Underwood Chinese Takeaway & Fish Chips in Plymouth

I had to throw the complete order away. Ribs were burnt and dry. Crispy chilli chicken was like rubber and was soaked in what tasted like barbecue sauce. The special fried rice was tasteless and the meats tasted metallic, spring rolls had next to nothing in them apart from grease. All in all the worst takeaway I’ve ever had. Save your money and don’t order. Oh and all of it was cold.

Iv just had the very worst service iv ever received it was sausage chips and nuggets and chips after an hour I was told drivers on way 30min later I received stone cold food in soaking wet paper bags as it had been sat in a carrier bag for an hour kids wer starving and wen I rang back he told me he would come collect it and if it was all their replace it 🙃 never ever again abysmal

My order was only warm had to put it in the microwave

Delicious food, arrived later than ordered for but that’s not an issue, when it’s coming across from plympton to Plymstock. Really happy with the food, very tasty and still very hot :)

The website is easy to use. Good communication and delivery was made at the exact time requested. I have been a loyal customer for decades at Underwood Chinese Takeaway and their food never disappoints. Tasty, healthy and good value for money.

sweet and sour pork was dry, sweet and sour sauce was thick and set in the tub, chips pure grease. we won't be back, delivery was delayed after it was said it was delivered when it wasn't then added extra 45mins when questioned

Nearly 2 hours for delivery. Food lukewarm and ok, chips cold and soggy. Used to be nice from here, but last couple orders have shown that this place is not what it was

Always use this Chinese. New to the area and has become a firm favourite. Curry sauce is particularly nice & the salt & pepper chicken is lovely.

Normally really good and we can't fault the food from here. However this evening the family did not enjoy it at all and it was all cold with stale prawn crackers. Hopefully this was just a one off.

Ordered sliced beef and mushrooms. Awful. The beef was like shoe leather. Incredibly hard to chew. Don't bother with that recipe.

Food is really good! Arrived in about an hour and was hot, fresh and tasty. The rice could be a little hotter but I don’t mind so much. My only gripe is they’ve changed the sweet and sour sauce recently and it’s absolutely vile! I’ve had to add three sweeteners every time. It’s like red sour vinegar, I miss the old sauce. Please bring it back else I’ll have to go somewhere else. ☹️

Food was stone cold used this Chinese for years doubt will be ordering again. Don’t like leaving negative reviews but tonight needed 1, times night might have been a blip but after what I spent I would expect the meal to be hot, wasn’t even offered a partial or full refund

second time i have had to call to chase the delivery. Ordered early to avoid delays but still over one and half hours from ordering to delivery

It took the food 2 hours to arrive since we ordered. 45 minutes after initial delivery time. The green curry was almost unbeatable- there were chunks of uncooked flour in the meal and the chicken also tasted like flour. The salt and chilli chicken was cold when it arrived. Really disappointed with this order as we normally love your food. But this was terrible.

Was given sweet and sour even though I asked for bbq

Food was mediocre. Soggy spring rolls and chicken balls were somewhat slimy inside. The chicken in the special rice had a rubbery texture when in the mouth too. All else was fine, may order again but different items.

Never have a bad Chinese from these guys. The special chow mein is delicious and my favourite - loads of flavour, loads of meat, and good size portion. Other items I've had here have also been good. Always arrives hot.

The prawn crackers were stale and inedible, they're usually fine. Everything else was good but not very warm.

Great service, and delivery just maybe provide heat retaining bags for the drivers. As food always needs reheating when it arrives.

Food was early by a large amount of time. Husband was still at work when it arrived. We pre-ordered for a specific time due to this. We only ever order from underwood as it is our favourite Chinese. Although the food quality is great, items were missing from our order.

would give a zero if i could. The chips were as chewy as sweets, and the battered saussage was out right disgusting, tasted what you imaginw caroard as. Fish was also cold. Do NOT come here

Delayed delivery update via just eat. Pushed back an hour. Asked partial refund refused after waiting two hours told they are busy called the restaurant told the same order arrived shocked it was still hot. Great food shocking service especially when being polite and having phone put down by restaurant. Shocking service!

food was awful no favour to the sweet and sour vegetables. veggie chow mein was tasteless. no water chestnuts in the Noddles with beansports and water chestnuts. chips were cold. kids hated it. don't think I'll be ordering again anytime soon.

Main food was okay, nothing special unfortunately. Prawn crackers were shocking.

Will not be ordering again, tried to cancel the order when it got to 30 later than the latest estimate delivery time but they refused despite not fulfilling their delivery obligation

Chicken balls, chips and spring rolls mossing

ordered for 6.45 as we were expecting guests later. it arrived at 5.45. so had to reheat it. The chow mein was greasy. The Hoisin sauce portion was very small. The duck was fatty. Sorry but this meal was just not up to the standards of other takeaways

meal was 70 mins late. My son had to eat something else because he was so hungry so his food went to waste. i had mine but sons food had to be thrown away as he wont eat food the next day

We order from here knowing we are going to get a tasty treat meal and is worth the money. Just need to try and order earlier so not having to wait between 1 - 1.5 hours for delivery

Great food and a lovely, friendly delivery driver who arrived early.

Underwood Chinese are usually very good but this time the soups seemed to be packed full of salt and couldn't finish them. We'll use UW again because most of the time it's all good. Ease off the salt! It was quite strong.

Food wasn’t that warm. I had added in the extra about swapping sweet and sour sauce for curry sauce. However only sweet and sour sauces arrived

£40 spent and no free crackers, food was cold and pretty bland to be honest. Crispy shredded beef had a jerk flavour to it, and too much vinegar. Prices keep going up though. NYE order.

Forgot an item called then soon after driver left they said they would deliver it asap 2 hours later still nothing!!!

Had to ring to find out where our food was which was pre ordered nearly 3hrs in advance, food didn't arrive at specified time. Rang the takeaway Underwood as it was shown delivered on the app and was 15 minutes late, I was told the driver was behind 10 minutes so waited a further 15 minutes then to be told they can't contact the driver. Food eventually arrived the driver did a drop and run, £40+ spent, and the food was stone cold, called the takeaway again and was told they would not do anything about it other than give me 10% off next time, I asked for the food to be resent hot or a full refund, the person got quiet rude on the phone and said they are not doing that and hung up and wouldn't answer to my number again. We salvaged what we could from the cold, soggy food but wasn't really edible after trying to reheat, I will not be using underwood again purely due to the rudness given by who ever was manning the phone this evening. I have now requested a refund through Just Eat and for them to sort this out.

I ordered a chicken curry but the one that arrived has prawns in it. I don’t eat seafood so was disappointing.

The manager/workers here are rude. Estimated arrival was still a 2 hour wait and still they managed to be an hour late, cold and forgetting half of our order. It was soggy and cold. Not only that we found hair in the rice and when we rang up he refused to give any sort of refund, we said a small refund as we appreciate they still made it and they were rude down the phone and refused to even listen to us saying that we are the only ones to ever complain about it being cold and late yet if you look at other reviews, they all say it. He hung up on us after being rude and kept our £50 and now my boyfriend woke up feeling very ill. Don't reccomend at all.

Absolutely vile. Rude workers. Food arrived an hour after it was meant too so waited a total of 3 and a half hours to only be missing the chicken balls and it all came cold. Don't order from here.

Food was ordered at 1710 didn’t arrive until 1940 so over 2 hours late, tried calling restaurant and the phone was disconnected, food was split in the bag when arrived and one wasn’t even what I ordered, won’t be ordering again and struggling to get a refund!

Food still not arrived been 2 hrs. Told multiple times it out for delivery and just eat was a mistaken. Refund refused....and now I have to feed the children something else. Unlikely food will arrive hot as been out for delivery for over 1 hr. Won't be ordering again. Disappointing as not many options around here

Food was lovely- was just a shame that it was stone cold when it arrived. Cannot fault the restaurant or the staff as they were very helpful1 unfortunately the fault lays worth the delivery- the driver going walk about for an hour and by the time our food arrived it was Luke warm/stone cold.

Foods hardly edible.. only good thing was the bbq sauce.. and prawn crackers..
