One of the best and most authentic American burger joints I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing, I've been going to Sam's for decades and it never disappoints.

Best cheeseburger in town. The runny cheese sauce is delicious.

We love this place. Everything from the service right through to the food is fantastic. After all these years, it’s still consistently busy which says more than a few words on a review ever will.

Service was terrible, food not served quickly therefore not hot although it tasted fine.

This was our 1st time and I called to book as we were in the area and wanted to make sure there was availability. The Lady was very helpful and I asked about Parking which depends on the time of day so allow extra time after 6pm can park for free on the main road, Nothing was too much trouble excellent service Great Selection of food and Very Reasonable prices Very good portions and came out Hot No Complaints from our table Only 1 small niggle the very large table behind us was very Vocal but would definitely Visit again when next in the area...

Went for my birthday dinner and everyone was super friendly. Food was so nice too and came out quickly. The lady working was really good with the kids at the table too so we didnt feel like an annoyance when they were a bit unsettled.

I travelled with my son from Somerset to visit our 92 year old Mum/Gran and to celebrate my son’s birthday we decided to go back to one of our favourite all time restaurants. This place is just so special, atmosphere, originality and of course the absolutely delicious food. It is a small kitchen but sitting nearby I could see how slick the staff are working together with the friendly waiting staff to get food out as quickly and deliciously as possible. They obviously have a lot of pride in what they do and want the customer to have a lovely food experience. No wonder this restaurant has survived many, many years while others on Ecclesall Road have failed.

We used to come to Uncle Sam’s for kids’ birthday treats for years in the 90s and 00s, and only stopped when they all flew the nest. Today we made a family return trip for our post-Christmas get-together - three of those children with their own families, and granny. It was everything we remembered - friendly personal service (meals ordered by guests’ names were delivered by name - fabulous), and they even put on a special menu item that we requested for old times’ sake. And the train is still running round the room! You don’t go to Uncle Sam’s for fine dining, but you’ll find a more than decent menu that includes a great selection of all-age friendly burgers, burritos, chilli, and hot dogs, and the kind of desserts that make children’s eyes pop out when they arrive (try the banana split, or beg in advance of the off-menu knickerbocker glory). The service is everything you could ask for in a family restaurant - organised, unfussy, and friendly without being gushing.

I have been going here for quite a few years now. Excellent food, very quick service, and the food is quick to arrive. The prices are pretty competitive for this sort of place too. We booked in advance. I recommend the dinosaur ribs! Fantastic service by Nicola as always.

We love Uncle Sam's, we don't come often but the food is lovely. Staff were attentive and fast when we arrived. As it started to get busier, we couldn't get their attention for more drinks, napkins, etc. An extra pair of hands would've made a massive difference. That said, we enjoyed good food, and the kids loved it 👍

Absolutely loved this place! Great food and lovely staff (however much they're paid, it isn't enough). Had a veggie chili burger, partner had the Baltimore burger. Floats and shakes were on point. Prices bargain for what you get. We will be back!

The lovely staff at Uncle Sam's are fantastic, we'd booked a large table for my husband's birthday and I couldn't get to the venue beforehand to sort any preparations. The team kindly organised a special cake and balloons and unlike many venues they didn't need pre-orders or deposits. We came to celebrate a teenage birthday as a family and this was an evening to remember. I have been before, but no-one else has as it is a 45 minute journey across South Yorkshire to get here. Staff were so friendly, attentive and accommodating. The food was divine, as it always is, and everyone's dishes arrived together. The staff really cannot do enough for you and this is one of the reasons I love Uncle Sam's. Off the back of our visit, members of our party have returned individually and recommended to their friends and other family members, so we are spreading the word - book Uncle Sam's! Have always loved Uncle Sam's since I was much younger until now, to celebrate my 51st birthday. Best nachos I've ever had so it's the simple cheese and jalapeno for me. Always friendly staff and simple but always great menu. Nostalgic? Absolutely, but that doesn't stop it from being just great. Their longevity is a testament to their consistent greatness.

Went to Uncle Sams last night with a friend. It was a nostalgic visit and very enjoyable. I first went to this restaurant when it opened in 1971, as my friend did. The decor is still the same. The burgers were excellent and the staff very helpful

What a wonderful evening at Uncle Sam’s! My sister and I took my niece for her 9th birthday and the staff made such a fuss of her, which was hugely appreciated. They really went above and beyond. Popped in for lunch and was greeted to a friendly, warm welcome. They catered for our 4-year-old son with colouring and a storybook. Service was friendly, fast, and efficient, and the food was excellent. Will definitely return.

Visited this evening for the start of my husband's 40th birthday celebrations. I'm not familiar with restaurants in the area so went off Google reviews! He loves American BBQ style food so thought we would give this place a go. The staff were pleasant and efficient but I would not rate this place. I ordered a chicken burger that was grey in colour, so chewy, hard and really watery. My husband didn't finish his food either. I could see he was disappointed but wouldn't say because I had booked it for his birthday! Such a shame.

Been a while since we came here, and it is still as good as the last time. Great atmosphere, great staff, very efficient service. Nice to see they still have the same layout with the train circling round above. This formula has worked for many years, and will continue to do so. We'll be back for sure.

Brilliant place to eat. They were very vegetarian friendly, even to swap out our meal to a vegetarian one. The service was top quality, cheerful and wholesome. The service was very helpful, and they were not wasteful of their food, giving the non-vegetarian option to another lot of customers. The food was magnificent, tasteful, well put together and creative; a lot of variety in the menu, a lot of different tastes in my burger. Will definitely go again.

Highly recommend this restaurant. Great atmosphere, they have a little train track suspended from the ceiling and with a train travelling, keeping the little one entertained without disturbing adults. Received the wrong dish but staff were amazing and quickly replaced with the correct one. Excellent experience!

Tex mex burger was bland but not bad. Definitely order a side of cheese sauce, it’s amazing. Milkshakes were watery, I get that it’s a thing here but I thought I’d get a more American milkshake at an American themed restaurant.

I was disappointed, the food is very basic and notthing looked freshly made, just out of a bag from the freezer. The staff was friendly, however, I had to stop a waitress from taking away my child's plate who was still very clearly eating from it. My husband was also not allowed to finish his meal after telling the waitress that he was still eating. We won't be going back.

Very disappointing. Was expecting authentic American comfort food, but instead got an average burger patty in a basic bread bun with average frozen French fries. Starters were clearly straight out of the freezer and thrown in a fryer. Don’t think anything is homemade. Such a shame, because after reading the reviews we were expecting a really great lunch, but instead we were left feeling a bit ripped off. Staff were friendly, but we weren’t given any menus on arrival. Took around 10 mins for them to be brought to us and then an extra 20 mins to order drinks and food as the waitresses seemed to forget about us.

Just got back from a lovely meal with family and friends and this is definitely one of the best meals out I've had for such a long time! The staff were so friendly, the prices of the food was definitely affordable and the quality was top notch with plenty of options to cater for those with different dietary requirements.
