Fantastic place for brunch and so much more. Stopped here on our last day in Edinburgh and only regret was we didn’t find it sooner. Great food and service. One place well worth visiting when in town.

This place was at the top of our list having seen lots of reccos and good reviews. We weren’t able to get in on our first day so we made a booking for the next morning (would recommend to avoid disappointment - but worth a look on the website if leaving it to the last minute, we were able to book when we woke up within the hour!). I had the banana and butterscotch French toast (gluten free!!!) and a Capuccino which were both delicious. I can’t remember the last time I had French toast out so it was a real treat, and it wasn’t sickly and heavy as they sometimes can be. We were tucked into a corner and loved people watching, we even ordered a second drink to extend our stay. Only change would be that staff could be a little more attentive, we had to wait a while for the bill and for our plates to be cleared. But when they did come they were pleasant and friendly.

We came with tons of research for this brunch choice on our list in Edinburgh. I had previously messaged them about GF French toast, and they said of course! Coming from USA, it’s hard to come across places accommodating and kind about it, many options to chose. I got the Banoffee French Toast and my husband got the Baked Eggs. Both dishes were amazing, best French toast and texture was amazing, the baked eggs was incredible and so unique. Both of our drinks were fabulous the dirty chai and tumeric latte. We did get a booking for 9am and that was highly recommended, it got busy fast I would be sure to book! We would come here again!

If you want a good breakfast in Edinburgh you have to book. Rightly Urban Angel is one of those you must book early. We managed to snag a table at the last minute amazingly. Well worth the trying as our poached eggs and bacon were perfect. Good coffee and great service. Personally was not a fan of the sausages.

I googled "best breakfast spots in Edinburgh" and this place came up so we thought we'd try it. I pre-booked a table for a Friday morning at 9.15. Deceptive place with lots of additional inside seating at the back. We only wanted a small breakfast so both ordered porridge with berries and honey. Absolutely fantastic - huge, fresh portion with lots of fresh berries. We also ordered a latte, a decaf Americano and a fresh apple juice - all delicious too. Staff lovely and great service. Would definitely return & recommend.

El desayuno nos costó 55£ para 3 personas. Desde el principio nos dijeron que la mesa había q liberarla en 30 minutos, 10 minutos después sin habernos servido aún nos lo volvieron a repetir. Cuando fuimos a pagar pasado este tiempo quisimos pedir otro café para mi hija que acababa de llegar. No solo no me dejaron pedirlo para tomar allí sino que además en muy mal tono me recordaron que nos lo habían advertido. Muy poco comercial. He encontrado otro sitio para desayunar mañana que tiene muy buena pinta.

I just had to write a review because of how lovely the staff here were today. Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly, attentive, smiling and just generally lovely! The food was great too but management should know how wonderful their staff are. Visited on 20/7/24 at 11am.

Fantastic breakfast spot! Myself and my partner (and dog) had breakfast here before climbing up Arthur’s Seat. The food was fantastic - I had yoghurt and granola bowl and my partner had the pear and chocolate French roach. Both were tastey, and a great portion size for our walk. Great service and friendly staff!

Creative combinations of fresh and flavorful food options. Service was amazing with such personal attention to detail to things without even asking for extras. The atmosphere was lovely and just perfect for a special morning Easter breakfast.

We had done a quick Google search for nearby brunch venues and stumbled across this wee gem tucked away. Very friendly and welcoming staff showed us downstairs to our table. The decor is the opposite of urban - very country kitchen-esque. The menu selection was just what we were looking for. I opted for a BLT and my husband had the toastie of the day (chicken parm) with chips on the side, all washed down with a mimosa each. The food was absolutely delicious. The BLT was next level - not your average, that's for sure! We were pleased to find that whilst the venue is dog friendly they are limited as to where they can go, which was excellent for us as non-dog people. Everyone's a winner in that respect. We are so pleased to have found this place and will definitely be back! Thanks for a lovely experience.

10/10 I would recommend this cafe all day long. By God the butterscotch French toast I got was the most decedant thing I have ever eaten and would love to eat again. They have great gluten free options and the staff are well educated on the options and cross contamination. Very friendly staff and delicious food. A must visit and I will definitely be back upon my next visit to Edinburgh.

Gorgeous food and great selection on the menu in terms of food, juices, drinks, etc. One of our favourite spots from our trip. Staff were very friendly and service was good. Lovely and clean building with a relaxing atmosphere.

Had a lovely breakfast here, we ordered baked eggs with black pudding with a chilli jam and poached eggs with gf bread hollandaise sauce with a wee kick! I had the sunshine glow Smoothie, my daughter ordered one too it was green but can't remember the name both were nice. Total bill was £45 which I thought was a bit expensive but I guess that's Edinburgh for ya

Arrived and managed to get a table right away which was lucky as it is popular. Unfortunately we did have to wait quite a while to order our food. My partner had a bacon and Lorne bap, which he said was nice and arrived in an okay amount of time. I had baked eggs with chorizo and black pudding which was lovely, but arrived late quite a long time after, after being told five minute (was around 10-15) so my partner had pretty much finished his food at that point (the waitress was very nice though, and did apologise). Due to the delays we were ready to go and had to wait amongst people waiting to buy their coffee (however, we can’t put a place down for being popular!).

Sat at the table having just had brunch here. Possibly one of the best brunches, if not the best brunch that we've had as a couple. Highly recommend the hummus toast and the chorizo, spinach eggs. food is 10/10, good vibe, must visit if in Edinburgh. Great job ladies 👍

We had a booking at 12.00 but the table wasn't ready and eventually seat at 12.20. Food was served at 12.50. A friend of mine did not like the food that was served and asked to order something else, but the waitress quite disappointed said that that was not possible as we only had 30 minutes more left and that there was no time left. We argued with this woman (as we also seat 20 minutes earlier and the clock should start counting from that moment!). Eventually they let us stay and eat our dish (as it should be...). Food is average and overpriced (the "frittata" - look at the picture - was more than £11!!).

Lots of choice. Delicious food and lovely coffee. Group of 7 and we were all really impressed with our breakfast. Staff were incredibly friendly and nice. Only tiny tiny issue, it was cold sat and the table. There was a draft blowing in from the door even though we were in another area.

Went for brunch with friends and booked ahead (there were queues at the door for tables). Staff very friendly and welcoming, food choice good but quality variable (some dishes v nice but bacon inedible for a couple), juices and coffee good. We were asked to leave the table (after 90 min) which isn’t ideal for brunch and also service was rather slow. Quirky interior with a variety of different areas and a bit dark.

Came in for breakfast on the recommendation of some local residents & the breakfast absolutely slapped! Coffees were spot on and arrived in great timing & the Bacon & Lorne bap really hit the spot! Real good comfort food & superb staff who were beyond friendly & assisted with any questions we had! Keep it up! The team is doing a cracking job!

This cafe is an excellent place for a casual breakfast. You probably should book the day before as we didn’t and there was an hour wait. It was well worth it as the menu was extremely broad with both sweet, savoury and healthy options!! The staff are extremely friendly and happy to help.

A gem of a restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh. Lovely staff who are friendly and helpful - very attentive too! Food is delicious, all home made and of a very high quality. So much to choose from too. Thoroughly recommend a visit if you are visiting Edinburgh. Looking forward to returning soon!

I spent hours and hours one evening trying to find a good place for breakfast for the next day and ended up falling back onto trusty urban angel. I have visited twice now and the breakfast is just amazing. Great, attentive service and lovely food. Can’t recommend enough!

We come through to Edinburgh every December for the Christmas markets etc, and we booked lunch in Urban Angel about 5 years ago and have coke back to the same place every year since, it has become part of the day every year. Food is great, service is great, atmosphere is always buzzing as it has a very odd little layout which adds to the whole experience. They also have a really good understanding of dietary requirements and are happy to adapt things to suit.

Visited for breakfast with partner and teenage daughters. Partner ordered a trad cooked breakfast, which he enjoyed. . Daughters had waffles which looked great. I Ordered the special of sourdough toast with spinach, sautéed mushrooms and a poached egg and extra veggie haggis. Cappuccino was Luke warm and even ‘extra hot’ one and I don’t care if this is how they like them in Italy, we in the UK , generally, do not. My breakfast turned up 10 mins after all the others but looked scrumptious. However, after eating a little I discovered a very long blonde hair, so not mine. After waiting a few minutes I went to seek out a waitress and peeked in the kitchen and noticed staff were not wearing head coverings despite having long hair - not sure if required by law but in a food environment and predominance of long haired staff would recommend it regardless. Replaced swiftly with a fresh plate minus hair - haggis appeared as almost finished but waitress disappeared so quickly didn’t have the chance to say anything. It was the end of a fabulous holiday abroad and didn’t have the energy to complain and really shouldn’t have had to if dealt with the matter appropriately. All in all our waitress was not interested, offered no real apology and the bill for breakfast was a bitter pill to swallow. I even waited for my £1.80 change, which I would never do but I don't tip for such poor service. Very disappointing.

Urban Angel es muy bueno para el brunch y tiene especialmente una gran café. El único inconveniente es intentar conseguir una mesa - es extremadamente popular en los fines de semana. Y también es bastante caro para lo que te dan. Se obtiene mejor relación calidad-precio en otro lugar, pero es un buen lugar al mismo tiempo y aún así lo recomiendo.

Brilliant/ friendly service and high quality breakfast ingredients. We found this spot a few minutes away from the tram that we took from the airport.

I read a review on trip advisor before I went up to Edinburgh and put this place down on my hit list! We arrived one morning around 11:30 for brunch but there was an hours wait so we put our names down and returned at our given time to be seated pretty quickly.

Great cafe, they don't overfill it so you don't have to wait forever for your meals to come out. Big portions as well and the staff are efficient and friendly.

We visited Urban Angel on recommendation and were not disappointed! We were seated straight away in a room towards the back of the restaurant- even though it was a working Monday it was busy and appeared popular. The menu offered all the usual brunch foods and the portion sizes were quite sizeable! I also liked how brunch was offered until quite late which meant there was no frantic rush to get there in time to order. The menu was quite pricey but we were expecting this before we went and the portion size meant there was value for money. The staff were friendly and the restaurant itself was homely and quite rustic.

The hot chocolate was tasteless and even the piace of cake. The prices was very high for nothing special.

Nos alojamos no lejos de Urban Angel y había visto el comentario en Trip Advisor antes fuimos a Edimburgo. La comida era precioso, como el café es propia. Fuimos dos veces en nuestra estancia de 3 noches, así que recomiendo sin duda un viaje. Hay una gran variedad y el aguacate en tostadas era para morirse. El té cuenta con un temporizador de arena, así que es perfectamente hecho.

Después de ver un montón de fotos de el brunch en Urban Angel en instagram estaba desesperado ir durante nuestras vacaciones. Visitamos el sábado por la mañana y es seguro decir que no me decepcionó! La comida era deliciosa y bien presentada. El servicio era excelente y tuvimos 3 camareras encantador que nos sirven y eran todos muy servicial y alegre. Yo tenía los huevos escalfados sobre una tostada con aguacate y daremos un magnífico batido y me encantó todo. Definitivamente recomendaría ir a Urban Angel si estás en la zona.

We had brunch here, it’s a very cute spot, great menu, very good if you’re a vegetarian including vegan options. Amazing selections of smoothies. Quick service, friendly staff and it had a great atmosphere. Definitely a go to place when your in Edinburgh looking for a good brunch spot.

Posdibly the best granola ive ever eaten. Was soooo good. Great sourdough toast. Only let down was the coffee. Were huge coffee fans and their coffee was very bitter. But the really good food and nice interior mafe up for it. Id go back and just skip the coffee next time. Wow.. that granola.

I googled restaurants that served the best breakfasts in Edinburgh and then decided to visit Urban Angel because of its central location and large range of breakfast options. I really wasn't disappointed; the venue was really cosy and the staff were polite and very helpful. I ordered the porridge with greek yoghurt and plum compote and it was creamy, moreish and incredibly delicious. The blueberry rooibos tea came with a quaint little timer (which I presumed was to let you know when the tea had brewed perfectly and was ready to pour? Genius!) and also came in a generously sized teapot. The menu and prices were different from what was online, but I didn't mind paying a little bit extra for the great quality of food and service!

Fresh squeezed juice with ginger shots really kicks the morning off to a great start. Followed by beautiful avocado with fresh herbs and feta! The guys in the kitchen really care about flavours and quality.

Can’t remember how many times we’ve been and yes it’s busy and bustling and perhaps you have to wait a minute or two BUT it’s well worth waiting for. So each time in Edinburgh it’s a must.

Interiores agradables, bastante rústico, parece que podría ser una casa antigua. El servicio no era increíble, no más amable y el servicio tardo un tiempo. El ambiente es encantador y el personal es cortés y servicial. Pero la comida es completamente delicioso - excelente y todos los lados huevos y avena muy bien - un gran comienzo para un frío día de octubre!

Our hotel recommended Urban Angel and they did not disappoint. We sat for some time in the front and enjoyed tea and breakfast while recovering from our overnight train from London. The Eggs Benedict with bacon was superb. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We're used to London prices but even so I'd put this place towards the top of mid-range for price but would have no hesitation to recommend it on quality. I'm sure cheaper places are available but why would you if you're on holiday?!

The food in here is good, expensive but good. You’ll be looking to pay £2-£2.50 far any extra/additions such as bacon/sausage etc. The staff need a little more training as most of them walk about as if they’re in a day dream if not a little stoned. One young lady was particularly un friendly and un welcoming but can’t fault the food really. It’ll be ok if your passing and staving.

Breakfast. Either a dash and go, wolf it down, perfunctory affair or, with time to spare, the most enjoyable meal of the day. If you're looking for the former, then don't pick Urban Angel. If you're looking for the latter, you've struck gold. Edinburgh is blessed with lots of great places to eat, so you need to be darn good to stand out in this City. Urban Angel does just that. It was quite simply the best brekkie I've ever had! Fascinating takes on tried and tested originals, or new ideas that get your mouth watering just reading the menu. The fact that I ordered two breakfast mains because I couldn't choose between them says it all (shared I should add). Oh, and the coffee is amazing. Plus, the interior is wonderful, with its small cosy rooms. My only negatives would be the slightly alouf front of house service while you're waiting for a table (and do expect to wait, but it's worth it). And the lunch menu is limited in comparison to breakfast. All that aside, this is one fab place.

After reading reviews and looking forward to visiting this cafe/bistro we were very disappointed with the reception received on arrival.

A small, friendly cafe with a range of fresh food options and a wide range of drinks. The best part for me was the gluten free fresh bread, proper crusty bread - never have I had such nice gluten free bread! My husband even commented it was nicer than the 'normal bread'. Great for a late breakfast. Be prepared for a bit of a wait at a weekend as it does get busy.

We had a wonderful time, staff was very nice and coffee was the best I ever had. Even though the price is slightly higher, it is definitely worth it. Tip: try the avocado on toast! Delicious :)

I had a quickly breakfast in this place on Sunday morning. It looked very busy and they had a waiting time for a table around 30/40 mins. I was on my own so they offered me to have my breakfast just in front of the bar. It was ok to me because I was in a rush. My friend recommended me this place and now I know way. As a vegetarian I found the menu amazing, full of vegetarian options and I genuinely didn’t know what to have for breakfast: too many options! I finally decided for the eggs florentine and they were just AMAZING!! Really really nice, spinach really tasty, poached eggs cooked perfectly! I would recommend pumpkin seeds on top and it will become a perfect dish! Finally a fresh orange juice so hard to find around. Nice place, lovely atmosphere, polite and friendly staff. I definitely will come back here and I strongly recommend this place for brunch or breakfast! Quiet expensive to be fair but a really nice experience! Can’t wait to try one of their smoothies and juices they all look very healthy and good! Thank you guys for this awesome experience!

My partner drew up a list of places she would like to visit ( Urban Angel being one of them) and to say we were disappointed would kind of be an understatement.

Cannot recommend this place. Friends had been here before - on last visit our celiac friend ordered a gluten free meal which came with a big slice of regular bread! Thinking it was a one off mistake we gave them another shot but the exact same thing happened. Waitress seemed very surprised by the idea of 'no gluten at all'. In addition on this visit our friend was brought the wrong salad order and they were awkward about making the right thing. All this for very overpriced food. No apologies either.

Called in for flat whites, ended up staying for breakfast after looking at menu! Needless to say didn't need any lunch later. Very good.

Cenato questa sera e devo dire di essere rimasto sorpreso. Dal menù sembrava dovessero essere tutte delle piccole portate (tipo tapas) mentre invece i piatti erano abbastanza ricchi. Quindi con 6 pezzi ordinati in 2 persone ci siamo davvero riempiti. Molto buona la qualità e contenuti i prezzi.

Un salto aquí un brunch a media mañana y descubrimos que en vez hacer cosas tipo desayuno convenientemente hasta las 3:00 pm. Tenía huevos revueltos en masa madre - sencillo pero bueno y un café con leche. Café fuerte dependiendo de su gusto. Gran servicio. Estoy seguro de que volveremos a por huevos benedictinos al lado!

En general era bastante contentos con UA - comimos allí tres veces durante nuestra estancia. Ocasionalmente, pero espera y retrasos nos quedamos muy contentos con el servicio, el ambiente, la ubicación, y (vegetariana) opciones de menú. Nota: recomiendo su ser más congelados acai bowl de jabonosa.

Perzufall auf dieses tolle kleine Caffe gestossen. Niedliches Lokal mit städtischem Charm. Die Speisekarte war umfangreich und es gibt frisch gepresste Säfte und Smoothis! Das Früstück schmeckte lecker und es wurde rasch serviert. Nur zum weiter empfehlen!

Had a light veggie salad lunch with aubergine, squash, tzatziki, pesto, pearl barley. Very nice. Lots of coffee. Staff were lovely. Didn't get the chance to visit again but happy to do so.

I came for breakfast and had berry French toast with yogurt. This is art on a plate and for the palette. It was light, organic, with unique flavors. It was so good I came back for dinner and has beet and apple cole slaw and sweet potato fries. The dips and sauces are incredible. They baked the fries first and then deep fries them so they were light and airy in the middle and crunchy outside. I am coming back for breakfast before I leave tomorrow. The atmosphere is lovely too...

We were actually on our way to another restaurant but it was full. We stumbled across Urban Angel and we were so plsd we did. The staff were lovely and friendly. The restaurant had a lovely contemporary feel and the food was gorgeous. Not only that it was excellent quality - not sure if it was all organic as I didn't check but guessing as the brown sauce was organic they are very thoughtful about their supplies. So, if you're in Edinburgh give it a go. You won't be disappointed.

Despite being cramped, the restaurant has a very personal feel so we felt like we had privacy despite being within inches of the group next to our table.

Place is very nice and close to center. We have had there an excellent service and perfect breakfast.

I can officially say that their brownie is the best I've eaten in Edinburgh... wow so unbelievably moist & chewy!
