What a great pub. Proper pub. You don't often see horses in a pub garden. Beer quality could have been a little better. Back again, beer is in excellent condition. I'll put last time down to how busy they were. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. The prices are surprisingly low, less than your bog standard pub for an excellent place.

This is our local pub. The atmosphere is great although the service is always a little slow the staff are super friendly. Food is great. We have used the rooms for family staying. They are lovely but you have to remember that you are staying above a very old pub so it's noisy until the pub closes. Because of it's age, it's not at all wheelchair friendly. It's close proximity to Bristol means that there is an abundance of activities in a vibrant city within easy reach and you have Ashton Court opposite which is a lovely country estate with great walks. The coast isn't too far away either. It's a great location.

Great little pub within easy walking access to Ashton Court Estate. We stayed overnight here while we visited a festival. The bar manager/owner? was very attention/friendly even though it was very busy. Cosy, well equipped rooms although a little noisy with road noise as only single pain windows so understandable. Portion sizes are huge, we ate at lunch and breakfast the next morning.

My husband and I were looking for somewhere to eat after dropping relatives off at the airport. The Angel Inn was recommended to us by patrons at a different pub who didn't serve food on a Saturday! It looked old but pretty on the outside and when we went in it was beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was plentiful and delicious. I ordered a side of onion rings not realising my lunch came with a huge onion rings. There was so much on our plates we ended up asking for a tray to bring the leftovers home to pick on later but when we got back to south Wales we were still stuffed and couldn't eat it. Our dog approved of his snack 😁 Well definitely call there again if we're up Bristol way again

Very welcoming and accommodating staff today for Sunday lunch. The Sunday roast was very good however not served hot. The suede was freezing! We did like that condiments were offered before the food was served 👍 as can’t stand being offered after when food is getting cold!! We traveled from north Bristol to get here using two buses!!!! The pub is a pub and don’t expect glamour but what you will get is a good meal, home cooked at a fair price. Thank you 😊

We booked for 12 of us. Roast dinner amazing, lots of meat, lots of veg, cauliflower cheese came as standard. Burgers looked great too. None of our burgers had onion rings which was queried as menu stated they came included. None arrived anyway but the price of a meal was taken off our bill which we were pleasantly surprised with. The only negative was our table. Two of our chairs wouldn’t pull out very much as the fire surround was in the way, even the skinny ones struggled with this. Well worth a visit for the roast though as this was definitely one of the nicest I’ve had and good value.

Girlfriend and myself travelled here with a very last minute (24hr) booking online to run some quick morning errands in Bristol before flying on to a long break in Italy. Booking in, we had a slight issue: no fault of 'Angel Inn', just a very simple one-off oversight with the online booking company we used. As a result, the boss went out of her way to ensure everything was resolved literally without any complaint from ourselves, just a friendly beer table conversation and went well beyond anything considered necessary in what was evidently an emotional and stressful time for her. The resolve was beyond expectation and we feel guilty accepting it. It's a kindness we will not forget. We even forgot some trainers and had a call from her within minutes of checking out, literally as I was coming back through the door for them. We travel to Bristol once a month or more and the 'Angel Inn' will be where we stay going forward, many times. The location is superb, the staff super-friendly, lovely old rustic pub, clean rooms, beautiful old building, nice locals. Most of all, however, the owner is an absolute superstar who I can only wish the very best for! Thank you many times over and we will see you again soon, you would likely remember us. Our condolences for your dog passing once more :( x

As others have already said the drinks and welcome are good but the food lets this place down. Two of us ordered the Angel dinner which is felafel with fried halloumi but they had run out of halloumi so I went with the fish and chips. At £10 not expensive but a medium piece of fish but very small portion of chips and literally a spoonful of peas. As I was with friends I couldn’t really say anything but I came away hungry. My friend had the stir fry which again was a small portion but she said it was tasty. Won’t be going for dinner again ☹️

Chose to eat here because of it's high TA rating and booked a table for 4 as it was Saturday night of the balloon fiesta. The heavens opened when we were 5 min's away so we were decidedly wet when we entered the busy bar area. Waited our turn to be served and were told the menus were on the corner of the bar and were shown to a table in a small room next to the kitchen which was very drafty. It turned out that the normal menu wasn't available, only a limited balloon fiesta selection of £10 mains with a £5 supplement for rump steak. The food was ok but the chips were just the cheap frozen variety. My steak was very tasty but only came with a handful of chips and a spoonful of peas, not worth £15 in my opinion.Paid a visit to the loos before walking home which was like stepping back in time!

A cosy and traditional pub at the end of Long Ashton village, it has a cosy country pub ambience to it with horse brasses tacked to the black beams and a real fire blazing away. The menu offered a decent selection of “pub grub” dishes, and we both opted for the pies which came with either chips or crushed potatoes and peas. The steak, port, stilton & mushroom pie was really very good indeed – lovely tender chunks of beef, a rich and tasty sauce and just the right amount of pastry. The chicken, bacon & tarragon pie wasn’t perhaps quite as good, but was still nonetheless a decent and tasty dish. The only real improvements would have been some bottles of proper sauce rather than small sachets of indeterminate origin – although at least the wooden tray they were served in that had been carved with the pub’s name which was a nice touch.

We had a snack lunch and then, after our walk, a savoury tea. Service was excellent and the food tasty and well presented, the tea especially appreciated after our hike. Back in the car park, my wife bought an ice cream from the Tea Rooms' kiosk and then left her walking poles leaning against the wall (!) when we drove off. We discovered this when we got home and phoned the Tea Rooms. Without hesitating, David offered to go and see if the poles were still there - which they were - and then have them ready when we were able to return to pick them up during the following week. Exceptional service from a kind and thoughtful proprietor. Many, many thanks for your kindness.

Excellent home made pub grub. I had the special of faggots and mash and my partner had the veggie burger. He’s usually fussy as he loves the fake meat ones the best, however he really loved this veggie burger as the veggies were lovely and it had a great crunch to it. The chips were amazing too.
