Union Arms in Stockton-on-Tees

Atmosphere was good but drinks are dearest in yarm.

Didn't have food, but had decent drinks and a good atmosphere.

Tried to pop in today at 3pm and it was shut, despite 3 people inside drinking and the opening hours stating they’re open

Super little bar in a great location.

Burger was burnt and beer garden is naff. Also my table was sticky.

Cocktail offers of 2 for £10.95. Reasonably priced drinks. Service was good. We had a issue with one of the drinks and it was sorted quickly and without fuss

We called in for a sunday lunch and unfortunately was potentially the worst we've ever had. The veg was like mush and the beef very fatty. The cutlery wasn't suitable for a child. If this establishment is still serving food under the same management within the next six months its a miracle. Nevertheless the staff were friendly and polite.

Stopped here after visiting the butterfly center in Thornaby 🦋 The food was absolutely perfect however the buns on both burgers were stale. However I still would not knock the place over it as everything else was perfect! The place seemed pretty dead with only us being in at the time. Its a shame because its a lovely little place! I think maybe a few extra food tables could come in handy as it seems more pub based. But still a great little place never the less 🙂

General pub vibes. Nothing out of the ordinary. If you like a bog standard modern-ish pub then go here. Could do with some more craft beers.

Friendly and welcoming with a relaxed charm. Less bustling but busy enough to have a nice atmosphere and Dogs are welcome too. I didn't try the food (if they do it) but a great place for a couple of pints

Had a pleasant evening with friends at the Union Arms. Very warm and friendly staff with a polite and bubbly manager. Pizza was delightful too which was an added bonus. Will definitely be back.

Im ashamed to say that despite being a frequent flyer of Yarm high street I've never been in the union arms until now, and wow what I've been missing out on!Lovely service from the guy behind the bar and a great selection of drinks available. Will definitely be returning here on a weekend with my boyfriends

We use The Union quite a lot and think it is a great pub with excellent bar staff and a good range of beers BUT we were in on Easter Sunday around 6ish and the door staff were preventing people coming in for no other reason than just to be awkward. These people trying to get in were genuinly doing nothing wrong. When i asked one of the doorman why they wouldnt let them in, he just said that they were a bit boisterous walking towards the pub ( they wernt as i know the people involved and they are not troublecausers by any means). Are people not allowed to be seen to be enjoying themselves anymore!! Incidentally, the pub was not very busy either, so that couldnt be used as an excuse.

Only stopped for drinks but very impressed. Looks small from outside but much larger than it seems once inside. Charming old building, tastefully decorated and with comfortable seating. Good range of Real Ales and craft beers, including Brew Dog Punk IPA on tap which is one of my favourites when I’m not driving. Staff were very professional and friendly and the pub had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely return for a meal some time soon.

Nice pint of Bass bitter, which you don't see very often now. Lasses on bar duty were not very engaging or friendly. Also, pub smelt excessively of disinfectant

Had a drink early Friday evening. Friendly atmosphere. Plenty of seat's. They let dogs in which is nice. Not my usual haunt but deffinatly a favourite.

Me and a friend had a fantastic drink to end our night after being at the races all day in York. My friend has trouble communicating so we use sign language when we're in a noisy environment. The union is one of the only pubs that served her at the bar without looking to me as if I was her carer. The manager was absolutely amazing and couldn't have been more welcoming. We will definitely be back!

Disappointed with bar service seamed to be more interested in friends at bar to show interest in customers a bit rowdy as it was quite and we had to sit at far side of pub i was with my cousin who has managed bars and pubs in London and we left for another bar in yarm needs sorting out with strong leadership

Coming from West Yorkshire we (me, Mum and her friend) decided to have a trip out to Yarm for the day and to grab some food also.

We called in for some much and boy we weren’t disappointed . The meals were huge staff & service were to notch will be back again 👍

Very poor. Neither of our first choice dishes were available and when our second choices arrived they were both disappointing. My 'chicken breasts' was, in fact, singular and very dry. The burger was similar to those usually found in the vans outside the Riverside Stadium. Nice gravy apparently. What's more, the barmaid tried to put a slice of lime in my IPA.

Popped in for lunch whilst cycling down to Thirsk. The covered garden at the rear was welcome respite from the heat. Menu was varied, food delicious. If I'm passing again I'll definitely be back

Went in on Wednesday, looked at menu & were then told they weren't serving food. So went to Ketton Ox instead.

Had Sunday dinner there the place was empty and took ages to arrive! When it came everything was obviously cooked from frozen and not fresh other than the Yorkshire pudding and gravy. I asked for more gravy and mint sauce. This took them over 7 minutes to which I was well into my meal and they do not do mint sauce although Lamb was on the menu. Won't be back. Over priced I wouldn't of paid £4 for it but it was £8.95

The Union is a proper pub with good guest beers, a wide selection of gins and a good pub menu. Less footballer's wives than some Yarm pubs :-)

Halloween party was great this year. Laughter from start to finish. Great entertainment All round great weekend.

Well what can I say about the union!! I love coming here and always enjoy every minute I spend here. I now class all the staff as good friends, especially Jessica. They always know how to cheer you up. I will continue to come here for many many more years. Thankyou guys

I would like to make comment on the union pub and great manageress steph and her staff who do such a brilliant job for all there customers always pleasure to drink in a great atmosphere with helpful and happy bar staff food brill ' entertainment always brill bouncers pleasure and undrestanding and don the only barman lucky man to work with all them beautiful and well mannered staff what a credit i will make it my drinking hole till i die hope all who comes here share my opinion and enjoy the union as much as me and my family and friends do pleasure

Called in at teatime we are not local but felt welcome, fairly busy and footie was on the telly. Friendly staff, range of drinks. Do coffee and cake for £2.99 nice coffee and lovely blueberry muffins

Went for a family meal in the union arms. Great selection of burgers, all come served with chips. Wonderful atmosphere and lovely staff. All very friendly and attentive. Jess served us at the bar and served us our meal. Very professional and lovely to talk to. Will definitely be returning

An average burger in a dry bun, with tasteless chips. It filled a hole, but I'd probably eat somewhere else next time. They served a good pint of beer though.

For the price the food was really nice and there was absolutely nothing to complain about. Speed of service was good, bar staff very friendly and overall will definetley come again.Maybe could do with the odd touch up here in there but on the otherside of the pub there are lovely white tables.Definetleyworth a visit.

This is now the best pub in the High Street. I've been drinking in here since before Kenny and Jenny Leysham had it, since Richard the kickboxer had it and various others since.The beer is varied, well kept and not overpriced and a recent upgrade of the bar has brought the local 'faces' down from the Black Bull.I can't comment about the food because I've never eaten there, and its a shame the toilets are upstairs. However with friendly, helpful staff, good beer and the racing on TV it is out on its own at the moment.

Nice place, nice food, but beware they stop serving food at 8 and you need to place your order well before 8 otherwise they refuse to serve you. Staff are pretty abrupt too, may improve after our complaint.

Went to the union arms for drinks and food with my partner. I ordered drinks at the bar and was served by a young woman called Jessica. I have been in previous to today and was also served by Jessica. She makes you feel really welcome and is very friendly and enthusiastic about her job. I asked her what burger she would recommend and she said the mac and cheese burger. I ordered that and my partner ordered a steak burger. When they come they looked lovely. And we're absolutely delicious. I would also definitely recommend the mac and cheese burger. I was also very impressed by the selection of cask ales. Will definitely be back in the future. Jessica is a credit to the company.

Went to the union arms for a couple of drinks on Saturday night. Was served by a lovely lady called Jess. I asked for a gin and tonic and I was offered a whole variety of Gins which was lovely. It was served in a beautiful big glass with Cucumber! Looked fabulous!! Will definitely be returning

Haven't been to union for a while due to a family illness. I was met by Sophie at the bar. She was lovely as always and asked me how I was and that she hadn't seen me in a while. Lovely bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (as recommend by Sophie) and happy to be back.

Out on a night out in Yarm and dropped in here as a bit of a change in venue. Decent pub with good service and a reasonable selection of beers. It was a shame that a few young lads did try and cause some trouble with our group. The staff did nothing or were to busy to be aware of what was happening.

Arrived hoping for a lovely supper.Three real ales on offer. 1 was unavailable as they has sold out, the second ran out as he was pouring it. I was told that he did have another barrel but the only person who could change it was the manager and he was out at an area managers meeting. We then tried to order food. Despite the pub being almost empty we were told that there could be quite a wait as the chef had gone to the shops. What was even more strange is the staff all have certificates on the wall for their customer service skills. Will definitely not be going back.

Just want to take the time to thank Ian and Catherine for a very warm and inviting welcome to there pub. A great vibrant atmosphere, food was excellent and at a very reasonable price. Great upto date modern rustic decor and a large variety of quality ales. We will return for definite.

Really well presented little high street pub with an outside courtyard with character! Came here on bank holiday Monday recently and me and the wife each had a burger. Wagyu burger to die for and although wife isn't a veggie she went for Halloumi burger, had a bite and was delicious! Highly recommended if you're in Yarm and don't fancy one of the many restaurants or delis. Inside very comfortable if weather isn't!

Every time I've visited to get food here there's been a problem. They either have run out of something or don't have something that the menu advertises. They deliver half of the table's food 20 minutes to an hour after everyone else. They can't add or substitute anything. The place looks a lot nicer since the remodel, it has a nice-ish garden outside, and some of the staff are friendly, but I'm not wasting my time here anymore.

I took my father for an early supper in their sunny beer garden (yard) I explained that he was in a wheelchair and they made sure I knew that the loos are upstairs so not suitable for people who can't do stairs. The bar and waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, the food arrived promptly and was freshly cooked. They checked we were happy with the food and were happy to pack up my dad's leftovers in a doggy bag. He had bangers and mash with a side of onion rings and enjoyed his food. I had a halloumi burger with chips and onion rings. My burger was a typical 'posh burger' served in a brioche bun and I particularly approved of the onion rings which were crispy and not at all soggy or greasy. Yarm pubs can be a bit of a headache with a wheelchair as many of the pubs have steps and issues around disabled access. Its a shame that the loo is upstairs in the Union Arms as they were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the food. They made us very welcome.
