A thoroughly enjoyable evening. We started with a drink on the terrace and we were given the option of eating out there too and we did. A beautiful view and a perfect spot to watch the sunset .Definitely planning on returning.

My brother and sister and I had a fantastic stay at this hotel The owners couldn’t have been more professional and helpful Our ancestors built the hotel, and when the owners realised our connection, we were shown some fascinating paperwork and information about the house and our relatives some of which was new to us! Our stay was very enjoyable and the beds were so comfortable and the rooms spotlessly clean. I highly recommend staying here

We ate in the restaurant three nights whilst staying in the hotel. There is a wide range of options on the menu. Between the two of us we did not have any negative comments. I had the vegan meal one evening (cottage pie) and it was excellent, It is closed on Sunday & Wednesday nights.

You won’t start your day hungry. Do your food just how you like it .. during covid 19 you have a time to come down just for that extra pro caution.. while eating have that amazing view of the sea

Went for Sunday lunch yesterday with 18 friends. The environment is lovely with views over the bay. The staff were incredible, polite friendly and very efficient. The food was superb and excellent value for money. Just a couple of little comments, the vegetables on the fish dish were dry and would have benefited from a sauce. I don't like much gravy so would have preferred to service myself from a jug rather than have it put on my dinner. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Thank you to all concerned.

We visited here New Years Eve as a last minute booking and didn’t really know what to expect. We struck gold, what a beautiful place with great service and great food! All for a great price! Couldn’t ask for any more. The steak was beautiful!

Lovely setting for our final evening meal in Barmouth. Although not actually staying at the hotel- staff were friendly and welcoming. The views were spectacular across Barmouth and the sea whilst eating our lovely meal. There was a good choice of food on the menu and some specials to added to the choice. The overall experience was well worth the visit and if the deputy manager has time to tell you a story or two - well worth the listen - he was hilarious.

We ate in this restaurant twice during our stay in Barmouth. The food was delicious and each evening the chef came to meet us and recommended items from his menu. It was all cooked to perfection and served in a professional manner with a smile.

The dining room is lovely with a spectacular view of the ocean. The fish was very nicely cooked. The vegetables were the best I've had in the UK. We are staying at the hotel so it is very convenient for us to eat here.

Dos noches y dos días - como entrar en una novela de Agatha Christie. El carácter de este hotel único ha de ser experimentado, muchas de sus características originales se mantienen. El personal era completamente maravilloso, nada era demasiado problema y su cuidado y atención...

We booked a room - Having toured Wales for a couple of days, believing; quite wrongly that it would be amazing. We originally booked a £91 per night room, pricey as just b&b. Dear God what a run down awful place. This is not a Hotel - It is far from it - Awful!! The room we booked was smaller than our office. We work all year and time off is precious and expensive - Do Not Go Here - It is just a run down house 15 - 20 mins walk from Barmouth we asked for a better room and were told that it would £115 per night for a premium room photos to follow!!!- - No service - Bar was closed at 6.15 pm when we left and closed at 10.00 pm when we returned, The bar man was adamant that it shut at 10pm, he was quite rude. It completely ruined our anniversary. The menu; entitled A La Carte - Has absolutely nothing A La Carte about it - Someone needs to explain to them the actual meaning. Over priced pub food - a disgrace - Grilled dover Sole and Chips is £ 22.95 (London prices + + ) No service no bar awful place - We had unfortunately pre paid for the basic room or would have walked away. First time in my life that I have refused to pay for the "up Grade" left feeling crap and annoyed - Just don't do it !!

What a wonderful break we all had. We took our Grandson and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of Khalid and Janette in what we can only describe as a calm homely atmosphere. The staff are a credit to them, highly experienced, polite and courteous. The food was second to none and we thoroughly enjoyed everything put in front of us. Simon, the Chef, knew his business. It was so nice to a Chef come to front of house and chat with guests. The rooms/we had the turret four poster room and our grandson was in the single room, both sea facing/were spotless as were the en suites.Crisp white bedding and comfy beds. We were very moved to have a single rose and box of chocolates and card wishing us a happy anniversary. What can we say about Khalid and Janette-what a delightful couple just made for this business and it was a privilege to be allowed to spend time in their lovely home. Go again.?..we came home and re-booked within the hour..Exceptional little jewel-so pleased we have found it. A unique Hotel with unique owners and staff, views and food are wonderful.. Visited here for Saturday valentines night and it was definitely worth booking. The host and all the staff were very friendly, chatty and very helpful. The surroundings were lovely and it was a shame it was dark outside as the view would have topped the night off. We had a drink in the lounge area and chose our meals. It was a nice start in a nice setting. We ate in the conservatory which had a lovely ambience and valentines decorations. Staff even brought out a red rose for the women. I had the whitebait for starters whilst my partner had the goats cheese salad. Well presented and tasted really nice. I would have liked a tartar dip with the whitebait. For our mains I had the venison steak which was cooked perfectly and the sauce was scrumpy. Couldn't fault our meal. My partner had the melt in the mouth lamb. The meals were beautiful and we were well stuffed. Would have liked a choice of hot puddings but hey ho. We finished the evening back in the lounge with another drink as it would be rude not to. Would definitely come back here and would definitely recommend it. Thank you so much for making our evening special.

We ate here whilst on a short break to Barmouth. The welcome was lovely and the decor/ location cannot be faulted. However the food is bland and old fashioned. The fish was overcooked and dry. The prawns were in a burnt bitter garlic butter, with a half cooked bread roll nestled in the salad on the plate ? Not great coooking or presentation. The replacement steak was okay but the veg side was dreadful. Grey asparagus and its dried up friends really not acceptable in 2015 where the dining out experience in the UK has moved on in recent years. Only saving grace for this place is the service, the young man was very well mannered and did his best as he was the only one waiting on, even the the owner was in the dining room attempting to schmooze the clients.Give it a miss Bistro Bermo is a better option but you need to book.

We had not dined here for some years and decided to give it a try. We were a party of four adults. On taking our seats in the dining room (with an excellent view) we viewed the menu (unimpressive, very routine) and were informed of the evenings specials. We tried one of the specials, the soft shell crab, as a starter which was not greatly enjoyable. The whitebait was stated to be excellent. Main courses were excellent fish and chips, also the Haddock fillet. The lamb was OK. Desserts were OK .The staff apeared disinterested. We requested the wine list twice before it was brought to us. We were told that the waiter had become distracted in the kitchen. We asked for a second bottle of wine, which failed to appear. When questioning this we were told that the waiter had become distracted in the kitchen, again.. Distracted by what, one can only wonder as the dining room was not busy.To sum up, we will not be returning to this mediocre establishment. Lovely location, lovely period building, but the dining experience was distinctly unremarkable. We got the feeling that no nobody was really interested in us, or what was being served. We left with a feeling of disappointment and regret, having parted with £120.

The food here is nice, but nothing special. The dishes on the menu are very last century and the garnishing and presentation style much the same. The food was under-seasoned and if something is said to have chilli in it - then chilli should be in it, in discernable quantities. The prices are not cheap and there seems to be little effort to promote local produce. Some venues we visited had a list of local suppliers in menus and details of where the primary ingredient had been reared, grown or sourced. Just non-descript fish, beef and lamb here. There should at least be a signature dish in each course and a couple of house specials might improve the choice.I think the restaurant here is regarded as a service to the hotel rather than a restaurant in its own right and therefore does not feel the need to be competitive and so there is a malaise about the food service operation.Wine choices were good at reasonable prices.Staff were a little aloof with little interaction with the guests and some background music might have softened the atmosphere.A perfectly acceptable meal but not one that anyone will write home about or receive any awards for quality.

For my partners birthday, I booked a meal at the restaurant for just the two of us. I booked via email and received confirmation within the hour. I requested a table with a sea view and explained that it was my partners birth. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the manager and taken into a lounge area while we chose our meals. We were then taken to our table and to our delight we had a fantastic sea view and our table had been thoughtfully decorated with some `happy birthday` confetti. The food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. The whole meal, including desserts and drinks came to just over £ 41.00. Needless to say, we will be returning on our next visit to Barmouth.

Out of 7 visits to the restaurant over the last five years. Five out of seven times have been great with friendly service. They are good with young children too. The other two times, the steak pie was dry and we had to ask for gravy it wasn't given ! And my husband once had fish and chips and got food poisoning from the fish. We would still go again though. On the whole it's a fine place with great views.

Beautiful surroundings and friendly staff, food is good but doesn't come with any sides of veggies. Hubbie really enjoyed his curry my lamb was tasty too. Value was ok would've been better with some greens added to the lamb. (Bread rolls were provided which was good value though)Worth a visit for the views alone!

A wonderful find - such a great restaurant! The menu is small but wow; the choices are fantastic. The coconut chicken was perfect, roast potatoes were delicious and the beautifully cooked. As a coeliac and dairy intolerant - would definitely recommend.

Called in for coffee and cakes. Took ages to be served but staff were pleasant. We sat upstairs and appreciated the heating being on as it was a cold day. The coffee was weak and we only drank it to warm us up. My dad’s iced bun was more like a rock cake. The bara brith we bought to take home was the worst we’ve ever had. Completely dry and tasteless. Best thing about this place was the clean loo. Would not return.
