Fantastic birthday treat lunch at The Buttery. Service could not be faulted and the food was out of this world! The plate of petit fours at the end just made the whole experience!

This is a hidden gem. The scallops perfectly cooked. The monkfish as well. Both the recommendations of the waiter. The monkfish lived up to the name "poor man's lobster". The texture was like that of great lobster. The flavor was mild, not fishy.

What a fantastic gem, superb food, first class service and a truly welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Nothing a too much of an ask for the staff. Having been several times with overseas visitors they love the character and rave about the food and service.

The buttery is an unbelievably gorgeous little place in the heart of the city, right near Anderson train station it's in walking distance of the town centre itself. The food was delicious and the staff were incredible...it was such an intimate venue that landed perfectly to my friends wedding. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Second time we ate here, and certainly not the last! Food is always very tasty and service is excellent. Thanks to all the staff for being so kind with our toddler :-)

This is a seriously proper restaurant. Service, food and atmosphere lend itself to a culinary experience you will thoughly enjoy. Price point excellent and wine choice reasonable. If in Glasgow this has to be a go to and I would highly recommend the venison along with the scallops.

Good place, beautiful decoration, helpful staffs. Attended the wine dinner event last evening - the foods are all of good quality but not quite impressive. Although it’s an event of wine, I don’t really feel for the wine pairing. A good place if you wanna try traditional Scottish dishes!

Excellent experience. Everything was just perfect, the food and service was brilliant and the restaurant is well worth a visit.

We came across this restaurant last night by accident, how lucky we were. Food was amazing, great atmosphere and the staff were so helpful and professional. Our waiter Callum was lovely he kindly recommended wines to go with our meals and is a real credit to the restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant, with amazing Scottish food. The scallops were unreal. All the staff were lovely. The ambience was lovely and cosy. The food is such great value for money and great portions. They also gave lots of free bread and butter! and the bread was amazing! It was corn bread and sundried tomato bread when we visited. Wish i lived in Scotland so i could revisit soon!

We feel very lucky to have stumbled onto this restaurant when staying at the nearby Hilton. 5 minutes walk, tops, and we were greeted with a lovely ambience and unfailingly helpful and friendly staff. The food was excellent, good choice of drinks, cocktails and whisky. Good value for fantastic Scottish ingredients cooked to perfection. A big shout-out to the Australian waitress who looked after us so well. Cheers!

Wow - what an amazing wee place! Me & my partner had dinner here last night and I cannot fault anything! Staff were attentive, cheerful & friendly (didn't get the name of the woman with pink hair but massive shout out to her as she was brilliant and made for a lovely experience!). Food was absolutely incredible. Honestly, I think this is one of the best places we've eaten. Will find an excuse to go back soon!

Yesterday's celebration experience at the Buttery was 5✨. From the moment we arrived to the second we left our party was treated to exceptional service. The Vegan options were terrific & we enjoyed our lunch very much! Thanks everyone for giving us a terrific experience!

Had a good Christmas dinner meal here, food, atmosphere, staff all were great, the set festive menus and main menus were great, lots of variety and everything cooked to perfection. We also had the dessert tasting board which was our highlight and highly recommend it if you're going with a few friends or a partner.

Had a graduation dinner here. Food was great throughout. We were given extra time because the ceremony made us running late for our booking. Staff thoughtfully arranged brighter lights and a cockeral ornament on the table! Highly recommend! And thank you all for the lovely evening!

The menu at The Buttery showcases the finest in Scottish cuisine, with dishes that incorporate locally sourced ingredients and bold flavours. From succulent Aberdeen Angus beef to delicate West Coast seafood, each plate is carefully crafted to delight the senses. Our starters were Beetroot and Fig - salt baked beetroot, roast fig, grilled courgette and marinated feta, roast walnut and honey dressing (£9.00) AND Scottish Smoked Salmon & Sea Trout with coriander and sorrel salad, dill and caper dressing (£12.00). The combination of beetroot, roasted fig, walnuts and honey get me every time; its a flavour combination I just can’t say no too. The marinated feta came covered in a candied honey shell that really complemented the warm chalkiness of the feta. I thought the dish could do with more beetroot, it should be the star of the show! The Salmon and Sea Trout were beautifully presented as a rose garden. The salmon and sea trout are wrapped together to create the roses which although look lovely, the individual fish looses its own flavour. A lovely dish, nonetheless. Mains consists of Highland Venison (£30.00) Saddle of wild highland venison, sautéed savoy cabbage and black pudding, roast root vegetable gratin, gin flavoured raspberry jus AND West Coast Halibut (£32.00) Pan fried halibut, seared scallop, warm samphire, broad bean and courgette salad, parmentier potatoes, rose harissa hollandaise sauce. The dish of Highland Venison showcased tender cuts of Scottish venison, sat in a pool of juniper berries and raspberry jus and perfectly seared to achieve a succulent and flavoursome masterpiece. I cannot recommend this dish highly enough. The Halibut was tasty although only seared on one side with the fish tail or narrowest end of the fish fillet tucked underneath. Scallop was tender and the rose harissa did not over power this delicate dish. Desserts were Chocolate Pecan Tart (£9.00) Dark chocolate, maple syrup and pecan tart, vanilla custard, candied ginger ice cream. Sea Salt & Caramel Cheesecake (£10.00) Breton sable biscuit & sea salt caramel cheesecake, apple and pear spiced compote, calvados soaked golden raisins. The desserts read wonderful on the menu and presentation is gorgeous, unfortunately the tart filling had split and the cheesecake base was almost as thick at the cheesecake filling and lacked the buttery crispness or snap of a biscuit base. The taste on both desserts were quite decadent, just the execution that was lacking slightly. The Buttery staff are tremendous and I cannot praise them enough for their excellent service and exceptional knowledge. They really to know how to elevate the entire meal to new heights. They not only offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere, but they also possess a deep understanding of the menu, ingredients, and culinary techniques. Their expertise allows them to provide informed recommendations, offer detailed explanations, and accommodate individual dietary preferences with ease. It was a true delight to be in the hands of serving staff that went above and beyond, effortlessly combining their expertise and hospitality to create great dining experience. One of the best restaurants in Glasgow. This hidden gem is just off the City Centre in the middle of Anderson. It offers great Scottish fayre with attentive staff. On a visit to Glasgow this is a must for Lunch or dinner for the foodie lover

Had a great meal here. We had venison and chicken with haggis for mains, both were excellent. The staff were perfect. I would recommend it to anyone for a nice meal. We will definitely be going back!

An institution. 150 years old restaurant. Waiting staff, excellent. Menu, good choice , mostly seafood. Quality of presentation and flavour, high. Mother-in-law has been in the restaurant business for fifty years and is very fussy about her fish but absolutely loved her fish main course. Thought there was a little too much potato in the seafood chowder but flavour good. The decor and atmosphere comfortable not stuffy.

Spectacular little Scottish restaurant near city center in Glasgow! My wife, daughter and I ate our first meal here on our last trip to Scotland and will definitely be back next time we're in town. Drinks and service were fabulous too!

Amazing Scottish fine dining restaurant with an interesting menu

Perfect from start to finish. Great to see a well organised, well staffed venue. Food was amazing, service was perfect and staff were genuinely lovely. The other touches that complete the ambiance like the lovely old crockery, cutlery and glassware. We will definitely be back and have already been recommending to friends and family already.

First time here and it was really good. Food was excellent and staff were friendly and welcoming. Looks a bit weird outside as it’s all on its own but once inside it was very warm and cosy. Menu isn’t huge and I assume is changed frequently but of all the things I had I enjoyed them all.

Visited on Sat 4th Nov with partner and 5 friends. My partner has hearing difficulties. We were given a private room and it was super. Tastefully decorated and away from the restaurant background noises. We never lost the buzz though as our waiters (Mark and Callum) were attentive, knowledgable, energetic and highly entertaining. There was nothing they couldn’t do for us. My scallop starter and monkfish/prawn main was delicious. Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals. If you only try the grand dessert once in a lifetime, you won’t regret it. It’s wonderful and sociable too. Back to Mark and Callum. A real asset to The Buttery and to Glasgow. Thank you guys for a highly entertaining and memorable evening.

My husband and I just had a wonderful meal at the Buttery. From the welcoming staff - especially Ian - to the warm environment to the delicious food, it was a night to remember. Ian even helped us get a cab home and accompanied us out. He was outstanding!

My Husband & I were there for dinner. From the moment we walked in the front doors to the moment we left everything was amazing. The service, the food, drinks, advice when asked for. It all made a truly wonderful experience. Calum welcomed us, showed us to our table & began our service. He was just lovely & well informed about the produce, how things are served. Mark continued with excellent service, we didn't have to ask for anything, he was very attentive, The food was absolutely delicious, from the bread to the petite fours, all amazing. The gin cocktail called 'Afternoon Tea ' was a highlight for me, tasted amazing & was served so beautifully. I can't wait to go back.

We visited this restaurant as a group for my wife’s birthday. One of the group had found this place and I’m so glad they did. Three of our group are vegetarian and we were all well catered for. The food was amazing, the wine was fantastic and the whisky selection was great. The main thing however was the fantastic service we received from everyone we came in to contact with from the moment we entered to arranging us a taxi on our departure. My wife received a special plate for her birthday. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Glasgow and wanting to celebrate a special occasion or just enjoy some wonderful food.

This was our first time here this year because I had an operation at the beginning of the year and am just starting to be able to go out. It was brilliant to be back here after such a long time ! Rory, the Manager, made us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely first class as always and the service from Gosa was brilliant. She is very friendly and very professional.

Wonderful lunch to celebrate a special birthday. Food was fantastic but the whole experience is really sealed by the wonderful staff and the relaxed but professional approach to their customers. Unlike so many restaurants, there is no time limit on the table and this allows for a much more enjoyable experience - never feeling rushed or reminded of a deadline. Very busy on a Saturday so booking recommended. Can’t think of anywhere better for a celebratory meal.

Restaurant calme, feutré au décors écossais à l’ancienne (menuiseries, moquette etc…) très sympa. Un peu à l’écart du centre historique (passer l’autoroute qui traverse la ville du Nord au Sud), dans une rue calme. Très bonne cuisine et service souriant impeccable. Attention en choisissant le vin, c’est au 3e essai que j’ai finalement trouvé un vin à mon goût (il faut monter en budget). J’ai demandé un whisky non fumé en digestif, on m’en a amené un légèrement fumé et le serveur m’en a amené un autre à mon goût avec enthousiasme. Je recommande !

Amazing atmosphere and exquisite food. This is probably the best restaurant I've been to, the food that we had was exceptional. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the Scotch Beef I had was the best I've had. Service was also top tier, very accommodating and friendly staff.

Wonderful. Incredibly good value and quality, tucked away a bit off the main streets, a true gem. Gordon Ramsay would love it too, nothing to swear about. Attentive and kind staff, not over the top but knowledgeable and engaging, we were made to feel very welcome from the moment we walked in. Situated in a really odd part of Glasgow but its definitely worth a visit. Lovely warm welcome, seated in one of their booths. I had pre- ordered a bottle of fizz as a surprise for my sister and her husband,bit was all ready waiting to be opened. Friendly attentive service ( they pour all your wine for you) but it's not overbearing or fussy. Lovely selection of complimentary bread to start. I had the smoked salmon and trout to start, it was delicious and there was plenty of it. Followed by the chicken with haggis, as a Glaswegian now living in England this was perfect for me. No room for dessert but as it was my sister wedding anniversary, they brought out a plate at ttecend with a great selection of petite fours and " happy anniversary" written on it. A special place for a special occasion. Glasgow hospitality at its best!

Absolutely fabulous evening at the Buttery. The food was delicious, the service exceptional and the ambiance was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thought that it was extremely good value for money. I couldn’t recommend this lovely place more highly.

Third visit and each time it gets better. The staff are wonderful, the atmosphere is unique and cosy, and the food is exceptional. Go hungry so that you can have three courses and then possibly cheese!

Well it is very hard to put into words just how good this experience was. We had a 70th Birthday dinner. Everything about it was perfect. The food was unbelievable but for us it was the staff was outstanding. Since Covid we have not had service like this. It was heartening to know there is somewhere that cares about its customers. They made the dinner feel like a party. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. It is a very long times since I have been able to acknowledge a wonderful well run restaurants that got all aspects of it write. Denis

Old school dining. This place is mind-blowingly good. No sneaky service charges and no two hour dining slot. Refreshing to say the least. Food was superb. Nice portion sizes. Cannot fault this place and cannot wait to return. A pleasant surprise.

Never been before but I'll definitely be back. Exceptional food and excellent service. Managed to sample the duck and chicken and haggis from the set menu which was delicious and very reasonably priced. Very satisfied and perhaps next time I'll stretch to dessert too?!
