Umi in Dumfries & Galloway

This is a beautiful restaurant in the heart of Tenby. There are lots of vegan options and the portions are big (win!). The ingredients are fresh and cooked to perfection with amazing flavours and the chef is flexible with adapting to personal taste. I can't wait to visit again.

Love this place, good service, great food in a relaxed atmosphere. It is very popular so it is best to book in advance. We hadn't on the first visit but were seated at the bar seats and on a higher level near the entrance -- they were the best seats as far as I am concerned! The tables are a delight -- solid waney edge timber. GIVE THEM A GOOD TIP FOR THE PLEASURE OF DINING HERE--- ENJOY!!!!!

An exceptional dining experience with authentic Japanese food, the sushi was incredibly fresh, with beautifully crafted rolls that balanced flavour and texture perfectly. Not to mention the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Staff were very friendly and service was quick. Absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Tenby!

Tonight, having eaten here a few times and always been very happy with the food, I got a takeaway. I can’t remember the last time I got a takeaway but when I found out umi were doing them I didn’t want to miss out. I was so happy with what I got - the food was as good as if I ate in the restaurant. I will definitely do this again! A healthy takeaway - finally! Thanks umi!

We were shown to our table by a very polite young man who pointed out the Specials Board etc. In fact all the staff appeared to be happy in their work, which makes a refresh change these days. We ordered from the Menu, Duck Spring Rolls, and Octopus to start, which were both very well cooked and very tasty and looked very appetising. For Mains, I had the Pulled Pork Ramen, and my wife had the Salmon Tepenyaki. Both dishes looked amazing and tasted wonderful. The portion size of both the mains proved to be excellent value for money. All in all, Umi gave us exactly what we wanted, VFM, quality food, and, importantly, great taste. Thanks to all involved in what turned out to be a lovely experience that we really enjoyed.

Well cooked flavoursome food. Great service and relaxed atmosphere. They even moved tables and chairs outside to allow me to park and keep an eye on my mobility scooter whilst we dined. We will be sure to return next time we visit Tenby.

Delicious Japanese food. Plenty of vegan options and protein packed. We ordered a seaweed starter and it was the nicest tasting fresh seaweed we had ever eaten. The main came with a generous portion of tofu and perfectly cooked vegetables and tasty pickled ginger and radish. I will definitely visit again.

First time to try Japanese cuisine, and was blown away by the taste. Both myself and partner had chicken katsu curry , and was delicious and very well presented.. The restaurant was pristine clean ,and staff welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend.

To begin with had a 20 minute wait despite booking a week in advance. No apologises given to us despite the wait. Took another 15 minutes to actually get drinks and food ordered. This continued throughout the night and staff weren’t overly attentive. We ordered gyoza & octopus balls which were tasty. The ground Korean beef donburi bowl was good. However the udon noodles from were over cooked and the teriyaki pulled chicken donburi bowl was just plain chicken and had no flavour. Unfortunately most of our party left quite disappointed from the meal.

I made reservations for 2 because of reading all the great reviews. We were sorely disappointed with everything! Service was terrible. Wait staff forgot to put order in and it took 1.5 hours. When food arrive wait staff slapped the plate on the table. Food was mediocre. Overall experience was terrible. Will not go back or recommend to anyone. There are far better restaurants in Tenby.

Everything we had was delicious and very friendly/polite service. Bit pricey but nice for a holiday treat. Would visit again and definitely recommend. Only downside is uncomfy bench seating instead of chairs.

Went to Tenby for our 25th Wedding Anniversary, went to Umi for an evening meal and all I can say is OMG taste sensation!!! Best meal I have had in a long time. Had the Prawn Ramen and Teppanyaki which was stunning with veggie gyozas with asian fries. Service was excellent and super friendly. Can't recommend this place enough, will be back here when we come back to Tenby!!!

The most friendliest staff in Tenby that you could get, amazingly fast service and delicious food. The atmosphere was unique and an experience within itself. Highly recommend for couples or families that are looking for a flavourful lunch/ dinner.

Best Japanese restaurant in Tenby hands-down! I had the Korean ground beef ramen, Asian style fries, and Bao buns for dessert! Service was professional yet friendly! Would recommend with everyone that would visit Tenby if they're craving Asian food.

Went for the first time since new ownership and had the best experience. Service was fast, friendly and very helpful with any questions we had. They catered to my gluten intolerance amazingly. The food was stunning, filling and great on price. Very different and original, nothing like anywhere else in Pembrokeshire. I definitely recommend!!

Went to Umi for evening meal on a Saturday. Starters (Prawns and the seaweed) and then main course (Udon noodles with Korean beef and Chicken teriyaki) were both very good. Portions were big so we were too full for deserts but they did look very good too. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Would definitely return and would recommend Umi.

We ordered the prawn ramen, chicken ramen and chilli squid. Which was absolutely delicious, so fresh and wholesome. The only thing that let's it down is the staff! Unfortunately they have zero personality 🤔 maybe it's because we're not locals. Please.. a note to front of house staff. The chef is serving such delicious good quality food why not get some feed back. Myself and my daughter at any point were asked how the food was or did we need anything. saying all this it would not put me off eating here again as the food is amazing.

We were a group of 4 with diverse dietary requirements; vegan, veggie, meat-lover, and starch-free. I'd indicated this would be the case in our online booking. The chef had asked the waiter to call her down when we arrived, which he did promptly. The chef could not have done more to accommodate our needs, and the waiter was on the case too. Instead of the usual 'as normal with something taken away' approach to special dietary requirements, the chef went out of her way to create something truly appetising and delicious for my friend: salmon and an exceptional salad. Loads of delicious vegan options on the menu for me, too. Highlights included a starter on the specials menu - tempura enoki mushrooms and the cos/edame/seaweed salad - also a starter, that could easily serve 2 or 3. Delightful, attentive service and fab food. Thank you so much!

Totally unimpressed. We came here on a very quiet evening. There were only two table occupied. As we entered the guy at the back behind the bar noticed us and turned his back whilst faffing around. No greeting, or 'Hi, ill be with you in a minute' we waited for about 5 minutes thinking should we just leave, I think the waiter was hoping we would. He eventually came over to us and we asked if he had availability for two. The place was EMPTY! (It was about 7.30pm) he looked around, went off, came back and said no space sorry! Awful. I'm sure they could have squeezed teo people in to the empty resteraunt for a half hour dinner.. pure laziness.
