Dine here every other week with friends. Have always been happy with the food and service. However on this occasion we had waited over half and hour for our food, which had to be returned to the kitchen. Although the plates were hot, the food was barely warm. When our meals were returned it seemed that they had just been reheated because now the baguettes were hard. We ordered more hot drinks and again waited far too long. When they arrived there were no spoons to stir the drinks. Rather than having to wait even longer we just used the dirty spoons from previous drinks. When informing staff that we felt the returned food had just been reheated she informed us that she personally saw the food being prepared and it was not reheated. I explained that reheated baguettes go very hard when reheated in a microwave, she dismissed the comment and just apologised for the wait. We do understand that busy periods can cause extra waiting times, however this should not reflect on the quality of food and the standard of service. It is only because previous visits have been far better than this one, that we are willing to return. However should we experience the same I can say it will be the last.

Updated review following a full management response. I was pleased to receive a considered response, with explanation. This has made all the difference. I accept that sometimes for whatever reason service can be compromised, but assured this was an unfortunate one-off. Thank you for the personal response and resolution. I will update further once I dine again, and offer a more positive appraisal, thank you. Initial review / concerns raised:- I can comprehend the information on your site, including opening times. Without checking my GPS time line and accuracy of your CCTV time stamp I cannot be certain of the exact seconds of arrival and departure. Don't try arguing that I was at fault and did not follow your site directives. My directive is that YOU need to be more clear, MORE courteous, and suggest you instruct your patrons to be seated and ordered by 20:30. I will copy this update to the CEO too. Very unimpressed because of the disorganisation and sheer lack of any acknowledgement that I and my party were grossly inconvenienced. Online booking accepted for 21:00. Arrived and seated by 21:07. Told we could sit where we wanted. So we did. Unfortunately then advised that LAST FOOD ORDER was at 21:00. Why on Earth was our booking accepted? If I had been advised of this, I would NOT have wasted my evening, petrol and patience visiting. I have honestly not known anything like it before. Has a result, was unable to source suitable food elsewhere - so it was back home to prepare something instead. Thoughtless customer service. You should have advised pf the consequences of not been there well BEFORE the accepted table booking of 21:00 - ie. Getting abruptly turned away with no food. I am been reasonable here, many would not be. One of the party has MS, with mobility issues, it took a little planning tonight to get there, to be rebuked. Management need to review their processes. I will be emailing Head Office.

Very pleasant time, everyone was very kind and understanding of extra needs.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the chicken thigh kebab and my wife had the fish and jacket potato and everything was lovely. My kebab was very tasty, possibly could have done with a tiny touch of spice because I avoided ordering the piri piri sauce, thinking that with one chilli rating it would already have a touch of spice (I'm not a huge spice fan but I do enjoy a bit of zing) but there was no spice at all. That's not really a complaint, just an observation for my personal taste and I would still order it again :) overall I'm very happy, it's a lovely place to go for a lunch date and we have done before and we've never had a bad meal or experience. Thank you :)

Service excellent as always & food , top notch

When ordering food they asked us if anyone has allergies, our son has multiple so we had checked the menu prior to visiting so we knew it was okay for him. The lady made a note of what his allergies where. When we sat down someone came to spray and wipes the table down which is excellent as any food debris can cause him to have a reaction. His food came and had an allergy sign in which I thought was good as all staff knew then to be more diligent. Lady waiting the table was also very polite. Food was okay too.

Went to the pub for a wake and felt that they were really accommodating. When staff realised that all seating had gone they quickly moved curtains to make sure that those of us who needed seating still were part of the wake itself. Quick service and brilliant food. Thank you x

Excellent service and amazing food. I attended a funeral wake. The staff couldn’t do enough. We had a private area at the back of the pub where hot food was served for us. The food catered for all tastes and allergies. (Gluten free food and all well labelled) my friend really fancied Mac and cheese ordered this off the full menu and this was also lovely

Lovely tasty food served very quickly. Staff were very attentive too. :) I'm not local and only came as passing but would return if I was in the area.

We come here every Sunday for the quiz, it's pretty early for a pub quiz (6pm) but perfect for those with work the next day. Theres lots for kids to do and the staff are always nice and friendly, they remember regulars and say hi :)

Lovely staff very friendly. The food was amazing and hot. The app to order to the table is so easy to use and quick service. Only down side is the table was a tad sticky but other than that it was very clean and inviting

Good sharer/starter plates, we had 5 for £22 I think but you need the option to add fries for an extra £1 or chips for an extra £1.50 then this deal is god tier

On approach always there to welcome us in , nothing is ever too much trouble with a lovely smile and always chatting anyway to you. Been to several food outlets but the eight foot way is the best!! The food is always spot on

Service was good food was good but when finished asked to move to allow more people to dine but there was nowhere for me and my family to sit but outside in the cold which I find unacceptable

Staff always welcoming Kane served us for anniversary breakfast. He looked after us and nothing was too much to ask for He’s a great addition to the staff as I’ve not been here for a while

A pub that gets it right, best pub food in the area, great customer service, today provided by Lucinda, Ben, and Marnie. This place is everything a pub should be, part of the community.

A fantastic place, great staff, the best food in the area, creates a very friendly welcoming environment that knows the meaning of community and beyond. I was served by Lucinda, Ben, and Marnie. They have a new menu, the cowboy burger is difficult to steer (nb cowboy pun there) away from. Highly recommend

We were very pleasantly surprised today. The food was really tasty, came relatively fast. The staff Jade and Kane where really friendly and very attentive we would defiantly go again.

Tride some of the new menu and it was amazing the chefs that was on cooked it perfect and the front staff was amazing with the service definitely come again.

Not good on Saturdays. It was busy so we had to wait 50 minutes for our order to arrive. I ordered the curry that sadly, was watery and tasteless. My wife had a veggie pizza and she thought that it was lovely.

Stopped coming due to low competence from the kitchen, came back due to a pinch. The fries were hot, the burgers were hot. The onion rings had already been through the fryer a couple of times and ours were bottom of the barrel scrapings and not hot. Sent them back and new ones came out straight away (not busy enough to have batches done) and they were only warm and from the same batch. Avoid unless you are stuck for choice

Been here a good few times now, always a friendly welcome and food always piping hot and well presented. Usually come in for dinner but came for breakfast with my youngest son (4) and the breakfast was good too, perfect portion size. We also came for the tea with the Grinch over Christmas and it was well worth what we paid. Great value for money, although it was busy with a lot of bookings all at the same time all tables got served their food on time and in a timely manner. 5⭐

Lovely pub for food, drinks and a welcoming place for families. Very clean and food is lovely! Also reasonably priced! Plenty to keep the kids occupied too with outdoor play areas and machines inside. 🙂

Had a great time it was my birthday treat from my partner I had the large mix grill and it was to die for meat so succulent and tasty and plenty of it if you have a big appetite lol also the staff are so happy and helpful and always have time for a chat. If you want a nice meal at a reasonable price get yourself down there.

We went to celebrate the first ever New Years Eve party and it was totally amazing. The atmosphere was buzzing. Music was played all night with a great range of songs for everyone, Simon was awesome. The buffet was really nice with a variety of different things to choose from. The drinks were flowing with plenty to choose from. A really great night was had. All the staff were very welcoming to everyone and did an amazing job. Cant wait for their next event to book on. Thank you all for a great night.

Never a dull experience here! Have been regularly coming for several years now with family and there is never a bad word we can say about Ben or his team. Simon is always a laugh and Jade and Nat are super friendly. Thanks for always welcoming us in!

Family pub which reflects in the menu. Staff were friendly and the drinks selection is good. The quality and variety of the food was poor. Had the sirloin steak and it was so chewy and tasteless. Others had burgers and they were the same. You get what you pay for.

Me and family went for Christmas dinner and wow after spending £283 on 3 adults and 2 kids you would expect it to be a least somewhat nice the starters was OK but don't have any starters for kids so my 4 year old daughter had bread and butter then came the dinner I mean the the veg was steamed including the parsnips the pig in blankets needed at least another 15 mins in oven the turkey was very dry and not fresh at all and full of fat my partner ended up leaving hers as it was that bad none of us adults had much of the plate even the yorkshire pudding was like cardboard and the mash was out of a packet my 4 year old had sausage and mash staff brought out a vegetarian sausage didn't even ask us if that's what she wanted so she left her dinner the desserts was Christmas pudding with brandy sauce for the adults the pudding was clearly out of a pot probably bought from lidl down road the sauce was lumpy custard with a shot of brandy in it not proper brandy sauce the kids wasn't given a choice for dessert apart from ice-cream no toppings just vanilla flavour least to say I will not be eating at this place again and think it should be looked into by health and safety this is not proper food they are using and everything was out of a packet or frozen the staff didn't even ask us if everything was OK with our meal if they had then they would have got this the only friendly person there was one of the bar lads can't remember his name i would like a manager to get in contact with me if they could if I could leave a NO star review I would

Amazing experience yesterday 25/12 food was pipping hot and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Definitely will be back next year for another christmas dinner with my family.

Excellent Christmas lunch menu for a party of 5. Main course was too large to finish. Very nice starters and desserts.

I came here with my kids for the tea with Grinch and they absolutely loved it. Food was amazing and the staff were very helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Always enjoy a visit to the eight foot way. The food is really good value and always of a high standard. The service is great, the staff are polite and always check in on you after your food has arrived.

Went to have tea with the Grinch absolutely disgusted. Ask if our food could come out with the kids and it came out 30 minutes before the kids food . Kids had to sit and watch us eat. Asked when the grinch was coming out and when he did come out he was smashing boxes and trashed Christmas tree scarring all the little kids. They was all screaming and crying . The manager then sent the grinch and kids out side and kept telling kids to stay out side which none of them had coats on and it’s freezing after I asked her why do you keep telling them to stay out side it’s freezing and they don’t have coats. Her response was well they’re running about and they look okay . And after ten minutes The Grinch came back out and didn’t he even have enough presence for all the kids ? Me and my family and friends are so disappointed. Was not very thought out well or organised.

Myself and my daughter visit here on payday every month for lunch. Never had any complaints untill today. Its normally really lovely. Today we had to wait a long time for our food to come and then ended up with our starter with our main which really spoilt it for us. We ordered our usual hot baguettes which were far from their usual standard ,cold,soggy bread ,just not enjoyable at all. Really disappointed as we look forward to this monthly treat. Also they seemed to be running on skeleton staff which obviously added to the long waits. We will be back in December with fingers crossed that it's back to its usual excellent standard.

Great service, friendly staff.We booked a table which is easy, nice table reserved near fire, we both had the ultimate burger, its nice love the pot of gravy, food nice and hot. Also flavoured cider.
