We have supported this lovely shop and coffee shop for many years and have previously written praising reviews. The staff are lovely and there is a good choice of food. However, it is no longer 'customer' friendly now that they have a welcoming notice for dogs on the door. It's such a tiny cafe and we're expected to negotiate around dogs on the floor and tails sticking out between tables. (a potentially dangerous hazard!) During our visit, someone came in with a very large dog & walked round various tables, with the dog in very close proximity to them. They then came over to talk to the other table with dogs, while her dog vigorously proceeded to shake itself all over the empty table at the side. We would have refused to sit there but could have innocently done so. It can't be hygienic encouraging animals in such a small area so sadly, we'll be looking to eat/drink elsewhere now.

I took my mum here today as a Mother’s Day gift for afternoon tea with prosecco. We had the loveliest time and I cannot recommend this place enough! The food was absolutely delicious, so fresh and well presented and our dietary needs were considered. The staff were so kind, welcoming and attentive and the cafe is beautiful and so clean and well presented. Definitely would recommend for the afternoon tea and we will be making this a regular visiting spot for lunch from now on! Thankyou again for making our Mother’s Day tea so special.

I like to support small local businesses if possible, rather than chain cafes, but I'm afraid I won't be going back to this one. I ordered a pot of tea and the creamy mushrooms on toast from the specials' board. Not only was there only one piece of toast, but the food was cold, so I had to return it for reheating. I was horrified when I got to the counter to find that the bill was £8.85. The tea was £1.90, making that very small quantity of food a whopping £6.95! - I didn't check the price before ordering and assumed it would be around the £4 mark. On the plus side, the staff were very friendly, but that's not enough to tempt me back, I'm afraid.

Went to Uppercase for a late lunch with my sister and we were both very happy with it. The cafe is small but cosy, and it's nice how it is part of the alphabet shop. The food is reasonably priced with a panini being £6.50, a cake slice being £3.50, and drinks being a couple of pounds. We didn't have to wait long for our food and it was delicious. Only down side was our millionaires shortbread: the caramel was extremely hard and more like toffee. However, apart from that it was lovely and the other cake we purchased was divine! Would definitely recommend Uppercase for tea and cake, or a full lunch!

Nothing is too much trouble - Zara, ever the professional; caring and customer focused, Danni who always greets us with a cheery hello and a lovely smile and the rest of the team, makes it our choice for meeting up and having great food, then a little shop for gifts afterwards, Well done everyone - you have the formula just right - keep up the good work :)

What a shame when less than a mile away is a deli with more choice and equally delicious cakes. We tried both by the way.
