Tyrrell's Fish And Chips in Southend-on-Sea

It really is the best fish and chips I've had in years and well worth the trip from Bristol. I'll definately be returning

I ordered a steak and Kidney pie and chips to take away, chips were okay but the pie was stone cold. First and last visit from me.

Hemos comido aquí en unas cuantas ocasiones, el servicio siempre es bueno y la comida siempre deliciosa, mejor "fish and chips" en la zona y muy bien decorada. Un encantador pijo "fish and chips".

Nice flavour fish and chips but guys come on, if I order a LARGE cod I expect to have a LARGE cod, not something I could buy for three quid from a supermarket and finish in two minutes, what do you serve if you ask for a small piece? A fishfinger?! Poor. Would also have been nice to have piping hot chips and not luke warm considering I was sat in the resturant as opposed to take away. Off to that lovely venue next to the Cliffs in future.

Enjoyed a tasty fish and chip supper but disappointed at the size of what was supposed to be a 'Large' cod. Compared to other fish and chip establishments in the Southend area, I would class it as just a Medium size. Having said that, the meal was still good and staff very pleasant and polite. Service very quick.

This is a really smart looking fish and chip shop especially for Westcliff (I can say that as I live in the area!). Nice and clean and tidy inside, no expense spared. Lovely old photos of Southend and Westcliff up on the wall. Clean inside too. Friendly staff. I had the chicken burger which was chargrilled bits of chicken, really tasty. Chips are great too. Partner did say the fish was good but tasted frozen...... You can take your own drink as they are currently getting their licence but £4 corkage seems expensive...... Will definitely be back (have been twice in the last two weeks).

This is fairly new and try to establish itself in an area where there is a well known chippy but isn't half bad

I stopped off for a bag of chips and they were absolutely delicious and so reasonably priced. I will be taking my daughter there to eat in so we can enjoy the good and the lovely surroundings.

We have just visited this place for take away fish and chips as we had been meaning to come for a while as it looks so nice. We had cod and chips and it was amazing! truly well cooked and such crispy batter. They also cook in good rapeseed oil so much healthier and prevents the chips having a funny taste. The fish comes in its own paper box which is better for the environment than the polystyrene ones often used and the chips are put into strong paper bags which are great to walk down to the seafront with.I hope this place stays the same and doesn't get taken over by new owners which is often the case here as these guys know how to do fish and chips. These guys also offer other great options such as grilled chicken wraps which look very nice but yet to try. For anyone who may not have the same opinion about this place clearly doesn't have taste and hasn't considered the quality of everything offered. I'm not and advocate for the shop, I just like to rave about the food establishments in my town that have seriously made a spot on effort and deserve praise.

We haven't stayed at the restaurant, have always ordered take away. The fish is freshly cooked, very very tasty, chips are crispy and never soggy. We travel all the way from Rayleigh to have it. Highly recommend.

Chips are not home made fish is not the same everytime waste of money such a shame can't believe they can't peel a spud threw in bin crap

I looked in despair as I unwrapped the meagre portion of fish and thought my husband had ordered me a child's meal by mistake but apparently not, this was regular cod and chips. I kid you not, this was not much bigger than the type of battered fish portion you buy in multi packs from super markets. The chips were dry and tasteless too. I imagine they are deep fried but they looked and tasted like cheap oven chips. Although this establishment is conveniently nearer to our home, we will make the journey to the fish restaurant adjacent to the Cliffs Pavilion in future. No comparison.

Well it was a Friday night so I thought what do I fancy to eat. looked at Tyrrell's fish and chips to our surprise there was such a wide variety to choose from.. Thought we would go for the the best ever chicken wrap, drove straight there, it was modern and very clean, the staff were really friendly and it was freshly cooked and quick. I got home, me and my partner loved it!! it wasn't greasy just delicious and we'll definitely be making a habit of going back.. can't wait to try other dishes on the menu.. You won't be disappointed👍😄😃😃😃

Have had many take away fish and chips here and the quality is consistently superb. It really is a very state of the art fryery. The fish is fresh and moist, cooked superbly with the most tasty light batter and the chips perfect. I generally don't eat the batter but this is too delicious to resist. Easily the best fish and chips we have tasted in years.

Without a doubt the best fish and chips I have ever eaten!! Beautifully light and delicate batter and the tastiest cod! £4.80 for a small portion that was ample and filling! Even came with a cuppa! Highly recommended! The chicken wraps looked delicious and were very popular to take away! I can't wait to try one!

Cod and chips with mushy peas and Oh my Goodness, The fish was moist, fresh and in gentle batter. Delivered, but in polythene and then protected by foil so it arrived HOT!. The cod was outstanding - so moist and fresh full of flavour and firm. This is how fish should be cooked. To get it delivered too, promptly (earlier than promised) and still be piping hot. Well done guys.

Crisp batter with large flakes of white fish. Good chips and very good service. I've never eaten in but the restaurant looks nice. Tables outside but on a main road.

Been meaning to visit here since it opened and finally got around to it. Genuinely the tastiest fish and chips in the area. And delicious spring rolls!

I've left a review on here for Tyrell's before, but our most recent visit was better than before. The staff, again were very friendly and chatty, noticing our baby and cooing over her. Me and my partner both ordered the chicken wrap to take away (pictured below). We weren't expecting much, but it was made fresh to order in front of us.

We had heard great things about the new Fish & Chip Shop in Westcliff, so we went to try it.

We visited at a busy time - possibly one of the busiest times of the week - Friday evening. From when you enter the shop, you can tell that there is no compromise on quality with tasteful decor and clean surroundings. Despite the queues, the service remained calm and comfortable. Expectations were managed in terms of waiting time and friendly banter with the staff helped time pass quickly. Quality was not compromised even at a busy time, because the taste test was really positive. My partner, in particular, who doesn't usually enjoy chip shop chips, remarked that they were the best she had ever had. They were crispy and a lovely flavour. The fish was gorgeous - batter was crisp and not oily at all. All in all a fantastic meal.

One of my biggest loans with fish and chips is bad batter, no worries here the fish we had was delicious and really friendly service, right on my doorstep, very happy.

Very funky new place, lots of care seems to have gone into the interior and the food was excellent. Could not be faulted! Service was great and makes other more established fish and chip restaurants locally seem dated, stale and tired.

Me and my family live locally and were very excited to discover a brand new chippy opening just down the road!

This fish and chip restaurant looks the business both outside and in: stylish, clean, and true to its historic, seaside location e.g. there are old 1920s photographs of Hamlet Court Road on the wall. The staff are friendly and efficient. The haddock and chips we had were cooked to perfection. There are other food choices available both traditional and modern if you don't like fish and chips, or fancy a change. Give this place a try and you won't be disappointed.

This is a new resturant, it's very small but wow does it make up for value and great food Fresh fish was served, batter was light , all in all a really lovely meal was served up to us.

I walk past every day at work and was waiting with great anticipation for this place to open and I was certainly not disappointed!
