Damascus Bite in Tower Hamlets

I made the mistake of ordering the large mix grill for £50. It’s not worth it at all. You get a breast worth of chicken, some lamb shish, and two small koftas made with low-quality meat. They’re charging this much while the food isn’t even made on a charcoal grill, instead, they use the grills you’d find in a chicken shop. How can you charge the same price as places like Efes but have lower-quality food and not even use a charcoal grill, it’s embarrassing. I’ve had better-grilled food from cheap kebab shops. They advertise in their TikTok that they use a charcoal grill which is funny because they clearly don’t which is false advertising. They do shawarma, which seems to be the more popular option. It could be good but I doubt I’d go back to try it. Take your “grill” items off the menu and focus on your shawarma. Don’t sell something you can’t do right. Even your Luqaimat, I believe, wasn’t made properly as the centre was hard. When you open a restaurant, you are representing your country's cuisine. I doubt someone who has never had Syrian food would be willing to try it again after having your “grilled” food. Have pride in your food and make it to the best standard possible.

Wow. What a place. Get away from the madness of BL and have a tasty bite, great selection, high quality ingredients, decent price, friendly staff. Will be visiting next time I’m down Brick Lane!

Estaba en Londres por trabajo y por eso quería llevar a mi hija que actualmente está allí para la uni para la cena. Buscando en TA me encontré con este restaurante y estábamos tan contentos de haberlo hecho Justo desde el momento en que cruzamos la puerta la bienvenida fue cálida, acogedora y nada parecía demasiado problema en absoluto. Pedimos un plato principal y bebidas, pollo Shawarma y cordero shawarma. El servicio fue rápido con la comida bien presentada. El pollo de mi hija era muy agradable, PERO mi cordero era increíble, probablemente el mejor que he tenido en el Reino Unido. Pudimos probar algunos dulces también después de la comida, que también eran fabulosos. En general, una comida encantadora y súper servicio (además de una conversación encantadora también). Gracias, mantén el gran trabajo y espero volver en el futuro.

The best Arabian themed restaurant I’ve been too ever. The best Syrian food I had here was the lamb shawarma. The owner Aiman and his team is so nice and friendly and they recently been posting on social media (Damascusbite1 on Instagram and just Damascusbite on TikTok), In Sha Allah it goes well for them. Always a great place to bring multiple people with you l because their social media always offers deals to anyone who watches their videos. Can’t wait to go again soon.

I hadn’t been back here for 20 years and was pleased to see it still there!! My friend and I shared toasted wraps (which are huge) falwfel & halloumi (which was delicious) but the star of the show was the lamb shawarma!!! The meat was so tender and amazingly spiced. They make everything themselves which is very clear in the taste of everything. Cute area to dine in too. Plus the genetlemen running it were lovely. I’m not waiting another 20 years next time ;-)

The most unhygienic restaurant I’ve been to in a long time. I got food poisoning from this place. Don’t eat there; it’s not clean.

Food was great but took more than half an hour to be served which was a little annoying. But staff was kind and helpful. Maybe it was really busy when I went there.

I visited the Damascu bite with my brother for the first time, and straight away I was impressed with the layout and the atmosphere. The host was very polite and respectful and made us feel welcomed. The food was fantastic and great value for money, and I would highly recommend anyone to visit and have a wonderful experience. You will have a great experience and happy memories to take away with you.

I had the lamb shawarma which was pretty good overall. But the server was rude, dismissive and seemed to have a chip on his shoulder, especially if asked for any deviation - even a piece of lemon to be added to the order.

I ordered the Syrian special with lamb for £14, but I was charged £9 and received it with mixed chicken instead. The meat lacked seasoning, and the only sauce I could taste was chili, with no garlic flavor. It definitely needs improvement.

The worker claimed to be the owner and the owner claimed to be a worker. Asked us three times on our order. And still messed up our order. Didn't want to give us any salad but threw away two box meals in the bin since it was incorrect. Service left us with a bitter taste in our mouths. Shameful excuse of a restaurant owner.

I am at Damascus Bite now. The ever friendly brother Aiman made my lamb Shawarma and it tasted great! Parves, the other friendly brother from Sylhet, Bangladesh , makes a great Shawarma too. Damascus Bite is a great place!

I asked the waiter if the falafels were homemade. He just told me to try them and tell him if they weren't the best falafels I've had. They were. The falafels and other dishes are topped with a dried berry from Syria and Iraq that gives it a bitter flavor that enhances the dish. On the lamb shawarma, it gave a new level of flavor contrasts.

It looks absolutely nothing from the outside and looks like a German kebab shop. Would never have gone in if it hadn't been raining and it was in the immediate vicinity. But then we were pleasantly surprised: authentic, good food, crisp salad, everything fresh and extremely inexpensive for London! The operator/service makes a very serious impression. Absolutely recommended 👍

I implore you to not go to this place if you’re after good hot food or decent portions as you will not get either at this place. The customer service was just diabolical after service me cold food they told me that it was because I mixed it when I hadn’t. It’s a shame because I root for shops like Damascus but they have forgotten about service and food standards.

The food is reliably great. Service can be a bit slow, but it’s worth it. Friendly staff, too.

This shop is a classic I always come here for a wrap it's very filling they will always try to take care of you service is very quick the shop is decent in size they are so welcoming and kind trust me this will always be my go to place from now on for wraps they are the best.

Damascus is wonderful little restaurant in the Brickyard district. The staff is warm and friendly. Most customers are locals and native speakers confirmimg the popularity. The lamb shawarma wrap was a burst of flavor with a wonderful sauce, crisp veg, and tasty lamb. It will drip, so please be careful. It was press grilled to crispy perfection.

Service is top quality - boss gave us free big salad with our hummus and free sweets with our tea. Portions were massive and full of flavour. £30pp 3 courses + drink.

Amazing food at great prices. The service and establishment are definitely "no frills" but the price and the food definitely more than make up for that. No alcohol can be consumed on the premises.

Food is ok, not enough flavour, big portions. Seating is cramped.

Their service is usually a bit slow but last time I was there I had to wait an hour for 2 shish kebabs in an empty restaurant they’re not busy at all at that time. The food is okay nothing special in my opinion. And there isn’t that much atmosphere to talk about. What saves them from getting 2 stars is that the guy behind the counter was very nice he offered me a taster from a cookie they had on that day and also gave me some to take home for free. Still that doesn’t justify the extremely long wait I had to endure. He blamed it on the grill. Well if the grill is old and barely working buy a new one it’ll make double maybe triple the price you paid for it very quickly as the restaurant will be full of people instead of being always empty as it is now.

Falafel platter is great, Freshly fried. Not so impressed with the merguez. Decorations normal feels a bit dirty, service not so great either

We walked in to Damascus Bite after a short cold stroll around Brick Lane. Have to say I was impressed at how tasty the shawarma was, proper authentic Syrian style shawarma. I tried a mixed shawarma and both the chicken & lamb tasted amazing. The chips were seasoned with a unique Arabic spice blend. The pickles tasted home made, didn’t taste like the store bought jar ones. The tahini sauce it was served with was really nice, sesame tasting and mixed with possibly yogurt or mayo. To top it off, they offered free sweets at the end which was nice. The service was good considering the price and we were served with smiles. Overall a very nice dining experience, will be back to try some more of their dishes.

The test is good but could be better, price is quite expensive comparing to what I paid for precisely the same order in other Syria restaurant in London(at least 5 pounds higher here), the atmosphere is acceptable but not that good. However the staff was so kind and helpful.

At the ER with severe food poisoning. Determined it was their rice since that’s the only food that I ate and my family did not. (Luckily I was the only one to get sick.) Poor food storage. So. Much. Pain.

Our group of 6 called in here for a quick lunch after a busy morning sightseeing in London. We ordered a variety of wraps which were all very tasty. But that wasn’t the end of it - we were treated to complimentary pickles, rice and finally the most delicious baclava-type sweets ….and then some more of them to take away with us! Charming service, excellent value and highly recommended if you’re in the area.
