A little seaside treat on a sunny afternoon! Had heard good things about Uncle Sam’s from fellow burger fans! Popped by twice in the last couple months - well worth giving it a go! A hidden gem within the hustle and bustle of the seafront - blink and you’ll miss it kinda place The shop operates out of a tuck-shop style window - serving up fresh beef, chicken and veggie burgers. Great value and meal deals are available too! It’s takeaway only, though there is a small table to grab if you can! Service was super quick, both chefs I spoke to were really polite and super friendly. Great vibes and long may Uncle Sam’s live on! Will be back soon 🍔

Uncle Sam’s Montpelier rd has got worst and worst over the last 10 years, the owners seem to have no clue about food, firstly the chilli has no heat before it was actually a chilli burger hot, when people order that they want something spicy not tamed down for everybody it’s a choice, secondly the burgers arrive stone cold, because the salad and chilli are refrigerated crazy makes the burger cold instantly, the buns are too big for the burger Pattie, and they are vegan in case one in a million Vegans want to eat there, it’s a hamburger restaurant no vegans will ever eat there because the bun gets toasted on the same grill as the meat, so it’s at the expense of all there loyal customers me being one since I was 10 now I’m 50 now , which moron makes all theses terrible decision. Probably a vegan and it cost 28 pounds for that. Rubbish

The place doesn't deserve all the reviews it has. The food is not impressive. They forgot my drink and katshup. My tummy hurts after eating this junk.

I remember twenty years ago living a couple of buildings up the street from Montpelier Uncle Sam's. My favourite burger was a blue cheese but the top combo was definitely the All Star Meal Deal. Just shut up and pay the extra for a shake instead. I remember walking to the end of the street to watch the West Pier burn for half an hour and then collecting a burger before eating it sitting on my doorstep. Uncle Sam's - a true Brighton institution. H

I've been going to this branch for the past 15 years and can vouch that Montpellier is without a doubt the best....Rifai is a great asset to the restaurant. As it's takeaway only, no way can you have atmosphere, waiting in Montpelier for your order to be fulfilled. Quick service, and burger well filled.

I got chips, mozzarella sticks, a veggie burger and a drink, and it arrived early, piping hot and missing nothing - they even gave me salt for the chips, which I really appreciate, a lot of places don’t. The chips were crispy and fluffy too which is also quite rare with deliveries. One thing, for completely honest feedback, the veggie burger (the one with with veggie bacon and salad etc) was nice, but had a very unpleasant and strong after taste. I don’t know what it was, perhaps an abundance of red onion, but I couldn’t actually identify it. Maybe a flavour combination in there was clashing or something. It would have been a lovely burger other than that. Will definitely order again though, thank you :)

Great trade-off in burgers. The simpler the better and you cannot miss the sides. I always ask for the Cheeseburger meal and additional side of Mozzarella fingers to share.

Food was delivered cold. Unable to eat so had to use the oven. The large portion of fries was tiny, the chips were the skinniest, smaller I’ve ever seen. The veggie burger was ok, however extremely average. Do not recommend it, rip off.

Wig-The milkshakes are another level Els-Can’t remember the last time I had one Gilliam-I was desperate for a number 2 once on the way home from college and the guy working there wouldn't let me use the toilet without buying something. I didn't have any money so i pooed my pants about 200yrds up the road Wills-Our biggest burger from uncle Sam’s is unbelievable Harris-I had the double chilli and cheese and Hannah had the chicken and cheese. We both had chips and a strawberry milkshake. We asked for salt, ketchup and mayo and these came in sachets which I didn’t like , when he saw we were staying he gave us a tomato in a tub and salt shaker. The burgers were good. We liked them. And the chips too and we really really liked our shakes. It was the boys birthday and we sang him happy birthday. Nice lad, is going to Spain in 3 weeks a festival with his mates over summer. They didn’t take card but we just went to the amc. Sat in .

Fantastic value for money! I ordered the cheese burger with fries, and my partner got the same but with a soft drink for all £12!!! The food was made fresh, think crunchy lettuce in the burger and pipping hot crispy salty chips. Highly recommend. Skip the golden arches, and go to Uncle Sams instead. I will be back!

My experience of this Uncle Sams branch was ok but not entirely perfect. It arrived on time and the food was still hot however, the bun was burnt (how is this even possible) and I ordered a cheeseburger getting a hamburger instead. To be fair to them the chips were very good; above and beyond the usual "fries" you get at burger places.

Always makes my food the way I like it. Even altering a burger slightly without fuss. No allergies.

Delivery incorrect from Carden Avenue. They say Uber may refund but Uber say no. Absolutely disgusting that you pay for dinner and cannot eat it and you have no way of getting a replacement or refund.

Food - perfect Milkshake - perfect Service - Friendly, courteous, and social distancing done well. I just wish that I could order food on the app for delivery to Woodingdean. When I put in my postcode it said they do not deliver to my area, even though I was told by the owner that they will deliver to Woodingdean. Unfortunately it is too far to travel to very often.

Nice milkshake. Nowhere to park and you don't go inside, q on the small footpath. Large milk shake is quite small though.

I had a delivery from the carden avenur branch which I have been going to for countless years and it's always been great. I don't know what went wrong but the burger I ordered was the worst I've ever had. It didn't basically have any filling at all. It was cold, and floppy and just not up to their usual standard. The montpelier branch seem to keep the quality higher than the carden ave branch and its a shame.

Legendary, especially in some circles. Used to live and work nearby, therefore been spending bazillions on cbc's and shakes. Always cool stuff. Uncle Sam's has been getting worse year after year. 20 years ago it was the best burger going. Now it's on par with a lay-by burger van. The salad,sauces, veggie burgers, chicken burgers and the bread buns are of such a poor quality. Even the fries are now cheap rubbish and when so many better offerings are available locally I shall never return.

They seem to get the orders wrong quite a lot. Had food from them tonight and when I opened the bag at home to eat it I found no mayo in cheeseburger and a missing bag of chips. I only ordered 3 items how hard can I be to get that right?

Absolutely awesome, placed an order online and was ready to the minute on the collection time, even with an alteration request for one of the burgers. Shall be ordering from here again shortly!

Visited today 9 07 20 great original burger with chili sauce, nice an hot patty with a good smack of mayo chili sauce an garnish! Hot crispy fries an a smooth thick vanilla shake. Much better in this place than the shop in Lancing worth the trip. Did the American guy cooking sn serving make a difference? Dunno, but will definitely visit again! 5 stars!

This is our favourite place, Today, our hamburgers were cold - Cold burger buns and lukewarm pattie. Chips were lukewarm . We returned the cold burgers. The replaced ones were lukewarm. We have never had cold hamburgers.

I used to treat myself to an uncle Sam's in the 80s when I had money so when I was in Carden ave in December I stopped and got one and it was like i had never been away, still amazing flavours I recognized straight away. Fantastic to see Uncle Sam's still here

Amazing! I really enjoyed my chilli burger but I am not sure how much I was enjoying it as it took me right back to my childhood. I will be visiting again next time I'm in Brighton though.

Love Uncle Sams - been going here since 1988 - flame grilled flavour is better than other high street chain stores. The staff are very friendly and welcoming - always go the extra mile to better serve their customers. Be sure to try the Blue Cheese Burger and the Toffee Milkshake.

A great little burger outlet, one of the original Uncle Sam's. A favourite post Brighton Centre gig haunt of mine for over 30 years that my son has latched onto. Still making high quality burgers to order, none of this sitting on a heated shelf going manky nonsense. Their chilli sauce is just awesome. I'm told their veggie burgers are great but why do that to yourself when the chicken, fish and hamburgers are so good?

The best burger takeaway there is . Been buying their burgers since i was 12. The staff are amazing and very polite. The food is excellent and freshly cooked. The burgess hill premises are the best.

This is the burger I always go for, and for whatever reason I always try and demolish it in about 5 bites. Perfect balance of fried chicken offset by cheese, onion rings, chilli and mayo. I'm feeling hungry already!

The food was freezing cold, fries were cold, veggie deluxe was luke warm and I had to cook my blue cheese burger for 10 minutes on a griddle pan as it was raw on receival. I've had your burgers many times from carden avenue and never experienced this problem before. You really should not be sending out raw meat or expecting customers to pay or have to cook their own food otherwise customers will get food poisoning.  I expect a full refund and compensation for your terrible service, please respond to this email or I will escalate my complaint higher.

Always great burgers. Not as cheap as the mainstream places but easily worth the extra. Big quality burgers, big choice of sauces and really nice fries.

Whilst at college in Brighton during 1972-1976, Uncle Sam's was the place to go, when it was rather novel to see your hamburger grilled over an open flame. The food was always top notch, and I guess I went there rather more often than I should. Great to see the place is still open and doing well after all these years. Thanks for the memory.

Small burger takeaway (room for about 3 customers inside) on the way down to the beach. Freshly made and quick. A lot cheaper than outlets on the beach itself.

Usually uncle Sam's is the best... But after visiting the one in town, I'll be staying away. Both myself and my wife got food poisoning after eating burgers from here. Disgusting. 27/12/18 Following response from owner I shall take his advice and contact local council. As a medical professional I know what food poisoning looks like but I like your optimism in believing that in 50 years you have never made anyone poorly. I would rather suggest that in 50 years you have never quite accepted that you have made people poorly. I must admit, the cleanliness of your branch in Montpelier was NOT up to the standards of your colleagues in other locations.

Even dough the location is not that great, and there are no seats, it is a very good deal for what it offers and it’s even not that expensive. Hamburgers are great!!

I regularly order the veggie burger delux meal from here and it’s sooo good! They really do a great job and it’s great value for what you get too. The guys who are cooking and behind the till are also fantastic, impeccable customer service and an overall pleasure to order from. Glad to see a takeaway who actually cares about their clientele..
