Went today for food the menu is to die for food is absolutely amazing staff are incredible would highly recommend definitely will be back.

Food was absolutely shocking, had no taste to it no flavour and was very dry which was very disappointing especially with the price your paying you would’ve thought it would be reflected on the quality of the food. Maybe a bad day at the office for them today but would not recommend and definitely in no rush to go back

The staff are extremely pleasant, the layout is nice in terms of seating and being able to see the kitchen. The food though is very average for the price. Not sure about the decor — pictures of all the cows etc. Have visited around four times in total - not a fan of the menu change. The theme needs addressing a little and menu revising. It comes across as though it’s trying to do something to be a bit clever/different but compared to other options at a similar price point it’s just not enticing enough.

Highly recommend! Visited Saturday afternoon for a late lunch and ordered the "Hungry Butcher" sharing plate to share with a mate, perfect balance of quality and quantity of all the food items on the platter, each meat on the plate was unique in it's own element and mouth wateringly tasty, the bacon sprinkled fries, cheesy dip and beef gravy topped it off! Very reasonably priced when you consider the quality and localness of it all. Hats off to our chef for such an outstanding meal, and our very friendly and helpful waiter Caitlin. Really nice atmosphere as well, will be returning again to sample more of the menu!

I called today to book a table for around 9.50ish as i had work till 9.30 as it says restraint open till 11pm Last booking of. Table online. Is 9.30pm I was advised that last orders of food is 9.30 pm... Which obs makes last of food basicly. Impossible I adviaes i would pre order my food over phone and even pay. I got told this isnt possible Wont now be visiting this establishment .

Was really looking forward to visiting the butcher and catch, unfortunately the experience was somewhat underwhelming. The service was not what you would consider speedy,the food very slow to the table and when it arrived some of the choices failed to excite. Don’t know if we just hit on a bad day but don’t feel inclined to visit again to find out.

Terrible service terrible food last night

After seeing the new menu we were excited to come to one of our favourite restaurants. Unfortunately the place seems to have gone massively downhill. My partner had the Yorkshire man. The meat was dry and tasteless and the gravy was like water. I had the steak and bake. The steak was tough, I had to ask for a steak knife. But due to the meals been on metal trays with paper on them (just give me a plate) every time I cut into it I got a mouthful of soggy paper stuck to it. I also ordered a child’s meal for my daughter. It was advertised as battered cod, fries and minty peas. The peas were plain and tasteless and the cod came as masala cod. When I asked to change I was told it was all already marinated. Ended up just giving her the chips and having to get her something on the way home. Also the prices on the menu were wrong. Cocktail said £9 but charged £9.45 on the receipt. Good job I checked.

Staff were lovely, food was nice

Where to begin, we got the hungry butcher with slaw and crayfish Mac & cheese, Belly pork X2 small pieces - underwhelming skin not crispy and fat not properly rendered. Brisket X2 small pieces - overcooked and dry with no taste like it hadn't been seasoned prior to cooking. Bacon chips - tasted like blended Frazzles over the top of chips very overpowering. Lamb tacho's x2 - they were placed under the chips so tacho soft shell was greasy and the two tiny slithers of lamb inside were edible at best. Chicken wings X3 - chicken wings is a complement id say new born chick wings they were tiny and because of this they were over cooked and dry. Cheese sauce - was tasteless no seasoning. Beef gravy - was just a brown water with a hint of flavour but it was ok to use to wash the frazzle seasoning off the chips. Slaw was enjoyable. Crayfish mac and cheese - was ok nothing to write home about. Complementary BBQ sauce - I opened the bottle and it made me feel sick, the bottle was a third full and it looked like the restaurant do not check and clean the edge of the seal it was full of aged BBQ sauce the flaked off when I opened on to the table just unclean. Onto the positives Waitress's - were fantastic (even with all the above I still tipped due to them)

Wonderfully attentive and polite service team. Nice setting... But the food falls shockingly far below the price. Cheap skirt steak cooked poorly. Half the sharers are a poor mac n cheese. For the same price or less, you could find a better meal with better wine/drinks at Native/Orange Bird/Domo. It's a shame not supporting independent business but am disappointed.

Was looking forward to a good Sunday Lunch based off previous reviews. Took along time for starters to arrive and even longer for the mains. Calamari was tough and tasteless, needed seasoning. Stuffing was missing from the roast dinners Burgers were incredibly small. Everything in the seafood linguini was tough and over-cooked Deeply disappointed. Won’t be returning.

Bit late on this review (sorry guys!) but had a fantastic meal at this fantastic independent joint in Sheffield. Great choices, food cooked beautifully, and staff knowledgeable and friendly. If you’re local or like em, staying in the area, and you don’t want a big chain to go to, try this place!

A last minute booking for Sunday roast on Mother’s Day and at 3pm it could have been dodgy after a busy lunch serving. But it was far from that, attentive friendly service, fantastic food, great value. We used to go to a very established Broomhill eatery but that place just isn’t what it was- Butcher & Catch is now king of Broomhill!

Food was OK but we wasn't offered the specials by the staff with we herd offered to other groups. We would of had the specials aswell. Don't think we will be going back

Lovely food and staff. There for a special birthday. Steak great, ditto for cod loin, scotch egg and chocolate and cherry cheesecake. Only reduced stars due to the number of items they'd run out off, food and drink, by 8pm on Saturday evening and wanting to take plates away from some before others at table had finished.

Was not one bit impressed with the butcher and catch last night (Friday 16th Feb 2024) We ordered from the "valentines week" menu. The menu in the restaurant doesn't match up to the wider selection presented online. The waitress told me "they have stripped the menu to a minimal to please local clientele" We ordered oyster to start, and the 24oz tomahawk meal from the valentines week menu for main along with a side of scallops. The scallops seemed very undercooked, looked bleak, no colour whatsoever and was not enjoyable. However the biggest disappointment was the actual steak. We ordered it medium rare but the steak came out almost blue. The piece of meat we was given was really poor quality and full of excessive fat. On top of this, I really didn't like the way the meal was presented. The chef had cut our steak off the bone, and chopped it into lumps (almost as tho they were giving the plate of food to a young child) I felt by doing this, it made the steak Go instantly cold and lose some of its moisture that it would have locked in had it not been cut up. The peppercorn sauce was something else, it is quite easily the weirdest tasting, worst peppercorn sauce I've ever had before in my life. The only shining light was the crayfish mac n cheese (which we asked for the crayfish to be given sepearely) I expressed my concerns for the meal to the waitress, who was actually really friendly and tried her best to be helpful. In conclusion though, this was super over priced and not an enjoyable meal experience whatsoever.

We have visited B&C a few times now but this visit didn’t really meet up to our usual experiences. Before anything though, the service was excellent! The staff were polite and attentive without being too much. We ordered halloumi fries to start which were lovely and hot. We then ordered a fillet steak, cooked rare and the ‘Block and Tackle’ tasting board. The steak was definitely rare but was odd in its texture and was only just warm. The onion rings and fries were very oily even when hot. The tasting board was good but greasy. Neither meal was spectacular for the price paid and we didn’t finish the food. We ordered dessert, an affogato and salted caramel Pave. The Pave was delicious and by far the best part of the meal. We had one drink each and it came to £110 which was definitely overpriced. It’s such a shame as the standard was far better before!

Ate at Butcher and Catch for the first time the other night. Had the oysters. All food was delicious at the time... however like a few reviews on here we have both ended up with food poisoning the day after and quite a bad case (this is the only place where we ate the same thing - mussels/oysters). Probably a bit hit and miss but the fact there are a few reviews in the last few months mentioning not feeling well after indicates to avoid the seafood (particularly raw oysters) from here. Likely won't be back again based on this experience.

We visited for the first time last night and we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and the food was amazing! I had the belly pork and my parents had the Butcher and Tackle platter. Every bit of the food was tasty and perfectly cooked. The cray fish macaroni was gorgeous, I could have eaten a bowl of it on its own. If we visit Sheffield again we would definitely return.

We came for Sunday lunch today I had the pork belly and my husband the beef, the food was outstanding, arrived within 15 minutes, very hot, and very tasty , I can honestly say this is the best Sunday lunch iv had , a big well done to all the staff at Butcher and Catch ,we will be returning soon

Great fresh food and amazing service

We went for my partners birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience from the top quality fresh food to the amazing service we received. Definitely recommend going if you’re in the area.

We had a meal here last Saturday night. I booked a table for 6 persons for an early (6pm) slot, but one of our number had to drop out with toothache. I ordered the Pork Belly, my wife and daughter had the Linguine, my daughter's partner a Steak, his Mum the Cod and our grand-daughter had a kiddies meal of Fish & Chips. My meal was fine but nothing special and the portion size was a little on the small side I thought? The black pudding mash was unusual but tasty but the whole was just warm rather than hot. My wife and daughter ate all their linguine but neither were impressed. The friend eating the Cod commented afterwards that it was a small portion, and she isn't a big eater. My daughter's partner left a considerable portion of the steak, including the fat which ran around the outside and a line of gristle which ran through the middle. We took it home for the dog who turned his nose up at it! So, all in all, not the experience we expected. I had hoped for a better meal and I doubt that any of us would return to this restaurant?

Butcher and Catch was always a place me and my partner wanted to go, I would not go again. I am a massive foodie but unfortunately had food poisoning for the 3 days following my visit. The food was delicious and for the price you pay I would not expect to get poorly from either oysters or scallops. Meat and seafood is the concept of the restaurant and after my experience maybe just stick to the meat options.

Went for Sunday lunch. Roast beef was fantastic, one of the best Sunday roasts I have had. Both the beef and veg were cooked well. A really enjoyable lunch.

We booked this late on Saturday afternoon, when we got there the welcome was very nice and we were quickly shown to our table. We had the mussels to start which were really nice and tasty with a good portion size, for the main dish we had “the block and tackle “ which for the money was very disappointing, I appreciate that food has gone up in price but for over £25 a main it was really disappointing. I would imagine that you would be able to get a lot more for your money else where

Cold atmosphere and food was ok, nothing special but woke up in middle of night and had to go toilet, was really uncomfortable and certainly not worth it. Felt poorly few days after as well so think maybe food was a bit off or dodgy? Shame really cos thought this place had potential!

Two very enjoyable burgers with beautiful pulled beef smothered over the patty. House slaw also good. Only complaint would be desiring a nicer tomato ketchup than the sweet and cheap stuff found on burger vans. The chips didn’t deserve that.

The sirloin steak I ordered medium rare, and the waitress confirmed it twice with me. But I got a medium almost medium well steak on the table. It was not a busy dining time, and there’s only me and another table only. Can’t believe they made this simple mistake.

The food here is not great. Particularly for the price. The poorest things were the brownish coleslaw served with the burgers and a very strange runny white emulsion served as citrus aioli with the calamari … As you walk in, there is a chiller of sorry looking meat and fish. The burgers are pre- packaged and the one I saw in the chiller was grey in the middle. I really would not recommend eating here.

I always have good meals here. The belly pork was exceptional. If I could I'd give them just under 5 stars - the scallops were very nice but quite expensive for the quantity and the balsamic onions really didn't work - shouted down the more nuanced flavours. But the rest of the dish was very good, and the ambience and service are great, so wouldn't be fair to go down to 4 stars.

Arrived at 330 today and we were one of two tables in the restaurant. Took 1hr for Roast to arrive. Drinks took 15 minutes. Service poor. Then told cauliflower cheese would be arriving later and it was hard and bland. Overheard chef telling waitress they had run out of top side beef a while ago (we were still allowed to order beef and must have been a different cut as very tough) Potatoes so hard could not eat. Very small portions. Really disappointing and would not recommend. Worst roast we have had in months.

Me and my partner came here 6 months ago and the food was great so we came back and the food was shocking. Everything about the food was bad, we ordered a medium cooked steak with truffle parmesan cheese chips and 1 onion ring. The steak was a very bad cut half of it was un eatable, it came cold and definitely wasn’t medium it was more rare and having a rare steak you’d expect a little blood, there was nothing the steak was dry witch was unusual. The onion ring didn’t even have an onion in it was pure batter and the chips that are £3 to upgrade to had the most tiny sprinkle of Parmesan. The second dish was a mixed platter that was also pretty much un edible. The only thing decent was the chicken wings and even so they wasn’t the best as they was very burnt. The crab was extremely fishy as though it was old. The Mac and cheese was solid on top as though it had been sat under a heating light all day and again dry. The piece of battered fish was more or less all batter. The coleslaw was old, it was turning brown and sloppy. I am never one to complain about food as I will literally eat anything but this was bad, it would have been around a £90 bill for somthing I would expect from a Greene king/ hungry horse restaurant that I would have expected to pay £10 a plate for, not near enough £30 a plate, the manager didn’t really know what to do and I had to say to her I only really want to pay for our drinks and we settled at paying for the drinks, chips and burnt chicken wings that cost £32. So overall shocking experience and won’t be going back

Visiting Sheffield for a few days and as the restaurant was close to our accommodation we decided to give it a try. Early evening so was very quiet. Friendly welcome from waitress who was a star throughout our visit. Menu reflects the restaurant name with a catch of the day, sea breem on the bone which was eccellent. Overall the food was of a good standard. Prices are a bit high but not over the top. Nice experience overaĺl

NEVER AGAIN. COLD FOOD SERVED , NOT REALLY SURPRISING AS THE ROOM WAS SO COLD ALSO, WE ASKED IF THE HEATING COULD BE TURNED UP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS ALREADY ON AND POINTED TO A SMALL HEATER AT THE TOP OF THE WALL. MY GRANDDAUGHTER AND HER MUM HAD TO KEEP THEIR COATS ON ALL THE TIME . THE COLD MEDIUM COOKED STEAK WAS RETURNED. AND REPLACED WITH ONE COOKED RARE. WHICH SHE LEFT THE SEAFOOD LINGUINI HAD A FEW MUSSELS, (Not all were even open) AND TWO PIECES OF CALAMARI WHICH WERE LIKE RUBBER TUBING. THE ONLY OVERWHELMING TASTE TO THE WHOLE DISH WAS TOMATO SAUCE WHICH WAS LIKE A CHEAP JAR OF PASTA SAUCE SERVED COLD. AGAIN MOSTLY LEFT. WOULD WE RETURN,, DEFINITELY NOT.

Have been waiting to try this restaurant for a while and it didn't disappoint. Good service. The food was lovely: we had oysters, steaks and a mixed board. The oysters were brill. The macaroni side with prawns/ crab was to die for. All amazing. Great selection of drinks and wines too. Will definitely return. Highly recommend.

On a positive note the oysters were good. However The service was to be desired. The two servers spent most of the time in the bar area than attending tables. My wife’s medium steak was clock cold then returned rare only to be left ! My mum and daughters linguine resembles a Cheap supermarket Passata with a few mussels, one of which wasn’t even open! The restaurant was that cold that my wife and daughter left their coats on whilst eating . We won’t return what a shame as I booked it for my dads birthday

Four of us had a meal and we all loved it, congratulations as we have 1fussy eater in the group.

We waited an hour for our starters, my mussels were sandy in weak tomato sauce and another hour for our mains that were stone cold but over cooked at the same time.

Waited far too long for both starters and mains (as did other tables). Understaffed, and a couple of mistakes were made with the order. Starters were passable, mains were overdone and the chips were some of the worst I've ever had. Extremely overpriced for what it is.

Waited over 50 minutes for my starter: 4 pieces of calamari, which were ok at best, mounted on top a mound of salad. Absolutely ridiculous how long the wait times are. This was followed up by a further 28 minutes wait time for my main: an absolutely god ******* awful buttermilk chicken burger. I’m not even sure how you mess up something so simple. Burgers are supposed to taste good if you weren’t aware, especially for £16 a burger. A 1 hour and 18 minute wait time in total. If I knew I’d have to wait this long for food I would have called a restaurant in Paris and ******* swam over.

Had to wait 1.5 hours before we were actually served and the food was mediocre, definitely not worth the £22 for the steak. Look elsewhere.

A great place to have a lovely meal! I have food allergies, including nightshade and dairy, but Butcher & Catch were more than happy to accommodate. Our food was fresh, very tasty, and done to perfection, and we were served with genuine kindness and second to non service. The atmosphere was just right for a catch up with my husband, and we'll be back again very soon!

I had high expectations for butcher and catch, having heard good things in the past about the place, very overpriced and overrated for what was served to us, overall disappointing, won't come back.

Felt slightly disappointed with the experience here. Food was decent but not really worth the price tag - cod loin was ok, fish and chips not really up to a restaurant standard. I think if you’re a bit of a foodie you’ll be disappointed. The thing that I didn’t like was being able to hear the chef in the open kitchen giving orders in his very loud voice all night - you could hear everything he was saying! You could hear your order being discussed, what dishes were late, and he was a bit testy with the other chef at times. Another couple near us was visibly cringing! I think this place would be good if you were in a big group and sat far away from the open kitchen. Not great for a couple. Waitresses were really lovely though - 5 stars for them!

A big cob of sourdough bread was plentiful to mop up the amazing sauce after devouring the fresh tasting muscles. And then the main... My wife had the duck which was out of this world a generous portion and everything on the plate accompanied one another perfectly. And the seafood linguine ... out of this world, I had to go Portugal to taste anything so sensational and 6 years on I have finally found somewhere that smashed it completely. The restaurant is a lovely modern vibe with floral decor and a sun lit window view to enjoy I was definitely taken back to a place like Portugal. The service was polite and friendly and the selection of drinks was acceptional, i would personally recommend the passion fruit punch or if you are driving the elderflower fizz is a refreshing treat. For a date night for two coming in at just over £80.00 for what we had i think is well worth it and we will come back again soon. 10/10

Very disappointed after reading a previous good review. No tap beers available. A very long wait on a quiet Sunday to receive food. A lot of dishes not available and food was poorly cooked.

Really enjoyed dinner here! Having meat and fish options is so helpful as it suits everyone. More unusual fish too - catch of the day was swordfish so was great to try something new. Even tried an oyster for the first time. Star of the show though was the waitress (blonde w glasses). Ran the dining room single-handedly, friendly, attentive, knew the menu inside out, upselling. Hold on to her, she’s golden.

Just had to do a review on this gem of a restaurant. Had the most delicious lunch with friends and family. Decor and service excellent relaxed dining. Food delicious all out table really enjoyed it.

We had 2 fishy and 2 meaty dishes from the menu and 2 kids meals. All the meals were delicious as were the cocktails. They split an adult starter for the kids as a starter. I really wanted the seafood linguine but can't eat mussels...

Bottomless Brunch Loved it! Passion fruit martini - perfect, not too sweet. Strawb margarita - really light and delicious The food was so tasty and flavourful. I would definitely recommend and 100% will be here again! Ellie’s service was amazing, lovely girl, very friendly. Also the music was so good and fitted the bottomless brunch vibe. Can’t wait to come back!!

I was so ready to love Butcher & Catch because of the great reviews but left really disappointed. It took 45 minutes to bring us our two medium rare steaks, one of which was raw and the other was well done but they took so long to come we just ate them. Overall it took us 2 hours to get 2 courses on a Sunday night with a very empty restaurant. Food was very average, high prices did not reflect the quality of the meal at all and the service was pretty slow. I hate when you have to go to the bar to pay because you can’t find your waiter. Sorry Butcher and Catch but wouldn’t go again :/ (also not the staff’s fault but an open kitchen does not work when the chef is shouting orders at the cooks for the whole restaurant to hear, kind of ruins the atmosphere)

For mains succulent pork belly and a sweet chicken burger. Wish i had two stomachs to fit more in. Wide selection of beers, wines and Loxley Gin. Never fail to impress.

Excellent choice for steak, cooked as requested and seasoned beautifully! The extra onion rings were the best onion rings we ever had, the hendo's BBQ sauce is also a must try here. Hannah served us with a warm, friendly professionalism that was appreciated by us and added an extra dynamic to the service provided. Cannot recommend this place enough and we cannot wait to return!

Over priced, staff need training a bit more if your prices are going to be so high then a professional service is expected. Food very mediocre and some food items were cold. Won’t be returning

The roast beef, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and veg were nice but the real star of the show was the gravy. Beefy and just the right consistency plentiful and tasty. There is limited availability on the roast dinners so don't leave your sitting too late and regular menu is much more pricey. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is included in a dessert and coffee offer but it's the only dessert included in the offer. The pudding itself is basic but the sauce is again the star and worth the price of admission on its own. Service is friendly but slow with only two people on the floor serving and seemingly two in the kitchen. Still the food is worth the wait and since it was a Sunday it was not as if I was in a rush.

This is an amazing place. Good ingredients and beautifully cooked. The kids menu has only 3 options, but the food is as good quality as the main menu. Never disappoints.

Always a good place with a selection of modern dishes to really appeal to your palate. Obviously the restaurant theme is around good pieces of meat and fish but I would love to see a veggie 'special' on the menu each month to rotate around the two other vegetarian options.

Just had an excellent meal at this local restaurant. The menu had lots of choices including vegetarian through to full on massive steaks. Although there was skate on the menu we shared delicious scallops which were so good, we considered ordering. Mains were equally delicious...

We had the 10oz steak and burger, very nice , our friends had the block and tackle sharer and frankly we were disappointed. The dish seemed all too well done , the crab and beef couldn’t be found , the special chips were normal chips...
