De Luca Cucina & Bar in Cambridge

Disappointed with the food. Went for Valentine’s Day and it felt like the food had been mass produced without care and due attention. Portion sizes were fair to big, food was rather flavourless. Specifically, the calamari was not cut into fine strips and just massive chunks and the risotto was over cooked and soggy. I asked for a box to go to take half the tiramisu home and it never appeared. Very expensive also.

Had a lovely and very fun night celebrating a friend's birthday to some great piano tunes! The piano man is an amazing entertainer 👏🏼💃🏼🎉

We stumbled upon this restaurant while on a city break in Cambridge and had the most delicious started of burrata, artichokes and tapenade as well as freshly made pasta of the day. Jorge, our waiter was lovely.

What a gem! This was some of the best Italian I’ve had. Recommended the fresh bread and bolognese.

Works Christmas lunch for 43 people. Food and service were excellent. We had the restaurant to ourselves so that in its self was special. Very accommodating to our needs. Got the thumbs up from my colleagues

The recommended Da Luca by work friends for our Christmas dinner didn’t match the expectations for me. This isn’t unusual when fixed menus for so many means quality and therefore value for money lost. A shared buffet was compulsory for a two or three course meal. I went for three courses and a carafe of wine that I shared. The shared buffet was we all agreed mean per each table of six. My Duck on a butternut squash with a cranberry sauce and few green bits was warm and nothing great. Dessert ice cream with coffee poured the best part. Total bill put it in the high end and not justified especially when I then this weekend afterwards enjoyed for less than half the price a better fresher, quality and quantity meal with drinks in Hampstead Village, London.

Very friendly staff, a little slow. Good food but did return my order as it was cold. Buzzy atmosphere. Good choice of drinks, quite a small menu (maybe as Xmas?)

Big congratulations to all De Luca team. We had our Christmas dinner yesterday (4/12/2024) and both the food and the staff were amazing. We have already booked for next year!!! 100% recommended!!!

Very nice food & friendly staff

It was a Saturday night, very busy. I was alone, but I was made as welcome as if I was a table of ten. The food was extremely good to my taste and the service prompt pleasant and helpful. Front of house manager/owner? Was most charming I observed to all customers and staff alike, pulling the strings almost effortlessly and patiently. A better dining experience I have not had in a long time.

Came here for a birthday and was not disappointed. The frutti di mare pasta and calamari were very nice. Slightly disappointed in the bruschetta though. However, the Tiramisu they gave me for my birthday was quite nice even though I don’t like coffee. Overall we had a great time.

Had a fabulous evening at the piano bar.

We decided to try this restaurant out after a recommendation. We booked for 6pm and got a warm welcome from a tall waiter. After that is went downhill. While we were offered water quickly we had to wait until the waiter came to take a food order to get our drinks order in first. We then ordered food. When a member of our party has had linguine frutti di mare at other Italian restaurants it has been made with various fish, not just shellfish. She asked the waiter for it without shellfish to which he asked no fish. She then asked him if there is other fish in it, beside shellfish. He proceeded to list the fish in it and so she ordered seabass instead. 2 minutes later the waiter was back with someone else's linguine frutti di mare and showed it saying something along the lines of see it is like this. The tone and manner were just not needed as something else had been ordered instead! We were never asked if we wanted more drinks although one of us was asked if we didn't like our cocktail as it had been enjoyed rather than necked. Our dinner plates were taken and pudding menus chucked out to us 30 seconds later (the restaurant was not busy). Throughout the meal, from a candle being delivered to items being put on the table or taken off the staff just lent over us or between us with no 'excuse me' etc. Not the friendly, warm vibes a lot of true Italian restaurants have. Safe to say we wouldn't be back as eating out is the whole experience not just the food.

This was probably our favourite meal out of our trip! The food was exceptional - we had arancini for starters and the gnocchi and a seafood risotto for mains! It was a nice setting and we discovered there was also a piano bar!

Best Italian we've had since Italy. A really busy restaurant but the staff were 'on it'. Really good waiting staff, professional and friendly but also discrete. The on view chefs in their small kitchen were a model of concentration and professionalism Super tasting pasta and seafood risotto dishes Good wine.....the pino.... Next time we know we are coming to Cambridge this is the first booking I will make. Extra thanks to Paul(owner?) for being a super professional 'mein host' all evening

A horrible experience. The restaurant was deafeningly noisy on a Saturday evening, even after the music was turned down; as someone with hearing loss in one ear I could hardly make out a word all evening. The food was mediocre — either oversalted (tagliatelle with ragu) or undersalted (linguine frutti di mare). Service slow, though this was understandable as the place was crammed. The only high spots were the olives in the antipasti, plump and juicy, and the wines. The waiter did slop half a glass of Nero D'Avolo down my wife's shirt, but what remained was delicious. Pecorino also good. For that money (£274 for four) we could have bought a single ticket to Manchester on Virgin trains and it would have been nearly as much fun.

Decent Italian food , but a bit on the expensive side

Recently, we had the opportunity to visit DeLuca restaurant. Although we had already eaten dinner, we fancied an evening coffee and dessert. The restaurant was pleasant, the dessert was delicious, and the coffee was excellent, but the service left much to be desired. If I had an empty restaurant like they did that evening, I’d be thrilled to have customers, even if just for coffee and dessert. Instead, the waiter made a point of telling us before taking our order that this was a restaurant, not a coffee shop. Good luck with that kind of attitude toward customers

I don't know how I lived so long in Cambridge without discovering the piano bar here! It's so, so good. I kind of don't want to tell you about it because I don't want it to be sold out and then I can't go. Amazing music and such a fun sing-along atmosphere - not to be missed! Book in advance but the prices are super reasonable. Fabulous night out in Cambridge.

For a special birthday weekend we were treated to lunch here. The greeting was excellent and the service throughout was great. 9 of us shared starters, ate main courses including, pizza, risotto, lasagne, sea bass and tortellini. All were very tasty and devoured as best as possible. None of the pizzas were eaten fully as they were too large. When we spoke to two strangers/staff at a local hotel, they both recommended this restaurant for lunch. We were all very impressed.

I love this place so my partner booked a table for 2 for my birthday. Unfortunately last night due to poor communication between a waiter and the kitchen I was served chilli which I have an intolerance too, of which we had made that very clear on ordering . I did eat a small amount of my meal before I released, obviously we complained and a different main was offered but it really put me off having anything else. Lucky I wasn't sick so it didn't spoil my whole evening but I was left with a tummy ache later. Unfortunately we probably won't go back again....I was lucky and so were the restaurant staff, if I had an allergy it may not have been the same outcome. Such a shame, I hate writing bad reviews but on this occasion, I think I am justified.

Booked last min tickets for last night in the upstairs piano bar, and we had a blast 💃🥳. Robin the Piano guy was fantastic. Service at the bar at the start of the night was really slow, but improved by midnight. Recommended booking well in advance as we were lucky there were tickets available. Highly recommend.

Amazing, independent Italian place we found by chance due to the pouring rain. Amazing staff, and even more amazing food, the Ragu was off the charts, definitely give it a visit if you're in town

Amazing service, went here for a birthday meal and the staff were so lovely in helping celebrate! The personal touch with a birthday card plus sparkler was greatly appreciated. The food was brilliant, the king prawn starter was my personal favourite. Will definitely be visiting again

Very expensive for what it was; the burrata was battling with 2 small tomatos and 2 ridiculous slices of zucchini… pasta were tasty but again small portions..

We had the risotto, bruschetta and soup with bread and the entire meal was fantastic. Really delicious food and the waitress was lovely. The restaurant also has a great ambiance and it was the perfect place to sit and eat at after a long day of walking around Cambridge. I’d definitely recommend checking it out!!

As always a great experience - food, fun & drink

De Luca is not cheap. But it gave us one of the best italian food experiences we have had outside Italy ( and inside to a large extent). We were in Cambridge for two nights and we ate our evening meal here and nowhere else. It was so good. I cannot recommend a particular dish. We tried a lot and everything was wonderful. The service was also perfect. Just visut and then experience it Äää

What a great meal and atmosphere here. It was my husband's birthday and we decided to try this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We had lovely starters of mussels and squid and for mains tried the Seabass. We then finished off with Cheesecake, Tiramisu and of course some limonchello.

Non capisco le recensioni negative, Evidentemente saper mangiare e capire la qualità del prodotto e del cucinato non è da tutti, eppure mentre mangi e assapori i piatti dovrebbe essere semplice e facile capire la qualità. Complimenti . Riprenotiamo per domani

What a delicious meal! I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I found the Squid starter especially delicious and would say that the service was nothing short of exceptional. The waiter was charming, warm, professional and polite and was quick to give great guidance and recommendations.

We had a very tasty seafood dish of freshly cooked linguine. The bread we had to start was freshly baked and delicious. The accompanying vegetables were excellent too. The Pinot Grigio wine was some of the best I have ever had. The service was speedy, helpful and efficient.

We booked the cocktail making for my sisters Hen party, it was brilliant! Lots of fun, good atmosphere, plenty of alcohol! Nice private room in the piano bar. Just what we wanted, thank you to Byron & the other lady that looked after us, they were excellent & joined in with the fun & laughter! Highly recommended!

Came to see James at the Piano Bar this evening and was not disappointed! Such a great musician and the way he worked with the audience for sing-alongs, recommendations, & jokes was just ace. Cocktails were lovely, too! Nothing to fault and looking forward to coming again to enjoy the others who play here :)

Went to De Luca’s to celebrate our anniversary, it was certainly a draw hearing that their pastas are all made fresh. Upon arrival we were greeted straight away and seated. The restaurant was busy, and had a great vibe, drinks order was taken shortly after and the cocktail menu didn’t disappoint. Starters we shared the bread and Squid, have to say must be the best squid starter I’ve had ever. We both ordered fresh pasta dishes, one from the main menu and one from the specials. They were both fantastic and highly recommended. We finished off by sharing a cheesecake, which has set the standard for Cheesecakes from now on. So light and the compote/coulis it came with was a perfect match. All in all De Luca’s get a huge thumbs up and massive recommendation.

Best Italian food we have had outside of Italy. The starters were amazing (love the fresh bread and broccoli soup). The mains were even better, especially the homemade pasta. The deserts were divine. My small child loved the pizza. The best part is the prices are very reasonable. Everyone at our table had a starter, main, and dessert and it cost the same amount as a chain restaurant. So do your taste-buds a favor, give this place a try.

Went today had lasagne with my partner, food was so salty had to remind them to bring the salad. Wasn’t impressed with the service so only left a small tip but as we walked out the waiter was overheard discussing it I just felt the food wasn’t worth what we paid we have had some nice meals in Cambridge just a bit disappointed with this one.

If you want authentic Italian De Luca’s is the place. Great food (especially the prawn starter which was REALLY tasty), welcoming staff and an overall very enjoyable meal out

Excellent Italian. Good menu, delicious food, friendly service, nice wine. Can highly recommend the mushroom risotto, the sea bass the lemon cheesecake.

Lovely menu, unfussy warm and relaxed atmosphere with attentive service. Busy but didn’t feel rushed. A great place to catch up with family. We really enjoyed the vegetarian anti pasti sharing dish and then I had a nice pizza, but watched my dad have one of the pasta dishes and had serious food envy!

Can recommend the daily special of meatballs, and the pea and pancetta risotto. Great staff. Good wine list. A very pleasant experience.

This lovely popular independent Italian restaurant managed to squeeze us in on a busy Saturday night. The food was delicious and the staff appropriately attentive. We had a lovely evening and I would highly recommend. Be sure to book though. I think we were lucky as a lot of people without bookings were turned away.

Genuinely good quality fresh Italian food in a friendly setting. I had the bruschetta followed by a risotto. Y partner had the burrata followed by the sea bass. All very fresh, well cooked and nicely presented. Montepulciano very good too

De Lucas is in a great location. Lovely place to eat. Good menu. Nice to be able to see the chefs working. Bread and olives great. Wine wonderful ! Main meal so nice so many to choose from. Meat and Veggies. The girl who served our table so nice. Paul De Luca the owner a really chatty man who knows his stuff. If we had stayed longer we would have gone again. Winner

NEVER THROWN UP AFTER A MEAL FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE! Just threw up so hard there was blood from my throat! The evening of visiting my partner had thrown up I woke up in the middle of the night crying wanting to throw up too but hadn’t. A whole night later i have and its because we both ate at this DISGUSTING restaurant! I dont know if they tampered with our food deliberately or what but i have never had food poisoning from a restaurant before! This place should be shut down!!!!

The “piano bar” required tickets. They were waayyyy over sold and we were jammed into a tiny bar upstairs with too many people. Very little seating. I would not go back unless I planned to get there asap to get a seat. Bar staff were great
