We have eaten at Uncle Sam's tonight celebrating my daughter birthday and we have had the best time. Food was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for us, they were absolutely brilliant and such lovely, friendly people especially Bex and Issey! Such beautiful people. Delicious food and reasonable price too 👍 definitely recommend 😁😋 Also adding how fantastic they were with my children ❤️

It's an institution. Have the rib/wing combo for starts and then anything with their signature runny cheese.

Wow, we have just returned from Uncle Sam's and I can honestly say that the whole experience was outstanding, from the customer service to the quality of the food, the portion sizes were fantastic and the quality of the ingredients used was 10 out of 10. the Uncle Sam's special burger was superb and the cheese sauce topping was out of this world, the side dishes we chose were the onion rings and coleslaw and again 10 out of 10, real top quality, the condiment selection of burger relish, ketchup, salsa, and what I would suspect to be homemade mayo, were again outstanding. the meal was so satisfying that we could not manage desserts, we will make up for that next time, lol, many thanks to all the staff, and great efforts keeping one of my childhood favourite places going strong. cheers everyone

I have been going to Uncle Sam’s since I was a child with my parents back in the 80’s I have not been for a number of years because I now live further away and it is around a 50 minute drive. Me and my partner called in the Saturday before Christmas because we had been actually let down by the restaurant that we had booked and we were in Sheffield, They accommodated us and made us feel very welcome and we really enjoyed our food in the relaxed atmosphere. When we were leaving we mentioned about taking our twin boys age “4” which at times can be an handful to a member of staff. She said don’t be daft lots of children come here and they are more than welcome so this Saturday afternoon around 5pm we headed over Myself, My Partner our twin boys and my Daughter age “12” we tried calling beforehand but there was no answer because they were so busy. When we got there the lady accommodated us even though they were fully booked, we had a lovely time the Boys loved the train and the food and atmosphere was lovely. There were quite a few families in at this time and it was very pleasant to see. Nothing was too much trouble so thank you and we will definitely be back again soon. Been going for birthdays for everyone in my family, never fails to disappoint, great food (the cheese sauce is unreal 🤩), traditional American diner atmosphere, a menu that has hardly changed in 50 or so years, honestly the best burger in Sheffield, and super accommodating staff happy to help and really friendly aswell! 10/10 👍👍

A nuestro hijo le encanta el bistec pero es muy particular cómo se cocina esto , el personal se ofreció a freír esto en sartén a su gusto , dijo que era precioso (esto es solo un servicio excepcional) . Todos pedimos diferentes platos principales, pollo, filete, hamburguesa y pizzas todos sabían fantástico Toda la comida era súper caliente y sabroso , porciones increíbles y increíblemente gran relación calidad-precio 4 dinero . A trip down memory lane to overuse an old cliché. A place I frequented during my student days back in the middle ages. What an amazing survival story to be in business after all these years. Burger and chips were...erm... burgerish and chippy. Relish was good. I had the undivided attention of the staff, I was the only person there. Decoration is as before except for the removal of some posters that were offensive - sexploitation of women. Nice enough lunch.

For years n years weve been here for the best burgers ever !!! Nachos to die for and such a fantastic ztmosphere. Still family hands on run with great staff. Train still running ...i get as excited as the grandchildren. Thanks UNKLE SAMS...Long may you continue..

This place is just perfect for single dinners, couples, and families. Food that appeals to everyone, such attentive, nice staff and of course there's the train !

I have been going to Uncle Sam’s since it opening and always enjoyed it with my family for three generations. We booked for Sunday to make sure we had a table but when we arrived there were no customers in the bar and just a handfull in the restaurant which I really thought was unusual . We ordered our meals and the burgers we were served fell short of the usual standard, The burger was very small in a substandard bun it was dry and the filling almost invisible, to fill the plate the fries were put into a separate dish leaving us very disappointed. My wife had a chicken option and enjoyed her meal but the experience was not worth the bill of over £100. I wonder if the business has changed hands since our last visit as it did not meet the standard that we have experienced in the last forty odd years. One very disgruntled customer!! Uncle Sam you can do a lot better than our last visit.

Love Uncle Sams! It's our guilty pleasure, we've been going since we were kids. Extra cheese sauce is a must. Have never had a bad experience, and all the staff are nice and straightforward. Sweets and the train is always a highlight!!

Personal tan amable y servicial que vinimos aquí como una fiesta de 9 para el 12 cumpleaños de nuestro hijo que tiene una alergia a los frutos secos. El personal tan servicial con respecto a esto , cualquier bebida extra que requiera durante su comida llegó muy rápido a la mesa , toda la comida se sirvió caliente y súper delicioso. Realmente no puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficiente, sin duda volveremos. Gracias a todo el personal por ser tan genuinamente amable y servicial.

No nonsense American themed diner. You don't last over 50 years without a reason. The food is good and you get plenty of it. The service is good with very friendly servers and the prices are very reasonable. What more can I say. I'll go back next time I'm in Sheffield.

This place is great. 40 years since my first trip for a school mate’s birthday it remains the tastiest hamburger I’ve had. The cheese sauce remains and wonderful mystery and the person who served us may well have been there the first time I went according to her! Great fun and a fixture every time I head to the UK. Great place, was quite on the evening we visited ( football was on) excellent food very reasonably priced, staff polite and friendly, had a great evening. Would highly recommend a visit of this well established Sheffield eatery - 53 years and going strong!!

1st visit 5 stars. 2nd visit 1 star. Medium steak arrived medium rare..should not drip blood. Fries arrived with 3 bean chilli instead of rice. Assortment of dips left on counter which we managed to retrieve 10 minutes into our meal. Ordered 1 and a half pint of light cider ..served 2 pints. So upset to post this utterly negative review after having had a perfect steak here only weeks before

La calidad de la comida cuando visité hace aproximadamente un mes era muy mala, incluso Maccies daría mejor. La hamburguesa estaba demasiado cocida, todo lo que podía probar era carne carbonizada quemada que era asquerosa, patatas fritas estaban demasiado cocidas y el bollo se sentía barato, se estaba desmoronando. Los precios han subido considerablemente dada la mala calidad de los alimentos. Al mirar a la cocina parecía que la comida se estaba cocinando demasiado rápido debido a un día ocupado, pero eso no significa que la calidad debe sufrir debido a su afán de codicia. Mientras pagaba en la caja, vi que mi coca era de 2 libras. 75 en la factura pero en el menú cuando miré antes era más barato. La camarera dijo que era el menú para niños que es un error fácil de cometer, ya que el "menú para niños" no está tan claro cuando tienes prisa por pedir, ya que está en el menú normal para adultos. La camarera retiró la coca de la cuenta, pero mostró una actitud condescendiente y me puso una cara como un niño inmaduro. El menú infantil debe estar separado para evitar estos errores fáciles de cometer que están diseñados para engañar y hacer tropezar a la gente. Ciertamente NO volveré a este restaurante. ¡Me sorprendería si sobrevive debido a la comida terriblemente mala y los precios inflados!

Excellence isn't a term I use flippantly, however, I feel the meal and service alongside a family friendly atmosphere the term is totally justified. The sharing nachos to start were crisp, fresh and accompanied by chilli, guacamole, salsa and cheese. The Ribs were perfectly cooked and fell off the bone tasting fantastic! The combination platter of chicken and ribs with sides of fries and sauces was perfectly cooked and our daughter informed me it tasted great. Our other meals were both burgers again both were excellent quality. The service was excellent and we felt very welcome, nothing was to much trouble providing colouring options for our children for entertainment. In my opinion the prices are great value for a restaurant and a great experience! Thank you and we look forward to seeing you next time at Uncle Sam's 👍👏👏

Food and service were excellent, reasonably priced definitely will be going again. Highly recommend the pizza, margarita as a base but can add various toppings to make your own.

My grandfaughter was given a free choice of where she would like to go for her 16th birthday. Out of all the places she has been taken to over the years, she chose Uncle Sams. The service, food, staff friendliness and of course the owner Sue were all lovely as usual. We have been visiting here for 40 years and it still excels. If its not broke don't mend it springs to mind.

This was our 1st time and I called to book as we were in the area and wanted to make sure there was availability. The Lady was very helpful and I asked about Parking which depends on the time of day so allow extra time after 6pm can park for free on the main road, Nothing was too much trouble excellent service Great Selection of food and Very Reasonable prices Very good portions and came out Hot No Complaints from our table Only 1 small niggle the very large table behind us was very Vocal but would definitely Visit again when next in the area...

Went for my birthday dinner and everyone was super friendly. Food was so nice too and came out quickly. The lady working was really good with the kids at the table too so we didnt feel like an annoyance when they were a bit unsettled.

I travelled with my son from Somerset to visit our 92 year old Mum/Gran and to celebrate my son’s birthday we decided to go back to one of our favourite all time restaurants. This place is just so special, atmosphere, originality and of course the absolutely delicious food. It is a small kitchen but sitting nearby I could see how slick the staff are working together with the friendly waiting staff to get food out as quickly and deliciously as possible. They obviously have a lot of pride in what they do and want the customer to have a lovely food experience. No wonder this restaurant has survived many, many years while others on Ecclesall Road have failed.

I have been going here for quite a few years now. Excellent food, very quick service, and the food is quick to arrive. The prices are pretty competitive for this sort of place too. We booked in advance. I recommend the dinosaur ribs! Fantastic service by Nicola as always.

We used to come to Uncle Sam’s for kids’ birthday treats for years in the 90s and 00s, and only stopped when they all flew the nest. Today we made a family return trip for our post-Christmas get-together - three of those children with their own families, and granny. It was everything we remembered - friendly personal service (meals ordered by guests’ names were delivered by name - fabulous), and they even put on a special menu item that we requested for old times’ sake. And the train is still running round the room! You don’t go to Uncle Sam’s for fine dining, but you’ll find a more than decent menu that includes a great selection of all-age friendly burgers, burritos, chilli, and hot dogs, and the kind of desserts that make children’s eyes pop out when they arrive (try the banana split, or beg in advance of the off-menu knickerbocker glory). The service is everything you could ask for in a family restaurant - organised, unfussy, and friendly without being gushing.

We love Uncle Sam's, we don't come often but the food is lovely. Staff were attentive and fast when we arrived. As it started to get busier, we couldn't get their attention for more drinks, napkins, etc. An extra pair of hands would've made a massive difference. That said, we enjoyed good food, and the kids loved it 👍

Absolutely loved this place! Great food and lovely staff (however much they're paid, it isn't enough). Had a veggie chili burger, partner had the Baltimore burger. Floats and shakes were on point. Prices bargain for what you get. We will be back!

The lovely staff at Uncle Sam's are fantastic, we'd booked a large table for my husband's birthday and I couldn't get to the venue beforehand to sort any preparations. The team kindly organised a special cake and balloons and unlike many venues they didn't need pre-orders or deposits. We came to celebrate a teenage birthday as a family and this was an evening to remember. I have been before, but no-one else has as it is a 45 minute journey across South Yorkshire to get here. Staff were so friendly, attentive and accommodating. The food was divine, as it always is, and everyone's dishes arrived together. The staff really cannot do enough for you and this is one of the reasons I love Uncle Sam's. Off the back of our visit, members of our party have returned individually and recommended to their friends and other family members, so we are spreading the word - book Uncle Sam's!
