Under the Stars in Bristol, City of

Visited the restaurant with a partner in the early evening. It is essentially a boat with a very cozy vibe to it. Unfortunately, it was a little chilly to sit on the outside section, but inside there's windows all facing the water where you can see ducks swimming by. The food tasted really good and the staff was welcoming, not only that but the portions of tapas are bigger than others I've visited which is a bonus. Would definitely recommend anyone to visit!

It's a while since I've been here and I must make sure I don't leave it so long again after a fab meal with colleagues from work. The food was excellent, service spot on and a buzzing atmosphere as the place was packed on a Wednesday evening. Loved it!

Cute place, the outside doesn't do it justice. The tapas were a mixture of pub style starters and proper tapas dishes. All done well.

Food was amazing, especially the chicken and pork dishes. I had a Mexican Campfire cocktail and it was really good as well. Th boat was lovely and the service was fast and friendly. 10/10 would recommend.

The atmosphere and service here was really great, we had a lovely time. However, the food was seriously average considering the price which let it down a bit.

Feels like a special experience dining at Under The Stars. It's true tapas so order yourself plenty! We loved the cocktails, especially the Drunken Banana Bread. Star of our tapas was the whole baked sharing camambert!

What a wonderful place to eat loved the setting and the food was outstanding and was not too pricey. Hats off to the chef every thing was amazing I recommend the lamb was tender and tasty. The only thing I would mention is I thought the staff were maybe too engaged with themselves and not overly fully concentrated with the customer. But overall has a lovely experience. Recommend

Great place to have a drink and eat. We just had drinks this time on the upper deck. It was easy evening and Bristol was a kaleidoscope of coliur and looked beautiful from the boat. Recommend coming here such a lovely place.

A lovely meal out in a good location. A great atmosphere on the boat , we sat indoors as it was cold but with warmer weather it will be a nice place for evening food and drinks on the top deck watching boats go by - very convenient if you are watching a show at the hippodrome!

Tapas on a quayside boat. Well presented modest selection of tapas including chorizo in red wine, gambas, potatas bravas, crab. Limited range but quaffable wine selection. Friendly and efficient service.

One of the best restaurant experiences I've had in Bristol! The tapas is all so delicious (honourable mention to the crab croquettes, honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten) staff were all fun and friendly and the cocktails were delicious. And obviously, cool to be literally ON a boat in Bristol harbour! Will defo be returning.

Oh my, the food here was SO good. Loved everything about it. The lamb tagine was a real highlight. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, beautiful decor and great service - this place is a real gem. Will definitely be back.

Food came quite quickly and was fairly nice, mostly. Price is absolutely insane and they add a big tip for themselves on the bill and put it's "optional' in tiny text next to it. The place is kept alive by tourists and hipsters and it really shows. If you think you deserve a 10 pound tip for 40 minutes of very ordinary service move to the USA. Won't be coming back.

Food average but location, ambience and service wonderful.

First visit food was absolutely delicious, we enjoyed the tapas with a huge selection and dessert, staff first class, cozy venue and reasonably priced… will be back.

Took my Husband for a birthday meal. It was lovely. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere The tapas was excellent and we enjoyed trying out the different cocktails.

We had our wedding reception here and couldn't have picked a better place. The staff were excellent, the food was amazing and they had super tasty drinks. They also agreed on some arrangements we needed and it was much easier for us to focus on other things because we trusted them.

We walked in for just drinks and were lucky enough to get a table the atmosphere inside was so cute and warm. The view of the canal in the night with all the shimmering lights was beautiful. The cocktails we got were amazing, there was a real stand out which was the drunken banana bread cocktail - my favourite cocktail I have ever tried. Also just wanted to say thanks so much to the amazing bartender Shona who was absolutely lovely to us and really added alot to our experience!

Magnificent culinary experience in this super atypical restaurant. Tapas are sought after with varied and delicious flavors. The cocktails are not left out! We loved it and we will come back next time we are in Bristol!

Lovely location & atmosphere. Most of the food was fantastic - especially the lamb tagine, patatas bravas. However, for some dishes, the portion sizes are not value for money & leave a lot to be desired. The steak tapas dish at £10 was tiny, giving about 5 bites worth to share. It looked comically small and was cooked rare. Similarly followed by a tiny basque cheesecake at £6.50 which was no wider than a finger. These items on the menu really let the place down & need desperate feedback, as the majority is fantastic. Wanted to love it but couldn't.

Having frequented Under the Stars for many years now, our most recent visit felt like they’ve reached a new tier of excellence. The food was refined and fresh, service friendly and efficient and the drinks list full of gems. The vihno verde was a banger, in particular. Big thanks to Shona who took care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. Can’t wait for next time, thanks gang!

Walked into the bar and ordered 2 cocktails and an ‘optional’ 10% service charge was added to my order. If I am the one walking to the bar and taking my drink to the table, then what service am I receiving? It’s not like the cocktails don’t already have a surcharge for the longer time it takes to make. I was informed the service charge is mentioned on the menu which is fair, but when I’m looking at drinks, I didn’t expect to read the fine print for ‘optional’ charges that are automatically added.

What a wonderful find. First impressions was delightful and welcoming staff and lovely decor. The tapas menu was varied plus pizza options. Ordered a mix of tapas, pizza, wine and cocktails. Service was superb. We had Eliana the lovely young American girl and another lady whose name I sadly missed. Food was delicious , lovely staff and a stunning setting. We will definitely return. Don't understand restaurants fascination with putting chilli in everything..and no Anchovies such a shame was a good dish

We arrived about 45 mins early for our booking - not a problem, we were seated immediately at the bow end of the boat under the canopy! Quite a bit of attentive service at first which dwindled a little as the evening started to get busier but still not a problem. We ordered local Bristol gin and tonics and four dishes from the tapas menu - aged Manchego cheese with olives and red onion marmalade, spiced chicken thigh with preserved lemon, tabbouleh & feta yoghurt, fried Hake with a cucumber/radicchio salad and a plate of harissa & lime broccoli with red pepper ketchup & almonds. Food arrived promptly and every dish was perfectly balanced with crisp flavours of summer, accompanied by a large glass of velvety red wine - it was a faultless meal! Started to get a bit breezy later on so we moved below deck to the bar area to finish our wine, £80 including service charge - good value. It's a great venue for a Summers evening with cool music and a holiday vibe- we would return! Tip- take a cover-up for when the breeze gets up

We used to look forward to meals here, however during our last two summer visits we've been left feeling unwelcome, servers seem disinterested in providing any service. I don't know if we've just been really unlucky twice now but It's a shame, we remember some really lovely people working here in the past, but from our last 2 visits we have no desire to return again. My niece said she had a similar experience. We were a polite as could be yet service was cold and slow, and seems like they don't like you ordering food as its more effort??

Excellent experience! Service at times was a little sporadic but the whole evening was brilliant with delicious food and a lovely atmosphere both up on deck and down below! Would definitely return 😊

We came here for a meal for my sister's pre hen do!! The staff were amazing, the food was sublime and I had a burnt orange margarita that I still can't get over how gorgeous it was to drink!! I had two!! The ambience and atmosphere was so warm and cosy and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!! 7 women were very happy indeed!

Surely the last place in the world not to offer gluten free pizza. The portion sizes are tiny, my friends 'steak' was a few small slices that you couldn't have made a sandwich with. Spanish tortilla was very bland and a really small few slices for the money. Will not return, all our large party were stunned by the appalling value for money.

Attracted by the good reviews, we tried to have tapas at this beautiful place on two different days. The first day, there was a big group downstairs that claimed the full kitchen, the second day there was no kitchen for lack of staff. When asking whether we could drink something, all we could get was cocktails. No sangria. In a tapas bar. Sorry, very disappointed

Just over a year ago I visited with my parents, having remembered how good it was I returned with some friends and we enjoyed pizza, tapas and cocktails. Everything was delicious and all the staff were lovely !! This restaurant has continued to blossom I can’t recommend it enough❤️

Stopped off for a drink - suberp vantage point on the upper deck to see all of the comings and goings around the Watershed. Well stocked bar and even though it was extremely busy on the day of our visit, the staff kept smiling.

Staff are great and super friendly, they really make the restaurant worthwhile. The food isn't great, it's pretty flavour less, we tried a bit of everything, even the pizzas aren't great at all. The food didn't seem freshly made, just heated in a microwave. The atmosphere seems nice in pictures, but honestly the boat is a bit grimy and could use some TLC. Overall not a fantastic culinary experience at all, really disappointing, but at least the staff made for good conversation and company.

Not very good I'm sorry to say. Lovely staff but tapas largely a jar and microwave job. Frozen prawns. Supermarket bread. Can't understand how this got a TA best badge. Avoid.

Don't believe the hype! Beer tasted like flat liner cleaner, wine like it had been open for days, we left after the bruschetta arrived as tostadas from a packet with cheap balsamic glaze.

Emily was out server and she was absolutely fabulous! Great knowledge of everything from the food to the drinks, and was super helpful in recommending some places to check out in Bristol. Food was absolutely exceptional, and the chorizo, halloumi, and patatas bravas were personal favourites!
