Urban Ground in Eastbourne

Had a lovely first experience at urban ground today! Lovely staff, extra friendly and helpful! Beautiful food and drinks. And a wonderful atmosphere.

( Bolton road!) Perfect spot for breakfast or lunch, staff were super kind, considerate and attentive and are very good with requests for food like taking thing out of meals to accommodate ( if you don’t like tomato’s don’t fret 🤭) super refreshing drinks and good food that doesn’t make you feel icky after! Perfect vibe from staff to make the cafe feel enjoyable

We stopped by this lovely little find whilst shopping, staff were very friendly and the cakes and food looked amazing! We ordered a mocha and a latte and both were really nice, I had the walnut and banana loaf and it was really soft and fluffy in texture. We would happily return to this cafe!

Good coffee and good space inside unfortunately compromised by cacophonous noise. We have the cafe sound system and then the kitchen sound system blaring out, on top of this is the human noise. Too noisy!!

We came in on bank holiday Monday for a coffee to have in. They were fairly busy but must have been short of staff as we had to wait a good 20 minutes for our drink which was very nice when it eventually arrived.

Delicious coffees: smooth, tasty and full flavoured. Lovely croissants. Friendly staff. Like the minimalist decor but a little too much grey creates a dreary look. Probably wouldn’t have come were it not for the excellent reviews. Maybe some red chairs or table tops to compliment the lighting cables?

My boyfriend and I have come here a few times and we think it's lovely! It has a very comfortable atmosphere and the drinks are nice!

We called in here for a light lunch and coffee for the first time. I won't visiting the usual chains again. The coffee is of exceptional quality and the food on offer is much better than the big coffee shop chains.

Nice small cafe with good quality coffee. I’m usually fussy about coffee and I really loved theirs. Small selection of bites but interesting choices, not the usual boring panini and toast you get at cafes. My only reservation is the dairy free milk selection, they don’t serve coconut milk which is disappointing.

We are staying in Eastbourne on a little holiday. We called for coffee today this morning at the Urban ground. Coffee was great ,I had a Portuguese tart with mine my boyfriend had a Millionaire caramel shortcake slice. It was even warm enough today to sit outside.

Good coffee served and reasonable selection of sweet treats. Went for oat biscuit with coconut. Friendly and efficient service.

Went in there today as the reviews are good, have to agree with another review on here however to say it’s drastically overpriced ! £3 for a plain scone, and £2.75 for the smallest Portuguese custard tart I’ve ever seen ! I walked back out.

Coffee here is nice and there is a good lunch offering. Really nice sweet treats and cakes too and prices are reasonable and service was friendly and efficient.

Recommended by our hotel concierge as it was raining and tennis starting later. Fabulous coffee shop. Breakfast looked amazing but we had already eaten so couldn't try. Very good service and proper coffee!

Estaba decepcionado. Este café había sido recomendado. Las porciones de pastel eran vergonzosamente minúsculas y costaban más de 3. Mi pastel de café y nueces estaba seco y poco apetitoso.Un joven camarero carismático y de cabello rubio que entraba y salía de las mesas del patio compensaba con creces al tipo detrás del mostrador que, en mi opinión, necesita aprender a sonreír y relacionarse con sus clientes. Todos los lugares de hospitalidad tienen éxito o fracasan en función de su compromiso con la atención al cliente y la interacción con extraños que pueden, con un poco de cariño, convertirse en clientes habituales.Estoy bastante seguro de que no volveré pronto.

Por lo general, ir al Café Nero, pero el sábado se inundó, así que encontré este lugar increíble a la vuelta de la esquina. Excelente café y croissant. Lo mejor que he tenido durante años, en serio. El americano era magnífico, croissant fresco y crujiente. Personal muy eficiente y seguro covid. Definitivamente un lugar habitual para mí ahora.

We (2 adults plus 3 year old) had some time to spare in Eastbourne and were looking for an independent coffee shop. super friendly staff, nice environment, excellent coffee and variety of homemade cakes. Very happy would recommend.

We stopped for a mid-morning coffee in Urban Ground, just off Terminus Road. Friendly staff, table service and excellent coffee. A range of light snacks is also available.

Nos detuvimos aquí para tomar un bocadillo para llevar de camino a la estación de tren. El personal fue muy amable y servicial: nuestro tren llegó en 15 minutos e hicieron los sándwiches muy rápido. Y estaban deliciosos. ¡Gracias! ! ! Sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que estemos en Eastbourne.

Regularmente visitamos esta cafetería. Sin embargo, en un viaje reciente ordenó tostadas de café y masa madre. El café llegó bastante rápido, pero después de 25 minutos no hay signos de tostadas. Fui al mostrador y le pregunté dónde estaba y le dijeron que probablemente no pagó por él y dónde estaba sentado. Respondí que pagué y dije cuánto, luego tuve que esperar hasta que todo se verificara en la caja registradora. El servidor luego se disculpó. This is a hidden gem here in the heart of Eastbourne. The food is always superb as is the service. It caters for all diets and also does vegan cuisine

Urban Ground is a welcome change from the many chains around. The main thing that sets it apart is its chirpy and friendly staff. Enjoyed a delicious smashed avocado on sourdough and coffee. The selection of cakes (with gf options) looked great too! Loads of space and chilled out vibe. Wish there was somewhere like this where I lived.

This place is fine but it is difficult to distinguish from many other coffee shops. The seats are comfortable but I could find only free newspapers provided. The toasted tea cake was large but quite ordinary whilst the coffee tasted too bitter for me. The atmosphere inside is not special or relaxing although the staff are polite and friendly. There is plenty of choice for coffee in Eastbourne.

Unexpectedly stopped off during a shopping trip and usually it’s tricky to please everyone, almost impossible. Everything we ate was perfect, we had a range of sarnies, cakes and hot and cold drinks, even the iced coffee was as good as I’ve had. Everything was fairly priced too.

I am a regular visitor here and have always enjoyed their coffee. They offer a good range of snacks from breakfast to lunch. Well worth a visit.

Friendly staff, excellent range of coffees alwith alternative dairy free options. We came here for lunch as the food always looks to be fresh and of a high quality,we weren't disappointed! We mistakenly ordered a Granary option for my son who has a Sesame seed allergy and they replaced it immediately and waived the fee for a replacement.Not many coffee shops put customers first, but Urban Ground certainly do. We will be back!

Seems like the sort of place Mum’s with toddlers would meet. Quite a chilled out vibe and all those kale drinks and smashed avocado type snacks. I got served by Millie and she was fabulous. Friendly and chatty with all the customers. Seats outside and tables could do with being more comfortable and inviting.

Good quality coffee for an independent shop, service was impeccable, although only fault it being a tad expensive. However will be going back frequently as love it!

We stopped here for a drink, mid morning whilst milling around the town. The service was really efficient and the food and drinks were good. It's not the cheapest place, but the proximity to town makes it an ideal stop.

There is a nice menu here with a good variety. The coffee was nice and so was the flapjacks and brownies however they were overpriced at nearly £3, the service was ok and a nice spot for lunch.

This establishment thinks their products are exceptional and charge high prices. I agree with other reviewers, there are so many good coffee/sandwich places around, that there is no need to pay these prices, £3 for smallish cappuccino is not really on.

I made the mistake of ordering a piece of vegan and gluten free cake because it looked good. It was the worst cake I've ever eaten. In fact I only managed half of it. I feel sorry for anyone who has to eat something like that for dietary purposes.

This coffee oasis lies just off the main shopping thoroughfare. They do cakes and sandwiches but we came for a coffee. Their filter was delicious, very light, delicate and citrusy and I regretted adding milk before tasting it.

We are regular visitors and like mothing more than to go on a Sunday for coffee and sour dough toast. Sadly on the last two occasions sour dough has not been the same. What has happened to the delicious scrummy seeded bread? Nice friendly staff and all food looks tempting though.

A lovely shop with a chilled atmosphere inside. speciality coffee was promised and it did not disappoint! I had a soya milk latte, not only did it come at the perfect temperature but it looked absolutely stunning. A beautiful pattern on the top, creamy milk and the coffee tasted fantastic. The barista took the time to chat to me about where their coffee comes from and it's origins as it is a seasonal blend. I fount this fascinating and made my experience all the more enjoyable. They had some fantastic cakes on offer too but didn't try them this time. Overall I am utterly impressed by the standard of the coffee and will definitely be returning!

Had the pleasure of visiting this independent coffee house with my wife this last Saturday. The coffee was very nice. We both also had a slice of raspberry and coconut sandwich cake. Very sinful but equally delicious. Would recommend instead of always going to the ‘chains’ .

Met for coffee with a friend. Had excellent service, the coffee was delicious and had lovely cakes and teacakes too. Would definitely recommend this place over any other coffee shop in Eastbourne. It is very busy and sometimes getting a table is a little annoying, however it is worth wait. They also do a loyalty card! Excellent place to meet friends!

Staff were friendly and polite. There wasn't anything on offer for vegans so our friend had to go without a cake-y item but we had salted caramel brownies and they were amazing. Really really gooey and fudgy.

Met with friends last week for a coffee, was gobsmacked by the price of the coffee, £3.00!!!! When it arrived (small cup) it was mainly all froth, bitter and not much coffee. Needless to say won't be going back, would advice the owner to take a trip to Hastings Old Town. Lots of amazing coffee shops, not at inflated London prices.

Good quality coffee and unusual choice of homemade cakes/pastries. We had the Afghan Biscuit - delicious! Nice busy vibe, smaller style tables and offer take away. Will come again.

Popped into Urban Ground this morning for breakfast. We had savoury muffins and a bacon ciabatta roll with lattes and cappuccino. Great tasting food, really smooth coffees and fantastic service. Highly recommended and on our list to visit again soon 😎

Set in the heart of Eastbourne town, apparently there are now three Urban Ground- perhaps a lot of coffee drinkers on the east coast! The café descafeinado is surprisingly good, taken black. The Tea cakes are good too, toasted. The staff are young, pleasant and extremely professional.

Visited the newly opened cafe recently and was disappointed, despite not ordering iced coffee that is what we received, having worked as a barista in the past there is one golden rule one cannot be found guilty of (barista, guilty, see what I did there) not getting the frothy milk piping hot, despite being busy one must persevere, in my summing up, the drink was cold, we won't go back. We were in somewhat of a hurry therefore didn't have time to complain, however we shouldn't need to, should we?

I had time to leave my bags with my two buddies at the station and rush here for a much needed flat white coffee after nearly a week without one when walking along the South Downs Way.

Not only can you enjoy amazing food and outstanding coffee here but they also have another coffee shop in South Street and a third in the local art gallery... without a doubt the best coffee shops in town

I am so impressed with the menu that Urban Ground has to offer, I am gluten free and they do the most wonderful cakes. The Mocha with almond milk is to die for!

My husband and myself went to this cafe for a change from the ones inside the centre and we were not disappointed. It was a decent coffee, reasonably priced and most of all the coffee didn't come in something that looks like a giant soup dish! If we have something to eat next time I will leave another honest review.

What can I say? Probably the best coffee shop in Eastbourne. Amazing coffee. Strong, but not bitter. Reminded me of the good aspects of a Turkish coffee without the negatives. The food was really delicious. The staff were helpful and friendly. Went back again and again.

Good quality coffee, polite efficient service. Good choice of sandwich type meals, some of them even healthy. Many cakes... not healthy but treat yourself. Love the pastrami Lebanese flat bread . Fair prices for good quality nosh.

Visited with my partner and toddler. Really enjoyed our visit. The three cheese melt was delicious and good value, my partner had a ham, cheese and tomato toastie which was also great. Good decaf coffee. Only one toilet. Staff very busy, perhaps the odd "I'll be with you in a minute" would be better than leaving customers waiting but overall recommended.

Fantastic coffee. Friendly service. Good quality food. A friend who visits insists that the water glasses served with coffee could do with a 'bleach' as they sometimes have the aroma of 'unwashed dishwasher'. But apart from that - a pleasurably great place to eat or drink with lovely contemporary decor.

Popped in today for a quick coffee and cake before doing some shopping. I haven't been here for a couple of years and it's still as lovely as I remember. Friendly, helpful staff and a relaxed atmosphere.

We went to this place due to the diet friendly adverts. This nice little coffee shop advertises healthy modern foods in a gentrified setting. However when we placed our order we were told to pay for one sandwich twice as we asked for some extra avocado this we were told added £6.00 to the meal. I was fine paying the extra amount until I ate my food which was essentially mayonnaise in bread. I'm sure the place is normally very friendly and accommodating but I found this to be incredibly rude and terrible service.
