Ive literally just got the food and ate it n this place deserves a review I had curry mutton rice n peas n fried chicken the meat fell off the bone and flavour was flawless this person can cook and I’ll definately be a regular absolute yum

So it was kinda hard to find a yard food shop in Leicester.... bad reviews rah rah rah.... but I found this little gem. I would have photos for you but the food was too peng and I nyamed the whole ting b4 I could take a snap 😂 Ackee n salt fish was full of flavour, wicked plantin, and her dumplins were soft and on point 👉🏽 The brown stew chicken gravy was 10 10, and the chicken was fall off the bone tender to taste 😋 Oh yh, good pricing, and the large was actually hench like me, so I was very happy... As a Jamaican man, I 100% recommend this authentic Caribbean takeaway 👌🏽

I ordered food at 19:22 I got a text message saying sorry your order’s delayed we’re doing everything we can to make sure it arrives as soon as possible. I got that text message at 20:12 and I never got any other updates after that message. I’ll never order from this place again

Food was absolutely gorgeous. Had mutton, stewed chicken, dumplings, salt fish etc. Meat was beautiful, fell off the bone. Still nice and hot. Will be back - frequently!

Loved the curry chicken and oxtail and appreciated good amounts in both the regular and large sized portions. Fried chicken that was ordered was not as enjoyable - dry and burnt. Along with fried dumplings and other sides ordered, the majority of the order was good.

delicious food forgot my plantain but all good otherwise

only problem was just a little bit too much oil it was all around the edge of bowl and had to soak it up before I could eat it. but not normally like that. just to be aware.

I’ve never ordered from here before so I thought I’d get a bit of everything I like. The curried mutton and rice and pea was really nice and a good amount of meat (i got large) the beef Pattie was really nice tasted home made. The fried chicken was good, the Dumplin was one of the best I’ve ever had fluffy and crispy perfect combo. The plantain was perfectly cooked the only thing I didn’t really enjoy that much was the mac n cheese but that’s just self preference overall it’s great food would absolutely order again well done to the chefs at urban roots ✌🏽

Best Caribbean food place in Leicester

First time ordering and not a good experience. I ordered the curry mutton, rice and peas, half the bowl rice as expected, the other half bone. I called to question and the girl who answered said she'd send some more meat but didn't know what time, only to turn around and say the manager said no, the menu doesn't say its "not boneless" and this is the portion. This terrible boney portion. Perhaps it should say on the menu, you pay £11 for bones and ok food. I've had better, but the taste was quite good overall. The chicken stew was bland, I had to add seasoning, the jerk chicken with 2 dumplings was tasty but again, mostly bone and a very small piece. My daughter loves dumplings but didn't like these, my son did, he'll eat anything. I thought they were fine, and the festival was tasty. The salad was a mistake, take the plantain, which made the chicken stew taste better. Overall, not a good experience for a first time customer. And now a never again customer. Delivery was on time and the gentleman delivering was friendly. Don't waste your money.

First time ordering from these guys customer service was good the lady on the phone was helpful and polite delivery driver was polite food was a little late by about 20 minutes but that being said the food came piping hot the portions were amazing plenty of meat n rice quality of the meat was amazing and it taated amazing let me tell you it was delicious i think it was the best Jamaican food I've tasted In leicester mate it was well worth the 20 minute lateness I can't explain enough how nice this food was URBAN ROOTS TAKE MY MONEY !!!
