Me and my son love coming to Chequers. the staff are friendly, especially Paul, Darren and Lauren and always welcome us with a warm smile. The food is great value for money and the drinks are always spot on. The wacky warehouse thats attached is a firm fave of my son’s, too and the staff down there are great as well. We will continue visiting whenever we pass and would highly recommend everyone should do the same!

The staff at the pub are very friendly and the drinks are very reasonably priced compared to other places. Paul is always super friendly and welcoming and the food is always good value. Recommend chequers to anyone who is passing.

Visited the Chequers on one of my annual trips, the food was lovely I tried the katsu banquet, which was so tasty, and Lauren who served me was very efficient and got us anything we needed. Will be back soon!

Even with expectations as low as is possible to be, somehow. . .somehow they manage to overwhelmingly disappoint. The food is usually cheap enough for the terrible quality to not be a problem, but this time, £15 ish for a main and nearly £5 a pint? where not one item was ok? Nope. This "steak" was ordered medium rare, and, it's more of a dog biscuit than steak and compeltley overdone. It's embarrassing for anyone to call themselves a chef and get it this wrong. The "burger", beyond poor, flavourless lump of mush, bread wasn't even bread, the fries were cold, even fried onions were jsut a congealed mess. How do you get fries and fried onions wrong!? It's astonishing how bad it can be. Service sort of friendly but not even the nicest people can make up for the dire state of what they serve.

Expected ambiance awful lasagne. The lasagne was so overcooked it was hard to say if there was any pasta in it. It was just a dish swimming in fat. There was no topping on it. I have had this dish before and it was really nice so I was very disappointed I did give feedback to the waitress.

Sterile, stagnant and crazily priced. Kicked myself for nipping in. Probably not the staff's fault more the chain the pub belongs to.

Wouldn't recommend, dirty glass with lipstick still on obviously not washed properly, ordered a "sizzler" meal and it certainly didn't sizzle. The toilets looked like they hadn't been cleaned i years. Won't be returning

I want to be honest and I will Had Sunday dinner here today and was welcomed by the amazing Ashleigh. The rest of the staff were brilliant too. Had to send my coffee back cos it was luke warm and Ashleigh replaced it without hesitation. Ok now to our main meal. It came out but was barely warm,undercooked Yorkshires We didn't want to say anything as to look that we were just moaning cronies,so we just ate it and said nothing As I said great staff but the food as let you down big time It's almost like the plates had been sat a while before bringing them out to us.

What a fantastic experience at Chequers! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal or catch-up with friends. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The food was delicious—we opted for the "2 Pub Classics" offer, and it was outstanding value for money. Generous portions, hearty flavors, and everything tasted freshly prepared. You can really tell quality is a priority here. Between the cozy vibe, top-notch service, and tasty dishes, Chequers hits all the right notes. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and a welcoming spot. Five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lukewarm microwaved food, rubbery, chewy chicken. Scandalously expensive. I had a burger and one drink. My wife had tandoori chicken and one drink. One fries and one portion of onion rings (3 whole rings of onion, 3!) and it cost £47. One fella on the next table loudly telling his mother-in-law about her own daughters nipple sag. The staff however, were lovely and attentive, so I feel sorry for them as their service is ultimately in vain. Frighteningly reminiscent of a typical “cheap and cheerful” pub, with none of the cheap. Or cheerful. Awful place, 1/10

Unfortunately a disappointing experience. Pub was quite busy. When food arrived it was tepid, part of it was missing and the salad was well past its best and dirty. This was addressed very promptly by the serving staff who were very apologetic and arranged for replacement, and these were warm when served but some of the meat was overcooked and tough.

Went for lunch, with my friend. We was greeted with a lovely smiling face, the gent showed us to our table. I went to the bar to order drinks and food, I ordered hot chocolate for my friends, as it was a very cold day, I had a cup of tea. As I am gluten and dairy intolerant. Darren offered me oat milk for my tea, so glad of dairy free options. For lunch My friend ordered steak pie, mashed potatoes and mushy peas. I ordered 10oz rump steak, salad and a few chips separately. The lovely waitress brought our drinks over, my friend was impressed as she had whipped cream over her hot chocolate. My tea with oat milk. Was a very good start to the afternoon. Darren, brought our lunches over to our table. On presentation, my steak looked delishes, with little button mushroom, star shaped grill tomatoes and a lovely salad with dressing separately. My steak was tender and patterned from the griddle, full of juice. My friends steak pie, was deep, full of tender steak, with the right amount of gravy inside. Her pie came with mashed potatoes and mushy peas, gravy came separately in a jug. The presentation was spot on. As a retired chef, I always think, Quality, Quantity, and Presentation, makes all the difference. One I think of, very important, to customers. With my meal today, I would like to say this meal had all of these. Quality, Quantity and Presentation. The Staff caring, happy and helpful. My friend had millionaire brownie and ice cream. I wasn't going to have a dessert, as I didn't see any thing with out gluten or dairy. The waitress told me they did have fresh strawberrys and peach compote, and vegan ice cream I decline the icecream, but it was a lovely gesture the strawberrys and peach compote was light and so refreshing after steak, plus well presented. and a lovely alternative to dairy and gluten sponges, cakes and crumbles. Which I can't have. I would like to thank Darren and his team working today, for a lovely meal, the guy who greeted us the lovely waitress. Darren and the chef. You all made us feel so welcome, you couldn't do enough for us. You made sure we had a lovely afternoon. Thank you once again

I visit usually to use the soft play with my toddler, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The food is fine for the little ones.

I was served by a lady called Ashleigh, she provided an excellent customer service that went above and beyond, she was able to recommended meals that we chose as we were unsure on what to eat. She got it spot on. She was particularly good with the children, and was always around when we needed her. Thank you for making our visit a pleasant one! We could see that she gave every customer she encountered the same experience which didn’t go unoticed.

recently visited the chequers and was greeted by one of the waitresses (Georgia) she was lovely and recommended us which dishes to try when asked. she always had a smile on her face and made us feel very welcome, will definitely be visiting again shortly!

We come in every week and will continue to do so, love speaking to Georgia, she's so lovely and always there to fix any issues or just for a friendly chat.

The Chequers is one of my partner Jackie and mine's regular haunts, although we hadnt been for a month or so. We live in Dronfield and I asked my partner if she'd let me take her out for tea. So we rocked up at the Chequers and both ordered the Steak Sizzler meal and some drinks! Soon enough my partners meal came and I was quite impressed, especially with the steak. Nice size, however there was no sizzle! Anyways about 3 mins later mine came.....substantially smaller steak than my hers and again no sizzle! I said to the waitress, "What happened there love?" She asked what I meant and I said "Well thats a lot smaller than hers!" So she went and had a word in the kitchen only to return saying they said it eas the same weight! So she then got the manager to come over who, on first sight of the steak, immediately apologised and removed it telling me he was going to replace the whole meal. Ten mins later it arrived back with a bigger steak but, on cutting into it it was too red inside, so I went to the bar to infirm them. The manager came back and took the meal back and when ut returned the steak was cooked more like I wanted it. The meal was nice. My partner complained that all this had spoiled our time there, as we wanted to eat together, shed felt that she couldnt eat her meal bcos I'd not got mine, it was cooled down by the time my mesl came back ok and so the manager decided to refund us our meals. We also had a free cappucino each. He was really nice about everything. The chef, I think, needs a word from him about their idea of good service. We'd still eat there and recommend others to still eat there. Jackie & Colin

Booked for Boxing Day, sending in menus beginning of December 2024. On the day only one soup available and two had been ordered. Also Christmas Dinner for two of our party had very hard roast potatoes, which they could not eat. Having told one of the members of staff, the manager discounted some of the meals. Christmas pudding portions were ridiculously small. Still waiting for my £10 voucher for booking this on line.

If you like typical pub fare then this place is for you...food wasn't the best, looked nice enough but steak and ale pie could have had more steak in it and the fish was mmeh, the Curry looked and smelled nice and passed for pub grub. However, saying that it was no less than expected ...

Service was sporadic children left until last

This has become our favourite place to eat. The food is smashing, tasty, great menu choice and reasonable priced , the staff are very helpful, extremely friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Thankyou to the staff for making our family get together a special one.

Sunday lunch like home! Tasty food, friendly staff, jolly atmosphere!

Mediocre to poor food. In the wacky warehouse. The nachos were cold, no real cheese just an orange ‘cheese’ sauce which was tepid. The party food wasn’t terrible, but the hot dog buns were dry so none of the kids ate them.

Came weeks ago just forgot to leave a review. Never been before so visited with the son on a random drive about. Nice place all staff were lovely and friendly. Would recommend and will deffo go back!!

Generous portions, I had chicken roast dinner and was slightly disappointed that it was a breast with no skin so obviously not from a roast chicken. My husband had the lamb which was a far more generous portion.

The food was amazing and staff were great. Georgia was super professional and helpful had a good laugh. Puddings are super as always.

Always a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The food is not high cuisine, but the price and service are very good.

Had my boys 5th birthday party here at the Wacky warehouse and the time we had was fantastic. Great value for me and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Party was a hit, kids loved the play and the food and we got a special party room to eat and parents could relax with a coffee and meals aswell. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a party for young kids.

Called for a sunday roast which was absolutely disgusting potatoes was smash the turkey roll was spiced and the veg was soggy and you had no option of gravy it was poured on for you Staff was shouting from one end of pub to the other having a conversation

Food was amazing, there was nothing i didn't like, our server was Georgia and she was lovely and chatty. The atmosphere was calm. Came here for years and will come again soon.

Needs a bit of a fix up. The seats and tables are always sticky. The food isn't that great either. The 8oz steak was grisly and fatty so I left almost half as it was unpalatable.

We had a lovely dinner at the Chequers. I had the salmon served on a bed of peppers and onions and sweet chilli sauce, salad and sweet potatoe chips. My husband had a mini mixed grill which was plenty and very filling. The service was excellent from Georgia and her colleague they attended to all our needs. Goodcvalue for the money.

Well what can I say , it wasn't busy 1900pm on a Friday night. Waited 50 mins for luke warm food , the wrong food. We couldn't wait to get out of the placeand certainly won't be setting foot in any time in the future. Absolutely terrible place. The staff did try to be helpful, but unfortunately it was too late , we were starving , ate what we could and went home extremely disappointed, ruined the evening 😢.

Good service, was a quiet lunch time so fast food and pleasant staff. Only thing I’d say if portion size could be a bit bigger especially when ordering something classed as a big plate.

All the family had a loving meal well cook and good portions.the tables was very clean and around was clean sat in the kiddies seating with the tv the staff l talk to was very helpful

Worsts food I’ve eaten. All frozen food and lacks flavour. Most of it probably microwaved. Interesting clientele with foul-mouths. Staff were nice though.

Since moving to the area 2 years ago we have had many meals here which includes breakfast, lunch and tea The food is excellent and varied for the price. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and has a great atmosphere. If there is a problem it can be resolved very quickly. We visit with friends and family who all enjoy going there.
