Upstairs At Annas in Conwy

A bit disappointed! Came for afternoon tea with a group of friends. Firstly, it's nice to see the place renovated, it was dated for a long time and it's a really great spot for baby showers/girly birthdays etc. Super pink, very modern. The lady serving us was very friendly and professional. I noticed as soon as we sat down that nothing was particularly clean. The chairs and menu covers are a suedette material which isn't wipeable, so they've become very grubby (think makeup stains , food smears etc), and I had to brush crumbs off my seat before sitting. The tablecloth too was not clean. When our tea arrived I had to brush old tea leaves from my prosecco glass, and all the cups and teapots were very badly stained, chipped and looked unclean. Most afternoon tea establishments will use a bicarb solution or fizzing tablets to keep on top of this but not here. Most of the afternoon tea itself was fine, but the scones were an inch thick, black on the bottom and crumbled to pieces when cut in half, had to eat mine with a fork - very dry. They do use real clotted cream though so points for that. After we finished we sat for a long time (well over an hour) chatting, but we were not approached to be offered more drinks. It was nice that they didn't rush us so they clearly didn't need the table back so not sure why nobody spoke to us. Otherwise the service had been very good. All in all I wouldn't consider this place a higher class spot, everything needs a deep clean and it's not sanitary, or very nice, to serve drinks in chipped and dirty drinkware. It's the quality of the scones that matter most in an afternoon tea (in my opinion) and this fell a million miles from a good standard. I've had much better afternoon tea in the area and I am unlikely to return. The staff were very pleasant but could be more attentive with drinks.

Very lovely to look at the when it come down to it the taste was definitely not there. Seems your paying the high price for the look of things more than the quality and taste. The scones we had were older than they should be as they just crumbled and they are served cold 🤦‍♂️ putting jam and cream was a nightmare to put on. Quite disappointed to say the least.

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon today at Upstairs at Anna’s. Absolutely love that there’s the option of a ‘Savoury Afternoon Tea’ which was delicious! The interior is stunning, there was a lovely atmosphere, and staff were really friendly. I would definitely recommend.

My wife and I went here for brunch. The food was average, there's much better locally like the Olive Grove in Deganwy. Unfortunately we were treated to someone setting up a speaker system around where we were eating. We could have been seated away from this but for some reason the staff decided to put us in the work zone (we even pre booked and the majority of the other seats were empty). A lot of hussle around our table from staff going to and from the bar. Walls and carpet didn't look very clean. We couldn't wait to get out, won't be going back either.

Everything was exceptional. this was our first visit and we will definitely call again. Thank you all absolutely wonderful.

Went for pre-Christmas drinks and afternoon tea with friends. Had the Champagne afternoon tea and it was lovely. Lots of little cakes and mini sandwiches, with a few savouries as well. Service was lovely and there’s a lovely atmosphere in there. It feels very special in there and it’s perfect for special occasions.

We went for bottomless brunch for my birthday/ Christmas drinks. I wasn't impressed with the menu, very limited, burger came and it was literally a burger on it own, pudding menu was also very limited. I was drinking sex on the beach cocktails, I had about 6 cocktails, I was stone cold sober leaving and couldn't taste any alcohol in the cocktail, just orange juice! I think for £37.50 it is alot of money. We were sat on the table having laughs as you do, there was an old couple on the table having afternoon tea, giving us dirty looks for enjoying ourselves.

Best Xmas lunch i've had in years. Very tasty and enough of it. Top notch. Great service and reasonably priced.

I was so disappointed with our experience, a special baby shower event which was an afternoon tea,unfortunately for the price it was quite shocking,the sandwiches had barely any filling and when we requested if we pay for some plain ham ones for a young child this was refused.The waiting on staff were young and inexperienced, and when ordering drinks from the man behind the bar this seemed like too much of an effort for him, he really shouldn't be working in the hospitality industry,manners cost nothing.

Had afternoon tea for a baby shower on Sunday. Sandwiches had barely any filling. Cake, scone, macaroon and small mousse. Very poor quality for £17.80. Very disappointed, won't go again. Staff obviously didn't want to there also.

Lovely lunch in this gorgeous walled town. Haddock and chips for one perfectly cooked, crispy batter. Whitebait with sides of triple cooked chips and home made coleslaw. The chef knows how to prepare and cook fish so that it's crispy perfection. We were served by Billy a knowledgeable member of staff. The decor beautiful. We shall return to Conwy and Anna's to do some Christmas shopping, such lovely individual shops.

Enjoyed lunch in this beautiful walled town today. Haddock and chips for one, whitebait with a side of triple cooked chips and home made coleslaw for one. Finished off with two excellent coffees. The decor is beautiful, the service by Billy spot on, the chef knows his fish nothing flabby there. The wine list perfect.

Had such a lovely afternoon here, the staff were so lovely! Especially Charlotte, she looked after us so well.

What a fabulous find! Anna’s is situated upstairs right in the centre of historic Conwy. We were made to feel very welcome in this busy little restaurant (pre booking essential). We didn’t need to book the afternoon tea in advance just the table. Staff were amazingly attentive in filling our teapot back up and ensuring g all was well with out tea. We had the prosecco afternoon tea and it really was amazing and very filling. The cakes we couldn’t manage were packed up for us to take home. Not everyone was having afternoon tea and their meals looked and smelt delicious. We will definitely return to try other dishes on the menu

We visited upstairs at Anna’s two years ago for a cream tea and we enjoyed it so much that we had to return during our holiday a few weeks ago. Unfortunately our visit this time wasn’t as good. We arrived for 12 which was the earliest sitting for afternoon tea. After our drinks order had been taken we noticed that the cutlery and table cloth were dirty plus there were numerous hairs on the serviettes and table cloth. We mentioned this to the waiter who said we could move tables and he apologised saying that it had been extremely busy the day before??? I’m sorry but no matter how busy you are the day before there’s no excuse for not cleaning properly. We were moved and our afternoon tea arrived, my spoon for my tea was again dirty and even though I had requested no mayo on my sandwiches due to intolerances when prebooking online and again mentioning it to the member of staff on arrival I still ended up with a egg mayo sandwich on my tray. Really disappointed with our visit, this was somewhere we were excited to return to on our holiday but unfortunately the cleanliness let it down.

This place is the cutest, I love love the decore, the food was great, we only had lite bites and chocolate fudge cake which was delcious! we will be back for the afternoon tea! (make sure you visit the bathroom!)

Afternoon tea was adequate although really overpriced. We had one coffee/tea each and then had to try to catch the staff members attention for more, which took ages although it wasn’t busy. One of our party was vegetarian so they just took the meat sandwiches off his, without giving him any extra veggie ones, and still charged him the same price. Thought this was really unfair.

We had a fabulous 60th birthday prosecco afternoon tea here. The waiting on staff were lovely, especially Charlotte who made our special shots with bubbles on top 😆!! We weren't rushed at all and had a fabulous time, I would definitely recommend to anyone. I've been before and it's always lovely 💗 Thankyou! Xx

Went here for afternoon tea ,for my Sister's 60th birthday. The cafe/tearooms are nice enough. Being upstairs , it was a challenge for me. Arthritic hip was VERY painful for days after.

Una tea room deliziosa! Abbiamo ordinato il classico tè pomeridiano accompagnato da sanwich, dolci, crema, marmellata, burro... Buonissimo! La cameriera è stata molto gentile. Bella atmosfera: colori pastello e carta da parati a profusione. Si trova a cinque minuti a piedi dal Castello.

We had really looked forward to coming as we had heard great things about this place. The decor was lovely. We walked upstairs and we gave the name the reservation was under. A young man pointed out to us where our table was. We were’nt shown to our table. We all decided on the high tea which was very nice. There was no check backs by the staff to see if everything was ok? I then got up to ask for the bill. A young man brought over the bill and threw it on the table. Just a pice of paper no plate! The food was great the service was terrible. Unfortunately the waiting on staff are doing an injustice to the kitchen staff. You do not throw a bill on someone’s table. Very very rude.

Gorgeous tea rooms - feels like it would fit in with Made in Chelsea! We had lunch, which was lovely, well priced and filling. The atmosphere is relaxed - not in a hurry - so a great place to relax for an hour and enjoy a slow paced lunch.

Well this was a great little find. My wife and I stopped here to have a cream tea. The place is elegant and cosy. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. I can honestly say the scone here was the best I've ever had. It came to the table warm and soft. Throughly enjoyed the whole experience. The food people were eating on the other tables looked delicious. I would recommend coming here.

Breakfast at this place is a spectacular! Scrambled eggs on dough, as well as fried and pushed eggs on bread, had unique taste and were made just perfect. The pancakes and waffles were absolutely delicious and their sweetness was well balanced. All kinds of coffee and English tea are prepared professionally. The decor of the place is very distinctive, and the bathrooms are striking in their luxury and cheerful colors. The workers in the place were top of class and respect, as well as the atmosphere that was very lovely. I loved the experience in every detail, thanks!

I think it has changed hands since I came with my parents but it was still great for a lunchtime brunch. Was tempted with the cream tea too... but next time!

Such a tranquil oasis in the beautiful town of Conwy. So well looked after by staff, and the food was sooo good. Really lovely Restaurant to go for a meal. Will certainly go again, and recommend it to friends.

Mooi ingericht, maar verder vonden we het wat teleurstellend. De zaak was vrijwel leeg en toch lukte het ze niet om onze gerechten tegelijkertijd te serveren. De sandwich van mijn man kwam later dan mijn pasta. De pasta met zalm beloofde een citroensaus, maar smaakte daar helemaal niet naar. De saus was wel héél vet en de zalm enorm zout. De sla bij de sandwich van mijn man was verlept en de coleslaw lauw. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar helaas.

I really enjoyed but waited 30 minutes although the restaurant wasn't full or even half full. So the service should be better but good stuff and good food and good atmosfer

We had a wonderful afternoon tea today. The food was just wonderful. I completely enjoyed my chicken Caesar salad, my wife had a delicious mushroom soup and our guest had the harebit. Service was excellent. Cheers to our server Lilly and our amazing chef I recall Ralph.

Arrived today, bank holiday Monday, obviously very busy, there was a large group in, so we knew there was going to be a wait, yes we did have to wait but my goodness it was well worth the wait, stunning crisp battered fresh cod, beautiful decor, even though under pressure Charlotte continued to smile and be such a lovely waitress

I had a surprise birthday party here. It was great, we even had a disco, balloons, cake and a buffet. The staff were really good xx

Wow what a find! Had brunch here on Pirate day in Conwy. The place is beautifully decorated. The service was super friendly and the food was superb. I had the American style breakfast with bacon and maple syrup. One of the best meals I have had in ages. The prices were also lower than expected in a town which is so popular with tourists. Would highly recommend!

Lovely setting for breakfast but we were placed on a table in the middle of the room when we wanted a window seat. We were told they were reserved, which is fair enough. We Left around 10.30am and no one had come in during the time we were there and no one sat on any of the window seats, they were just empty the whole time. As we left a walk in came in which asked to sit by the window, he was given the same answer as us. Shame if he sat their for his whole experience on a table in the middle of the room while the tables by the window sat empty like our experience. The music was also too loud for the size for the room.

Had afternoon tea for two.not impressed,sandwiches and sponge cakes were very dry,one sausage roll each which was also dry,tiny chocolate mouse and scones,a few grapes and blueberries scattered on top.not worth the money,very dissapointed,won't be going again.

Visited for brunch during a trip to the castle. As soon as walked in the atmosphere was spot on. Greeted perfectly and sat down. Came in my son ordered pancakes which he loved. I was only intending to have a drink but upon seeing the menu decided to brunch. Had eggs Florentine and both meals were fantastic. Could not recommend upstairs at Anna's enough. We will definitely be back to have dinner here. What a breath of fresh air! Well done guys!

Amazing food, decor and service. The staff were so good with my baby, bringing a Teddy and colouring crayons to keep him quiet as they could see he was slowing kicking off (which I apologise for) Early mothers day treat and we will be back.

I'd heard a lot about the venue and finally got to visit this morning. We had a lovely welcome from the staff and were given a lovely window seat that allowed us to look down on the busy streets of Conwy. I opted for the pot of tea for one and the Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese with Dill. The food was absolutley delicious, the service was of a very high standard and the overall experience was great. Will be returning very soon.

Nice place to eat, good service, good food and not even expensive!

Awful service, booked for 8pm on a Friday. Immediately told food had to be ordered ‘like, now’ as they were closing the kitchen (‘to be rested for Saturday service’). To say we felt like a huge inconvenience for daring to eat there would be putting it lightly! The server was rude throughout, clearly taking a dislike to us. I also had horrific food poisoning after having the duck main. I had shared all other food that day with my husband and children and no one else got poorly, it was undoubtedly from here however when I emailed to let the owner know it was brushed off because they have a 5* food hygiene. Clearly once you’ve got that sticker on the window nothing can ever go wrong.

This place looked lovely from the outside but when we walked in staff saw us and walked straight past and it took ages to just be served. Had it not been a Sunday when alternative places were shut we would have left immediately. We were seated on a table that had not been wiped and had no cloth, unlike any other empty table in the restaurant. It was also next to a fire exit which the staff frequently left open. We tried catching someones attention to move but they saw us and looked away. The food was aesthetically pleasing and adequate tasting, but the service was appalling. It took 30 minutes for them to ask our order even after reminding them. I would not visit again.

Stunningly beautiful place from the entrance all the way through to the bathroom, food was tasty and all the staff were very friendly. An ideal place for afternoon tea and a lot of good options on the menu. However service was a little slow and it was quite cold in the restaurant. It is mid December, put your heating on guys! Generally we had a nice time whilst there and would come again.

Used to really like this place BEFORE the refurb, looks like a wedding venue now, the service was below par if I'm honest and the menu changes are uninspiring.

We had a lovely afternoon at this restaurant. The food was great and the service was great too. Our server, Billy, was very friendly and helpful. My partner had the afternoon tea (Anna's High Tea for One) along with some Salt & Pepper Squid and I had food from the lunch menu (Welsh Rarebit, Deep Fried Halloumi and Chunky Fries). All of it was fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Amazing scones and best Apple Pie I’ve ever tasted ! The only thing was that it was hot that day and all the windows were closed, although it was October ! It would be nice if the place was a bit airy !

On a blustery, drizzly autumn's day, Anna's provided a warm, cosy and picturesque lunch/afternoon tea experience. Starting from the welcoming entrance (look out for the whimsical suspended teacup display) to the gentle pastle-hues of the dining room, the ambience lifted our spirits on a grey day. The menu offered lunch and tea sets from 12 midday, so we settled for a combination of lunch and tea. Soup of the day was pleasant with some sinfully soft bread (forget healthy wholemeal, for once!) while the teasets had very generous servings - the fisherman's tea had large servings of smoked salmon with crispy fried seafood, while the tea for one had sandwiches (cucumber, ploughman's, egg, ham) and a delectable serving of sweet options (scone, clotted cream, berries and chocolate mousse). Service was friendly. It's a small establishment with a small number of staff, so I expect when it gets busy, you may wait a little for food but we were happy to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. I'm sure our experience was coloured by the overall charmingly done decor, but after all, it's the sum of the experience, right?

Slow service, even tho the restaurant was half empty! This made the bottomless brunch pointless as we hardly got any drinks , not worth the money and the food wasnt the best

Beef too rare for me, asked for it to be well.done but still tough. Service was good and friendly.

Wow! I had a great time with my daughter for her 16th birthday. We had high tea and it was abolutely delicious. Even though I am local, I have never been to Anna's, but we are planning on making regular visits because the food and staff were truly great. Thank you for making my daughter's day so special.

Both my husband and I had poached egg, bacon and avocado on toast it was absolutely delicious. There was a good breakfast selection. Best I've seen in Conwy. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We are going back on Friday night for something to eat and live music.

This place is tucked away and really feels like gold dust when it is found. When you look out from the window down at the high street, it feels as though noone knows your there and there's something really special about that. The Decor is out of this world. Absolutely stunning, so pretty. The service was great, a very relaxed vibe. However food really let them down. We opted for afternoon tea for 2 with prosecco. The sandwiches had no butter on, let me just add for paying over £50 for two people there's certain things you'd expect. No butter for scones, very dry homemade cakes, and cheese cakes in shot glasses that tasted like yoghurt. It was a big shame. If people don't leave honest feedback like this then businesses can't grow to the next level. I would like to add I had an espresso martini after the afternoon tea and it was NEXT LEVEL it was incredible, probably the best I've ever had. I will definitely be back again, but will not be having afternoon tea again.
