It's decent enough. Nicely situated by the seafront. Staff are friendly but service was slow on both occasions I've been. Food is decent but nothing special if I'm being honest. There isn't much finesse. My chicken and chorizo sandwich had a massive fillet of chicken with a bit of salad. Tasty but simple. If you're passing, it's worth a visit but much better places out there.

We used to come here a lot, the view is beautiful as always but the service was terrible we waited 20/30 minutes to be served and once we had ordered food the wait was a another 30 minutes, for granola, a sandwich and a breakfast. When the food came the bacon sandwich wasn’t right so we sent it back it. The rest of us finished our meal, the sandwich still hadn’t arrived. So we asked for a refund and left, they promised to refund our drinks and the sandwich which they didn’t do. They only refunded the bacon sandwich. It was disappointing.

I would highly recommend the restaurant. The food is as fresh and delicious as it is possible to be. It is not just the fish which is amazing . But the vegetables and salad which accompany your dish I recommend the fish pie and the Catch of the Day. Not forgetting to try the Soup of the Day as your starter Definitely worth a visit if you are in the West Country There is a lot of care and passion that goes into the food they serve The whole team should be proud of their restaurant I wish continued success

As a regular visitor to Teignmouth we look for places to have breakfast and this is 1 of my favourite. The full breakfast is really good definitely recommend for a hungry person. **UPDATE** 5 stars I called in on a Sunday and had the roast pork dinner. It was one of the best roast pork dinners I have ever had. The pork was perfectly cooked, with crispy crackling and juicy meat. The seasonal vegetables were also excellent, and the cauliflower cheese was creamy and delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious Sunday roast. Here are some specific things that I liked about the roast pork dinner: The pork was perfectly cooked, with crispy crackling and juicy meat. The seasonal vegetables were well-chosen and cooked to perfection. The cauliflower cheese was creamy and delicious. The portion size was generous. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying Sunday roast.

We eagerly awaited The Captains Table coming to Teignmouth but the experience has been rather disappointing. On four out of five visits so far the service has ranged from bad to appalling. Tonight was the worse with inexperienced (untrained?) staff not knowing the dishes or drinks (didn't know Rioja is a red wine), forgetting orders & drinks, not clearing the table between courses, etc., and nobody seemed to be running front of house. Why keep going back you ask? Well the food is really good and consistently so. If they matched the service to the food it would be a winner. I'm not sure if we'll keep going to experience it.

Disappointed with coffee, only had drinks there, didn't try the food. Coffee arrived without froth, half got spilled into the saucer on the way by a teen waitress who either didn't noticed or didn't care.. we had to ask for a serviette to try and deal with the coffee paddle but should have been offered a replacement drink. Nice location, hoping the service and coffee quality improve soon.

We arrived around 5pm on a Sunday evening and our party of four adults, four children and two dogs were welcomed in ad hoc. We were treated to two tables of four with a stunning view of the sea and the large park on the other side of the building. The waitress was on her toes and got all of our order correct in one go. The drinks took a little while to arrive, I guess I only think about it that way because of the heat and I was thirsty! The food was absolutely top notch; three of the adults had fish and chips, the fourth ordered the pork belly and claimed it to be the best meal he'd eaten in a long while. Mine was delicious. I've eaten fish and chips several times this holiday and this one was the best. Service was great too.

We had called in at Teignmouth to let the kids play on the park there and, after a long day, were ready for food. We chanced the Captains Table as there were 4 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs. They managed to place us all on two tables next to each other which gave us room in-between for the dogs to lay down. The staff were friendly and accommodating and even brought a bowl of water over for the dogs. We didn't have to wait too long for our food to arrive and it was top notch quality and taste! The Captains Table has a nice modern clean feel to it with fantastic sea views. Definitely recommend you try the food here and if we're in the area again I'm sure we'll dine here once more!

I have been here twice for breakfast, I will come again, as hopefully it will improve, but at the moment it has a long way to go and the manager doesn't seem up to it. Visit 1: The lift was not open so we had to carry the pushchair up the steps, which are quite steep. We were showed to our table and ordered tea/coffee, however, they forgot to come back to take our breakfast order so my partner went up to the bar. Bear in mind there were 3 serving staff and 5 occupied tables, it should not have been hard to keep track of! We didn't complain at all, but the manager did come and apologise realising it was his mistake as he seated us and took our drinks order. The food was very nice and once we ordered came promptly. Despite seeing us struggle on the way in, they still hadn't opened the lift when we left and so once again we struggled down the steps while they stood and watched. Visit 2: Turned up at 9.30am on Friday 26 May. It was supposed to open at 9am. The same manager from the first visit told us they were hoping to open at 10am - no sign outside, no update on the google opening times which still say 9am. That is extremely poor and would have taken him 5 minutes. He said they had staff issues. I saw 3 people doing things and the truth is that it is on the manager and he obviously couldn't be bothered to get in early enough to keep the cafe open as it should be. I challenged him about why the lift wasn't opened for customers, he said it was . . . Just strikes me as out of his depth completely and I don't see how they will pull this together during peak season. If I was the owner I would be looking for a competent manager.

My husband and myself had fish. I had seabass salad and he had plaice with crab sauce. Both meals were really tasty and the fish fresh. The only thing I would change was on the seabass salad to have the fish on the potatoes rather then on the salad leaves as they lost their crisp, but it was still a gorgeous meal as the flavour of the raspberries in the salad gave it a delicious flavour.

Incredible food and wonderful service! Allowing for an unexpected walk-in for two, we were welcomed by a smiling and happy staff. After being seated and having our order taken, we were served our starters midway through our first glass of Pinot (perfect timing if I do say so myself!) Locally caught mussels and freshly back ciabatta to kick off and it did not disappoint! For mains, we chose the sharing platter for two; a seafood enthusiasts dream and beautifully presented (just look at the photo!) To top it off, the captains table has the best view of Teignmouth seafront by far and, although the weather got the better of us, it was still quite spectacular! Surprised by all the negative reviews, we booked a table online and went for an evening meal, we had a much better experience than we had expected. There was a large birthday party, which was quite noisy, however after a few minutes sat at our table this soon became background noise. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, services was good, and the food was very good. We had the humus and pitta starter which was very tasty and a great portion size. Followed by the seafood platter, this again was a good size with a good range of fish, nice portion of tasty salad along with a good amount of bread. For desert we had a couple of scoops of ice cream. We would definitely visit again, I guess you have to consider that this is a fairly new establishment, finding its feet in a small seaside town in Devon, where fast service and updating google opening times is not a priority. It’s also not a Michelin Guide restaurant.

What a shame, we were looking forward to the opening of the old 'Beachcomber' (now the captains table). As the cafe is set right on the sea front and basically rebuilt from scratch you would think the interior design would be more in keeping with it's sea side position and not so bland. In fact you could be anywhere. The food well that was ok, there is better in the town also there is worse. We had a sandwich with chicken and chorizo on granary bread, tasted ok but the chorizo was cut a bit too thick better a thinner cut and spread more evenly. Will we be back. Not too sure, but after reading other reviews re' the evening meals, maybe worth a try.

The 3 July was their last night in Beefeater as we know it. I’ve been a fan of Beefeater for 50 years from child to adult and its phasing out is rather sad. We came 9 days ago for a birthday meal that was great and tonight I came to say goodbye to staff. Great food and service under conditions which Whitbread PLC should be wincing at. Staff numbers and menu run to minimum only to replace by a poor stable mate in the future, I assume for residents only. Wish them all well and the duty manager on my last two visits was really great - lovely character and hope she goes on to excel in hotel/hospitality/tourism and leisure. A great night for me - in the end of what’s left of Beefeater Grandstand.

Amazing level of service from one of the ladies at The Ridge Café. I want to thank the member of staff who offered and brought out to the car park, our order to me and my two rescue dogs, one of which, new to us, is very nervous following traumatic times in recent years. It was raining but this lady absolutely wanted to do it, and the dogs were able to meet her - one was enthusiastic and the new boy just looked puzzled, probably wondering who was so kind to bring out this meal to us. It was great, gentle, exposure for ‘new boy’ and a highlight for me too. I’m sorry that I don’t have the lady’s name but she was so good, thank you!

We was on a pub tour of the area and passed this on a way to another pub and thought “oh this looks quaint” sometimes the most impromptu pubs are the best and this one certainly is! Four ales were on draft we opted for the salcombe gold Which was excellently kept. I loved the laid back atmosphere with dog friendly sofas. They have a beautiful boxer dog named boots who greets you on arrival who is loving in nature with people and dogs. Very chilled and dog friendly and I will certainly visit again and stay for longer when I’m next in the area. Whatpub online does not hype this place is much as it should.
