Great locals pub with a very friendly atmosphere and excellent beer.

Great traditional pub, with fantastic original decor inside and lots of nic nacs. The bar lady behind the bar (who we think was the landlady) was very friendly and chatty with us. There are 3 handpumps, two local ones and a good mix of types and strengths. I would love this to be my local

Spit and sawdust, local boozer. Made to feel welcome as soon as we entered. Cheapest pints in the area and loads of bar snacks. Pool Table too which is a rarity in Pubs these days.

We stopped as part of the Dickins p7b walk, and had a cracking time.

Although this pub is in Wapping it is more of a traditional local than other pubs in the area. It has a smallish but nice beer garden and the pub is opposite a nice small park. It is also reasonably priced, three beers for under £16. They had 3 cask and 10 different whiskies. The pub is bright with a lot of natural light and has a pool table. This is not a pretentious pub and if you are doing the Wapping pub crawl I would add this to your list.

If you want to find a local traditional pub in Wapping then check this place out. They have a small enclosed beer garden at the back. The pub offered a good range of alcoholic beverages. The pub does serve food, but I didn't order anything so I could not give a rating for this.

This is a very lovely old school pub. Off the beaten track so no tourists etc. Reasonable prices and even though the gaffer is Tottenham, a very nice place to spend some time!

This is a proper pub run by a proper landlord. My first time in it and I cant believe I never knew about this hidden gem. 4 of us did a pub crawl round Borough/Rotherhithe/Wapping/St Katherine’s Dock. Some of the other pubs are more famous and in more glamorous locations. But the welcome we got was just levels above anything else we got on the day or anywhere else we’d been in for a long time. We said we would be back for our Christmas session but I’ll be back before the end of the Euros never mind the end of the year. Top gaff ran by a top man.

Bit of a hard-core locals pub, a couple of ales and a porter but mostly commercial largers. Good prices though.

We have been frequenting this establishment for many years, paul and Bernie are the perfect hosts we are always made to feel welcome even though it’s a long period in between visits. As always it’s a pleasure to return.

Super cool Little traditional vibes pub. We’re a couple of tourists who were in need of a pit stop. Service was friendly and the music was 90s hits. Can’t go wrong! Tried two locals beers poured from their old style taps. Worth a visit!

Avete mai visto "Legend"? Qui è ambientata la scena della rissa fra i gemelli e la banda rivale. L'arredamento è da pub tipico inglese. Il signore al bancone è gentile e disponibile. Abbiamo preso due birre e ci siamo trovati molto bene. Il locale è raggiungibile da una fermata della metro in 10 minuti di camminata.

One of the last remaining old school pubs in Wapping. The clientele are local down to earth people. Many other bars in the area are geared up to attract young people with gimmics and premium beers; not here! It is steeped in history and has many features that have not been replaced for years, if ever. The price of a pint is also 20% cheaper than other pubs in the area. So if visiting Wapping and you want a more authentic experience, then this place is a must visit!

Very much enjoyed and will be back. The interior has loads of character and they had three casks of Bermondsey brewery on tap which was quality.

I've been to the Turner's Old Star quite a few times and if you like an old school friendly East End pub then pay it a visit. When I went recently it wasn't busy but it was early in the week and just after Christmas. It is named after the painter Joseph Turner and was also used in the film Legend as the ‘Pig and Whistle’ pub where the peace talks between the Krays and the Richardsons soon descend into a massive punch up. It also has a pool table and live sports on a few big screens.

Proper proper pub. £5 cider and all the bar snacks you can ever need. Landlords and barstaff brillinat and the beer garden out the back is rare to find like this. Great little pub.

An excellent local pub filled with interesting local people. Plenty of outdoor seating and a newly revamped beer garden. It all makes for a great place to watch some football or just hang out with some friends.

Watched the boxing in there last saturday! Decent beers very cheap in my opinion! Good pool table run by good people! nice outside beer garden not sure why you have to have plastic cups tho thats the only bad thing i can say about it really!

Nice traditional pub! A bit more pricey than expected. Fosters £4.80, more than in pubs around central London! Only plastic glasses outside - not the orders of the old bill, just the guvnors own idea apparently.

This is a proper, no frills East-end boozer, with very friendly service. Plenty of history too, with the connection to JMW Turner.

This has to be one of the few remaining traditional East End pubs in Wapping. It’s named after the celebrated English painter Joseph Turner, who developed the original ‘Old Star’ tavern in 1851, after converting two cottages that he had inherited. The pub underwent a major yet sympathetic refurbishment in 1987 and was then renamed as a tribute to its original owner. Today it sells a good selection of well kept real ales and has large screens for watching live sports. For me the latter is a little too intrusive, but these things are a matter of personal taste. Nevertheless, this classic, historic pub Is definitely worth seeking out.

Great place to watch a match. We saw F1 finale, and the atmosphere was great and good service. The multiple speakers were echoing a little though.

Very good pub... Beer wasn't expensive yet good quality. Supplied food for a corporate hockey match and was well appreciated. Definitely worth a visit any day of the week or weekend

Decent little quiet pub with a pool table which kept us all entertained! Beer selection is okay but doesn’t offer as many as other local pubs. However, it is only a small pub so for what they have is great.

Interesting old pub in Wapping. As it's name suggest it was bought by the painter JMW Turner (for his then mistress!). Two cask beers available when I visited. Two gardens and an outside paved area where on can secure takeaways without entering the pub.

I've lived in the area for over 15 years. And it was the first time I went. Sat outside and was pleasantly surprised. Will definitely go back
