What a magnificent house. Decor and design is amazingly detailed. Owned by National Trust. The guide around the house were very knowledgeable and helpful. There was a mini bus that took you round if you have mobility problems. Very regular and seating with cover provided. There are also designated chairs scattered around the house that can be sat on if you need to rest, due to mobility problems. Lovely little cafe and shop. All staff are very friendly.

We had a fantastic day out at Tyntesfield House. All the staff were incredibly kind, knowledgeable and professional with answering any questions we had. Even the car park attendants were super patient when we were looking for a space in an INCREDIBLY busy car park! The building itself is in remarkable condition and I'm glad it's been preserved to show off. Unfortunately a few rooms we really wanted to see were closed off as an art exhibition was being displayed. (I wasn't a huge fan of the artwork, but to each their own). I do wish they'd made the car park bigger as we had driven all the way down from Manchester and ended up driving round and round looking for a space. I understand they don't want to ruin the estate, but there's so much of it, and it wouldn't hurt to add an overflow car park surely. Nevertheless, a great experience and I'd recommend it to anybody!

Went on a glorious sunny day and the gardens were stunning. The kitchen gardens were spectacular and I look forward to coming back next summer when the rose garden is at it's finest. 4th Oct 2024 The house & gardens were great to see, the house structure was spectacular and the flowers & veg were impressive. BUT the current ‘art’ displayed around the house was terrible, looked like second hand ladies black tights fill with old screwed up newspapers, heard many people say it ruined the look of the rooms, I cannot understand anyone thinking that the displays were art.

Had a gorgeous day at Tyntesfield, wandering the autumnal vegetable gardens, admiring the views and picking around the paths. All staff/ volunteers were lovely and very well informed. We really enjoyed the art installation, as did everyone else we encountered in the house - particularly the children! I suppose most art divides opinion, but thought it was clever and played with the history of the house in a way that will bring new visitors.

A lovely national trust property spoiled by an "art"installation. Beautiful grounds and a lovely house but too many rooms closed and the ones that were open had been, in my personal opinion, vandalised by an"art" installation. I really hope the national trust did not spend any of my subscription money on the installation. Intrusive, a trip hazard and unsightly. Had i not been a member, I would have left and asked for a refund.

What have you done to the house?? Only 3 rooms open downstairs, and 3 rooms upstairs filled with odd bits of furniture! And everywhere the “Art” .No Diningroom, no Mrs Gibbs’ Sitting Room, No Billiards Room. In fact not worth the visit. The Grounds and gardens are wonderfully well maintained and make up a little for the disappointment

I haven't been to Tyntesfield lately, not one of my favourite NT properties. But the picture of the new art installation ' The uninvited guest' shown in the newspaper this weekend is absolutely ghastly. I certainly won't be going in the near future. National Trust property convenient to Bristol. Lovely gardens and an impressive house with ample parklands for a walk. Visited on a sunny Saturday so fairly busy but still easy to enjoy without queues. Plenty of available parking (free to National Trust members) and an especially nice NT shop. The cafe did not impress with the selections for afternoon tea. Perhaps a sunny day with extra visitors overextended their supply. Recommend but visit the cafe early!

We've visited the house many times in the past and decided to go this weekend to see the new art installation. There seems to be a lot of negativity towards it and I accept that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I found it an interesting idea and enjoyed seeing something different in the house. There are also a couple of rooms to see that aren't usually open to the public. My teenagers enjoyed the Stranger Things vibe and the young children I saw were having a great time finding the various parts of the installation. If nothing else, it has got people talking and I'm sure it will have attracted a few more visitors. All in all, another very enjoyable visit to a beautiful place.

We have lived in Bristol for many years but never managed to visit this place. It's a fantastic national trust property on the doorstep. We looked at this property as it looks amazing online. When we arrived we were blown away! House is beautiful, ground is well maintained, various walks you can go for, small chapel and orangery. It has got a lot to offer if you like walking. Honestly was so impressed with the house and the volunteers that worked within. If you are not a National trust member there is an entrance fee £18 plus car park £5 which is quite expensive but all the national trust are quite pricey nowadays. We spent nearly half of day walking around and exploring the house. However I do think there are few points which needs to be considered and puts this place in a bit of negative side: 1. Toilets are untidy, smelly and congested. Once you pay around £20 you do expect a good toilet facilities but it's quite poorly managed. 2. Baby changing facility are not separate. It's weird going in Mens or Women's to change baby nappy. Baby changing facility is very cramped. 3. They got 2 places to eat but the main restaurant is near the entrance which is weird. You go walk around the place and then you get tired and hungry but you have to come all the way back to the entrance to have a proper food. Overall, it's a good place but food and toilet facilities are bad.

Visually beautiful house on the outside and even better inside. The downstairs rooms are ornately decorated with beautiful ceilings and rich furnishings. The central hall reaches up to an impressive wooden roof with a lovely wooden staircase ascending around three sides. The rooms on the first floor look half finished or are being used as storage. The private chapel is stunning. The formal terrace garden is small but beautiful, the rose garden looks overgrown with lots of other flowers, and the kitchen and walled gardens are impressive. The cafe was very busy, had a good variety of food and drinks, and service was good.

Absolutely beautiful grounds and house. The gothic style is amazing. Lovely cafe with best blueberry Scones! We had a great day and would highly recommend it. They cater for children very well with random activity pitt stops to entertain the children and provide a rest break. There are also plenty of well placed benches for taking a moment to absorb the scenery or just to rest your feet. The only one downside was some of the staff in the house... even though we greeted them with a hello and a smile, we received nothing back. But immediately after us some elderly people did the same, and they were greeted and told about the room without asking. We can only think that the staff were also elderly and don't feel comfortable talking to the younger generation.

A beautiful place to visit on a warm summers day. This is a vast estate, with the grounds mainly parkland, but a few colourfully planted areas appear as you amble along. It is clear that much care is taken over the maintenance of the grounds, with all lawn and shrubbery looking manicured and pristine. There are plenty of areas to sit along your walk, so as to admire the loveliness of the surroundings. There are also a couple of cafe's & areas of play for the little ones. The house is definitely worth a visit, with everything kept insitu since the death of the last owner, in the early 2000's. Not all rooms can be entered, but everything can be seen. If you're lucky (as we were) a staff member will be playing the piano in the entrance hall, and the sound will follow you as you experience the wonders that await. Enjoy.

We always take a picnic due to the cost of eating at these places and there are lots of benches to stop sit and relax. A little disappointing that no maps were available to help us navigate our way around. We try not to use our phones at the weekends so the offer of scanning a QR code as a way of finding our way around was not much use. Although we were assured by the man at reception that the signage and information boards at junctions would ensure we didn't get lost and made the most of our visit. A good day out.

Not the easiest of National Trust houses to get to lots of narrow country lanes, however ideallic scenery to see along the way. The car park is quite far from the house so be prepared to walk, however there is a shuttle service that will take you right up to the house. The house has been very well preserved and has so many of its original pieces displayed. As you walk through each room there are some guides to read about the history. When you have reached the end of the house it leads into a very beautiful chapel. A very quiet place to have some reflection time. Going outside you can wander through the gardens which again is quite a steep walk at times but worth a visit. From the moment we arrived until we left, all the staff we came across were super friendly, helpful and informative. (Which as they only have 3 email or call in advance to check availability and book to avoid disappointment) We had food at the Pavillon cafe where they were quick and efficient to serve and the food was just right and very tasty. All round a fantastic fun filled day- made especially memorable due to all the lovely staff we came across throughout our visit- thank you. Return visit after more than a decade and the Trust have been busy. It’s now so well set up to deal with crowds: massive car park, plenty of staff and volunteers booking visitors in, spacious cafe and shop in a spectacular barn (we loved the way our cafe booth still had its original milking parlour equipment). The house itself now shines in Victorian High Gothic splendour and there’s plenty of information (written and via knowledgeable volunteers) about the Gibbs family and how they used each room. Apart from the house itself dogs can go pretty much anywhere on the huge estate on lead, so we had a lovely walk in the huge grounds. We visited at Half Term, so the place was busy with families but the place is so big it never felt crowded and children seemed to be genuinely entertained with the activities and some fabulous nature themed play areas. The only thing I missed from our earlier visit is the fascinating room that showed how the place was on the day it was given to the National Trust, with possessions stacked up ready to be sold to the highest bidder. Thank goodness the ‘Save Tyntesfield’ campaign succeeded at the last minute!

Beautiful place to visit! Free parking, gardens were impeccable, clear map and instructions at the help desk, beautiful cafe with dine-in and takeaway options. Wish we didn't leave it so late in the day to visit so we could have sat in the cafe for a bit but we got there as it was closing (4pm). The only negatives were the toilets were a bit grimey and you have to book a tour in order to see inside the Chapel. We will be back when they open up for spring. 😊 Expensive if you don't have NT memberships.

Super day out at this interesting Gothic Revival House and grounds. The volunteers in the rooms were amazing. They were enthusiastic, friendly and happy to share their knowledge of the history of the house and family. They made sure we got the most from our day out.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Tyntesfield House, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The moment I stepped foot on the property, I was transported back in time to the Victorian era. The architecture and interior design of the house are impeccably preserved, making it a true gem for history enthusiasts like myself. The estate itself is nothing short of breathtaking. With acres of sprawling gardens, ancient woodlands, and picturesque landscapes, Tyntesfield House offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's the perfect place to unwind and immerse yourself in nature. The knowledgeable staff at Tyntesfield House are passionate about sharing the stories and history behind every nook and cranny of the property. Their guided tours are informative and engaging, providing valuable insights into the lives of the former inhabitants. I particularly enjoyed learning about the Gibbs family and their contributions to the local community. Furthermore, the facilities at Tyntesfield House are top-notch. The visitor center offers a range of amenities, including a charming gift shop where you can purchase unique souvenirs and locally sourced products. There are also delightful cafes and picnic areas, allowing visitors to indulge in delicious treats while enjoying the stunning views. if you have mobility issues, you can catch a shuttle bus from the visitor centre to the main house and back, there is quite a hike to the house and a steepish hill to navigate. Diabled parking is nice and close to the visitors centre and don't forget if you are a NT member to scan your card at the parking ticket machine to save getting a fine. In summary, Tyntesfield House is a must-visit destination for history buffs and nature lovers alike. Whether you're interested in exploring the grandeur of the house or wandering through the enchanting gardens, this historic site offers an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend adding it to your travel itinerary, as it's truly a hidden gem that deserves more recognition.

Great place for a wonder round. Not sure if it's a whole days worth of activities but it's definitely a good day out. Wonder round the gardens and the house with an Abbey attached. Beautiful rich history and a lovely tea room to have coffee and cake in.

Amazing estate at all times throughout the year with something different to see every time you visit either in the house or the grounds. As well as a stunning Victorian gothic mansion it features a rose garden, walled kitchen garden, play area, woods, a cafe, a shop and tree specimens from all over the world and much more! One of my absolute favourite and most frequently visited estates!

We visited here after a short stay in Somerset and were so glad we made the detour from the M5 on our way home. The shop, plants, secondhand books and restaurant were a joy in themselves - all of which we sampled and enjoyed. The only negative was the walk to the house - apart from the ups and downs of the very slippery path, it was difficult for someone like myself, who is not disabled but just struggled with my back on that type of terrain. The bus was not available, as it ws broken and the mobility bus was only for disabled, which I campletely understand but the walk to the house did detract from our enjoyment, especially with the prospect of walking back. However, once at the house, it was amazing. The history is fascinating and, dressed for Christmas, it was wonderful throughout. The volunteers were in period dress and character and they were all superb, even to singing carols in the hall around the piano. There was so much to see, it was so interesting and enjoyable. The lockers for bags before going into the house were certainly a bonus, if a little of an ordeal to find. Overall, we had an excellent day but would hope the bus was available on any future visit. Interestinly, on our 5 day trip to Somerset, we saw 3 NT properties - 1 was the worst NT we have ever visited but the other 2 were in our top 5 - Tyntesfield being one of thise 2. The volunteers obviously embraced their roles and made a great property into a memorable experience.

Absolutely fantastic service. Staff were excellent, polite, friendly and professional. Had a toasted tea cake and a latte. Prompt and efficient. Tea cake is massive which is why I go to Coffee#1 Popped back in today 31st October 2024. Staff again were friendly, efficient and helpful. Coffee and cake were excellent 👌🏻
