The menu includes fish, meat, veggie options. Plated with class and served pleasantly by staff. One night I had the carrot wellington which had particularly good filling of carrot, onion, and spinach. Another night had the creamy risotto with asparagus & peas. Both were very satisfying. Desserts outstanding. The Carnacrach looked scruptious but I chose poached pear for a lighter choice. Had the Toffee Cake with sauce and the smallest scoop of vanilla ice cream. I would’ve enjoyed a little more ice cream with this large piece of cake.

We booked for dinner. Chicken and bacon lardons for starter, which we were surprised to find was a cold starter. It was tasty enough though. We chose venison for main course, it was very nice but sadly the meal was lukewarm. Puddings were good, although part of the chocolate delice wasn’t available so substituted with an alternative. My white chocolate and chilli cheesecake was very nice. Staff were very pleasant and service was very quick but the overall experience was a little underwhelming, there wasn’t much atmosphere in the restaurant despite it being quite busy.

Staying at the hotel for our wedding anniversary, we ate in the restaurant. Even with a reduced menu due to covid, service and food top notch. Salmon and pea/mint risotto and cheesecake were highlights. Rest was also top notch. Decent price too.

We ate here for three nights during our stay and were always saying what a good chef they must have. Menu stayed the same with a daily changing special. We tried the Venison, Steak pie, Fish and chips, Salmon, Burger. All excellent; well seasoned, nice portion size. Puddings outstanding - especially brandy basket, home make cheesecake, toffee pudding - cheese board also good! Altogether yum. (P.S Maybe lower lights a bit , repaint the white walls a warm terracotta, replace the dull pictures to give it a bit more atmosphere - it wouldn't cost much but would make a huge different and complement the excellent food more.

Food was to good quality and tasty with good selection of drinks included - our DBB includd a glass of wine and we were given a choice and a large glass each. Unfortuately the music was Ed Sheeran - it didn't go with the castle theme. The room was a bit bare and would be improved vastly by playing some medieval type music, dimming the lights and more decoration on the wall like a sword or shield to better fit the theme. The staff could be provided with a more appropriate uniform as polo shirts looked very out of place and unprofessional in a restaurant setting such as this. Staff attentive and friendly however.

One of the tastiest meals I think I’ve ever had. The duo of beef I had on 13th Feb was so delicious. The onions and the shallot rings were exquisite. It was a heavenly meal. The tomato soup was incredibly flavoursome too. Lovely service from all the staff. Thanks all.

The furnishings have been around a while though not as long as the castle itself! Some reviews complain about the tired decor. I hope they don't replace the tables and chairs as they have character. Some of it could use a bit of a touch up, however. The huge stained glass windows dominate the dining room and are a treasure. We had a misunderstanding the first night because the waitress, a very nice teenager, wasn't aware of some pricing policies. It was resolved by the front desk without much difficulty. Nothing on the set menu appealed to me but my husband thoroughly enjoyed his salmon. I ordered from the bar menu and had a lovely meal. Everything was fresh and well prepared.

The food arrives quickly, usually about 15 minutes, and is very good indeed. I'll give you one warning though, the chef does like his seasoning, so try before you go throwing on the salt and pepper.Portions are huge, but if you ask, they'll do a smaller portion. The haggis is sourced from the local butcher Cockburns, who are very famous and extremely good. I didn't think I'd like haggis, but this is very good indeed.Out of season, the bar and restaurant are only open from about 5-7pm depending on who's on, but in season the bar does excellent lunches, you certainly won't go hungry!

The food at Turrets was outstanding. I have had haggis before, but didn't really care for it. At Turrets, they served haggis balls on mashed potatoes with a mustard cream sauce. Haggis should always taste this good. My wife had orange duck pate' and raved about it. We also had rump steak that was tender and well prepared. The menu also had pork belly that some of our party ordered and they loved it. All the portions were more than sufficient and the prices were in line with similar restaurants where we have eaten.

Put in to the bar area. Terrible service. Mothers day meal for 5, ordered of set menu. My son didn't like what was on the set menu, asked from the bar menu. Then when we were ordering. The waitress said were only taking orders of the set menu. I Explained that my son didn't like the set menu. She replied OK we'll let you of this time. Ordered drunk when we first arrived. I had to ask 3 time for my drink. A pint of pineapple and lemonade. After the 3Rd time of asking, I was told that they had no pineapple juice. I said OK, make it a pint of orange juice and lemonade. So I receive a half pint of orange and lemonade. Desert was cheese cake. The table across from us were eating cheese cake when we arrived. Nice size of slice and looked good. We ordered 4 servings, and to say wee were disappointment was an understatement. The wedge that we all recieved was an inch wide at the Thick end if that. But did taste really nice. No atmosphere at all, no back ground music or anything. Really disappointing. Won't be going back

We booked an overnight stay, and arranged to have dinner with my husband's sister and her husband who live close by. That was no problem for the hotel to have 2 residents and two non-residents dining.Prior to their arrival we went to the bar in the hope of having a glass of Champagne or Cava, as we had just learned our daughter had become engaged. Sadly, the barman told us only had full sized bottled which was too much for the two of us. We settled for a beer and a G&T to celebrate. Very annoying then to discover there were 20cl bottles of champagne on the breakfast menu the following morning. This would have been exactly what we wanted the night before, for a simple toast, before out wine with dinner.Anyway, our relatives arrived and we were shown to the restaurant. There was a very impressive menu, and we all looked forward very much to our food. What a high standard it was.To start my husband and I both chose Battered Haggis Bonbons with Mustard Mash and Green Peppercorn Sauce. These were delicious. Our relatives both opted for the Grilled Goat's Cheese, with caramelised red onion and dried cherry tomato tart with balsamic dressed leaves. They ate heartily too and we liked the crispness of the bread we were served too.The other diners were two separate young couples, and we felt a little like we were intruding on their meals as they seemed put out that anyone else had come to eat. Being four we obviously had chat going on, but we were not loud by any means. It might not have seemed like they were so put out, had there been other diners. For main courses my brother-in-law and I opted for the Baked Scottish Salmon Fillet with crushed baby potatoes and creamed leeks. My sister-in-law chose the Roast Chicken Breast with fondant potato, haggis and oatmeal crumb, and red wine jus. My husband had the Slow Braised Feather Blade and Ox Cheek with creamy mashed potatoes, butternut squash purée and rosemary jus. All the meals were beautifully presented, extremely well cooked and piping hot. We were all impressed.Only my husband was tempted by dessert, as we were all full up. He chose the Creme Brûlée with Butterscotch Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream. That was the only extremely disappointing dish of the night. Either the waitress has simply picked it up in the kitchen before the top was blow-torched or put under the grill or the chef doesn't know how to finish off a Creme Brûlée. My husband did mention this to the young waitress, but his comments seemed lost on her, and were ignored. I'm also a Creme brûlée fan and would have been SO disappointed had I chosen this soft and soggy topped one. With a bottle of red wine, a coke, 3 teas and a double espresso our meal came to £119 for 4. 2 courses are £20.95, and 3 courses are £25. We'd looked at the lounge bar menu, and surprisingly the restaurant was not any dearer. We just loved Tulloch Castle and enjoyed our dinner very much, and the breakfast the following morning. There is a very extensive list of options at breakfast, including numerous cooked options, and croissants to die for!

I had the prawn cocktail, husband had the smoked salmon starters. Both were very good. The main courses of chicken and ox cheek were also good, though all the vegetables were undercooked for our liking. Even the mashed potatoes were raw! The coffee was luke warm. The service was excellent, however, and the meals tasty. We both thoroughly enjoyed the two meals we had in the Green bar the following nights, though again, the vegetables were undercooked and cold. A minor issue.

We had a meal in the bar restaurant and we all went away disappointed. This used to be a favourite place for us but after this meal I won't go back. One woman on the bar and waiting the tables and although she was friendly and polite, she did only have one pair of hands! One if us had a steak, described as the 'flat iron' steak! Iron was about right. He chewed and chewed before having to put it back on the side of the plate. He had the worst meal but to be honest none if them were great. The creme brûlée was mocha and resembled eating from a cold jar of Nutella with a dark chocolate coffee taste. A real shame as this used to be a really nice meal out but we all said afterwards this had to be the worst meal we have had!

We ate here both nights of our stay at Tulloch Castle. We were on a Dinner Bed & Breakfast basis and at dinner quite a few of the menu items incurred a surcharge including £11 for a fillet steak. We feel that's a bit excessive when the fixed price was otherwise £15.95 for 2 courses or £20.95 for 3 courses. However, it was good ! We also seemed to mis-read the menu which we thought suggested that coffee was included but it wasn't and we were charged another £1.50 each cup. Breakfast each morning was very good - no extras ! Overall, the food is good and service was very attentive.

We dined at Turrets Restaurant as part of a two night stay at Tulloch Castle. The other Tripadvisor report (dated 3rd Feb 2010) isn't accurate and would appear to be for the "Green Lady Bar" in the hotel which also serves bar meals. We had a few drinks in the bar before our meal in the restaurant - this was on a Saturday night. When we left the bar it was full of happy diners and I cannot relate to the other review. Turrets Restaurant is in another area of the hotel. The menu offers a selection of around 6 each of starters; mains and deserts with fixed cost for two courses (£15.95) or three courses (£20.95). Really good choice of items made with local produce, food was freshly cooked and well presented. Option to pay a small supplement for certain menu items such as rack of lamb; steak or biscuits and cheese. Staff provided excellent service and made our 7 month old baby very welcome and provided a nice high chair. We really enjoyed our meal and considered it very good value for money, especially given the unique setting.

there is no doubting the ambience, a floodlit castle atop a hill. If only the food, and service matched the setting.although some local produce is on the menu, by and large the food is deeped fried. and average, it is really the staff that disappoint however, they tend to gather at the end of the bar, including the chef, and chatter when folk are needing served, or waiting for a drink. not only that but they use the nearby fire exit to go outsside to smoke. Joy; ignored by people, smoke and cold air surrounding my food. If the manager could stop this, it may make for a better experience.
