However, I was dismayed that the Cheese Ploughman's sandwich that we bought was perhpas the worst example of its kind that I have ever had the misfortune to consume. Great location (very convenient with nice view) but suffers from poorly trained staff. I ordered a turmeric latte and they appear to have dumped in a full spoonful of turmeric powder, so it was powdery with un-dissolved spice, and the smell and flavour of turmeric powder was overwhelming. It was absolutely undrinkable, almost gag-inducing. Gaak!

I used to be a regular visitor to the Festival Hall and it’s cafe pre pandemic and went fo a coffee at this cafe yesterday. I was really disappointed in the attitude- I decided to have one of the special offer coffee with a pastry deals which ended at midday. When I asked for it about 12.13 I was told that “the deal had finished” as it was past 12. The manager was rude and blunt and when I pointed out that the notices as still up for it after 12 she said it had “finished” I found this really rude and unhelpful. Please be kinder to your customers in this era when we are probably facing a recession soon and people have been struggling.

We met friends here for drinks and it seems a lovely place ticked away inside an intriguing location. There is a small children's play area, art on the walls, friendly and efficient table service - plus a good menu of drinks and food. We only tried the drinks, but they seem to do a nice cup of tea, though I'd advise anyone to ask for individual tea pots because you don't seem to get two cups each out of the 'pots for two'. It seems a great place for families and anyone visiting the Guild of Craftsmen, but my only complaint was that it was rather noisy for any conversation.Overall it was very pleasant and somewhere I'd like to try again, if only to see what the food is like, but I imagine in the summer it gets far too busy!

This used to be a good place to eat while at the guild. Now however I find they just aren't so good at all. Quality produce I'm sure, but for my taste too many "veggie" type salads on plate. Also when having a pork & apple burger my husband found the bread just disintegrated, I'm sure a good quality bread, but no matter how good the bread it cannot hold the burger without falling to bits. Also, the prices are quite expensive, for what they last charged us for 2 (very small) bottles of coke, £2.25 each, a sandwich and the burger option was somewhere around £25. For just £10 more we each had a roast dinner and dessert & 2 cokes,

Slow service but when the food eventually came ( it wasn't busy ) it was really good and imaginative , I had the roasted veg with hummus and a sweet chilli sauce . Which was why it was such a shock for the espresso coffee to be so foul ; I live in France and have spent a lot of time in Italy so I do know the variations of espesso but this was weird , in fact it was so bad that we wondered if it was some sort of cleaning fluid for the machine. It was the smallest espesso I've ever seen , at a guess 20-30 ml , it was luke warm and nasty , we complained and got another but it was just the same, we were told rather patronisingly that "some people don't realise how strong this type of coffee is " . What a disappointment . My advice , eat there by all means but avoid ordering an espesso

Terrace Cafe, Bovey Tracey is the 'eating' part of the Devon Guild Of Craftsmen showroom in Bovey Tracey. The upstairs cafe is a light and airy place, lively without being raucous. There is an outside terrace area for summer use.At lunch they offer a range of on-site prepared mains using interesting ingredients eg crab tart, etc etc, as well as thick cut sandwiches, cakes, tray bakes and the like. Our favoured selection, as partaken of this past weekend, is their 'soupwich' - a hearty bowl of soup, sweet potato and carrot most recently, with a thick-cut sandwich, in this case a very generously filled sharp cheddar cheese. This put us on well for a wander around Bovey T itself. We use this place regularly when looking for a light lunch out.

Both of our soups, and a tea and coffee came to £13, which I think is reasonable, I would defiantly return. It did get busy over the lunch period so I would go early (we arrived at 12.30) to make sure you get a seat.

Theoretically the smartest place in the town for a relaxing drink and snack. Above the well known Devon Guild of Craftsmen with airy and moderately tasteful decor this is nonetheless a disappointing experience. Service isn't great, the food is very pricey and not that unusual or tasty. Tea shops and healthy snack places are popping up all over and this one isn't amongst the best. Add that to the increasingly commercial and not so friendly or helpful gallery/shop downstairs and you begin to feel that the Devon Guild is not such an obvious option and needs a good shake up. This used for two or three decades to be a cool venue.

The 3 July was their last night in Beefeater as we know it. I’ve been a fan of Beefeater for 50 years from child to adult and its phasing out is rather sad. We came 9 days ago for a birthday meal that was great and tonight I came to say goodbye to staff. Great food and service under conditions which Whitbread PLC should be wincing at. Staff numbers and menu run to minimum only to replace by a poor stable mate in the future, I assume for residents only. Wish them all well and the duty manager on my last two visits was really great - lovely character and hope she goes on to excel in hotel/hospitality/tourism and leisure. A great night for me - in the end of what’s left of Beefeater Grandstand.

We was on a pub tour of the area and passed this on a way to another pub and thought “oh this looks quaint” sometimes the most impromptu pubs are the best and this one certainly is! Four ales were on draft we opted for the salcombe gold Which was excellently kept. I loved the laid back atmosphere with dog friendly sofas. They have a beautiful boxer dog named boots who greets you on arrival who is loving in nature with people and dogs. Very chilled and dog friendly and I will certainly visit again and stay for longer when I’m next in the area. Whatpub online does not hype this place is much as it should.

Teignmouth has more than its fair share of boozers, really good to see when many pubs are closing down. This is a no-nonsense pub, right on the harbourside (and I mean RIGHT on the harbourside!). Bet it's lovely to sit outside on a sunny day. We were there on a rainy February night, and there was a band just warming up ready to play. Friendly bar staff. Cheap drinks.
