Urban Chai in Cambridge

Jaspreet served us. Was greeted us with a lovely smile . She was very helpfull . Enviorment was awesome . I cannot find this sort of indian street food in cambridge anywhere. Amazing authentic taste. Staff is very well trained and humble.

Went yesterday late and food was delicious. Samosa Chaat gave sensory explosions with each bite and the paneer wrap was tasty too! All washed down with a strongly Cardamom infused Chai. Mister behind the till was kind, attentive and full of ideas. Team in the back doing great to produce fresh produce all day. Thanks guys! 🤠

It's just excellent place. Variety of original Indian street foods, my favourite are Parathas, delicious, fresh, quality ingredients, aromatic spices... And of course Chai, not to sweet not to spicy, just perfect! Its a family business and there so kind and friendly... Eating here is a heart warming experience. Love it!

The methi parathas were horrible I had to put it in the dustbin straight away will never buy anything from there I would like my money back I am going to ring and complain

food was good, the overall experience left much to be desired .The staff member who took our order was quite arrogant, which detracted from what could have been a more enjoyable dining experience. It's a shame because the food itself was tasty, but the service issues really impacted my visit.Additionally, the wait time was extremely long, which was frustrating. Despite the quality of the food, the poor service and long wait times mean I don’t prefer going again. I hope they can make improvements, but for now, I wouldn’t recommend it.

i ordered a loaded fries and bubble tea it took 18 mins to come out the kitchen when the store is already empty. The waiter literally said it will be ready in 5-6 mins

Best place for chai and desi food

For me, the Karak chai is the best in Cambridge, the Parathas are made fresh to order and you can taste the difference.

Friendly staff and quick service. Aloo paratha was a hit as well as the karak chai. Would also recommend the Vada pav with chips.

Have been here quite a few times and has been a good experience every time. The staff is wonderful, happy to serve and converse with customers. I like their kadak chai, gur wali chai and masala fries. Had a strawberry milkshake once which was good too. The meat served is halal so that helps. They also keep Parle-G biscuit packets that you can buy. Reminds me of India.

This is very lovely place for having food specially parathas and karak chai even I tried chicken curry with rice that’s coming in the new menu… it’s good in taste as home cooked food. I will highly recommend this place and will come back definitely as the staff service is very nice and friendly nature……!

I am extremely disappointed with the service and don't plan on returning. I've been dining here for nearly two years and have always loved the food. However, lately, there have been significant issues with the staff. The person cooking also handles the till without changing gloves. I observed the cook, who also managed payments, wipe sweat off her face with the same gloves she wore the entire time.

Went for a quick chai and some cold drinks. Chai was served instantly, but a bubble tea and cold coffee shouldn’t be taking 20mins. If I knew that beforehand I would have gone elsewhere. If I’m in the area again, I would definitely give them another chance no doubt.

It is strange writing a review for this place - wait is terrible, food is great. I ordered food 30 minutes before coming and still had to wait another 1 hour at the shop! This has happened many times before. The food is excellent though. Nonetheless, you really feel like your time is wasted by them

Growing up with Panjabi food, I didn't appreciate it enough until I left home. The chole poori at this place were close to my grandma's, almost perfect. Masala chips also tasty

Never order chole poori from this place. It is not even close to what they show in the picture. I just ordered and had to throw all the food. There was no gravy or chole in the curry, it was just water. Looked like that had few pieces of chole as leftover and 2 litres of water was added on it. There was no salt at all in the curry, it was just water. Poori were not cooked at all, I mean not at all. They were so thick and there was raw smelly dough taste that was coming. When I felt the poori from my hand there was all dough which was not cooked. 8 quids for water and uncooked dough. They do great parathas but chole poori is something they should remove from their menu, I am so dissatisfied and disappointed.. friday dinner went pathetic. Plus the order was delivered late

Urban Chai's service was disappointing, and the Pani puri and Chat with aloo is like 🤢and desperate Improvement is needed in both service quality and hygiene standards. However I like the Chicken Shwarma and Paneer parata.

The tea was fantastic. Fully loaded shwarma was too good. The only issue is the seating place but the food is definitely amazing.

Wonderfull place to eat authentic desi indian foods from parathas to shawarma! Truly delicious and amazing dishes with the actual indian spice. Really enjoy the food here and I'd recommend anyone who wants indian food with indian spice level. Great service from the indian girl at the desk!

A good place to start your day with. The parathas are fabulous and the masala tea is on point. The chole puri wasn't that great as compared to the parathas and samosa chaat but overall this is a great breakfast place. Would definitely recommend and will visit again when in Cambridge!

Restaurant Called to inform it will take 1 hr. However after waiting an hour, it still did not come for another 45 mins. Had to wait for 2 hrs in total.

Extremely unhappy with the services. It is delayed more than an hour. We have been waiting for a long time and there is no update.

No bubble tea, despite it being on the menu and advertised outside the shop. A waste of a walk from the leisure park in search of bubble tea.

I would give no stars for my order but 2 stars for the Karak Chai that saved my morning which was the only good part of my order! Very dissatisfied with the service- firstly the website states delivery in 50 minutes but got the delivery only after 2 hrs- the delivery person says he went to a high street elsewhere in Cambridge ( what’s the point in providing a delivery address with postcode- we are not in 1980’s where you ask directions through strangers walking on the road). Second - onion paratha - there was just onion and atta( no spice or even salt). A complete bland paratha. Third - the sausage - so salty. Fourth- sautéed potatoes and presumed tofu- so much of oil in it. So unhappy - wasted so much time on poor quality food.

the delivery service was not good. food was not like it showed in the pictured. it was watery and taste less. puri were rubbery. Don't recommend it.

A waste of time and money! I've never had such a bad experience ordering food. I got takeaway through Deliveroo last night and it was very disappointing. It took almost 2 hours to arrive despite my calling the restaurant. When it did arrive it was at most lukewarm, and the chaat was soggy. The paratas were very greasy and seemed like frozen ones that were not cooked correctly. I've had this food before from other places and I know what it's meant to be like! What were you doing for 2 hours? Please contact me for a refund ASAP.

Horrible experience !! It took 45min for getting an egg roll & chai and they don't even care that. They was staff there and when i enquired why it's taking time, they just smiled and went. Food wasn't that good as well, too expensive and not worth it.

UrbanChai is a gem! My daughter absolutely adores their bubble tea, and I'm hooked on their karak tea. The staff here are incredibly friendly and always make our visits extra special by being so kind to my little one. Highly recommend for delicious drinks and wonderful service!

I had ordered Samosa chaat and Desi chai. The samosa chaat was really better than the ones I have had in India. The crisp of the samosa, the green and the tamarind chutney was so on point. A must try place!!

This place is amazing! I took my young kids for lunch and we ended up ordering more and more food it was so good. My mother-in-law is Punjabi and prides herself on her paratha but they are honestly better here (something I can never tell her!) - fluffy, light, fresh, perfectly spiced, delicious. We had vegan breakfasts (curries and roti), curried scrambled eggs, various paratha including the open loaded chicken tikka one which was amazing, samosas and chai. The mooli paratha was particularly good, really light and fresh. Lots of vegan options too. The staff were also really kind and patient. We'll definitely be back for more!

It gets very busy during dinner time so there was a bit of a wait, but that's how you know they're good! I definitely recommend Urban Chai.

It was worst experience I had at any Indian restaurant. We ordered Bombay Street food and it was not good at all. We Insisted to add some ingredients on the top to make the dish eatable but the employe on the till refuse to do so .

Came for a desi brunch here and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty, soft, flavourful the parathas were! We first ordered loaded fries and one mooli paratha and an omelette. Once the first paratha arrived we ordered a Gobi paratha then aloo paratha they were THAT good. None of the frozen stuff you get at other places. The omelette was spicy just how we asked for it to be. We ordered the saffron chai and karak chai. The saffron chai did lack flavour and could be improved however the karak chai was delicious. The loaded chips were average and needed more sauce, but the star of the show has to be the parathas ALL of them. There is very limited seating inside too. Prices are very reasonable here.

Not the first having their food,I love this place. This time, I got it delivered. Such a quick delivery and everything was so well prepared(you can tell all ingredients were good quality) and it was delivered in good quality packaging. I'm impressed by their service late at night. Thank you for helping with our late night craving for unique flavours. So far, I have tried aalo chat, samosa chaat, gol gappy, paneer tikka wrap/roll, aalo paratha,gobi paratha, cheese paratha,mooli paratha, halwa chana puri, omlette with plain paratha, pav bhaji(also that with samosa), karak chai and desi chai, all were satisfying.

Urban chai has lot of Indian street food ,Snacks and Indian Chai ,which is rare to find in any Resturants here in UK. Their parathas are good and come in many flavours like Aloo, Gobi , Methi , paneer and few others. It’s good for families who want to eat different varieties of healthy , hot and tasty food with reasonable price .

It’s really simple and nice food. Personally I liked karak chai with either parathas or nachos bhel.

One chai takes them 10-15mins to make 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️
