Lovely place to visit for walks in the grounds and gardens. I haven't been in the house for a number of years. It's rather expensive unless you happen to be a member of the National Trust, but definitely worth it if you are local. Obviously if you join, then you would have access to places across the whole country. There are 2 cafes, a shop, and a second hand book shop, which are all worth a visit.

Definitely one of my favourite NT places I've visited so far, great place for a dayout! Even though the carpark was full (there's an overflow carpark too), it didn't feel busy once we were in, mainly because the grounds and the gardens are really massive with lots of things to see. The house is impressive (loved the library!) and you can walk through the chapel on the way out.

Very good you can see lots of the house which is nice and there is loads of room in the grounds for kids to run about. There are 3 different walks you can take around the grounds ranging from 30/45 mins to 1.5h to 2h long, but what is nice is you can cut your walk short or make it longer mid route.

I had a day visit with a group of friends for the purpose of photography. I must say we were lucky with the weather and had a fantastic day. The whole estate, is in perfect condition and certainly well maintained. Plenty of volunteers and staff who are more than willing to help. The cafe provided a varied choice of drinks and snacks and the main house itself is a must for a visit. I would like to give us a special thanks to" Brummie John" the minibus driver who assists people with walking difficulties around the estate in his little minibus. This was a great assistance to me in my temporary invalidity.

Having dropped by for a spot of light lunch we found that all sandwiches had run out by 1.15pm and later found that salad had also run out which is very strange as the walled is full to bursting with salad crops at peak condition. Contact between walled garden and cafe is not good as it states that we use produce from the garden in the cafe. This is at the start of the main season. Let's hope things improve by our next visit.

A beautiful place to visit on a warm summers day. This is a vast estate, with the grounds mainly parkland, but a few colourfully planted areas appear as you amble along. It is clear that much care is taken over the maintenance of the grounds, with all lawn and shrubbery looking manicured and pristine. There are plenty of areas to sit along your walk, so as to admire the loveliness of the surroundings. There are also a couple of cafe's & areas of play for the little ones. The house is definitely worth a visit, with everything kept insitu since the death of the last owner, in the early 2000's. Not all rooms can be entered, but everything can be seen. If you're lucky (as we were) a staff member will be playing the piano in the entrance hall, and the sound will follow you as you experience the wonders that await. Enjoy.

The house is stunning! The architecture is beautiful and the rooms and collection have been well preserved. The jewellery safe is beautiful! Whilst we were there, there was a gentleman playing the piano in the entrance hall and it created such a lovely atmosphere. My 6 month old son was transfixed. The volunteers were very knowledgeable and friendly. The grounds are very well maintained and in keeping with the house. As members we try to visit as many properties as possible to make the most of our membership. Tyntesfield offers a good day out with options of house and gardens and parklands to wander around in. We always take a picnic due to the cost of eating at these places and there are lots of benches to stop sit and relax. A little disappointing that no maps were available to help us navigate our way around. We try not to use our phones at the weekends so the offer of scanning a QR code as a way of finding our way around was not much use. Although we were assured by the man at reception that the signage and information boards at junctions would ensure we didn't get lost and made the most of our visit. A good day out.

Not the easiest of National Trust houses to get to lots of narrow country lanes, however ideallic scenery to see along the way. The car park is quite far from the house so be prepared to walk, however there is a shuttle service that will take you right up to the house. The house has been very well preserved and has so many of its original pieces displayed. As you walk through each room there are some guides to read about the history. When you have reached the end of the house it leads into a very beautiful chapel. A very quiet place to have some reflection time. Going outside you can wander through the gardens which again is quite a steep walk at times but worth a visit. There is a shop and a cafe which serves some lunch items, however not the cheapest of places to eat. Overall a great place to visit.

(Which as they only have 3 email or call in advance to check availability and book to avoid disappointment) We had food at the Pavillon cafe where they were quick and efficient to serve and the food was just right and very tasty. All round a fantastic fun filled day- made especially memorable due to all the lovely staff we came across throughout our visit- thank you. Return visit after more than a decade and the Trust have been busy. It’s now so well set up to deal with crowds: massive car park, plenty of staff and volunteers booking visitors in, spacious cafe and shop in a spectacular barn (we loved the way our cafe booth still had its original milking parlour equipment). The house itself now shines in Victorian High Gothic splendour and there’s plenty of information (written and via knowledgeable volunteers) about the Gibbs family and how they used each room. Apart from the house itself dogs can go pretty much anywhere on the huge estate on lead, so we had a lovely walk in the huge grounds. We visited at Half Term, so the place was busy with families but the place is so big it never felt crowded and children seemed to be genuinely entertained with the activities and some fabulous nature themed play areas. The only thing I missed from our earlier visit is the fascinating room that showed how the place was on the day it was given to the National Trust, with possessions stacked up ready to be sold to the highest bidder. Thank goodness the ‘Save Tyntesfield’ campaign succeeded at the last minute!

We visited here after a short stay in Somerset and were so glad we made the detour from the M5 on our way home. The shop, plants, secondhand books and restaurant were a joy in themselves - all of which we sampled and enjoyed. The only negative was the walk to the house - apart from the ups and downs of the very slippery path, it was difficult for someone like myself, who is not disabled but just struggled with my back on that type of terrain. The bus was not available, as it ws broken and the mobility bus was only for disabled, which I campletely understand but the walk to the house did detract from our enjoyment, especially with the prospect of walking back. However, once at the house, it was amazing. The history is fascinating and, dressed for Christmas, it was wonderful throughout. The volunteers were in period dress and character and they were all superb, even to singing carols in the hall around the piano. There was so much to see, it was so interesting and enjoyable. The lockers for bags before going into the house were certainly a bonus, if a little of an ordeal to find. Overall, we had an excellent day but would hope the bus was available on any future visit. Interestinly, on our 5 day trip to Somerset, we saw 3 NT properties - 1 was the worst NT we have ever visited but the other 2 were in our top 5 - Tyntesfield being one of thise 2. The volunteers obviously embraced their roles and made a great property into a memorable experience.

Well worth a visit lovely house and grounds, the only thing I will say I had to negotiate 2 sets of steps outside the house which didn't have a handrail which would have been helpful, I walk with a stick would have been useful to have a rail to hang on to

Well impressed with the Christmas decorations throughout the house, the group of actors added to the Victorian atmosphere.

Our third visit of the year to the house and grounds, the rain was holding off as we took the walk from the entrance area to the house, please note there were allocated time tickets to allow consistent movement around the house. The house looked great with trees in most of the rooms decorated by the local schools which is a great way to have the children's involvement. The volunteers took a chance for a lot of them to dress up in period costume and some were in character as members of the Gibbs family. It was great to get to see the rooms in the back corridor that we had not seen before, lot of damp in this area needs attention...took the top walk back up to the entrance and then had a chai steamer and a cake each in the cafe. Lovely afternoon spent in the fresh air

We last visited in springtime to see the burgeoning flowers and plants. This visit we came to see the wonderful annual display in the Orangery. This time it was mainly made up of fantastic gourds and pumpkins of all sizes (some huge) and other beautiful home-grown items, such as onions etc from the Kitchen Garden. Our visits to Tyntesfield are the highlights of our year, every time without fail! The grounds are also gorgeous, wonderful walks in every direction. Or there is a courtesy bus to take you around, if you prefer.

House closed for winter. Grounds full of autumnal colour which was lovely for photos when the sun came out. Restaurant always good but ran out of baked potatoes today 😌.
