited until 7:20 until a waiter came over and asked us if we wanted water, we said yes, he then gave us water and disappeared again. We didn’t have the chance to order drinks until 7:45, an hour after our reservation began. At this point we were very hungry so asked to order our food at the same time, which he said was fine. We got our food and drinks at around 8pm. The food was very good and we have no complaints in that department. We finished our food and waited for a long time until the waiter reappeared around 8:30, when we asked for a dessert menu. We ended up waiting for a waiter to come back and take our order for a further 30 mins. At this point we decided to leave dessert and just get the bill as we had reservations after this that we had to make on time and they had just taken way too long to serve us. Overall, we would have understood if they were overly busy or understaffed, however we witnessed other tables coming in around us and being served their drinks and food within 15 mins of entering the restaurant. We just felt neglected and ignored and spent a lot of time and money in this restaurant that was unnecessary. Food would be 5 stars if the service wasn’t so poor.

We had a simple horrible experience dining here. I was trying to talk to my wife but behind her I could see a chef in the kitchen standing glaring at us for nearly the whole evening. We hadn't even ordered yet! The two managers Neil and John were also very odd in their unprofessional manner towards the very put upon and stressed staff. This hostile 'local shop for local people' atmosphere reduced my wife and I to hysterics, but we shan't be returning. You can have as good a laugh at home for far less money.

Lovely surroundings but food was average and service was inattentive. The fire alarm sounded 4 times when we were there because of the smoke from the kitchen which, by the time we left, the smell was clinging to our clothes. Plenty of other places in Glasgow that don't charge anywhere near as much for basic food and are not arrogant enough to put 12.5% service charge on a bill when the service is so poor!

Shocking bad. Don't waste your money. Style and no substance. Rubbery squid and dry overcooked chicken...avoid. plenty of better places in Glasgow at more reasonable prices.

Rather disappointing. Expected this to be a great experience due to the location, the prices and overall poshness. However, the food was either ugly-looking, bland or burnt. £15 for a few pieces of burnt chicken? I am sorry, that’s laughable. Rest of the food wasn’t much better than Tesco. Extremely overpriced for what it is.

Ivy prices for a Weatherspoons atmosphere.

This was our second visit. The first was like a pantomime, and I had warned our friends about this, but the food is good. Except, this time it wasn't. Very below average and the first time I could say I did not like a Focaccia. That is a first. Also 50 quid a head? Lst time I am afraid.

Very welcoming and warm atmosphere, kind staff and they were very helpful. Quite restricted Italian menu , the menu does have a range of pasta pizza and meat, a small drink and desert menu recommended for a late lunch rather than dinner. A reasonable wait for the food around 35 minutes for 4 meals and starters around 10 . A little overpriced not to much but to be honest it was okay. Overall mid resteraunt.

Visited with my partner on Saturday afternoon and cannot fault this place! I thought the staff were fantastic, very helpful and so pleasant! The pizzas were absolutely delicious and the decor is beautiful. I don’t understand the bad reviews, we really enjoyed our visit! I would recommend!

Visited with another couple for the first time. The surroundings, service and atmosphere was very good. The music is a little louder than it should be on a Saturday night. We were up stairs directly underneath a speaker which didn't help. If only a little quieter it would have been fine. The food was great and the portions were a good size. The pizzas were very good as was the calamari and bruschetta. Prices were average for the city centre. Would definitely return and recommend.

Overall very disappointed - food was below average. Service wasn’t great, cocktails weren’t made well. It looks nice inside, lovely actually… seems they have put all their efforts into making the place instagrammable but have forgotten all the basics. Owner was rude too. Food was that horrible that I didn’t even bother to take a pic - I’m known for taking food pics. Will not be back and would advise others to avoid and go elsewhere.

Delicious food, excellent service and lovely ambiance. Staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Food was hot, plentiful and perfectly seasoned. The pasta was wonderfully al dente and served in a quirky tomato-shaped dish. Highly recommend it, will definitely return.

Loved everything about this restaurant. The service was excellent, the food sublime and fairly priced. The decor is beautiful. On the proviso that nothing changes I would be happy to go back again and again.

Lunch with girlfriends . Like most other reviews will start with the building and how beautiful it is although the large high ceilings are stunning it makes it hard to create an atmosphere but did appreciate the soft ambient music. Service is sullen and unfriendly from the minute you walk in with cloak room attendant offering to take ours coats as if we had interrupted her day , no smiles didn’t seem happy to be there. As a group of 5 we were seated at two tables for two pushed together so three sitting along the bench seating at the kitchen area didn’t work with the end place setting falling off the edge of the table . When we asked for another table they obliged by pushing up another table for two which meant one person was facing an empty space and a bit out of the group. While I realise a group of 5 is an awkward number to seat , round table would have been a better option. Service was prompt and food was good , portions were small and one person having salmon had to order vegetables separately or would have received a plate of salmon with nothing else . We all find this type of dining experience aimed at maximising profit with no regard for the diner. Desert things went a little south as well . Poached pear with ricotta and salted caramel sounded amazing , less so when three paper thin slithers of pear arrived on bed of crumble . I thought maybe more pear underneath but sadly no and felt couldn’t return as had already dug in to try and find more pear. I think trading standards would have something to say with respect to something not as advertised . There was no crumble mentioned on the menu so maybe they’d ran out of pear and zipped this up as an alternative , very very disappointed as I was so looking forward to poached pears of which there was little to none . Other diner ordered a cheese board which was supposed to come with crackers but none arrived . When we asked for them the server was somewhat confused as to whether the cheese came with crackers . Eventually diner was offered some bread instead which was declined and sent the cheese back . Again like others feel service charge added automatically is not acceptable . I always tip well with good service but hate having it forced upon you. £26 pounds was added to our bill. I tip according to service , 10% 15% or even 20% for excellent service . Service was okay everyone is just a bit serious and sullen , just one server was friendly and smiled . All in all bit pricey and overrated , yes food is good but portions are small and other establishment ls get same quality of food at better price point . Paying for all the sullen staff .

Went here today with friends The venue was a lovely building However thought it was cold Their was no atmosphere in the place Food was just ok , my friend ordered the salad however more lettuce than anything else Prices were high 12.5 % added to the bill . Very disappointing

This place charges a 12.5% service charge, so -2 stars as this ridiculous practice really needs to stop. The restaurant is located where Zizzi used to be. The building itself is amazing and the place looks great. The food however is not a great departure from the food Zizzi served. The Carbonara we had was very good, but everything else was mediocre. The 2 things that really disappointed were the Torta al Cioccolato which was dry and bland, and the Disco Sour which was not sour at all but very sweet. It's a sin to have such a nice restaurant in such a great spot and serve such mediocre food, so -1 star for that as well. Overall it was a pleasant evening but a poor dinner. We might be back at some point in the future if they drop the service charge and improve the food, but at this point I just can't recommend it.

So disappointed in having to post this review. Service was diabolical, so many suited men running around full of their own importance, hard to get attention. We arrived at 5:30, didn't get our main till 7pm, & that was after having to ask why we were still waiting! Had to ask twice for water for the table. Not once were we approached to place a drinks order. Individual pot of potatoes were cold, sent back only to have the replaced about 15minutes later! We decided to not order dessert for fear of having to wait another hour. Not that we were even afforded a look at the dessert menu! Food wasn't all that either. And then there was the music! Such a beautiful building how nice it would have been if they had utilised the grand piano situated in the upstairs bar. Instead the music only helped to ruin the whole experience, thumping music you'd expect to hear coming out of a bar in Magaluf. Seriously guys, if I owned this place I'd be calling a meeting this morning to clear out the majority of the useless staff who could all be doing with training. Not a smile amongst them. Greeters & cloakroom girls were Lovely. Would I go again? Not if you paid me.
