Visited this lovely pub on a Sunday afternoon and was thoroughly impressed on the experience. The Union Inn is situated in a lovely secluded village. From an extremely warm welcome from Jamie who was an absolute delight throughout our experience of this lovely pub, making sure we were content the whole time. The food and drinks were fair priced, as you can see from the photos the food was as delicious as it looked. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice friendly bit of pub grub.

Terrible food. I ordered roast beef sandwich which was supposedly meant to come with Monterey Jack cheese and horseradish mayo and toasted but i ended up getting couple slices if the driest beef in bread not toasted and no mayo or cheese. Honestly was choking trying to swallow it. I got overcharged by £8 on my card and when i went back they refunded me with change instead🤣. My Texan ‘Fries’ which was meant to come with beef chilli and cheese ended up coming with just a slab of beans and tomato salsa in the middle with no cheese and the server had to bring me a dish of cheese to put on top and the so called fries were thick chips. Disgusting disgusting food absolutely robbery.

we have just enjoyed a 5 night stay at the Union Inn on a golf break. A big thanks to management (lovely popular couple) and to staff and regulars for making our stay so pleasurable. The 4 rooms are discreetly at the top of the premises with a well designed seperate entrance. Rooms were spacious clean smart and functional and we are still in disbelief at £35 per night including a breakfast offering that would shame a lot of hotels. yes this a a favourable review but 100% genuine and fully deserved. We will be using the Union Inn again and again in the future

I went to the Union Inn in Newton Abbot on 27 November, where I ordered a small cod and chips. It was reasonably busy, as it is on Wednesdays because of market day. Time was getting near for my bus, so they asked me if they could put it in plastic tubs for me to takeaway. They even gave me the cutlery. When I got on the bus and ate it, the taste of the fish is top quality - fresh fish like the freshness of the fish you would smell in any fish market. I will definitely recommend it. Perhaps a little pricey, but we'll worth it.

Wasn't crusty bread but two thick slightly stale slices of bread which I ate cause we were starving. Hubbies curry was ok but nothing special. Beer was like water too. Barman hardly spoke and had no personality. Decided not to moan but just leave and ate elsewhere.

New Year's Day lunchtime (a Sunday). We'd called to reserve a table and it was ready for us on arrival. The previous night (New Years Eve ... a Saturday night) must have been manic there...I could hardly hear the staff member who took my phone call due to the incredible background noise. But by Sunday midday they were all back to normal and no debris or evidence of unconscious revellers :-)Plenty of choice on the menus and boards. We went for the large Sunday Roast. Came up quickly, brought by pleasant and efficient young lady. Cracking meals...nothing to complain about at all. Plenty meat and good selection of fresh veg. Hot plates. Very reasonably priced too. Beautifully cooked and presented. The afters are £1.99 !! I had one and it was perfectly OK.It's a local's pub and is neither posh & sophisticated nor down at heel... it just has a nice friendly balanced atmosphere and we felt perfectly OK. Parking's OK - plenty spaces just opposite and free on Sundays. It looks clean and tidy and is handy for the town if that's what you want. Even the music wasn't too loud... and was decent too. Darts board in evidence, plus pool table and a couple of screens but lots of tables to eat at and a traditional bar to lean on if that's what suits you.Am slightly sorry that we've lived in the area for a long time and never been there before. Will definitely return. Thank you.

We sat at the bar with the locals everyone made us feel very welcome, the young lady behind the bar was very attentive even though she was busy wrapping Cutlery, getting the pub ready for the evening and having to get food ready for the men that play football she made sure we had everything we needed a smile on everyone's face, seemed very popular with the locals. We really appreciated the young lady's service and how pleasant she was. However the only downside was the grumpy barman didn't seem to have time or the effort to serve. The food was really good, fresh vegetables, Nothing overcooked, tender meat, the portion was really generous. All served piping hit and with a smile. The place was full which says a lot for the quality and value of the food. We just managed to squeeze in a spotted dick and custard ! Meal for two with a drink each for just over £20.00. I can see this may become a regular haunt.

I had some relatives stay in the b&b recently not the greatest of experiences to have when you are down to visit! Heating was switched off during the night so they were freezing, window in the room was jammed slightly open which they couldn't shut. This put a dampner on the short break. You walk out in to the bar from upstairs, so just some advice for the locals glaring at strangers when they come down isn't a good look next you see someone you don't know maybe a nice smile instead as that would be far more welcoming...

I always stop for lunch here when I visit Newton Abbot as it does the most brilliant roast dinners. I always have a small roast lamb and it's plenty big enough for me. The pub is busy and has a good vibe, it is also popular with the older generation who know good home cooking when they taste it.

Visited with friends who live locally who recommended the Steak and Kidney Pudding which is one of the Union Inn's specialities. It was truly great.....the only problem was that I got the last helping and my host had to make do with the same meat and a pastry cover. Good beer and pleasant service too. Highly recommended!

Had a lovely lunch there today with lady friends of a certain age! We were very well treated with friendly service. Pub grub excellent at a very reasonable price and they do a very acceptable bottle of rose. Also several tables out the front on the pedestrianised street so we could sit outside in the sun. Would recommend when in Newton Abbot.

A few months ago our daughters 'flew the nest' and Sunday lunch seemed a lot of effort for two......we came across the Union Inn and haven't looked back! The quality of their Sunday lunch is unbeatable. It is all freshly cooked and fantastic value with at least four or five different vegetables. There is also a wide and full menu with a separate 'Specials' board. Newton Abbot's best kept secret!

We live in Newton Abbot and have used this Inn for food on a number of occasions and are always impressed with the quality of the food and the variety on offer. The breakfast menu has a number of options , so if A full English is not your cup of tea ( excuse the pun ) your sure to find something to suit your appetite .The lunch time roast is a firm favourite with us, with good portions and great quality food, we have never been let down when eating here, and look forward to many more visits in the future.

Over the years there has been a very mixed bag of chefs etc here. We took a flier and booked a table because we had a free wine voucher. Wow, it was great. The food was superb and at a reasonable price.

This isn't the first time I have visited the union inn, and everyone time I've left I have been extremely impressed. The roast dinners are so fresh and a wide variety of seasonal vegetables. The most recent time I come in with my wife for breakfast and it was the best I had ever tasted.

Teignmouth has more than its fair share of boozers, really good to see when many pubs are closing down. This is a no-nonsense pub, right on the harbourside (and I mean RIGHT on the harbourside!). Bet it's lovely to sit outside on a sunny day. We were there on a rainy February night, and there was a band just warming up ready to play. Friendly bar staff. Cheap drinks.

Popped in for a drink and Wow! This pub has been very tastefully modernised, stylish but subtle from every aspect. Too much to explain, go se for yourself. There is also a games room and garden. Drinks were reasonably priced.

Wow, what a difference. Our last visit was disappointing, apparently the pub was about to be taken over by new management, and it was all a bit sad. Reading recent encouraging reviews we booked for Sunday lunch, and what a treat. Now I'm a fussy so-and-so when it comes to a roast dinner, and we were not disappointed. The staff are lovely, the meal was well cooked, piping hot and plenty of it. Exactly as it should be. Would heartily recommend.

I rarely write reviews these days but I just had the worst meal I’ve had for a very long time. Vegetables re-heated from the day before and tasteless everything else is not what I was expecting for £19. To make matters worse, the white wine was almost undrinkable.
