The food is always nice here. I had a beef roast dinner this time, and it was lovely. I've had lamb here before, and the beef was much better. My friend had sea bass and was disappointed in the portion size, but mine was more than enough. The staff were friendly. It's a dog friendly pub, which I'm happy with, but my friend found the barking annoying.

Lovely atmosphere, recommend if you’re planning on a few drinks. Visited on Mother’s Day and imagine it had been busier earlier but portion sizes were clearly reduced vs examples on Instagram despite the cost remaining the same. Cannot justify paying £18 for a roast 2/3 of the usual size.

The toad is fantastic for a nice meal out. It offers fantastic pub grub at a reasonable cost, a dying art in this expensive age. Though the stairs up do present a disability access issue for somebody with arthritis.

Nice interior, cold atmosphere. Waiting out front for the place to open, you'd think we'd have been welcomed by the staff. All we wanted was a coffee to warm up. Instead a snide comment about what we were wearing and a cold cup of coffee to go. Couldn't drag me back in there. There's comments, and there's courtesy.

We chose The Toad after reading the superb reviews. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment; the food was at best mediocre, lots and lots of vegetables (which sadly were tepid) but the cod fillet we ordered was extremely small for the £19 price tag. We stayed in Bae Colwyn the night before the Conwy Half Marathon and the braised short ribs (falling apart tender) mash and beef fat carrots really set us up. Keep your pasta and porridge, I'm fuelling up in comfort! Good food and nice service. Dog friendly which is a massive bonus! Food came out hot and plentiful. We had the roast dinners, more gravy would be good with the meal but everything was really nice ☺️ the apple pie had lumpy custard which wasn’t too great but tasted nice, all the same. We appreciated that we were moved to a quieter area for the dog. Criticisms would be one of the staff could dress a bit more appropriately; one waitress had clingy leggings on and trainers which I didn’t think was overly appropriate.

We appreciated how welcoming the staff were to our dog and the menu of treats for her too! The pub itself is super cosy and I loved the decor. We were tucked away in a booth which meant we had plenty of room for our family of five but I would have loved to sit by the window if it was just the two of us so we could appreciate the stunning views of Colwyn Bay! Service wasn't perfect. Starters which we asked to share were served without extra plates. Staff also left the entrance doors open all night so it got cold and drafty. This place has some very nice tables with a sea view but it also has at least one table next to the stairs that's just depressing if you're unlucky to get it. I'm grateful to the staff they agreed to move us to another table and if not for the draft it would have been perfect.

It was 50 minutes until the starter come out. Garlic bread with cheese… 50 minutes. Food was nice to be honest but wait time was shocking About 40 minutes later the main came. Haddock and chips, nothing special. Other tables came in after us got there food before us. Was asked if we wanted dessert, I asked how long the wait would be as the wait times were horrific to be told only two chefs on doing everything. We came here for a date night last night. I don't know if it was due to the table we were on (table for 2 facing the wine wall. Adjacent to the window seat) It seemed like we were in a blind spot. Took a while for our order to be taken. When I ordered a pint I had to go up to the bar 15 minutes later. Anyway we were handed cutlery for the steak followed by balsamic vinegar and another vinegar. The balsamic one had some fruit flies in it. I absolutely understand these things are pests and are an absolute nightmare to get rid of, but your servers should definitely keep an eye out for this issue. Moving onto the food. The food was absolutely outstanding best steak I've had for a longtime. When finished we told the waiting on staff that we were popping out for a smoke. On return out plates were there and we still wanted to order pudding. After 30 minutes nothing and we decided to call it a night. Sorry I've left a bad review and I hope you take this positively and ensure that table is not forgotten about.

We stayed for 2 nights in the main house. Very traditional, stately home, with antique furniture, wood panelling. Every member of staff is excellent, super helpful and friendly. Dining room people especially lovely. Food was good, but disappointing to have the same menu on both nights Lost one star as our room was so hot, in February. We turned the radiator off, opened the double glazing, guess that was why there was A/C in the room, we needed it. Also, the bathroom wasn’t that nice, very old bath with awkward shower over Gardens are stunning. If you ask, and they have time, you can go up the 12th century tower for amazing views. We used the spa on both days, nice pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Expensive, but a nice treat.
