Firstly, the space itself is beautifully decorated, v tasteful. Food-wise, the cuttlefish & tartare were absolutely delicious. However, the fried polenta cake with sliced pear and a heap of dressed parsley was confusing as a dish. For £14 for starters & £20-30+ for mains, you expect exceptional food. Sadly, i felt it fell short for the price point. The service was friendly but not particularly attentive (no checkback!), which let the experience down somewhat. Our table of 6 spent nearly £300, which makes it hard to justify returning soon.

I think we were a bit disappointed. Based on Google reviews, we had somewhat elevated expectations. Appreciate the seasonality / local resourcing approach but there was not any poultry in the menu - I assume poultry is not seasonal :) The servers were very nice but it is definitely under-staffed / over-crowded. We were surprised that they only had one card machine. The atmosphere was generally nice but the open kitchen could have been nicer-looking as my partner was facing the dishwasher and ham cutter the whole time. The food was above average but not enough to compansate for the overall experience. Not sure if we can come again.

We will be back to experience the whole thing. After being refused service at 9:55pm and 10:05pm in two different well-known establishments around the corner from Marmo, we gave it a try and were pleasantly surprised and happy that they were so welcoming. We just wanted dessert as we had already been to a Korean BBQ around St Nicholas Market. The other two places lost our custom for no reason. One of them was borderline rude. For both, it was more important to close than to make an extra £50. Easy money! But not Marmo. They were welcoming and happy to have the four of us for dessert and bubbly. It’s what you expect from hospitality in general, but so difficult to come across these days. All the desserts were delicious. The building is amazing and the menu looks so good. We will be back soon to experience it all. And to have some more of that great great customer service!

I really rate this place. The menu is small but interesting. We had steak and pork. Both fabulous. In fact my steak was one of the best I have ever had. Just amazing. Very good service. Friendly and attentive. And no issues with my nut allergy. One small suggestion for improvement- the chairs are uncomfortable and the “sharing” set up might put people off. That said, I would definitely return.

Overall a sub-par experience for a Bib Gourmand rated restaurant, we ordered 8 dishes and a bottle of wine for £200. The asparagus and bread were both really good. Everything else was either poorly executed or lacking inspiration. The cod sauce was over seasoned which was a shame as the fish was really well cooked. The lamb wasn’t rested long enough so still quite tough and accompanied with a fairly uneventful mashed potato. At £28 and £32 per dish I expected more. The desserts also failed to hit the mark with the pana cotta being too gelatinous and the chocolate mousse being light but not rich. Service was okay, small things like leaving the bottle of (white) wine on the table and not storing in a cooler, not offering to taste the wine (2014 / cork), and being in earshot of the waitresses complaining about the business of their shift are all things I wouldn’t expect at a premium priced restaurant.

I had great expectations from their menu when I saw how limited it is, as this implies quality (which it had) and perfection (which it lacked). With the exception of the lamb rump, which was cooked to perfection and super tasty, everything else we tried lacked of that little something that would elevate the dining experience. The anchovies were extremely salty, served in good, but not top olive oil. Equally salty was the cod's roe, could not even balance the saltiness with the unseasoned asparagus. The gnocco fritto is a disappointment, a flavourless piece of fried puff pastry with a couple pieces of salame, would have enjoyed the salame on its own more. The panelle felt very heavy and once again lacked of deep flavour. The dessert menu is also limited. The panna cotta is light and refreshing, a very good finish to an average dinner. The mousse on the other hand is ok but nothing special. The wine list is good and offers some decently priced options. The service is great and probably the only reason I thought of giving them another star to the overall review. However, when I consider the total value for money and the fact that I would not become a regular client, does not allow for more than 3 stars. Maybe a 3.5 would be more appropriate. Overall, I might go again on a random evening for a couple of glasses of wine, but I highly doubt I would order food again.

Starting off, I loved the atmosphere and the decor. The service was tremendous - especially when we flagged our issues with the food - however the night was disappointing. We had the trout main, which was utterly flavourless outside of ‘fish’, and the pork main, which was clearly massively overcooked and devoid of any flavour too. I’m inclined to believe it was just an off night - and again, the service was fantastic - but we were both very excited for this night and it might be the most disappointing meal we’ve had as a couple.

Lovely decor but it was quite draughty by the door. The menu was very limited (which I usually prefer as it suggests a focus on quality over quantity of dishes) but seemed somewhat disjointed and confused. Marmo is a go-to spot for me, so I came in with high hopes. However, reality didn't quite match my expectations. While they boast an extensive wine list with some excellent bottles, the limited options for wine by the glass restrict exploration. While the menu offers familiar food options, there's a noticeable absence of creativity and attention to detail in the execution. The dishes felt rather pedestrian, lacking the nuanced flavors and thoughtful combinations I had hoped for. Overall, it was a a bit letdown considering the restaurant's usual reputation for culinary excellence.

Good, safe food. Everything we ate was cooked very well. Ordered giardiniera, burratta, whipped cod with winter tomato and trout, mussels and celariac puree finished with chocolate mousse. I understand Italian cooking lets the ingredients speak for themselves and everything was presented well and was well cooked. The mussels were soft and the trout was tender, however lacking seasoning. Seaweed butter was lacking oomph and giardiniera was very simple, just celery, onion, pepper and cauliflower. Was the last bib gourmand restaurant to check off the Bristol list and I prefer the likes of root, COR or BOX-E for the more forward thinking dishes and exiting flavours. Perfect and fast service with attentive hosts but won't be rushing back. Totally get why people love coming here though! Tasty wine and the orange vermouth apertivo was delicious.

It's a pretty nice place with delicious food. The only thing I can say is that I didn't like that it's not cozy enough. I mean the place is good, but the wooden chairs are not very comfortable. You don't feel at home there, more like at a cafe or chain coffee shop where you have to eat quickly and leave. It would be wondeful if the furniture was comfortable and cozy. Was expecting good things, but left entirely underwhelmed. There seems to be a lot of excellent reviews but our experience was only average and was tempted to select poor based on value for money. Ingredients all seemed good quality and the menu sounded like the food would be exceptionally tasty, but we found the food bland which is a shame. Tables are crammed in and hard to hear conversation over tables next door. Wine list was extensive and expensive. We opted for a house white at £33, which from taste was no better than a £5 bottle from any supermarket. Felt we paid far too much money for the quality of taste of our food. Plenty of other restaurants in Bristol with much tastier food. Unfortunately, aside from 1 of our desserts being better than average it was a totally underwhelming experience. Staff and service were fine though.

I cannot believe that there are 289 restaurants in Bristol better than Marmo. From a clear explanation of the menu by Martha to a strong dopplo everything here is of the highest quality. We absolutely loved it, pasta , fresh fish, figs all presented, cooked and more importantly enjoyed. Our photos show how the food looks but the other senses of smell and taste were more than entertained. The menu is short, I would describe as ‘tight’ but as the team here produces food of absolute highest standards, there’s no point trying to do more. I am tempted to try the lunch with work colleagues, more people need to experience the best cooking in Bristol, it simply is that good.

The menu is small but full of interesting options; because I did not strongly fancy the main course I focussed on the starter plates which our group liberally shared. We had the bread (good but with outstanding butter), giardiniera (all very good, but especially the fennel), Gnoco Fritto which was a good portion and different, Mozzarella with Vesuvio tomato and fig (really great flavours), Tagliatelle Ragu (one of the best we had tasted for a long while), Trout with cucumber, horseradish and yoghurt (really subtle and impressive). We finished with one of each of the deserts where the chocolate mousse was especially impressive. An excellent restaurant to which I would happily return to.

Most beautiful spot- original architecture complimented with style: Yves Klein blue and an open kitchen, an elegant collection of framed oenophile posters. The food was good- nothing stunning but decent. BUT THE MUSIC- what is the owner thinking of? There could have been the happy chat of the lunch time punters. Instead there was drum and base up loud on a playlist the waiters couldn’t control. The look would fit jazz or bossa nova- or just plain nothing. I was eager to pay and leave- what a pity!

The menu is small, but all the things we tried were delicious. All the dishes were excellently presented, and were light but satisfying. Even after 3 course, you don't leave this restaurant feeling uncomfortably full, just satisfied. Desserts are probably the weakest part of the menu, so best to head somewhere else for that if you've got a very sweet tooth. The wine selection is also good, with a nice mix of varieties and prices. Light and laid back but chic wine bar with light and laid back but chic food. Food was considered and well cooked and presented. We spent around £120 for snack, starter, two mains and a pud including a bottle of rather good wine, and I can see this being a great place for a nice lunch too.

Quiet and relaxed, reassuringly short menu, everything was delicious. Boquerones starter was good, as was fish main. Nice to see the kitchen in action, calming space and the speckled ceramics downstairs looked lovely.

We had a really lovely lunch at Marmo a few weeks back. The quality of the cooking was great, and the price very reasonable, As my partner has a tricky dietary requirement, our waitress took so much effort to make sure his meal was suitable for him. We've been out for quite a few meals in Bristol the last month or so and so far this is the only restaurant we'd like to return to.

My girlfriend and I visited Marmos last night for the 5th time for our 1 year anniversary/late valentine's day. The food was lovely as always and is our favourite spot in Bristol by far. The attention to detail to food is always there. My girlfriend had an issue with her food as her pasta dish was extremely bitter but this was quickly resolved and she received a new dish without any hassle. Excellent service and will definitely be returning!

Went here tonight and had an amazing experience! Service - Waitress was fantastic. She had excellent knowledge of all food and wine and very attentive and friendly. Food - Delicious! Had good veggie options and they paid fantastic attention to the nut allergy of one of our guests, even created a new veggie dish without nuts in! Atmosphere - Lovely decor and atmosphere. We were dressed fancy after a graduation and didn’t feel out of place

The finest chicken shawarma wrap known to man. It’s so good my mate has mentioned it to his partner so many times it’s now consumed their relationship and they’re fully on the rocks.

We had a really good dinner at Souk Kitchen, it surpassed our expectations. We ordered most things on the menu between the 4 of us (I think we just didnt order 2 of the mains) and it was enough, perhaps we were 1 dish too much. Good service. Quite pricey but it was a special occasion.
