Cosy restaurant, Good atmosphere. Menu is done more like a tapas style tasting options so we tried pretty much most dishes on the menu. Well presented and really good fresh quality ingredients.

Overall a sub-par experience for a Bib Gourmand rated restaurant, we ordered 8 dishes and a bottle of wine for £200. The asparagus and bread were both really good. Everything else was either poorly executed or lacking inspiration. The cod sauce was over seasoned which was a shame as the fish was really well cooked. The lamb wasn’t rested long enough so still quite tough and accompanied with a fairly uneventful mashed potato. At £28 and £32 per dish I expected more. The desserts also failed to hit the mark with the pana cotta being too gelatinous and the chocolate mousse being light but not rich. Service was okay, small things like leaving the bottle of (white) wine on the table and not storing in a cooler, not offering to taste the wine (2014 / cork), and being in earshot of the waitresses complaining about the business of their shift are all things I wouldn’t expect at a premium priced restaurant.

I had great expectations from their menu when I saw how limited it is, as this implies quality (which it had) and perfection (which it lacked). With the exception of the lamb rump, which was cooked to perfection and super tasty, everything else we tried lacked of that little something that would elevate the dining experience. The anchovies were extremely salty, served in good, but not top olive oil. Equally salty was the cod's roe, could not even balance the saltiness with the unseasoned asparagus. The gnocco fritto is a disappointment, a flavourless piece of fried puff pastry with a couple pieces of salame, would have enjoyed the salame on its own more. The panelle felt very heavy and once again lacked of deep flavour. The dessert menu is also limited. The panna cotta is light and refreshing, a very good finish to an average dinner. The mousse on the other hand is ok but nothing special. The wine list is good and offers some decently priced options. The service is great and probably the only reason I thought of giving them another star to the overall review. However, when I consider the total value for money and the fact that I would not become a regular client, does not allow for more than 3 stars. Maybe a 3.5 would be more appropriate. Overall, I might go again on a random evening for a couple of glasses of wine, but I highly doubt I would order food again.

Starting off, I loved the atmosphere and the decor. The service was tremendous - especially when we flagged our issues with the food - however the night was disappointing. We had the trout main, which was utterly flavourless outside of ‘fish’, and the pork main, which was clearly massively overcooked and devoid of any flavour too. I’m inclined to believe it was just an off night - and again, the service was fantastic - but we were both very excited for this night and it might be the most disappointing meal we’ve had as a couple.

Lovely decor but it was quite draughty by the door. The menu was very limited (which I usually prefer as it suggests a focus on quality over quantity of dishes) but seemed somewhat disjointed and confused. The food itself was underwhelming and a bit bland. The olive oil to dip bread in was delicious however. Service was okay. Overall disappointed with our experience, especially for the price.

Marmo is a go-to spot for me, so I came in with high hopes. However, reality didn't quite match my expectations. While they boast an extensive wine list with some excellent bottles, the limited options for wine by the glass restrict exploration. While the menu offers familiar food options, there's a noticeable absence of creativity and attention to detail in the execution. The dishes felt rather pedestrian, lacking the nuanced flavors and thoughtful combinations I had hoped for. Overall, it was a a bit letdown considering the restaurant's usual reputation for culinary excellence.

Good, safe food. Everything we ate was cooked very well. Ordered giardiniera, burratta, whipped cod with winter tomato and trout, mussels and celariac puree finished with chocolate mousse. I understand Italian cooking lets the ingredients speak for themselves and everything was presented well and was well cooked. The mussels were soft and the trout was tender, however lacking seasoning. Seaweed butter was lacking oomph and giardiniera was very simple, just celery, onion, pepper and cauliflower. Was the last bib gourmand restaurant to check off the Bristol list and I prefer the likes of root, COR or BOX-E for the more forward thinking dishes and exiting flavours. Perfect and fast service with attentive hosts but won't be rushing back. Totally get why people love coming here though! Tasty wine and the orange vermouth apertivo was delicious.

It's a pretty nice place with delicious food. The only thing I can say is that I didn't like that it's not cozy enough. I mean the place is good, but the wooden chairs are not very comfortable. You don't feel at home there, more like at a cafe or chain coffee shop where you have to eat quickly and leave. It would be wondeful if the furniture was comfortable and cozy. Was expecting good things, but left entirely underwhelmed. There seems to be a lot of excellent reviews but our experience was only average and was tempted to select poor based on value for money. Ingredients all seemed good quality and the menu sounded like the food would be exceptionally tasty, but we found the food bland which is a shame. Tables are crammed in and hard to hear conversation over tables next door. Wine list was extensive and expensive. We opted for a house white at £33, which from taste was no better than a £5 bottle from any supermarket. Felt we paid far too much money for the quality of taste of our food. Plenty of other restaurants in Bristol with much tastier food. Unfortunately, aside from 1 of our desserts being better than average it was a totally underwhelming experience. Staff and service were fine though.

I cannot believe that there are 289 restaurants in Bristol better than Marmo. From a clear explanation of the menu by Martha to a strong dopplo everything here is of the highest quality. We absolutely loved it, pasta , fresh fish, figs all presented, cooked and more importantly enjoyed. Our photos show how the food looks but the other senses of smell and taste were more than entertained. The menu is short, I would describe as ‘tight’ but as the team here produces food of absolute highest standards, there’s no point trying to do more. I am tempted to try the lunch with work colleagues, more people need to experience the best cooking in Bristol, it simply is that good.

I had gone with my family to Marmo for a Saturday night meal and found the overall experience enchanting. The staff are welcoming and give off an ambience of calm enjoyment in their work. The menu is small but full of interesting options; because I did not strongly fancy the main course I focussed on the starter plates which our group liberally shared. We had the bread (good but with outstanding butter), giardiniera (all very good, but especially the fennel), Gnoco Fritto which was a good portion and different, Mozzarella with Vesuvio tomato and fig (really great flavours), Tagliatelle Ragu (one of the best we had tasted for a long while), Trout with cucumber, horseradish and yoghurt (really subtle and impressive). We finished with one of each of the deserts where the chocolate mousse was especially impressive. An excellent restaurant to which I would happily return to.

Here in our order of preference: trout tartare with cubed pickled rhubarb and (probably) agretti (the short menu is short on detail); panelle buried under a heap of fennel salad; gnocchi fritti with PIG 🐷; more pig with shaved lemon and unannounced pickled veg on toast. The last one was a bit too rich and unbalanced, and other people’s pesto pastas looked a bit on the wet side. But there’s clear quality and reasonable prices and portions here!

Have been to Marmo before and had good experience, the food is excellent. However on this occasion on a Friday night, 19:45 table, upmarket and not cheap restaurant one couple were seated with a large dog. I’m particularly dog-anxious - many people are obviously dog lovers and don’t understand this. The couple were seated two tables away from us separated by another couple. The dog immediately went under the other couples table (under their legs) and the owner had to get it out. They clearly were not comfortable about this - I would have left immediately, if it had been me. I raided with the waitress and asked if dogs are welcome as I am anxious. She offered to move us to a further table but did it advises dog friendly on the website. I’ve been through the small website and the Resy site and it mentions dogs nowhere, so not great to be lied to. We would not have booked if we knew we may have to share space on a relaxing Friday night with a dog. Thought out the evening it barks several times. It’s very loud and the owner takes it out several times. I am very happy with service animals but upmarket restaurants are not appropriate environments for dogs and this matter should be made crystal clear on the website and booking form.

Fabulous find here in the centre of Bristol. Very friendly service and you are in the same room as the kitchen and cooks. Italian based cuisine that was absolutely delightful. Yum yum

Ordered steak tartare, olives, two skates, two glasses of wine, a chocolate mousse and quince crumble with milk ice cream with a total cost at around £115. Great value for what you get. The skate was so juicy and tender without its distinctive ammonia taste. The portion was very generous as well. They also update their menu now and then. Will return in the future.

Excellent. In a group of 5 so lucky to be able to just order the whole menu to share everything - and everything was cooked immaculately. Delicious, interesting food with some classic flavour combinations based on good ingredients and some more experimental options which worked well. Natural wine list with staff helpful on recommending based on preferences in non-natural wine world!

I liked the vibe and style but a few things were not quite right. Firstly had the air con blasting in October and it was cold - bizarre. We had a bottle of reisling - not sure about their selection here - it tasted bizarre. Nothing like trad reisling - more like a very sour cidre. And my desert was frankly odd (salty and just not very nice). Other courses were good and cocktails nice but overall a bit disappointing

We dined here with friends as it had been recommended on the website as a stylish place to visit in Bristol. The staff were very pleasant and efficient, but the choice of menu was not great. It could have been more extensive. There were roughly...

I'm struggling to understand what is special about this restaurant, I personally found it uncomfortably cold, loud and with poor seating. The food was expensive, especially when you have to for pay for sides to make a decent meal. The wine was not cheap and...

We had the most wonderful evening here. The place is so beautiful, intimate and elegant, with lovely art all around. The food and the wine were divine! Food beautifully presented and really delicious! The westcombe ricotta + blackberry is really a must!
