Ordered Americano and orange cake. Both tasted good and nice vibe. However there were 2 maggots crawling on the chair next to me. It just made me very uncomfortable and couldn’t wait to finish my drink and leave. Change seating, and notice that on the chair there were leftover food crumbs too. Drink and food is good, but a major health and safety concern when there’s a few maggots on different chairs. Later realised that the maggots were falling down from the ceiling, packed my food and just left.

The food here is OK but unfortunately the service is incredibly bad. I went here for lunch last Thursday. It was a cold, rainy day, and I remembered they did soup here before, so I was hoping to order soup, but it wasn't listed on the menu or the boards in the cafe, so I ordered a bocadillo de tortilla (omelette sandwich) instead. It took ages to get the attention of the guy taking orders, but he finally took my order. I sat down and I watched as he and the kitchen staff just didn't bother to make it at all! They continued standing around chatting! This went on for about twenty minutes. I awkwardly wondered if I should go and ask when my order was coming, but I (foolishly) didn't want to look like an awkward customer. Sitting in the cafe was also very unpleasant because it's in a very old church so the building's cold and it was a cold day, but the staff had left the windows open and the cafe door was left open every time someone came in or out, although other customers kept on getting up to close it. At one point the guy put up a chalk board saying there was soup available. If that had been up when I'd come in, I'd have ordered soup, although heaven knows how long it would take for that to arrive. After twenty minutes another group came in and ordered food and the cafe staff immediately started making it. One of the group ordered a tortilla (omelette slice with no sandwich) and the guy brought it to me, thinking it was my order, but I told him he was wrong. He then finally made me my order, but not before serving the group who had come in a long time after me. It was a really awful and frustrating experience.

We had the pleasure of eating a late lunch here before going to see Giselle at the Hippodrome. An absolute delight! The food is authentic - no anglicised tortilla here! It is made in the traditional Spanish way, with the correct ingredients - absolutely delicious! As was the amazing baked cheesecake. It was raining so we sat inside but there's a lovely outside space for more clement weather. The owner and staff provide a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere too! Highly recommend.

Maybe it should remain a secret? I have no idea what the other reviewers are but my experience is the complete opposite, and I am quite saddened by it as an Spanish person myself. For a Spanish place the portions are too small (croquettes portion and montadito left me shocked), hence the lower price I am assuming. I left the place feeling hungry. The coffee was not the best unfortunately. The food was tasty but as mentioned too small. There were no vibes inside the cafe, there was no music, lacklustre decor (besides the front counter) and a low budget feel (all the tables and chairs were quite knackered and old looking) the ceiling Styrofoam was broken in places. It felt more like a community cafe, which is a real shame. Given that this place is in the centre of Bristol they might want to look at Society Cafe, Burra Cafe, Cake smith, Dareshack as a reference point as to what an inviting and welcoming cafe should feel like. The staff were also stressed and overworked only 1 person in the kitchen and one person serving, people complained they were waiting for the food. Many empty tables were not cleaned with cups and plates all over the place which made the place feel messy. I do not understand if I came in at the wrong time or place? But the experience was not great... I am assuming most people have been to the garden which is lovely but the inside of the cafe does not match. Also there is a door that leads to the church that people keep using which is annoying.... so do not sit next to it if you wanna eat without being disturbed everytime someone goes in and out. The acoustics of the place are not great either, and not having any music playing you are constantly hearing the discussion between the staff or other customers random conversations. Overall, I am quite dissapointed by my experience I was expecting so much more.

This was a delightful discovery. The place is well hidden and was welcoming and cosy on a grim January day. Half the diners were Spanish, presumably seeking a taste of home. The basque cheese cake was an indulgent treat. The chicken serrano and padron peppers (freshly cooked) in ciabatta sandwich was very tasty. The coffee too was good, needing no sugar because it wasn't too bitter or over roasted like chain shop coffees seem to be. And the staff were very friendly. I'll definitely go back to try the tortilla (huge and looking very delicious and homemade) churros (obviously!) and whatever other Spanish delights they serve up.

My partner and I visited COR with two friends on Saturday and we were blown away by the food! Firstly I had a cocktail I forget the name of it now but it had elderflower and basil in it which absolutely delicious! I had the burnt leeks and pigs cheek to start which were incredible and for main I shared the ragu pasta and poussin. The quality of the food in my opinion is some of the best I have had in Bristol and I would put this in my top 3 meals I’ve had out. The restaurant had a lovely cosy atmosphere in the evening and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were late to our meal which was totally our fault but I do feel like a 2 hour time slot for 4 people isn’t quite long enough, however I know this isn’t unique to them! Highly recommend COR and I will 100% be returning!
